Much as I love The Red Wedding, I have to say it…

There should have been two wedding cakes. It would be such a nice callback!
Soo the ritual thingy

Can we all talk about how fucking scary this situation must've been for Amaya. First they put some staff in front of her and they begin some ritual and the only information she got was ,,you have to look! If you want to live you have to look into the light". And after she does so she went temporarily blind. Meaning she had no idea what was happening to her nor around her. So when Janai led her away she didn't even know if she's going to live or not. Yes she did look into the light but she still had no idea what was supposed to happen in the first place so she didn't have any confirmation she'll be ok. Heck she didn't even know that the blindness was temporary. For all she knew she could be blind forever meaning even if the elves decided to let her live she would probably die soon, because c'mon blind deaf human in Xadia. That's like putting pigeon without wings into a cage full of cats.
That's all thank you for reading xD
minor spoilers for season 5 of the dragon prince
If you haven’t watched season 5 of the dragon prince, you should.
I binged it all on the plane, obviously, and one scene I find hilarious is one in episode 4, where callum, rayla, and amaya are getting ready to leave, and then janai storms in dressed in full queen regalia, with guards, demanding what the hell is going on, YOU DEFIANT LITTLE SHITS, and callum and rayla are freaking out, and amaya’s just in the back like, lol, don’t worry, she’s just a dramatic little shit sometimes :).
I love them.
Well, I have a recent hyperfixation on the sunfire royal family, so I'd probably just have. More of them. In general. Is this realistic, considering their roles in the story, and the length of the actual story? No, but nobody ever specified being realistic.
Mind you, I'm not talking really changing any major plotlines, I'm just talking one or two interactions thrown in there. Khessa finds Janai in private before they take viren to the sunforge and, you know, all that happens (janai's on her way to tell Amaya the tea, as she did in the show already), and shows some concern for her about something--khessa worries about janai getting soft, worries about her little sister being tricked by the malevolent humans, whatever, just something to show that she really cares for janai? 90% of khessa's screentime is spent condescending to janai and I just want ONE decent interaction before khessa disintegrates.
Oh, and Karim appears in season 3. He was probably meant to be off studying or something in season 3, but it means we don't see too much of janai and karim's pre-war dynamic? Just karim being in the throne room when janai enters with amaya, being the one to back her up about not killing amaya. He calls khessa "sister" so we know their relationship. When khessa's dying, he witnesses it firsthand and manages to escape corruption or death by aaravos; he shows up at the storm spire with janai and amaya, supporting his sister, being suspicious of callum's magic, fighting alongside the troops, yada, yada, yada. A quick scene of him hugging janai or something after the battle, idk. Then in season 4, when he decides he's going to kill her, actually, it's a lot sadder because we KNOW they love each other, we KNOW they had a pre-war dynamic--it's this one ideological difference that prevents them from keeping it.
Plus, more of an emphasis on how karim wants things to "go back to normal." He wants janai to be more ruthless and dismissive of different things, more grandeous and decisive (even detrimentally so), like khessa was. He wants spectacles and ceremonies and fire prisons and what-have-you, and he wants to be his sister's right hand. He doesn't care for humans, or even other elves. He fully buys into sunfire supremacy; he doesn't think that the human soldiers can defeat sunfire soldiers, he doesn't buy that callum is actually a primal mage, he likes amaya well enough, but he doesn't really respect her. Karim, at this point, would have been established to have been at khessa's hand and have her ear, and he wants to occupy the same position with janai, but janai has a different worldview now, and it's not like she's isolated and has only her brother to turn to: she has her (girl) friend, amaya, who's also a human, and amaya's bestie gren, and her new scholar friend kazi (add in a line about how that's "beneath" janai, in karim's head). She was a general, presumably for years; she probably has SOME sort of relationship with the soldiers who served under her. Plenty of whom would have been at the storm spire, fighting alongside humans and being saved by humans and being helped by humans after. The cracks are starting to form in the worldview they've held onto for years and that karim still can't let go of, and, in HIS eyes, his power and position is being stripped away and being given to humans and "lower" elves.
I think this has run away from me, lol...but anyways, more sunfire royal family interactions plssss.
Very Random Thought Experiment
What's something small you would like to go back change about The Dragon Prince? You can't change any major plot points (sorry off screen rayllum breakup/sunfire s4 storyline), or give any dead characters a miraculous return. (copy and paste the starter paragraph, add your thoughts, then pass it on by tagging someone whose change you want to see.)
I'll go first. I would change Opeli. She would serve the same purpose. She would oppose Viren while caring for, supporting, and advising Ezran and Callum so no major changes happen to the story.
BUT her backstory (and by extension, her appearance) will be redone. She is now Opeli, mother to Sarai and Amaya, maternal grandmother to King Ezran and Prince Callum. She will sign insults when Viren's back is turned, and when he's looking. She will hug the king and prince and tell them to be careful and make sure to eat enough; they are still growing boys. In capturing Rayla, she might seem a little too happy to have her grandson's flighty ex-gf in shackles. The scene where Gren hugs Amaya after finding her alive will be replaced with Mamma Opeli shaking Amaya by the pauldrons and shouting "What were you thinking young lady?!" (Amaya replying by signing 'you know it doesn't help to yell') while Gren looks on smugly in the background. And of course, Opeli can be seen giving Janai the side-eye when she holds her daughter's in front of the dragon queen.
@a-certain-elf -any small change you would make?
On one Hand Janai crying and screaming while presumably burning down the tree that housed the sunseed is a bad sign, on the the other hand her riding into battle with Amaya at her side is very good because both of them together are unbeatable. Thats a fact.
It`s the only reason why the narrative breaks them up all the time: They are too strong together.
Even bitchass Karim, Sol Regem, Miyana and Aaravos are gonna fail against them.

A meme based on two funny frames I saw when watching The Dragon Prince. I had the idea, @gemion turned it into an image. XD
(But seriously, @dragonprinceofficial, can we get info about season three soon? Pretty please?)

Anyone who has been to a Halestorm concert knows exactly what I’m talking about.
The Dragon Prince AMV - “Wasted Time” (Skid Row)
Hi all! So, I have been actively working on this video for about three weeks now, and wanted to release it before we got Book Three of The Dragon Prince. Skid Row is one of my favorite bands, and for the longest time I have been unable to hear “Wasted Time” without thinking of characters and scenarios from The Dragon Prince. Hope you enjoy, and I can’t wait for Book Three!
Assorted Thoughts on The Dragon Prince Book Three
Hey guys, TheHappySpaceman here. The Dragon Prince. What more do I need to say about it other than what I’ve already covered in my first two reviews? Well, a lot actually.
I was impressed with the show’s improvement from Book One to Book Two and was super excited for where it was set to go in the future. Since then, I have joined the TDP fanbase and supported the show by making memes, reactions, AMVs, oneshots, and plenty of fanart. However, when info dropped last month about Aaron Ehasz and the workplace environment at Wonderstorm potentially not being so good, I didn’t know what to make of it, and as more and more info came out, I became even more confused. Though the fanbase was becoming incredibly toxic due to the near-constant infighting, I promised myself that I would still stick around for Book Three, seeing how excited I had been for it before the controversy, but I almost wondered if it would be worth it.
So, after so many accusations and hollow words thrown around, and after nine months of anticipation… how does it hold up?

…Oh! Okay, wow, this season was a ton of fun. And yes, it’s exactly as good as I figured it would be after seeing Book Two. Everything I could have hoped for from this series really goes full-force here and it rarely if ever lets off the brakes.

The Story
After a brief intro as exposition, the plot starts immediately after the events of the Book Two finale where Callum and Rayla have entered Xadia and have to face many challenges along the way, including archdragon Sol Regem, Rayla’s hometown, and a rogueish elf thief. All the while, Ezran arrives back to Katolis and has to face the challenges of dealing with being king of a country that he finds in chaos, being pressured to enter war and be the king that Harrow was, while Soren and Claudia are confronted with the decision between helping their own father wage war against Xadia or joining their friends.
The Characters

This season introduced a number of interesting new characters. We got to meet some more dragons, for one thing, and while hearing them speak was pretty jarring at first (they talk normal English, which is strange since we’ve never heard them speak before), it turned out to be pretty awesome in establishing the characters. Most notably, we meet Sol Regem, the dragon who appeared in the opening of the series and was on many of the posters, and I’m surprised how he kind of turns out to be a major dick. Since was on so much of the promo materials for the show, I wasn’t figuring this, but he wound up being a racist jackass who was willing to kill our protagonists, including the young dragon prince Zym, all because of his hatred of humans.

He’s not the only dragon we meet. We also meet Avizandum, otherwise known as Thunder, the late King of the dragons, in flashbacks, and we get to see just how he died. As well, we get Zubeia, Zym’s mom, and Pyrrha, a dragon who Ezran had met in the prior season and befriends. My favorite one might be a nameless dragon who is unchained by Soren and nuzzles him. That’s a really cute scene.

We also meet a lot of new elves this season. Of particular note is Ethari, the Moonshadow elf blacksmith who had been seen in the end credits for Book One and had previously been given the fan name “Tinker.” There was a lot of fan speculation that Ethari was Runaan’s boyfriend and that the two of them raised Rayla together while her parents were gone. Well, this season proves that theory entirely false. No, Ethari is Runaan’s husband. Again, way to go with LGBT+ rep, Wonderstorm (especially since the episode that introduces Ethari was written by a woman in the LGBT+ community)! Ethari’s dynamic with Rayla is also very interesting and shows that he truly does care about her even after her town essentially banished her.

This season officially introduces us to Janai, the Sunfire elf that Amaya was battling in Book Two. I find it interesting how, in many ways, the two characters perfectly mirror each other: Both women are highly dedicated to their duty of their respective countries, and both of them are sisters of royalty, with Janai’s elder sister being the Sunfire Queen. This gives them an interesting dynamic with their interactions. Also of note is Kazi, Amaya’s translator this season who kind of gives off C-3PO vibes. Every scene with them is very funny.

Additionally, this season introduces us to a whole new race of elf: Skywing elves! It only makes sense, since we’ve already met Moonshadow, Sunfire, and Startouch elves; that only leaves two more to go. The two Skywing elves we meet are Ibis, a mage who works directly for the dragon queen Zubeia; and my personal favorite, Nyx, a loveable rogue type of character who our heroes meet when crossing the midnight desert. Man, I love Nyx, and yet, I feel like this season doesn’t do enough with her. I mean, they introduce her in episode four, and then she just kind of disappears after episode six. I was hoping that she’d play a bigger role, especially seeing how hyped up she was in the trailers for this season. Still, maybe she’ll appear again. She played an interesting part as an antagonist and I’d like to see her come back.

Speaking of antagonists, how about this guy? Prince Kasef. Man, the writers wanted to make a real jerk type of character and they succeeded. He’s the warmongering son of King Ahling who takes over after his dad’s injuries from last season. Outside of a cool design, there is nothing redeemable about this character. I’m not faulting the show for this, for the record. It seems like it was the writers’ intention to make him a complete asshole, very comparable to Viren in a lot of ways. Kasef is taken down in a pretty spectacular way, for the record, and it’s hard to say he’ll be missed.

But of all the new characters introduced, to me the real standout character of the season is one of the main leads from all the way back in Book One. Man… Soren is just great this season. After breaking his spine in Book Two, we get to see him go through so much character development beyond just being the dumb comic relief. He starts to question what is right, what side he should be on, and he is put through so much hell in the process, but he comes out better for it in the end. Leave it to the head writer of Avatar: The Last Airbender to make me feel sympathetic for a character like this.
The Animation

Holy crap, the animation in this season is so damn impressive! Bardel Entertainment already fixed the animation in a major way between Book One and Book Two, but this season gives us some seriously amazing moments that I never would have expected from this show after watching Book One. Everything feels so much more fluid this season, even more improved than Book Two in that respect. The backgrounds are downright stunning, too. They feel so real, like you could actually be there with the characters. One of the major gripes I did have with the first two seasons was the facial animation, and how the mouths kind of looked derpy and unexpressive, perhaps due to the CGI medium the characters were animated in. But here, everyone is so emotive and expressive that you can watch the season without audio and still understand what’s going on. There’s a particular scene with Amaya and Janai that I’ll get into later that perfectly shows this. This isn’t only in the mouths, either; we also see little details like characters’ pupils dilating, or the elves’ ears slumping down or perking up depending on the mood. These were little touches that they didn’t have to include, but the fact that they did makes it so much more of an enjoyable watch, because you notice new little details each time you watch it.
The Relationships
I don’t usually have a separate section in my previous season reviews about this, but this season was heavily based on character relationships as much as individual characters, whether they be relationships between family members, friends, comrades in battle, or romantic partners. Just a warning: This section will get into spoiler territory. If you have not watched the season before reading this, I strongly advise you to stop reading and go do that.

