~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It's now been two days since you met Hobi and his friends, and today you were going to help them look for supplies. You couldn't quite comprehend why youâd volunteered to go out. You didn't have nearly as much experience as they did when it came to dealing with the zombies. Yeah, maybe it was easier to face them when you were part of a group, but you had been alone up until now.
You had the basic knowledge of how to deal with them, but no amount of preparation or intelligence could take away the overwhelming reality of the current state of the world. The truth is, nothing is guaranteed. There are no promises that could be made in regard to someoneâs safety, theyâd all be empty.
The harsh reality is that at any given moment, one of us could turn into a monster. Whether it happens because youâve been bitten and are now infected, or you simply give in to the darkness inside of you. Either way, becoming something that you donât want to become seems somewhat inevitable at this point.
You already felt it from the moment this mess began. You saw it when you fired a bullet directly into a zombieâs head to save Hobi. Sure, zombies were just a shell of the person that they once were, but they were still a person at some point. A human being with thoughts, feelings, goals, and aspirations. Someone who was loved by others and loved those people right back. You couldnât help but wonder if the only difference between zombies and those who were still alive was as simple as a heartbeat.
There was no time to reconsider the solidity of your moral compass. The boys took you in and you needed to help them. Fresh water and a warm meal was somewhat unheard of these days, but that didnât stop them from doing what they could for you.
You dressed yourself in a pair of jeans, along with a long sleeved shirt and boots before tying your hair up into a ponytail and sliding on a black baseball cap. You gave yourself one final look over before grabbing your gun and heading downstairs. Everyone else was already down there, standing in the dining room. Everyoneâs bags were laid out on the dining table along with various weapons. You were greeted by Jimin who was leaning against the countertop.
âAh, Y/N!â He exclaimed, drawing everyoneâs attention towards you, as he motioned for you to stand by him.
âGood morning, everyone.â You greeted as you joined Jimin.
Much to your surprise, Hobi didnât rush over to greet you as he did the previous morning. Instead, he remained silent as he stood in the corner by Yoongi who also kept quiet as his sight remained glued to the floor.
Great, theyâre both upset with me. You thought to yourself. You understood Hobiâs hesitation when it came to you deciding to join them on a supply run. I mean, you were going in a smaller group opposite of his, and according to his statement to Taehyung the other day, he promised himself that heâd protect you. Yoongi, however, was a mystery. One that you were sure youâd figure out one day, but today was not that day.
âAre you ready?â Namjoon asked as he walked over to you, handing you your bag.
âIâm ready.â You said between a deep breath.
âEach group has a radio, including myself. Theyâre long range so team one and team two will be able to alert each other in case they need help. I wonât be able to hear you all once you pass the halfway point.â He said, referring to the location in between each teamâs destination and the house. âKeep your gun in your back pocket but avoid using it if you don't have to. You donât want to alert more zombies than you need to. I placed a miniature hatchet in your bag, use that if you can.â He finished as you nodded in response.
âWeâll be taking mine and Yoongiâs cars this time, so letâs try to get as much as we can.â Jin added.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You all made your way outside and began loading up the separate vehicles. You were in the middle of sorting through your bag, pulling out the hatchet to have it prepared when you felt a hand on your shoulder. You turned around and were met with Hobiâs kind eyes.
âHi.â He said softly with a weak smile.
âHey. Listen, I know that you want me stay back but-â you began but were interrupted as Hobi gently held up your arm, taking off the bracelet on his wrist and placing it on yours. âWhatâs this?â You asked as you began examining it. It was purple and twine-like with beads that spelled out âhopeâ in the middle.
âThis is my favorite bracelet. I never take it off.â He stated simply, as he kept a gentle hold on your wrist.
âSo, why are you giving it to me?â You asked, a bit bewildered.
âBecause itâs my favorite, which means that you have no choice but to be safe and make it back home so you can return it to me.â He said sweetly, causing you to reach up to wrap your arms around his neck.
âI promise to give it back to you.â You whispered as you pulled away to look at him. He didnât try to stop you from going. Didnât try to argue with you about it. As much as he didnât like it, he respected your decision and accepted it as your own to make.
âWe should get going. Be safe out there, Y/N.â
âYou be safe too, Hobi.â You told him before climbing into the backseat. Yoongi entered the driver's side with Jimin in the passenger. You all gave Namjoon a final wave before pulling off, following behind Jinâs car.
The car ride was silent. Even Jimin, who was typically a ball of energy, kept quiet. It seemed like everyone was nervous about the trip and you couldnât help but wonder if it was the same for the other group.
âNamjoon Hyung, weâve made it to the halfway point.â Jimin spoke into the radio, letting Namjoon know that we would no longer be in contact with him.
Your anxiety arose slightly as the car in front of you made a left while your car made a right. This was it. No going back now. Yoongi drove for a few more minutes before the car came to a stop.
âFuck.â He said, causing you to look out of the front window. The rest of the path was blocked off by a row of cars.
âWhat should we do?â Jimin asked as he looked at Yoongi.
âThereâs no way for us to drive through. Weâre going to have to walk. We arenât too far away from the shop.â He groaned as he began pulling the car to the side of the road before parking. âRadio the other team, let them know that weâre continuing on foot.â
Jimin did as he was told, letting Jin know that our path was blocked and that the only way weâd get through is by walking.
âAlright, we need to move carefully. I donât know if those cars were placed there in an attempt to keep zombies out or people. Either way, we stay alert and donât draw any attention to ourselves.â Yoongi said as he glanced at both you and Jimin.
You hadnât considered that the barrier mightâve been created to prevent people from getting through. The fact that some people were still alive was new to you.
âWhat do you mean, could there be another group here?â You asked him.
âI donât know. Hopefully we donât find out.â He stated simply. You turned your attention to Jimin who seemed as anxious as you were.
âWeâll be okay.â Jimin said and you werenât sure if he was trying to reassure you or himself. Either way, it wasnât very convincing.
You all made your way out of the car, weapons in hand as you began making your journey. Yoongi led the way with Jimin behind and you following. Slowing down as you all came across a sign hanging from a traffic light reading âTURN BACKâ.
âLetâs keep moving.â Yoongi whispered.
As you reached your destination, you all found yourselves staring at the entrance. The doors and windows were all locked and none of you wanted to risk breaking them as itâd alert anything around you.
âLetâs check the rear entrance.â You said, as you began circling the building with the others trailing behind you. The back door was locked as well but you noticed a window to the right side of it that was ajar. It wasnât excessively high up, but thereâs no way that you all could climb through on your own.
âOne of us could climb in through here and open the door for the others.â You stated as you turned to face the two behind you.
âJimin-ah, lift me up. Iâll let you both in.â Yoongi said as he began taking his backpack off.
âNo, I can do it.â You said, handing your bag to Yoongi.
âY/N, are you sure thatâs a good idea?â Jimin asked you with a hint of hesitation in his tone.
âSheâs not going. We have no clue whatâs waiting for us on the other side.â Yoongi stated sternly.
âI wasnât asking for permission. What makes you think that you can tell me what I can and canât do?â You argued.
âIâm the one leading this goddamn team.â He snapped back.
âWell, Iâm the only one with a gun, Yoongi. And correct me if Iâm wrong, but Iâm pretty sure that Iâm the only one who knows how to use one.â You refuted as you looked at the both of them.
Yoongi sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose. You were right and he knew it. You were the only one within your group who could fire a guaranteed shot. âHoseokâs going to fucking kill me.â He groaned.
âY/N, get on my shoulders and see if anything is in there.â Jimin told you, doing his best to cut through the tension. You nodded as you carefully climbed onto his shoulders as Yoongi kept a hand on your back to keep you from falling.
You attempted to open the window more, stopping abruptly and cringing a bit as you heard it begin to squeak. The wind started to pick up, allowing the scent of the room to air out. You began smelling the familiar stench of a rotting corpse, causing you to gag a bit as you covered your nose with your sleeve. It was then that you noticed the amount of dried blood all over the floor and walls.
There were some hidden corners in the room, and you were unsure if a zombie or another person could be occupying them. You were taken from your thoughts as you heard a light growl. You turned your attention to the sound, breath catching in your lungs as you saw it. Out of the shadows, a zombie appeared. It was a male and he looked young, probably in his early twenties.
As he got closer, you saw something that you were sure would never leave your mind. His eyes were gone, almost as if theyâd been perfectly gouged from his head. It was clear that he hadnât done it to himself, as you noticed that his wrists had been zip tied together and a sign hung from his neck reading âTRAITORâ.
As he dragged his feet across the floor, it became evident that he couldnât see you. You looked down at Yoongi who was watching you with a concerned expression, as he saw how uneasy you looked. You said nothing, however. Instead, you raised a finger to your lips, signaling him to remain silent. Namjoonâs words lingered in your mind, reminding you not to use your gun unless you absolutely had to.
You carefully began crawling through the window, attempting to remain as quiet as possible. There was a desk directly below the window with papers and cans scattered around it. Your movements remained slow as you entered the other side, doing your best not to knock anything over in the process. Luckily, you succeeded but now you were wondering how youâd get down without knocking anything over.
You crouched down and placed your hands on the table for support. You managed to guide your feet to the floor and readied yourself, gripping the hatchet in your hand tightly. You took small steps to the creature who was swaying side to side. You felt a hint of guilt as your eyes remained fixed on his hollow, bloody sockets.
âIâm sorry.â You whispered, causing the creature to open his mouth and let out a deep groan. You cut him off as your hatchet made connection with his skull, landing right in the middle. He remained still for a moment, mouth still hanging open before he began to fall. You carefully guided his lifeless body to the floor, refusing to let him go until he was completely flat. You didnât know if anything else was roaming around here, and the last thing you needed was a loud thud giving away your position.
You released a shaky breath that you hadnât realized youâd been holding as you looked at him. He died twice. You thought to yourself. You didnât know who he was or what he did, but you knew that he didnât deserve to die that way. It was unclear if he was bitten before heâd been tortured or after. Either way, he didnât pass away peacefully. He was murdered brutally.
You shook your head as you tried to push away those thoughts, guiding your attention back to the task at hand. You turned to the door, carefully pushing it open to allow the two men to enter. Jiminâs eyes met yours and he quickly came to check on you. It wasnât until that moment that you realized youâd been crying.
âHoly fuck.â Yoongi whispered causing Jimin to turn his attention to whatever Yoongi was looking at.
âHow could someone do that?â Jimin said, now understanding why you were so upset.
âIt doesnât matter. He can rest now. C'mon, letâs get what we need and get out of here.â You said in an emotionless tone as you began wiping your tears.
âSheâs right, Jimin. Letâs go.â Yoongiâs tone was a bit different than it had been before. His words were soft, but there was a hint of sadness coating them. Maybe he was going through the same thought process as you were. You turned to face him. The look he gave you was one of empathy, and he offered you a reassuring nod that you reciprocated.
Yoongi began leading the way once again, cautiously stepping out of the room as Jimin followed. You stopped in the doorway, turning to face the corpse once again. âI hope youâre at peace.â You whispered before following the other two.
You all searched around for supplies, finding various canned goods and some drinks as well. You grabbed some hygienic products that you found scattered along the floor before continuing your search. You paused as you came across some books. You looked around to make sure that the others werenât watching you before directing your attention back to them.
You werenât sure what it was, but something within you felt the need to make amends with Yoongi. Sure, he was being a bit of an asshole earlier, but we were all just trying to do our best to survive. You thought for a moment before grabbing a couple of them to give to Yoongi once you all made it back home, placing them in the front pocket of your bag. You began looking for more supplies again, finding more cans of food hidden underneath one of the shelves.
You stretched your arm out as you tried to reach all of them, your hands brushing against something small and flat. You laughed lightly as you inspected the item. It was a chocolate bar, still wrapped perfectly. You began searching for a date to make sure it was still good, letting out a satisfied hum when you saw that it wasnât expired yet. You placed it in your bag next to Yoongiâs books. You figured you could give it to Hobi when you returned his bracelet to him.
Once you all were certain that youâd properly cleaned out the shop, you began making your way back to the car.
âWe made it!â Jimin said buoyantly as you all climbed into your seats.
You were relieved to say the least, but you still couldnât shake that image from your mind. Youâve seen zombies before and you knew that each of them had a story, but this was the first time that youâd witnessed something so intense.
âIâm going to check on the others.â Yoongi said as he reached for the radio.
âSeokjin Hyung?â Yoongi spoke into the device.
âYeah, are you all alright?â Jin responded rather quickly.
âWeâre okay. Weâre heading back now. Are you guys almost done?â Yoongi asked.
âWeâve just left. See you soon.â Jin said.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The drive back wasnât nearly as silent as before, but the energy was still lackluster.
âI think we should tell the others about what we saw. We donât know if the people who did that are still out there.â Yoongi stated. You didnât want to relive that experience, but you understood where he was coming from. So, you agreed, as did Jimin. If someone could do something like that to someone they knew, then what would they do to complete strangers?
As you approached the house, you saw Namjoon and the others unloading the first car. They all turned their direction to your group, waving and offering big smiles. You barely had time to step out of the car before Hobi ran up to you, embracing you in a tight hug which you reciprocated.
âYou made it!â He said brightly.
âI promised you I would.â You laughed.
âI missed you.â He said as he pulled away, keeping his hands on your shoulders.
âI missed you too, Hobi. Actually, I got you something.â You told him. You turned to grab your bag and opened the front pocket to redeem the chocolate bar before handing it to him. âI only found one, so donât let the others see.â You whispered.
âYou should keep it for yourself then!â He said with wide eyes as he tried to give it back to you, causing you to cross your arms.
âNope, I got it for you. Someone so sweet should have something sweet.â You said, causing him to smile bigger than he already was. You werenât sure how it was even possible, but you enjoyed the view, nonetheless.
âThank you, Y/N! Letâs split it.â He insisted.
âWhatever you want, Hobi.â You agreed, motioning for him to hide it as the others began walking up to you, greeting you with warm smiles.
They were happy to see you, and you were just as happy to see them. You didnât know them well at all, but you still found yourself comforted by their presence.
After everyone unloaded their bags onto the dining table, the boys began looking through everything. Seokjinâs team had a great haul, also finding various canned goods and drinks along with a few snacks like chips and protein bars that were still good. You managed to sneak upstairs to hide the books you grabbed for Yoongi. You placed them in the bedside table along with your gun before heading back downstairs.
All of the items had been put away into the cabinets and everyone was sitting at the table, chatting away as Namjoon finished plating the food heâd made for us. Just like the previous day, you sat in between Hobi and Jimin. Namjoon passed out bowls of soup to everyone. No oneâs bowls were completely full as we needed to make sure things lasted as long as possible.
Everyone began talking amongst each other and this time you allowed yourself to join them. You felt as if you were getting to know them better as they told you about their livesâ when everything was normal, and you told them about yours. Jungkook told you about all of his tattoos, and you two joked about getting matching ones when all of this ended. If all of this ended.
You realized that youâd never given Hobi back his bracelet, and it seemed like he forgot to ask for it back.
âHere, I forgot to give this back to you.â You said softly, holding the piece of jewelry in your hand for him to take.
âYou keep it.â He told you.
âBut itâs your favorite.â
âIt is, but I want you to hold onto it for a bit longer. Think of it as your lucky charm.â
You thought for a moment as you put the bracelet back on. You wanted to give him something in return. Something that would inspire him to stay safe at all costs, because he knew that heâd need to return it to you at some point. It felt like a lightbulb turned on when you realized that your hair was still in a ponytail, and you were still wearing your hat.
âChoose.â You told him, holding both your hat and your scrunchie in each hand. He began tapping his finger against his chin in an animated manner.
âHow about this? Itâs basically the same thing.â He said as he pointed to your scrunchie, causing you to laugh a bit as you slid the item onto his wrist.
âThere, now we both have lucky charms.â
Everyone finished their meals, but we all remained at the table. Far too engrossed in our conversations to be bothered with getting up from our seats.
âEveryone-â Yoongi spoke loudly, drawing everyoneâs attention. âJimin, Y/N, and I witnessed something during our trip that we think you all should know about.â He finished. You and Jimin shared an uncomfortable look with each other. Neither of you wanted to talk about it, but you knew that it needed to be done.
âWhat happened?â Namjoon asked inquisitively.
You guys told them everything. About the cars, the sign in the road, the zombie. Every weird thing that you witnessed. You made sure to avoid mentioning the fact that you entered the building on your own, knowing that Hobi would be pissed at Yoongi and Jimin for allowing it. They didnât express it, but they noticed what you were doing, and they were grateful for it.
âThatâs awful.â Tae said as he sighed deeply at the end of the story.
âYou guys didnât see anyone around?â Jin asked.
âNo, we didnât. We werenât sure if theyâd left or if they were dead now too.â You told him.
âIâm just glad that you all made it back safely.â Jungkook stated.
âThis isnât good. Thereâs no telling how long that guy had been there.â Namjoon said, somewhat stating the obvious. Although, we were all thinking the same thing.
âWhat should we do? I mean, if theyâre still alive and theyâre still around, whatâs to say we wonât run into them?â Jin asked.
âMaybe we should consider moving?â Hobi suggested.
It was an uncomfortable thing to think about, but this was the reality you all were faced with. The people who killed that man could still be alive and for all you knew, they could still be in the area. No one could say how many there were of them. We couldnât just take a risk and assume that weâd be fine.
âItâs something to think about. Weâve talked about going somewhere else when we couldnât find any more supplies, but we never planned for something like this.â Namjoon said.
You all remained silent for a moment as everyone began weighing out the options, not that there was a lot to begin with.
âY/N, I need something from you.â Namjoon said, causing you to sit up and give him your full attention.
âWhat is it?â You asked.
âI need you to teach us all how to shoot.â He stated, causing everyone to turn to you.
âI can do that. We need to find somewhere that we can practice without making too much noise.â You told them.
âI agree. I know we were trying to avoid making two trips this week, but weâre going to need more guns. Ideally, everyone would be armed.â Namjoon said.
âThereâs a shooting range not too far from here. I think that they sold rifles as well for hunting.â Yoongi stated.
âWe can start searching there. Maybe we can find some suppressors as well, itâd make training a lot easier." You responded.
âItâs settled. Iâll go with you and everyone else will stay here.â Namjoon stated.
âShouldnât half of us go? I can come too. Itâs dangerous for both of you to go alone.â Hobi asked.
âIt is dangerous, which is exactly why you all need to stay here. A group is too noticeable. Iâm not sending Y/N out by herself, and I donât know enough about guns. Besides, I stayed back today.â Namjoon told him.
âWeâll be ok. Maybe you guys could try securing the house a bit more? It would give us some extra protection until we decide where weâre going.â You stated to everyone, but you were mainly speaking to Hobi in an attempt to calm his nerves.
âWe still have a few hours of daylight left. We can go now.â You told Namjoon.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Everyone who was hanging back remained at the table, discussing ways that they could secure the house. You ran upstairs to grab your things and headed back down.
âHere.â Yoongi said as he placed his car keys in your hand. âNamjoon doesnât have a lot of experience driving. You can take my car. It has more gas in it than Jinâs.â He continued.
âThank you.â You said as you placed the keys in your pocket.
âItâs no problem. Just donât wreck it.â He lightheartedly joked.
âOh, Iâm going to drive it into the nearest tree.â You said sarcastically, causing him to roll his eyes but you could see the smirk that he was trying to hide.
âAre you ready?â Namjoon asked as he grabbed his bag.
âYep, letâs go.â You told him before quickly making your way over to Hobi. âWeâll be back before you know it.â You whispered to him, trying not to interrupt the others who were still talking.
âI know you will. We still have a chocolate bar to split.â He said, causing you to let out a small laugh.
Yoongi wasnât lying when he said that the range wasnât far. It took less than 10 minutes to get there, which was relieving. You felt as if you and Namjoon could grab what you needed without much trouble. As you parked the car across the street from the store, you couldnât help the confusion building inside of you. The windows were still intact, seeming as if no one had attempted to get in.
âDonât you think itâs weird that no oneâs broken in?â You asked as you turned to face Namjoon.
âA little bit. I think that they may have protective glass. Maybe thatâs why?â He suggested.
âI guess that could be it. How in the hell are we supposed to get in then?â
âWeâll just have to scope out the area. I can try to pick the lock if I need to.â He said, causing you to nod.
As you both made your way to the store entrance, you began looking through the windows in search of any zombies or people, just as Jimin had instructed you to do earlier in the day. Everything seemed perfectly intact. No guns were missing from the walls behind the counter. There was no indication that someone had gone in and trashed the place, it all looked untouched.
