1. Autumn - just everything about it, the weather / temperature, the visuals, the clothing options, it's mi birfdi guv'nor, the RELIEF that it is no longer the loathsome Summer.

2. Hanging with friends / family. I am a simple soul, I just want a bunch of like souls, a pub garden, weather nice enough to sit out in but not so hot I want to die (we're talking nothing over 24 here....) and no deadlines.

3. Music. Yeah, that's an overly-general cop-out but I make music for a living and if someone told me I couldn't play again, or sing, I'd never recover. Leaping across the kitchen to whack the radio up to 11 because a CHOOOOON just came on, the Proustian flashbacks entailed therein, making up silly alternative lyrics to songs we've known since childhood, singing in large choirs, singing along with the radio on roadtrips, all of it.

4. Good food. Good simple food. Fresh bread + butter + cheese + a glass of beer or wine in a gite garden. Fish 'n' chips on the sea-front. The Family Sunday Roast. Cup of tea & a biscuit.

5. Being in/on the water. One of two people in a punt on a river. One of a thousand people in a cross-sea ferry. Standing up to my knees in the FREEZING sea where I grew up. Swimming in the quarter-degree-warmer lake, avoiding eels. Building dams in the streams for a whole afternoon, still would. I need to live near moving water.
