Listen closely. Your family owns three dogs. In time they could come down to own two. They decide they cannot own three. There is not enough food for three dogs. You see your mother calling someone on the phone. In three hours a woman arrives at the back door with a carpentry hammer. You can see her through the glass in the door. The dogs can see her through the glass in the door. Your three dogs are excited. They are dogs and they love people. Your family is standing behind you as the woman enters through the door. The dogs jump up on her in greeting. They are dogs and they love people. They trust people. She examines the three dogs picking out the smallest one. It is jumping up on her because it is excited. It is a dog and it loves people. She bends down and strokes it over the head with the hammer. There is a cracking sound. The dog is disoriented. It tries to move but can't move its back legs. It is confused because it doesn't understand what has happened to it. It doesn't know why it is hurt. It is a dog and it loves people. It is crawling across the carpet dragging its legs behind it crawling towards you and your family. The woman steps around the other two dogs leans over and strikes the dog again on its head. Your dog dies in the living room next to the back door without knowing why this happened to it and the two dogs are sniffing at your dead dog and they are confused and you do not understand her or your family or anything but he dog on the floor who loved people because it was a dog and you cannot believe what you have just allowed to happen and you are sick.
