my thoughts on bts being invited to perform on mtv unplugged
telepathy being the opener with it's upbeat sound and vibe is so accurate because the message of the song is literally just them asking us how we're feeling through times like these and that they're here for us no matter what through their songs
and then comes blue and grey which, as taehyung said, captures his feelings about feeling so distant with the people he wants to be with the most (armys) and that there will be times where feeling blue like that is something that should be acknowledged for us to move forward
fix you playing after blue and grey for me symbolizes how it's not just taehyung who's feeling like that, that they all feel it too and in the midst of it all, they found comfort that they're together and that they will be with us in the future too. fix you not only perfectly captured the essence of bts' message to the world but it also showed the best of bts vocal-wise; they can all sing and they all contribute to the musicality that bts is giving us today it's truly the perfect cover choice
life goes on playing right after b&g and fix you literally felt like the first breath of fresh air that you take after crying your all and even though you still struggle to breathe through it you remember you are breathing!! and that you're trying your very best!!
bts ending their setlist with dynamite just like they did with the original tracklist of BE, knowing that the times of doubt and worries are behind us now, and that we should only have fun now and try to see the best things we have in life right now.
this is how i think singularity depicts the pain and strength that comes with love.

this is my first entry for the first ever #worsdbybangtan event!! thought i'd share this here too for keeps <3 check my original post here
as someone who only became an army recently one of the first thing i did is to listen to their music & the visuals that come with it. as i start from the beginning, i saw bangtan's love has a strong presence already, showing their love for music & their desire to let people know.
it reflects throughout the eras that followed but as time goes on, the music & words start to sound new, as if whoever wrote it is trying to break free from the version of themselves that has created the songs from the previous eras, but not straying away from the love they had.
this is where singularity comes in. despite the sound being almost sensual, its lyrics beg to differ. from the very beginning, the second line tells that they have suddenly woke up from their sleep.
i like to think that this also symbolizes a new persona for the person, with new beliefs, ideals and even state of mind. whoever they were before they ‘fell asleep’ isn’t the same person they have become once they ‘woke up’.
the whole song also uses the imagery of an iced/winter lake to describe the pain the person feels, as extremities in a weather like this are physically painful that it does not let you think straight.
i like to think that the person ‘throwing their self’ into the lake symbolizes their resignation to the pain being caused by the love, but not trying to run away from it.
despite the pain the love brings, they know they are surrounded by its coldness that running away isn't an option. at least, not for now.
at the last few lines of the song, the person tries to grasp some warmth from all of it. they start to acknowledge that it may be hard & unbearable now, but there will come a time when the pain will end, slowly melting and slipping past every hole & crevice of their ruined being.
love, despite the pain it brings, is something we have all learned to endure because it is the very core of what makes us as a person. whether we think it’s real or not doesn’t matter, as long as we realize that its something we’ll keep on doing no matter what everyone says.

bts and every other asian trying to make something of themselves outside home doesn't deserve all the hate and xenophobia they're getting from the industry they're just people with an intense love for their craft T_T
read the gd lyrics !!

they don't deserve moonlight, the song that made yoongi question if he really has changed despite the moon and his dreams staying the same. they don't deserve honsool, the song he described as him getting away with his life now even just for a while, because he came to understand that despite everything he has achieved he still deserves a break every now and then just like any other person out there trying their best. those two & almost the rest of his discography does not talk about dissing anyone if only y'all can take a hot sec to read the gd lyrics !!

it's a scary thing for artists sometimes to say they want to try something new because people who listen to them tends to have a set preference for them, but yoongi is actually amazing for breaking through that barrier and just going, "fuck it i wanna try it so i'll do it" and just embracing change. if he likes something he'll learn for it and try to make something out from it. if he doesn't, he'll still be glad he got to try it because it further expands his horizon in the field which could be useful for him in future endeavors.

TRUTH but also... him evaluating his voice as clean is so accurate because in their songs his voice always stands out with how natural-sounding it is and how it doesn't need much editing or accompaniment to make his voice stand out... its just his pure, unfiltered, silver vocals.
stumbled upon yoongi's first fancafe post and :(

yoongi asking 'everyone, you will come to the showcase/first show, right?' 'we will have fun together right?' reminded me so much of telepathy's 'everything's alright, right? you're all healthy, right?' because ever since then he loves talking to us :(

love it when jungkook always adds purple in his art like in the first pic it's literally all over the painting as if it surrounds him and now for the second one it's just in the heart shaped tree as if it's the love that encompasses his whole heart… i love your art sir
jungkook's art is just so reflective of him and the amount of love he could give… it's beautiful and straightforward but still created with so much care and effort
bts are the only nominees that didnt win on that roster. everyone else has a shining and perfect image bec they won. do u understand how weird that is??? bts doesn't even need to be there. they could've added another winner in the lineup and made it a celebration of sorts. but instead here they are, profiting off their name and their loss and using it to create an image that promotes violence against asians and encourages people to actually enjoy it ??? why is this still a thing ????
one of the art that stood out to me in that article the most was eternal song, in the way that the artist themself has said that 'songs have long been regarded as poems with sound' because it just makes sense as well with namjoon being known as the 'philosopher who raps'
the technique they also used to create the art is also reflective of the kind of work namjoon does as well, with the images of the clouds and mountains as his limit in songwriting and the ceramic as a solid cementation (of sorts) of his work in the industry.

the other one was the umber blue art, in which the artist has quite literally, made the colors bleed into the canvas and seep into the previous strokes, signifying a change in their life and the emotion they felt during that time.
it fits so well with namjoon and his music with bts, what with how they have repeatedly used a lot of their old music as sampled tracks to create new songs, just like how they are painting in a new part of the canvas but letting it overlap with what they've already done before to signify that there is a change and it is something that is very visible to anyone who chooses to see it.
how can we forget about the moonjar!! with its minimal and very refined beauty, creating its most beautiful form. in songs, its important to create them in variations while still remaining true to your identity in creating music. despite having grown tremendously, namjoon is one of the few artists out there who has stayed true and committed in creating music that's reflective of his life, his work and dreams for the future without straying away from their influential roots in music.