The first relationship I’d like to talk about returns to Soren. During the course of this season, he starts to question the morals of his father, Viren, and Soren has to struggle between his duties to his father and his duties to his country as a member of the crownguard. We get the sense that Claudia has always been Viren’s favorite, and that the abuse and gaslighting Soren has to deal with in this season is nothing new and Viren’s contempt for his son has been building up a long time. Soren’s relationship with Claudia strains in this season until, when not wanting to make his sister choose between him or Viren, Soren cuts ties with her. The scene where he says goodbye and leaves is genuinely a heartbreaking one, and in general, you can feel the emotions all the characters are going through.

With Amaya and Janai, the two form a mutual respect over the course of the season. Amaya defeats Janai at the breach, but when seeing that the Sunfire general is hanging for her life, she ultimately saves Janai from dying. As the days go on and Amaya becomes a prisoner, Janai defends her against the Sunfire queen and they soon form a friendship that hints that it might lead to something more. But the scene that really increases the characters’ development is when Aaravos straight-up murders the Sunfire Queen. This sends Janai into a rage and she runs in, willing to risk her own life to avenge the death of her sister, but Amaya tackles her to the ground and gives her a solemn look of understanding, of knowing how it feels to lose her own sister. This little exchange is very powerful. I’ve always said that a scene is effective if it manages to give you chills without any dialogue, just letting the music and animation speak on its own, and, well, this scene passes that test. (Major shout-out to Frederik Wiedmann’s score, by the way; it really shines in this entire season.)
And… well, okay, there’s no use dodging it anymore. Let’s talk about these two.

Rayla and Callum. Oh boy. So, remember in my last review how I said it was likely that Rayla and Callum were going to get together by the end of the show? Well, since this show has a planned seven-season run, I was expecting it to happen way later, like in Book Six, or more likely for them to pull the Last Minute Hookup thing where they confess their love and finally kiss at the end of the last season. That trope always frustrates me, but it’s a good way of stretching out the romantic tension for as long as possible to keep fans interested, so I figured that’s what was going to happen, right? Well…

Yeah, I went into this season expecting a slow burn, but instead we got a freaking forest fire. Holy crap, I was not expecting them to hook up this early in the show. And it didn’t happen in the last episode, either; no, they shared their first kiss in episode four, smack in the middle of the season. And you know what? I’m all for that. The writers handled their relationship really well and it felt surprisingly believable and not rushed despite happening so soon. It hasn’t been confirmed how long Callum and Rayla have known each other for, but I’ve calculated that it’s been anywhere between 20-30 days since they first met, which is more than enough time to fall in love. Part of why it works is that the dynamic didn’t really change much. They already had a beautiful friendship, and the only thing that has changed between them is that there’s now more kissing. I wouldn’t have depicted their relationship any other way if I had made it canon. This does open up the question of where they’re going to go with it in future seasons, but as usual, I trust the writers not to screw it up. I may honestly dedicate a whole post to why Rayla and Callum’s relationship works, but we’ll see if I have time for that.
Other Stuff (incl. spoilers)
For the most part, the humor in this season is on point. With the exception of an oddly-placed fart joke in episode two, I found myself laughing at most of the scenes where I was supposed to laugh. Highlights include Soren putting stacking three pieces of bread to make a “bread sandwich,” Callum seeing a boomerang and finding it “oddly familiar” (hi, Sokka), and Nyx taking the dragang (Callum, Rayla, and Zym) past a magical forcefield protecting an oasis, saying, “Anyway, here’s the wonderwall.” I had to do a double take with that because I was laughing so hard. Though I think my personal favorite may be when Ibis laughs at Callum because “humans can’t do magic” and Callum does this.