âIâm going to check around the back. Maybe thereâs an entry point there.â You told Namjoon as he began fumbling with the lock, letting out a low hum in response.
As you began circling the building you felt as if you were repeating your steps, just at a different store. You knew that history tended to repeat itself, but youâd hoped that it wouldnât happen to you within the same day.
Once you reached the back of the building, you paused for moment and peeked around the corner as you noticed a truck parked in the back. Your intuition seemed to be screaming at you. Sure, there were tons of abandoned cars everywhere, but something in you made you feel as if that one still belonged to someone.
You quickly made your way to the front of the range to let Namjoon know what you saw, but you froze as you reached your destination. The door hung wide open with no sign of the man you came here with. He couldâve easily gotten in on his own, but you knew that he wouldnât have just left you. You took a deep breath before readying your gun as you snuck into the building.
You carefully peeked around each corner as you began heading down the hallway. You slowed down a bit as you heard sounds of a struggle and a voice that belonged to your friend.
âGet the fuck off of me!â He yelled.
âNo, not until you tell me why youâre here. Are you alone?â You heard another manâs voice tell him.
âFor fucks sake I was looking for a gun and Iâm by myself.â Namjoon said. He wasnât going to let this random man know that you were with him.
You peeked around the corner with caution, the manâs back was facing you as he had Namjoon pinned the floor with a knife to his neck. You slowly creeped up behind him, putting the gun to his head and clicking it.
âDrop your weapon and get off of him.â You said sternly, hoping that he couldnât sense the shaking of your hands.
The man did as he was told, dropping the knife beside him and standing up with his hands raised. He attempted to turn around to face you, but you pressed the gun harder against him, causing him to stop with a flinch.
âDonât fucking move unless I say so!â You yelled as you began pushing him, directing him to stand against the wall. You glanced at Namjoon who was trying to catch his breath as he stood up.
âGo find something to tie him up with.â You told him, cocking your head to the side as to guide him.
âL-look, Iâm sorry. I wasnât going to hurt him. I just wanted to know who he was.â The man stuttered.
âDonât lie to me.â You told him.
âWe can work this out! You guys can take whatever you need, and weâll go on about our days.â He pleaded.
âSomething tells me that it wonât be that simple.â You told him.
âI found some rope.â Namjoon said as he sprinted back into the room.
âPut your hands behind your back.â You instructed the man, who did as he was told.
âTie him up.â You directed Namjoon as you kept the gun pressed to the manâs head.
Namjoon quickly did as you instructed him to do, unsure of what the end plan was. To be honest, you didnât know either. You were just trying to find a way to keep the two of you safe without having to injure the man.
âHere.â You whispered as you carefully guided Namjoon's right hand to take the place of yours holding the gun. âKeep an eye on him. If he moves, pull the trigger.â You finished, making sure to state the last sentence loud enough for the man to hear.
Once you were sure that Namjoon was in a good position, you quickly grabbed both of your bags and made your way to the front of the store to fill them up. You grabbed everything that you could including bullets, handguns, suppressors, and the two hunting rifles that were hanging on the wall.
You began loading one of the rifles that was hanging by its strap on your shoulder and headed back to Namjoon. The man was babbling on about any and everything in an attempt to persuade the two of you to release him.
âYou wonât get away with this!â He cried. âMy friends will come looking for me.â
âListen to me-â you said, cutting him off. âWe are going to leave and you arenât going to try and stop us. Iâm not going to kill you, but I promise you that if you or any of your friends try to find us, I will not hesitate. I will kill each and every one of you. Do you understand me?â You growled.
âY-yes. I understand.â He whined.
âGood. Get down on your knees, do not turn around.â You instructed, as you handed Namjoon back his bag.
Once the man was on the floor, you began backing out of the room with Namjoon following you. You quickly closed the door and grabbed a chair, placing it underneath the doorknob before hastily returning to the car and speeding off.
âShit!â Namjoon breathed.
You didnât respond. Too focused on the road and checking your mirrors to make sure that you werenât being followed.
âYou saved my life, Y/N. Thank you.â Namjoon expressed gratefully.
âYou donât need to thank me. You wouldâve done the same.â You breathed, slowly relaxing a bit when you were a good distance away from the building.
âI know, but still. I wouldnât have made it out of there if it werenât for you.â
âDo you think he was being honest about his friends?â You questioned as his words replayed in your mind.
Namjoon signed deeply before responding. Shaking his head lightly. âI donât know.â He admitted as he turned to face you.
You simply nodded as you bit your lip and attempted to fight the tears that were burning your eyes. You knew that you did what you needed to do. The man wouldâve killed the both of you had you not threatened him, but there was still a sense of guilt as you felt your humanity fading.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The two of you walked through the front door, finally relaxing a bit. The others were quick to try and greet you, but you remained silent as you looked at all of the faces around you. Smiles slowly fading as they saw the distressed look on both yours and Namjoonâs faces.
âWhatâs wrong?â Jungkook asked, eyes bouncing between you and the man stood beside you.
âWe ran into another survivor.â Namjoon stated.
You werenât even sure how it happened, but everyone ended up in the living room. Eyes glued to Namjoon as he told them what happened. You, however, werenât listening. Instead, you sat on the floor with your legs crossed as you began looking through the bags and loaded each of the guns. It wasnât until a voice called your name that you looked up. Everyone was staring at you in disbelief.
âY/N?â Taehyung called out softly. âAre you alright?â He asked, his tone laced with concern.
âIâm fine.â A lie. âI promise.â Another lie. Without another word, you returned your attention to the weapons laid in front of you.
âWe donât have much time. I donât know if that guy was being honest or not, but I donât want to wait around to find out. Y/N will teach us how to use the guns and weâll prepare to move.â Namjoon announced.
Thatâs two lives youâve saved. Two lives within the span of two days. You werenât sure what was happening to you, but it seemed as if by the snap of a finger, something changed. You no longer felt guilty. You no longer felt afraid.
Looking at the men around you, the ones you were so grateful for, you felt nothing except determination. Not a single person or thing would come between you and your friends. Each and every single one of you would make it through, together.
There was a sort of lingering darkness within you ever since the news broke out. Most would say that it was normal to feel hopeless in a situation like this, but it wasnât just hopelessness that you were feeling. It was more so a lack of motivation to keep fighting. You were already struggling before and this just seemed like the icing on the cake for you. The final confirmation that youâd been searching for that maybe, just maybe, this world wasnât worth living in.
Your thoughts continuously wandered and no matter how many times you tried to reason, you always found yourself thinking about what you were doing when the news broke out.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Youâd been standing in the kitchen, making your dinner while the news played in the background. It wasnât like you were really paying attention to what the anchor was saying, it just kind of worked as a background noise.
Once you were done cooking and fixing yourself a plate, you went to your living room to find some random movie on Netflix to watch as you ate. You were just about to change the channel when the woman on the screen said something that stopped you dead in your tracks. It was then that you were suddenly interested in the news.
âScientists have confirmed that the dead are coming back to life. The cause is unknown, but they are urging everyone to stay inside and lock your doors. Do not make any unnecessary trips or attempt to travel.â She stated in a shaky tone.
âWhat the fuck?â You said to yourself as you sat your food down and began cycling through channels.
Every station seemed to be repeating the exact same message. The usual programs had been stalled. This was a public service announcement, and not one of those dumb little weather warnings that everyone ignores. No, this was legit. You continued clicking through before settling on one that seemed to be giving new information.
âScientists are warning that these beings are extremely dangerous and have exhibited extreme levels of aggressive behavior. It is important to avoid any contact with them at all costs to prevent further infections. If you or someone you know has been bitten or scratched by these beings at all, please isolate yourself. Due to increased traffic, emergency services are limited.ââ
You leaned forward as the man on the screen paused and held his earpiece. His face dropped and his eyes grew wide as he began looking around desperately, as if he was searching for confirmation. He turned his attention back to the screen and gulped deeply as he began speaking again.
âWe have just been given new information. Emergency services are no longer available at this time. Please be advised that if you or anyone you know has been bitten or scratched, they need to be euthanized. Attack the brain, itâs the only way to stop them. We are alone. God help us all.â He said through a trembling voice as tears began to fall from his eyes.
Just as you were waiting for more information, the program shut off. The only sound playing is static and there are no anchors speaking. The only thing visible is a blue screen with the words âPLEASE STANDBYâ in the middle.
What the fuck is happening? You thought as you returned to clicking through channels, each of them saying the exact same thing. You quickly stood up and walked through your apartment, verifying that every door and window was locked and that all of the curtains and blinds were closed. Once you finished your walk-through, you returned to the living room to grab your phone and call your parents.
It barely got through the first ring before your mother picked up, sounding completely frantic over the phone.
âY/N! Oh my god, honey! Are you ok?â She spoke, sounding as if she was crying.
You werenât sure if the same thing was happening back home when you decided to call, but your motherâs reaction confirmed that this was a worldwide phenomenon. Your parents lived in the United States, but you had moved to Seoul two years ago for college. You only ever went home for holidays, and itâd been months since you last saw them.
âMom, Iâm fine. Whatâs happening?â
âWe donât know. We were driving home from the store and got stuck in traffic. We didnât think anything of it but then we heard screaming. There was a woman walking down the street and she was covered in blood. Some people got out of their cars to check on her andâ âshe spoke through tears before pausing. You could hear your father in the background trying to comfort her.
âAnd what, mom? What happened?â You urged, feeling the anxiety raising as you listened to the cries on the other end of the phone.
âShe attacked him, Y/N. She knocked him down and she looked like she was eating him.â She finished.
You felt your legs give out on you. Luckily, you landed on your couch. You stared at the tv, still stuck on that blue screen. You tried to make sense of it all, but to no avail. You stayed on the phone with your parents for a bit longer. Going through each of the warnings that was on the news and creating a checklist of dos and donâts with each other. You made a schedule to check in with each other every night, making sure everyone was still ok.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Now here you were three weeks later. Lying on your bed, thinking about how quickly everything had changed. You tried to be as conservative as you could be with your supplies, but they could only last you for so long and now you were nearing the end. You barely had food or water at this point, and it wasnât like you could just go to the store for more. If you did, youâd risk facing those things. You havenât heard from your parents in a week, unsure if theyâre even alive at this point. Hell, youâre unsure if anyone you know is alive at this point.
For days you heard screaming from all around you, and like a snap of a finger, it all stopped. The world around you went quiet, and you felt as if you couldnât take it anymore. If everyone around you is dead, then whatâs the point in being alive?
Thatâs why you found yourself in the position that youâre now in. Staring at the ceiling with a small handgun lying on your chest. Youâd asked yourself what the best way would be to do it. You knew that you needed to destroy your brain if you didnât want to risk becoming one of those things, but what if you missed? You blinked slowly as you tried to think it through, snapping out of it as you heard what sounded like yelling.
You slowly got out of bed and walked over to your window, peaking through the curtains. Thatâs when you saw a man running clumsily down the road, a group of those creatures chasing him. He seemed as if he could get away. Thatâs if heâd stop turning around to look at them. Your breath caught in your lungs as you watched one of the things grab him by his shirt, knocking him to the ground and landing on top of him.
You battled with your thoughts as you watched the man frantically hold back the creature. You want to help him but what if heâs dangerous? What if he brings more of those things with him? You were taken from your thoughts as you watched the other creatures get closer to him.
âFuck it.â You said to yourself, quickly opening the window and firing a shot at the creature on top of him, hitting it right in the head. The man froze for a moment before turning his attention to the sound of the shot, his eyes finally meeting yours.
âUp here, quickly!â You yelled as he scrambled to get up and began sprinting towards your building. You rushed out of the front door to meet him, firing more shots at the creatures following behind him as he beelined into your apartment. You quickly followed, slamming the door behind you and locking it.
You rested your head against the wood as you tried to control your breathing. It wasnât until you heard the man speak that you truly processed what had just happened.
âOh fuck!â He panted. You slowly turned to face him. He was laying on the floor, clutching at his stomach as he attempted to catch his breath.
âWho are you?â You asked sternly, causing the man to sit up to face you. Your eyes scanned over his body, searching for any sign that heâd been injured by the creatures. You met his eyes once again when you realized that he wasnât covered in blood at all, just dirt.
âMy name is Hoseok. Whatâs your name?â He asked as he stood up. He was tall and slender. His hair was a mess and he looked like he hadnât slept in days. It was in that moment when you realized that you probably didnât look much better.
âMy name is Y/N.â You said hesitantly.
âWell, Y/N. I cannot thank you enough for saving me. Those things, theyâd been chasing me for a while. I thought I was a goner.â He said through a forced laugh.
âWhat were you doing out there?â
âI was trying to find my friends; we went out to look for supplies, but we got split up after a group of zombies started chasing us.â He said as he began looking around your apartment.
âZombies?â You questioned. Sure, it was obvious that the zombie apocalypse was happening, but you hadnât brought it upon yourself to actually refer to them as zombies. The thought of it all made you feel as if you were living in some sort of bad horror movie.
âYeah, I mean, what else would you call those things?â
âI donât know, I just never considered calling them that.â You shrugged.
You two fell into an awkward silence, unsure of what to do now that you were both stuck in a room with a complete stranger. You looked down at your hands and realized that youâd still been holding onto the gun.
âWould you like water or something?â You offered in an attempt to break the tension.
âYeah, thatâd be nice.â He smiled brightly, seeming relieved that you'd asked him first.
âI donât have much left, but Iâll spare what I can. You can sit down if youâd like.â You told him, motioning towards the couch.
You began searching through your cabinets for something to give Hoseok before settling on a protein bar. You filled a cup with water and grabbed the bar before meeting him on the couch. You sat the items on the coffee table in front of you and slid them over to him.
âThank you so much.â He said with a small bow before chugging the water.
âSo, you said that you were out with your friends. How many are there?â You couldnât help the curiosity. You had convinced yourself that you were the only one left alive in your city and the fact that there are others out there makes you question your previous beliefs.
âWeâre a group of seven. Weâve been staying in an older house we found. It seemed like it was empty, so we just assumed that the owners mustâve been away when all of this happened.â He shrugged.
You fell silent once again, unsure on how to respond. This is the first time youâve spoken to another person since your last phone call with your parents. It didnât seem like that long, but you couldnât stop the feeling of loneliness. Any other time, you wouldâve been fine with a lack of human interaction but something about the world seemingly ending made those connections feel so much more meaningful and you missed it.
âHey, why donât you come with me? We can go back to the house. Iâm sure that the boys have made it there already.â He said as he leaned down to meet your gaze.
You couldnât stop the tears from forming as you saw the gentle look in his eyes. You quickly embraced him, wrapping your arms around his neck. He seemed taken aback at first but soon enough returned the favor, allowing his hands to rest on your back.
âThank you, Hoseok.â You whispered, still holding on to him.
âYou saved my life, the least I could do is save yours.â He said softly. It was almost as if he knew.
You pulled away slowly, letting out a pitiful laugh as you began wiping your tears with your sleeve.
âI guess I should probably pack. When do you want to leave?â
âAs soon as possible, I donât want the boys to worry too much.â He said, causing you to nod before standing up to go gather your things.
You made your way to your room and grabbed a backpack before throwing a few items of clothing in it along with some other essentials, including your phone. You decided to change your clothes as well. Settling on a pair of jeans, a tank top, a hoodie, and some boots. Once you were changed, you tied your hair up into a ponytail and made your way back to the living room.
âIâm ready, Hoseok.â You said, grabbing his attention.
âAlright, letâs go. Also, you can call me Hobi.â He smiled as he began making his way to the door.
âI brought this. I wasnât sure if you preferred a knife or a gun.â You said, holding your hand out to show him the pocketknife you were holding.
âEh, Iâll let you keep the gun. You seem to know how to handle it.â He said as he grabbed the knife, causing you to nod. âOk, weâll need to move as quickly and quietly as possible. The house isnât too far away.â He stated before peeking through the door.
The trip to the house that Hobi and his friends were staying at went surprisingly smoothly compared to the predicament he was facing when you first saw him. You struggled a bit with the way the city now looked. The streets were full of abandoned cars, some of them covered in blood. Various windows were shattered, and doors of surrounding buildings were all open with red trails leading inside. You gagged a bit at the smell. Whenever you watched crime shows, you always heard people talk about how the smell of a rotting corpse was somewhat indescribable, but also unlike anything else, and they were right. You abstained from looking at any of the bodies surrounding you. The fear of potentially recognizing one of them was enough to make you vomit, but you did your best to push it down.
When Hobi told you that the house wasnât too far away, you didnât take into account that you two would be walking and doing your best not to alert anything around you. You assumed itâd take 10 minutes at the most, but an hour later you finally made it.
âHere it is.â Hobi stated as he led you inside, locking the door behind him.
The house was large and oddly clean. You understood now what he meant when he said that he and his friends had assumed that the owners were gone when all hell broke loose. You were taken from your thoughts when you heard footsteps trailing quickly down the hallway.
âHobi?â A voice called out, causing you to turn your attention towards the sound.
There, another man stood with five others following behind him. He looked somewhat distressed, but there was also a sense of relief when he realized his friend was ok.
âHoly fuck, we thought you were dead.â He said as he pulled Hobi into a hug. The others began greeting him and doing the same.
âIâm ok. Actually, I probably wouldâve been dead if it wasnât for my friend here.â Hobi turned to face you, causing the others to look in your direction.
âWho is this?â One man spoke. His hair was dark and tied back into a half-up ponytail. He was muscular, with a sleeve of tattoos covering one of his arms.
âThis is Y/N. She saved my life. I wouldnât have made it back without her.â He said as he grabbed your hand, gently pulling you forward to face everyone.
âHi.â You said shyly as you gave a small wave.
âHi, Y/N. Iâm Namjoon.â Another man spoke, offering a gentle smile as he sensed your nervousness. âThis is Jin, Yoongi, Taehyung, Jimin, and Jungkook.â He continued, pointing to each of the men.
âItâs nice to meet you, Y/N!â Jimin said brightly causing you to smile.
âItâs nice to meet you all.â
âThereâs two of us in each room. Yoongi is by himself so you two can share a room.â Hobi said, causing you to look up at him worriedly.
Yoongi didnât seem mean per se, just not very happy with your unexpected company. Everyone else greeted you with warm smiles, attempting to be as welcoming as possible, but Yoongi eyed you up and down in a suspicious manner.
âDonât worry, thereâs two twin beds in there so you wonât have to sleep with him.â Hobi said through a laugh.
âYoongi Hyung, could you show Y/N where your room is?â Namjoon said, turning to face Yoongi.
He didnât say anything, just began making his way up the stairs as if he assumed youâd be following, which you did. As he walked into the bedroom, you stood in the doorway awkwardly.
âThis oneâs mine. You can take the other.â He spoke lowly. This was the first time you heard his voice. Slightly taken aback by how deep it was. He turned to face you after you didnât respond. A look of annoyance on his face.
âI can see if Hobi is willing to switch rooms if youâre uncomfortable.â He spoke.
âNo, Iâm fine with the arrangements. I donât want to inconvenience anyone.â You said as you set your bag down on the bed.
âYou already have.â He muttered as he walked out. You were sure that he didnât intend for you to hear it, but it still lingered in your mind regardless.
The night was a bit awkward. For the most part, everyone did their best to make you feel comfortable. They insisted that you join them for dinner, despite you saying that you werenât that hungry, and youâd be fine. They even offered you some of the filtered water designated for hygienic purposes. You were grateful to finally not be alone, but you couldnât shake Yoongiâs words out of your mind. Sure, they were definitely doing better than youâd been when it came to supplies, but their conditions werenât ideal either. They remained hospitable, nonetheless.
The night rolled around quickly, and soon enough everyone began to make their way to their designated rooms. Yoongi laid in his bed silently, as he read his book. You wanted to speak to him, anything to break the awkwardness that engulfed the room, but you couldnât find it within yourself to do so. Turning to face the wall opposite of Yoongiâs bed, you drifted off to sleep, deciding that youâd give him as much space as possible.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You woke up to the sun shining through the sheer curtains. Rubbing your eyes and letting out a deep yawn, you sat up and looked around the room. Yoongiâs bed was empty, sheets folded neatly with the book he read the previous night laying on top of his pillow.
You decided to change your clothes back to the ones you wore yesterday, minus the hoodie and went to go freshen up a bit before heading downstairs.
You stopped at the end as you heard what sounded like Yoongi speaking. You werenât really one to eavesdrop but considering the fact that you were now sleeping under the same roof as a group of men you just met, you couldnât help but listen.
âNamjoon, please! Weâre already struggling enough as it is. What are we supposed to do when thereâs nothing left?â Yoongi spoke. Although he seemed upset, his voice remained soft.
âWeâre not throwing her out, Yoongi. I understand your concerns. I have them too, but itâd be wrong to just leave her to fend for herself.â Namjoon refuted.
âOh, come on! She seems to have been doing fine for herself before.â Yoongi stated with a hint of sourness in his tone.
âWill both of you just shut up?â A voice that you knew belonged to Hobi objected. âLook, I know that weâre struggling, but she was too. That didnât stop her from taking me in and offering me what little she had left. We are not going to kick her out. Besides, I made her a promise.â He continued.
A promise? You thought. Sure, everything from the night prior was a bit fuzzy but you didnât recall him openly committing a promise to you. Perhaps it was one that he kept to himself. An unspoken promise that he made without your knowledge.
âWhat do you mean you made her a promise?â Another deep voice spoke, seeming as if it belonged to Taehyung.
It was then that you began wondering if they were having some conference in regards of what to do with you. Did the rest of the boys feel the same as Yoongi? They were all so kind to you that the question of whether or not they minded you being around hadn't even crossed your mind.
âShe saved my life, and I promised that I would save hers.â Hobi said through a stern tone. He was so sweet to you and hearing how serious he was about this had taken you a bit by surprise.
Their voices began fading in and out as they appeared to be speaking over each other, and you seemingly had no clue whether to walk away or to stay where you were. You jumped a bit as you felt a hand on your shoulder.
âY/N-ah, good morning!â You were greeted by Jimin who was sporting a bright smile. You cringed lightly at the knowledge that your cover may now be blown.
âHi, Jimin.â You said softly.
âC'mon, letâs go get some breakfast.â He said in a cheery tone as he threw his arm over your shoulder and led you into the dining room where the previous debate was going on.
As you two walked in, you felt your face heat up. The four men were completely silent, all staring directly at you. It was obvious in that moment, that they knew you had been listening to their conversation. Your eyes naturally shifted towards the direction of Yoongi. He sat at the dining table across from Taehyung, eyes wide as he met your own.
âWhy do you all look like youâve seen a ghost?â Jimin jokingly asked, completely unaware of the building tension in the room.
âNo reason at all. Howâd you sleep, Y/N?â Hobi asked sweetly as he made his way over to you, resting his hands on your shoulders as if he was trying to create a barrier between you and the other three he was speaking with.
You looked up at him, the anxiety building in your chest. His eyes werenât as bright as theyâd previously been, yet he still looked at you as softly as he had before. His expression was one of compassion as if, without words, he was telling you not to worry about a thing. Feeling yourself relax a bit in his hold, you offered a weak smile before speaking.
âI slept fine, Hobi.â
Almost like clockwork, Jin and Jungkook made their way into the kitchen as well. Also seeming completely oblivious to the tension in the room.
âIâm starving!â Jungkook groaned as he made his way to the dining table.
âMe too, letâs eat.â Namjoon said with a clap.
During breakfast, everyone fell into their own conversations. No one dared to speak about what happened earlier. You sat in the middle, between Hobi and Jimin, who were laughing about old memories they had before the world went to shit. Across from you sat Yoongi, who remained silent with his head down as he picked at the scraps of food on his plate.
After everyone finished eating and cleaned up, Namjoon called for a âfamily meetingâ. Much to your surprise, you were invited to join. Sat on the table were various pieces of paper, and a calendar that you could only assume belonged to the previous owners based on the markings that were on it.
âWe need to discuss this weekâs schedule. Obviously, our last supply run went to shit. So Iâm thinking that we may need to make an extra trip to make up for itââ Namjoon began. âAlso, now that thereâs eight of us, we should decide who is responsible for what this week.â He said as he slid a sheet to the middle of table labeled âChoresâ.
Everyone began discussing who would be responsible for what this week, but you werenât quite sure where you would fit in. For the most part whenever someone would ask what you wanted to be a part of, you sided with accompanying Hobi with whatever he was doing as it felt like the safe thing to do. Luckily for you, most of the chores were done in pairs so it worked out. Everyone agreed that itâd be best to send four people to do supply runs rather than the whole group, although no one could decide on how the groups would be split.
âI just donât think itâd be fair to send someone out twice this week.â Jungkook stated.
âWhat if we just draw names or something?â Jin suggested. You listened as everyone began bickering about the arrangements, but it was hard to keep up as everyone spoke over each other. It wasnât until Yoongi started speaking that everyone piped down.
âWhy donât we all go out instead of making two trips this week? We can do a group of four and three and one of us can stay back. Each group will head in a separate direction, and weâll meet back up here.â He suggested.
You turned your attention back to Namjoon who seemed to be considering the idea. âThat could work.â He said as he began drawing out a map. He wrote down various street names, including the street that you all were staying on before making circles around each one.
âOk so this is where we are, and this is where we ran into trouble on our last run-âhe began as he pointed to each location. âIâm thinking that the group of four can travel a bit further down and the group of three will go to the shopping center on the other side. That way, weâll only be a couple blocks away from each other.â He explained and everyone agreed.
âNow we just need to figure out who is in each group.â Jin added.
âHow about Jungkook, Hobi, Jin, and Taehyung as group one. Then me, Yoongi, and Namjoon as group two. And Y/N can stay here and keep a lookout.â Jimin suggested.
They all seemed to be satisfied with the plan, but you couldnât help but feel a bit guilty. Maybe it was because of Yoongiâs comments or maybe it was just because you didnât want to be alone again. Either way, something in you caused your mouth to work faster than your brain did.
âI can go!â You quickly said, causing everyone to face you. You looked around, your eyes catching Yoongiâs wide ones. He looked shocked and a tad confused as his mouth hung open slightly.
âY/N you donât need to do that, itâs dangerous. You can hang out here and keep an eye out for us.â Hobi said as he placed his hand on top of yours, once again sharing unspoken words with a look that said, please donât.
âNo, itâs ok. I want to. Itâs the least I could do and besides, I need to contribute something. I can take Namjoonâs place in group two, and he can help us unpack when we get back.â You said, avoiding eye contact with Hobi.
âIf you really want to go, then itâs fine with me. Jin and I will get everything ready tonight so you guys can leave tomorrow morning.â Namjoon said.
After the âfamily meetingâ had concluded, you made your way back upstairs to yours and Yoongiâs room. Emptying out your backpack for Namjoon to prep and placing your gun into the bedside table.
âY/N?â You turned as you heard Yoongiâs voice. He was standing in the doorway watching you.
âHey, I was just about to take my bag downstairs.â You said as you attempted to walk past him, coming to a halt as his arm blocked your exit.
âYou donât have to go tomorrow. Itâs ok if youâd rather stay here.â
âI want to go, Yoongi.â You stayed dryly.
âLook, if itâs about what I said. I didnât meanâ â
âThis has nothing to do with what you said. Iâm going because I want to, not because of you. And donât say that you didnât mean anything by it, because you did and thatâs fine. I get that itâs an inconvenience to have me here, but Iâm going to help out if I can.â You stated, cutting him off.
âI didnât mean it that way.â He said, slightly above a whisper as he looked down at his feet.