.its so mind-blowing everytime i see namjoon being associated with arts especially historical ones because he himself is still making a new historical art movement for korea to take pride of now and in the next generations to come. im so proud.
prod. SUGA from then and now— honsool today, and dreams to chase tomorrow

this is my second entry for the #wordsbybangtan event on twitter!! check out my original post here
in celebration of #MinMarch and this month's WBB theme, i've chosen prod. suga's tomorrow and honsool as my entries! thanks to myglyricbot & doolsetbangtan for the translation and inspo!
after reading the lyrics of both songs, i like to think that yoongi from his early 20s is aware enough of how hard and scary it is to chase for your dreams when the future is nothing but a huge uncertainty. he writes about how his todays and tomorrows look the same, as if living in a cycle he cannot control or end. that no matter how fast or hard he runs forward, he feels stuck in the place he started. despite all his frustrations, he reminds himself throughout the end of the song that he will hope, yet again, for change tomorrow. he even compares his struggles to the moment before the break of dawn when it's the darkest; symbolizing that his struggles will soon make him shine brighter than ever, all because he kept waiting and looking forward for his tomorrow.
now, a few years later, we get honsool. he expresses in the song everything he's feeling now that he is living his dream, along with the consequences that come with it. it's come to a point where his dream starts to take on its realistic facade, making him feel exhausted and worn out like everybody else. who hasn't lived their dream and not feel anything else like this? it's an inevitable process, one that must be felt and experienced every once in a while to keep us grounded. with yoongi, every sip he takes from his drink/s relieves him from the stress, anxieties and fears that binds him with his dream, hence the repeated lines of 'now i'm feeling like i'm flying'. he loves living his dream, but now that he's grown older and more knowledgeable in life, he acknowledges that it's okay to hit the breaks every once in a while when you are already living your dream. it's a necessary process for him to keep himself sane, grounded and human, above all things. his struggles as an artist should not diminish his struggles as a human being and vice versa. at the end of the day, when he's cleared his mind and emptied the bottles in front of him, he will continue floating, and wandering.
waiting for his new tomorrow to come and ground him again.
'i just choose not to look up what bts lyrics mean'
why anyone would deliberately choose to not look up bts lyrics is something i will never understand. they're artists, it's what they primarily do, and their lyrics are so reflective of their experiences not only as artists but also as human beings.
their lyrics are also what makes them so likeable by many, because even though so many artists write their lyrics too, not all of them can be written as relatable as how bts do it. it's written in so many forms, in varying degrees, for everyone to love.
u want something poetic? the hyyh series. something that's thought provoking? the ly and mots series. something simple like a journal entry but just as sentimental too? the skool series and BE IS RIGHT HERE.
their entire discography isn't something to dismiss just because 'you don't feel like reading it', you know. (x)
In great memories there lies the seed of growth.
in honor of the release of film out this month, i have decided to choose two of bts' japanese singles to celebrate and signify their growth not only as artists, but as a group of people who's come to fully accept that their memories grow and gets a life of their own as time passes by. thank you to @kookceptional for the lyrics translation! ♡
you can check out the original post here and the medium article version here

I like to think that there's a certain kind of growth every time we choose to reminisce a memory. They tend to carry so much information about specific moments in our life. Whether we like it or not, they can carry tidbits of the simplest memories such as the feeling of flower petals falling down, and the way the sun kisses your skin at the right angle making you glow and shine brighter than the giver itself. This has been a constant lyric in For You, where it symbolizes that most times, these are the kinds of images that we choose to remember. The good ones. The happy ones. The ones where we know that there is at least a happy result waiting afterward for us. All throughout the song, they have expressed feelings of uncertainty, loneliness, and anxiety at times before the awaited moment, which gives us the feeling that being distanced from the person we've created our special memories with isn't a walk to the park. Despite all those, the verses are always ended with assurance and a spark of hope that whoever awaits us at the end of the line feels the same as we do now; feeling and thinking and doing their best to reach us just as much. With Film Out, the person we've associated our memories with is no longer waiting at the metaphorical end of the line. The feeling of uncertainty, loneliness, and anxiety has been repeated yet again, and this time it becomes the theme of the song. This shift in the theme that was already originally mentioned but never fully discussed, is what gives the song a fuller and more meaningful sound. They talk about the longing and the pain it brings now. This differs so much from before, where there is always a constant, tangible memory that's ready to give us the giddy and happy feeling we always do after we anticipate for some things to happen. Now, they cling to the memory, continuously reliving every moment along with every detail in it. This is what makes it so vivid and so believable to our senses that if we try to alter it to even the smallest detail, the memory wouldn't feel the same anymore. It would just become a hollow shell of what used to be. This is what happens at the end of Film Out, where they believed that the memory is happening all over again. They tried to 'reach out', which isn't something they've done in the original memory but because of the constant longing and pain brought by the memory and its giver, they tried to do so. They then get slapped by the harsh reality that it's not real and the memory is just that– a memory. Despite the good and the bad that memories bring, I like to believe that it is what makes us human the most. It helps us to feel, and to be reminded and grounded to our past which could then help us to slowly move forward into a future that we may not envision now, but can definitely happen as long we choose how our life goes on.