Just, the look on his face. He’s so done and it’s hilarious.
One thing I was surprised by in this season was the sheer amount of violence. This one really does feel like an all-out war. Apparently, the violence was enough to get it rated TV 13 in some countries (though it’s still listed as TV Y-7 here) and honestly, I can see why. There’s an all-out battle scene in the last episode that could be compared to the climax of Return of the King. Everyone is fighting each other; even the Baker from Book One gets a few punches in there! Not only that, but there are a huge number of onscreen deaths in this season. As previously mentioned, we get to see the Sunfire Queen be Thanos’d. Prince Kasef gets a pretty spectacular death when Queen Aanya has a Big Damn Heroes moment and shoots an arrow through his head. Not to mention that we get to see Viren die not once, but twice! Even though Claudia resurrects him using dark magic, it’s still pretty great to see because he’s a turd. (No offense to Jason Simpson, though—love ya.)

By far the hardest death scene to watch, however, is the death of Avizandum, the Dragon King. In the flashbacks, we get to see how Harrow and Viren killed him, and, well… it’s really painful. The death, by way of petrification, is shown to be slow and agonizing, and Avizandum is shown tearing off his wings in a futile attempt to survive just to make it back to Zubeia. Even Harrow is mortified, with a look of “Oh god, what have I done?” on his face. In his last moments, Avizandum sheds a tear knowing that he will never be able to see his son grow up, and we as the audience are given a grim reminder that everyone… is a person. Even our enemies have families they care about. Avizandum may have been a gigantic, powerful dragon who hated humans, but at the end of the day he was still a dad who wanted to protect his son.
My One Complaint
Okay, so I’ve talked about everything I love about this season, and how it has significantly increased the show’s potential. With all that said, why can’t I give this season my full props? Well… I’ll be honest, it’s because of the pacing. Remember how I said this season rarely if ever lets off the brakes? Yeah, that’s both a blessing and a curse. There are a lot of people online who believe that Rayla and Callum’s relationship was rushed, and I somewhat agree with them, but only to the same end that everything in this season felt rushed. Nine episodes just isn’t enough time for each season. This has been a problem I’ve had with previous seasons, too, but here, it felt especially rushed because so much happened in this season that it felt like we couldn’t dedicate enough time to everything. I’m not saying that every season needs to be twenty episodes long like Avatar—especially since, with four more proposed seasons, we’re already supposed to be getting more episodes than Avatar if all goes according to plan—but 10-13 episodes per season would probably be beneficial for future ones, especially since future arcs of the show are overall going to be shorter (only two seasons each instead of three). Or hell, maybe make the episodes longer. Of course, if that’s my biggest gripe with this season, then we still have it pretty good, let’s be honest.
Where Do We Go from Here?
So, the question remains, where does the show go from here? There are supposed to be four more seasons, but the final episode of Book Three, titled “The Final Battle,” honestly feels like a series finale in a lot of ways: There’s a big epic climax, Rayla and Callum are together, Zym is reunited with his mom, and the elves and humans have formed an alliance, if only temporary. It all seems too easy, doesn’t it? My guess is that this was meant as a pseudo-series finale just in case Netflix doesn’t renew the show for a fourth season.
However, as I’ve rewatched the season, I noticed that they still leave a lot of loose ends. Most notably, Aaravos is seeming to metamorphize and grow outside of his mirror. Judging by how Aaravos really let loose in this series, I can’t wait to see more of him as a villain and find out about his backstory. Also, Rayla was ghosted—or banished—from her hometown after failing her mission in Book One. Will she ever be able to go home again? On a related note, what did happen to her parents? Are we to assume they were trapped in coins like Runaan (and speaking of which, will Runaan ever get out)? There are also other unresolved plot points, like Claudia’s path down the road of dark magic, Viren’s ex-wife, and Callum’s dad. The last one is especially interesting to me, since it would be cool to know if Callum is secretly half-elf, which is why he knows how to do primal magic. Oh, and my question from last season about whether Harrow’s soul is in Pip’s body still remains. So it seems like they left enough open-ended so that they could continue with a new season.

