UnFeminine Things I Have Shouted While Doing Traditionally Feminine Activities (V):
"It is her birthday, a big one, and I will make her those cheesy crackers we all love so much, but she will have to wait because it is 29 DEGREES IN MY KITCHEN RIGHT NOW and GOD HIMSELF could not make pastry in 29 degrees..."
...and one wet one.

It is an acknowledged thing to equate all of human living to various fibre crafts - weaving life's tapestry, knitting up the ravelled sleeve of care etc etc - and it makes sense with the importance of said crafts in human history.
Just this week our vicar used the analogy of sewing / embroidery, saying how other people are only shown the finished piece without seeing the work that went into it, and also how the front can be beautiful while the back is 'a mass of tangled threads'.
And on the one hand I agree, I agree with the analogy and how we shouldn't judge people solely by what they present or how 'easy' their life appears, but on the other hand

Because I sit in the hub with the phone and the email before me people assume I know all the tea
BUT
because I sit in the hub with the phone and the email before me I'm not in any of the meetings where the tea is spilled
BUT
because I sit in the hub with the phone and the email before me people assume I already know all the tea so will come and talk to me about it
SO
I sit in the hub with the phone and the email before me and yes I do know all the tea, but only because you assumed I already did and told me.
I don't know but I do know because you think I know and so I do know.

The invitation said 'Lunch at 2pm', Hilary. It is clearly 2:03. Where is my smoked salmon, Hilary. I was told there would be smoked salmon.
10 characters, 10 fandoms
Got tagged by @bethanyactually - ten favourite characters in ten different fandoms. There has been angst and wailing and gnashing of teeth. Also a lot of suddenly-remembering-shit-at-3am, but that could be because I'm ill and have to keep getting up at 3am to throw up...
Anyway starting with a cheat:
1. Any of Charlotte Bronte's heroes - say what you like, that girl knew what she liked. I'm torn between Rochester or Robert Moore or Louis Moore. I would even take the Professor in a pinch. Send help.
2. Ivanhoe - no, not the guy in the book. I barely survived that. Specifically the guy in the early 00s TV series 'Dark Knight'. No one's ever seen it except me. It was...interesting. If I find a good vid I'll come back and add a link. But him, him I pine for.
3. Carter & O'Neill, Stargate SG1 - I refuse to separate them, the greatest comrades to friends to lovers (fight me) - what's not to love? But adding:
4. Vala Mal Doran - would I watch Claudia Black sit and read the telephone book? Yes obviously I would, but Vala in particular as a character hits just the right combo of looney / survivalist / occasional moments of heartbroken that gets to me.
5. Mulder & Scully - they're a matched pair yr'honour, it would be cruel to separate them. Must adopt together.
6. Josh Lyman - also not sure I can separate him from Donna, or from Sam for that matter, but again with the growth.
7. Illya Kuryakin - now, obviously, David McCullum, I would and will watch him over & over again. But I'm also not going to pretend I didn't love and adore Armie Hammer's interpretation. Luckily my brain is very good at the massive separation of actors vs. characters.
8. Luke Skywalker - see above. Would I take Harrison Ford over Mark Hamill? Every single time. But I would take Skywalker over Solo.
9. Just...all of them - Primeval - Connor has the best massive Nerd -> Survived a Year in a Tree Fighting Off Dinosaurs character arc, but couldn't have done it without Abby. See also Captain Guns Guns (Protect the Smol Girl), Ms. Smol Girl and Mr. Accidentally Fell in Love with a Victorian. I love the whole batty crew of them.
10. I'm taking this as a free space that can be either Lachlan French or Sir Maurice Newbury or Revelstoke Templeton-Vane or... I don't even know. I have a type.
In honour of my finally getting my flat under 25C

by Carmen Marchena
Screw that, it's 90 degrees inside my house, I don't know what to even do with myself...
“Hot and bothered” in the sense that it is 90 degrees out and I am extremely annoyed

Look, it's not complicated: London did this -

...and inside my flat did this -

...so I went here:

...and watched some clouds do this:
