this is how i think singularity depicts the pain and strength that comes with love.

this is my first entry for the first ever #worsdbybangtan event!! thought i'd share this here too for keeps <3 check my original post here
as someone who only became an army recently one of the first thing i did is to listen to their music & the visuals that come with it. as i start from the beginning, i saw bangtan's love has a strong presence already, showing their love for music & their desire to let people know.
it reflects throughout the eras that followed but as time goes on, the music & words start to sound new, as if whoever wrote it is trying to break free from the version of themselves that has created the songs from the previous eras, but not straying away from the love they had.
this is where singularity comes in. despite the sound being almost sensual, its lyrics beg to differ. from the very beginning, the second line tells that they have suddenly woke up from their sleep.
i like to think that this also symbolizes a new persona for the person, with new beliefs, ideals and even state of mind. whoever they were before they ‘fell asleep’ isn’t the same person they have become once they ‘woke up’.
the whole song also uses the imagery of an iced/winter lake to describe the pain the person feels, as extremities in a weather like this are physically painful that it does not let you think straight.
i like to think that the person ‘throwing their self’ into the lake symbolizes their resignation to the pain being caused by the love, but not trying to run away from it.
despite the pain the love brings, they know they are surrounded by its coldness that running away isn't an option. at least, not for now.
at the last few lines of the song, the person tries to grasp some warmth from all of it. they start to acknowledge that it may be hard & unbearable now, but there will come a time when the pain will end, slowly melting and slipping past every hole & crevice of their ruined being.
love, despite the pain it brings, is something we have all learned to endure because it is the very core of what makes us as a person. whether we think it’s real or not doesn’t matter, as long as we realize that its something we’ll keep on doing no matter what everyone says.

prod. SUGA from then and now— honsool today, and dreams to chase tomorrow

this is my second entry for the #wordsbybangtan event on twitter!! check out my original post here
in celebration of #MinMarch and this month's WBB theme, i've chosen prod. suga's tomorrow and honsool as my entries! thanks to myglyricbot & doolsetbangtan for the translation and inspo!
after reading the lyrics of both songs, i like to think that yoongi from his early 20s is aware enough of how hard and scary it is to chase for your dreams when the future is nothing but a huge uncertainty. he writes about how his todays and tomorrows look the same, as if living in a cycle he cannot control or end. that no matter how fast or hard he runs forward, he feels stuck in the place he started. despite all his frustrations, he reminds himself throughout the end of the song that he will hope, yet again, for change tomorrow. he even compares his struggles to the moment before the break of dawn when it's the darkest; symbolizing that his struggles will soon make him shine brighter than ever, all because he kept waiting and looking forward for his tomorrow.
now, a few years later, we get honsool. he expresses in the song everything he's feeling now that he is living his dream, along with the consequences that come with it. it's come to a point where his dream starts to take on its realistic facade, making him feel exhausted and worn out like everybody else. who hasn't lived their dream and not feel anything else like this? it's an inevitable process, one that must be felt and experienced every once in a while to keep us grounded. with yoongi, every sip he takes from his drink/s relieves him from the stress, anxieties and fears that binds him with his dream, hence the repeated lines of 'now i'm feeling like i'm flying'. he loves living his dream, but now that he's grown older and more knowledgeable in life, he acknowledges that it's okay to hit the breaks every once in a while when you are already living your dream. it's a necessary process for him to keep himself sane, grounded and human, above all things. his struggles as an artist should not diminish his struggles as a human being and vice versa. at the end of the day, when he's cleared his mind and emptied the bottles in front of him, he will continue floating, and wandering.
waiting for his new tomorrow to come and ground him again.
In great memories there lies the seed of growth.
in honor of the release of film out this month, i have decided to choose two of bts' japanese singles to celebrate and signify their growth not only as artists, but as a group of people who's come to fully accept that their memories grow and gets a life of their own as time passes by. thank you to @kookceptional for the lyrics translation! ♡

I like to think that there's a certain kind of growth every time we choose to reminisce a memory. They tend to carry so much information about specific moments in our life. Whether we like it or not, they can carry tidbits of the simplest memories such as the feeling of flower petals falling down, and the way the sun kisses your skin at the right angle making you glow and shine brighter than the giver itself. This has been a constant lyric in For You, where it symbolizes that most times, these are the kinds of images that we choose to remember. The good ones. The happy ones. The ones where we know that there is at least a happy result waiting afterward for us. All throughout the song, they have expressed feelings of uncertainty, loneliness, and anxiety at times before the awaited moment, which gives us the feeling that being distanced from the person we've created our special memories with isn't a walk to the park. Despite all those, the verses are always ended with assurance and a spark of hope that whoever awaits us at the end of the line feels the same as we do now; feeling and thinking and doing their best to reach us just as much. With Film Out, the person we've associated our memories with is no longer waiting at the metaphorical end of the line. The feeling of uncertainty, loneliness, and anxiety has been repeated yet again, and this time it becomes the theme of the song. This shift in the theme that was already originally mentioned but never fully discussed, is what gives the song a fuller and more meaningful sound. They talk about the longing and the pain it brings now. This differs so much from before, where there is always a constant, tangible memory that's ready to give us the giddy and happy feeling we always do after we anticipate for some things to happen. Now, they cling to the memory, continuously reliving every moment along with every detail in it. This is what makes it so vivid and so believable to our senses that if we try to alter it to even the smallest detail, the memory wouldn't feel the same anymore. It would just become a hollow shell of what used to be. This is what happens at the end of Film Out, where they believed that the memory is happening all over again. They tried to 'reach out', which isn't something they've done in the original memory but because of the constant longing and pain brought by the memory and its giver, they tried to do so. They then get slapped by the harsh reality that it's not real and the memory is just that– a memory. Despite the good and the bad that memories bring, I like to believe that it is what makes us human the most. It helps us to feel, and to be reminded and grounded to our past which could then help us to slowly move forward into a future that we may not envision now, but can definitely happen as long we choose how our life goes on.