I do hope to see how Rayla and Callum’s relationship develops in the future, though that may just be the shipper in me talking. But in all seriousness, this does open up some potential. As far as we know, Rayla and Callum are the first human/elf couple, so how is that received? Will they be judged by others? Will certain problems arise from this? I hope the upcoming seasons explore this and don’t just pull the usual romance clichés, though the writers have been pretty good at avoiding those so far.
I also have to wonder: When interviewed, the creators of The Dragon Prince said that there would be a time skip between Book Three and Book Four, since each of them is part of a separate story arc. How much of a time skip will it be? I can’t imagine that it will be over a year, but if it is, I hope they don’t do one of those things where since the main cast is too old now, they replace all the main characters with new ones and expect the audience to get invested in them. I highly doubt they will do that, though. It would be too jarring.
Conclusion
If you have been sleeping on The Dragon Prince, I highly urge you to check it out. Book Three is everything I had hoped the first two seasons would be, and more. With fantastic animation, likable characters that go through unique development, and a downright beautiful score (seriously, major props to Frederik Wiedmann), it wonderfully wraps up the first major arc of this series. I hope Netflix renews the show for all seven seasons, because this one has left me wanting more.

Viravos (Viren/Aaravos): You are a firm believer in the inherent eroticism of taking over the world.
Virrow (Viren/Harrow): You got quite the kick out of hearing Harrow say, “On your knees.”
Janaya (Janai/Amaya): You secretly want an elf GF who can kick your ass… and you’re female.
Gremaya (Gren/Amaya): You just wanted good things for Gren, and really, who wouldn’t?
Ruthless: That’s a bad pun and you should feel bad.
Not sure if this has been done before, but here’s my take on the “What Your Favorite Ship Says About You” meme, with ships from The Dragon Prince. (Inspired by this video.) Enjoy!
Soultember Prompt 5: Color one from 2018 list
Fandom: The Dragon Prince
Summary: People are colorblind until you see your soulmate for the first time. Amaya never expected to be looking at her enemy as the world lit up around her.
The breach had never looked so beautiful. It had always been a place of death and fear but right now it was lit up by color. It stunned Amaya for a moment, the color that erupted from the lava.
The moment of admiration quickly faded to dread. Why here? Why now? Why, her? The general looked back to her opponent, a skilled Sunfire elf. She looked just as surprised.
Then the elf drew her sword. It was colorful, the blade being different shades of, green? No yellow. It looked lively in the same way that Sairi had told her.
Amaya drew her sword. She looked at it, curious to see how it changed. Nope still gray. Something seemed wrong about fighting the women you're destined to love.
Even if they were soulmates they were enemies first. They attached each other but both soldiers couldn't help but get distracted. The bright colors that surrounded them, the overwhelming feeling of the world looking so different.
The colors were the only destination. There was something alluring about the elf. Every part of Amaya felt that this was wrong. It felt traitorous to feel that way.
When their fight ended Janai wandered around, taking in the sights of the world.
Amaya wasn't going to tell anyone. But when she arrived at the base and saw Gren she couldn't help but smile. He looked good in color. His hair was definitely not what she had been expecting. It was like a lighter version of the lava.
'What are you so smiley about?' Gren signed.
'Just happy to see you' she replied.
Gren smiled. That was sweet.
Amaya's smile slowly faded. She didn't want to lie. Gren was her closest friend, she should tell him. He was unwavering in his optimism, he'd find the positive.
Then she looked at him. She had to come to terms with it first. She couldn't tell Gren, at least not yet.
For the next few days Amaya wondered about the elven stranger. She was a good fighter, strong, beautiful, and dangerous.
When night fell that day, the general rode up to the breach. She knew it wasn't a good idea but, she had to know. When she got off her horse, she went to where the two had met.
And she wasn't the only one there. The elf sat near the edge of the path. She looked gorgeous. It pained Amaya, finding beauty in Xadia. She hated it, she hated her self for it.
Then the elf stood. Amaya waved. The soldier looked at her, "what are you doing here?" She asked.
'Looking for you' she signed.
"What?"
Grabbing a piece of paper, a feather, and an ink well, Amaya questers to the ground. Unsure the elf walked over and sat down. Then the human did.
Amaya grabbed the feather gently and wrote, 'Im deaf.'
The elf looked at her and reached her hand out for the pen. She took it and dipped it in the ink. 'Okay'.
Amaya took it back. 'So, you're my soulmate?'
'And you're mine?'
They looked at each other.
"This alone is treason." The elf sighed.
'It is' Amaya wrote. 'What's your name?'
The elf grabbed the feather carefully, 'Janai.'
'Im Amaya.'
"Amaya" Janai said. It sounded right, saying her name. She hated it in the best way she could.
Maybe this would be okay. Everything had to be okay. Fate wouldn't be so cruel as to connect them only to have it be impossible to love each other right?
'Do you like color?' Amaya wrote.
The two's hands touched as they exchanged the feather. 'I do, do you?'
'I do. Got a favorite?'
"I'm not sure what it's called but-' then she pointed to a color on her armor.
'Yellow?'
"How do you know?"
'My sister used to tell what the colors looked like. She said it was bright and lively; the color of the sun.'
'Oh, you have a sister?'
Amaya nodded sadly. She grabbed the pen and dipped it into the ink. 'She's dead.'
"Oh, I'm so sorry."
Amaya didn't say anything.
Janai grabbed the pen softly, 'What's your favorite color?'
She pointed at the color of her armor, 'blue.'
"How did she describe blue?"
'The color of the sky and of the ocean but also sadness.'
Janai tried to look at the sky but clouds blocked her way. They stayed over the breach, making the area darker than the rest of the land around it.
'If you want we can take a walk? I can tell you what color some things are. If I'm right anyway.'
Janai looked unsure, "to do that we'd need to leave the breach."
'Then I'll follow you'
"Are you sure?"
Amaya nodded. She stood up and extended her hand out for Janai.
Janai led the way. It was the first time in nine years that Amaya had been in Xadia. It felt different being there just to talk instead of going to kill.
Deep down she knew this wouldn't be the last time she'd be in Xadia to see Janai and the more she thought about it, the more she was okay with it. Fate would have brought them together for a reason and maybe that reason was simply to love each other.
ID LIKE YO INTRODUCE ALL MY FOLLOWERS TO THIS LOVELY STUFFED ANIMAL THAT I JUST GOT A THE PHILLYS GAME
HER NAME IS AMAYA NAMED AFTER THE OH SO GREAT HOT AND POWERFUL GENERAL AMAYA FROM THE DRAGON PRINCE (which you should go watch it’s amazing and season 4 is coming out in November)
IF YOU HAVE ANY CLOTHINGS IDEAS ILL SEE IF I CAN MAKE THEM AND ILL PUT THEM ON AMAYA!
THIS IS HER:

General Amaya from the dragon prince with reader who refuses to talk to her until they learn/perfect sign language. Reader doesn’t tell anyone why until Calum and Ezren start to braid reader ask why they wont talk to there Aunt Amaya. So once readers has had enough yelling they yell back saying that they want to perfect sign language first so they don’t need to worry about not understanding anything General Amaya is saying and because we have a crush on her. Once they learn this they give her lessons and help her learn sign language and is helping us make excuses to why we don’t talk to Amaya. The excuses will be really dumb though and Amaya knows that they know why we don’t talk to her and tries to get them to tell her but there lips are sealed. After a couple months of this we finally prefect sign language and it’s the day to finally go up to her and introduce ourself. We’ve practiced over 100 times with the princes and we have practiced what we are going to say when she asks why we didn’t talk to her until now. Once we introduce ourselves Amaya asks why we didn’t talk to her and we say mostly the truth besides the fact that we have a crush on her. She thinks it’s really stupid a dumb but whatever. She can also tell that there’s more then that but she doesn’t want to push it. Then another couple months later we are practicing confessing to Amaya about how we really like her and that that was another reason why we didn’t talk to her in the first place. We are just practicing with Calum and Ezren and it was going well until Amaya walks in and we don’t notice so she sees us practicing and asking Calum and Ezren if it’s a good confession and she makes herself known and sign that it is a good confession and that she’d love to go out with us. And we just faint because we wherent expecting it and everything. The princes are just laughing at us and Amaya just rushes over to us. It becomes a good memory and is shared at our wedding a couple years after all of that.

Now onto the story!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Amaya and Y/n had just gotten back from a long day at work. It had been stressful, sun fire elf’s had tried to cross the border to do who knows what. Generals Y/n and Amaya +2 troops where able to scare them off with minimal injuries too, which never happens. weren’t that lucky. Because of that fact Y/n didn’t let down her guard until she got got home with her lovely wife, Amaya, who she’d been fighting along side of just 30 minutes prior.
Amaya could tell her wife was still on edge even though the fighting was over. She didn’t try to get her attention or sign to her that its alright and they weren’t followed because she knew her nerves would be settled once they got to there house. Once they got home, about 40 minutes after the fighting, Y/n nerves settled right down and Amaya smirked. She hmph’ed in satisfaction. Her wife was too predictable for her.
A light gasp leave Y/n mouth as she turns around, turns Amaya, her lovely wife, then signs ‘Did you really just hmph me? You’re lovely wife?’ He says while having a surprise and betrayed look on her face but Amaya knows her too well. She knows she’s just joking so she smiles. As she was about to respond, y/n turns 80°, then catches Ezra, there lovely daughter.
“Mommy!! Mom!! How was work?! Did anything interesting happen at the border today?! Can you tell me about them?!” Ezra says while having a huge smile on her face and hugging her dad.
“Yes yes lovely, some very interesting things happened today. I’ll tell you about them once you are ready for bed since its past your bed time. Its 10pm! You should be in bed! Your bed time in 9pm young lady.”
As there conversation continues, Amaya is just silently watching while lip reading and leaning against the wall of there house. Once y/n is finished talking to Ezra, she put her down and she ran upstairs into her room to, what Amaya presumes, get ready for bed so she can hear all about there day.
‘We really need to get Ezra into sign language classes.’ Amaya signs once her wife is looking at her.
‘Yes we do. We’ve been slacking in that. Ok now that Ezra is going to get ready for bed…’ Y/n sign leaving it as a unfinished statement. Then right before Amaya had any time to question it, her wife picks her up bride style, kisses her, and walks up to there room.
When she puts her down, Amaya signs that they should probably get out of there armer.
‘Yeah we should its all sweaty and gross. It needs to air out before the morning.’
‘Yeah’ Amaya signs back with a laugh of sorts bubbling in her chest.
After about 10 minutes, Amaya and y/n are out if there armed and into there pjs. Thats exactly when Ezra comes running into there room yelling “MOM MOM!!! TELL ME ABOUT YOUR DAY!!”
“Ok ok hun!! Lets go to your room so I can put you to bed after.” Y/n says as she picks her up and boops her nose. Amaya smiles at them as they leave the room. Then she flops down on the bed, smiling.
After about 20 minutes her wife comes back and lays in bed with her. ‘We should get to sleep while we can. There’s going to be a thunder storm. You know how much Ezra hates those.’ y/n signs after laying down.
‘Yeah we should. Also come closer I want to snuggle with you while we can. Good night, love’
‘Of course I will. Good night to you too. I love you’ Y/n says with a little chuckle.
They am get about 3 hours into the night, or well morning now, before Ezra come sprinting into the room, banging the door wide open, making a lot of sound. That put both parents on high alert sitting up as fast as they can. Ezra jumps into there bed and snuggles info her dad.
“Hey hey, dove what hepp-” Y/n was cut off but a loud crackly of thunder and a bright flash of light. The moment that happened, both parents knew what was wrong. Ezra got scared of the thunder and lightning, so she ran to her parents, who could protect her from everything.
“Oh honey, you don’t need to be scared. Your mom and I will protect you from anything alright? Alright.” Y/n says comfortingly while hugging Ezra closer. Ezra nods as her dad finish’s the last of his sentence. Amaya just rubs her daughter back, knowing she cant really sign anything because he daughter doesn’t fully understand sign language yet. After a couple of minutes of Ezra still not calming down, Y/n has a perfect idea that’ll get her to not only calm down but also sleep.
Cuddling.
“Hey Ezra, do you want to have a cuddle party with your mom and I? We’ll even sleep in today!” Y/n says as she looks at Amaya. Amaya catches on and nods understandingly.
“O-ok” Ezra responds, in a scared and unsure voice. Her father just looks at her with a bit of pity, before leaning back onto Amaya’s and her bed, putting Ezra in between them. Once all three got settled into place, Y/n starts humming a lullaby. Ezra falls asleep immediately between her parents protective arms.
When the sun starts to rise, both Y/n and Amaya stir awake, look and each other, then go back to sleep, silently agreeing that they will just take the morning off from work to spend it with Ezra.