âWhatever, it doesnât matter anyways.â You said as you pushed your way through.
The rest of the day was full of preparation. Namjoon made everyone their own map with directions of each of the stores, along with a guide to get back to the house. You also discussed a backup plan in case anyone got lost or separated. As night rolled back around, everyoneâs routine seemed to be somewhat the same with each pair dispersing to their rooms.
Yoongi managed to beat you to your room once again. Although this time, he wasnât completely immersed within his book. He sat up as you walked in, and you could feel his eyes following you. However, you chose to ignore him this time as you crawled into bed and faced the wall. Perhaps heâs getting a taste of his own medicine.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It's now been two days since you met Hobi and his friends, and today you were going to help them look for supplies. You couldn't quite comprehend why youâd volunteered to go out. You didn't have nearly as much experience as they did when it came to dealing with the zombies. Yeah, maybe it was easier to face them when you were part of a group, but you had been alone up until now.
You had the basic knowledge of how to deal with them, but no amount of preparation or intelligence could take away the overwhelming reality of the current state of the world. The truth is, nothing is guaranteed. There are no promises that could be made in regard to someoneâs safety, theyâd all be empty.
The harsh reality is that at any given moment, one of us could turn into a monster. Whether it happens because youâve been bitten and are now infected, or you simply give in to the darkness inside of you. Either way, becoming something that you donât want to become seems somewhat inevitable at this point.
You already felt it from the moment this mess began. You saw it when you fired a bullet directly into a zombieâs head to save Hobi. Sure, zombies were just a shell of the person that they once were, but they were still a person at some point. A human being with thoughts, feelings, goals, and aspirations. Someone who was loved by others and loved those people right back. You couldnât help but wonder if the only difference between zombies and those who were still alive was as simple as a heartbeat.
There was no time to reconsider the solidity of your moral compass. The boys took you in and you needed to help them. Fresh water and a warm meal was somewhat unheard of these days, but that didnât stop them from doing what they could for you.
You dressed yourself in a pair of jeans, along with a long sleeved shirt and boots before tying your hair up into a ponytail and sliding on a black baseball cap. You gave yourself one final look over before grabbing your gun and heading downstairs. Everyone else was already down there, standing in the dining room. Everyoneâs bags were laid out on the dining table along with various weapons. You were greeted by Jimin who was leaning against the countertop.
âAh, Y/N!â He exclaimed, drawing everyoneâs attention towards you, as he motioned for you to stand by him.
âGood morning, everyone.â You greeted as you joined Jimin.
Much to your surprise, Hobi didnât rush over to greet you as he did the previous morning. Instead, he remained silent as he stood in the corner by Yoongi who also kept quiet as his sight remained glued to the floor.
Great, theyâre both upset with me. You thought to yourself. You understood Hobiâs hesitation when it came to you deciding to join them on a supply run. I mean, you were going in a smaller group opposite of his, and according to his statement to Taehyung the other day, he promised himself that heâd protect you. Yoongi, however, was a mystery. One that you were sure youâd figure out one day, but today was not that day.
âAre you ready?â Namjoon asked as he walked over to you, handing you your bag.
âIâm ready.â You said between a deep breath.
âEach group has a radio, including myself. Theyâre long range so team one and team two will be able to alert each other in case they need help. I wonât be able to hear you all once you pass the halfway point.â He said, referring to the location in between each teamâs destination and the house. âKeep your gun in your back pocket but avoid using it if you don't have to. You donât want to alert more zombies than you need to. I placed a miniature hatchet in your bag, use that if you can.â He finished as you nodded in response.
âWeâll be taking mine and Yoongiâs cars this time, so letâs try to get as much as we can.â Jin added.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The drive back wasnât nearly as silent as before, but the energy was still lackluster.
âI think we should tell the others about what we saw. We donât know if the people who did that are still out there.â Yoongi stated. You didnât want to relive that experience, but you understood where he was coming from. So, you agreed, as did Jimin. If someone could do something like that to someone they knew, then what would they do to complete strangers?
As you approached the house, you saw Namjoon and the others unloading the first car. They all turned their direction to your group, waving and offering big smiles. You barely had time to step out of the car before Hobi ran up to you, embracing you in a tight hug which you reciprocated.
âYou made it!â He said brightly.
âI promised you I would.â You laughed.
âI missed you.â He said as he pulled away, keeping his hands on your shoulders.
âI missed you too, Hobi. Actually, I got you something.â You told him. You turned to grab your bag and opened the front pocket to redeem the chocolate bar before handing it to him. âI only found one, so donât let the others see.â You whispered.
âYou should keep it for yourself then!â He said with wide eyes as he tried to give it back to you, causing you to cross your arms.
âNope, I got it for you. Someone so sweet should have something sweet.â You said, causing him to smile bigger than he already was. You werenât sure how it was even possible, but you enjoyed the view, nonetheless.
âThank you, Y/N! Letâs split it.â He insisted.
âWhatever you want, Hobi.â You agreed, motioning for him to hide it as the others began walking up to you, greeting you with warm smiles.
They were happy to see you, and you were just as happy to see them. You didnât know them well at all, but you still found yourself comforted by their presence.
After everyone unloaded their bags onto the dining table, the boys began looking through everything. Seokjinâs team had a great haul, also finding various canned goods and drinks along with a few snacks like chips and protein bars that were still good. You managed to sneak upstairs to hide the books you grabbed for Yoongi. You placed them in the bedside table along with your gun before heading back downstairs.
All of the items had been put away into the cabinets and everyone was sitting at the table, chatting away as Namjoon finished plating the food heâd made for us. Just like the previous day, you sat in between Hobi and Jimin. Namjoon passed out bowls of soup to everyone. No oneâs bowls were completely full as we needed to make sure things lasted as long as possible.
Everyone began talking amongst each other and this time you allowed yourself to join them. You felt as if you were getting to know them better as they told you about their livesâ when everything was normal, and you told them about yours. Jungkook told you about all of his tattoos, and you two joked about getting matching ones when all of this ended. If all of this ended.
You realized that youâd never given Hobi back his bracelet, and it seemed like he forgot to ask for it back.
âHere, I forgot to give this back to you.â You said softly, holding the piece of jewelry in your hand for him to take.
âYou keep it.â He told you.
âBut itâs your favorite.â
âIt is, but I want you to hold onto it for a bit longer. Think of it as your lucky charm.â
You thought for a moment as you put the bracelet back on. You wanted to give him something in return. Something that would inspire him to stay safe at all costs, because he knew that heâd need to return it to you at some point. It felt like a lightbulb turned on when you realized that your hair was still in a ponytail, and you were still wearing your hat.
âChoose.â You told him, holding both your hat and your scrunchie in each hand. He began tapping his finger against his chin in an animated manner.
âHow about this? Itâs basically the same thing.â He said as he pointed to your scrunchie, causing you to laugh a bit as you slid the item onto his wrist.
âThere, now we both have lucky charms.â
Everyone finished their meals, but we all remained at the table. Far too engrossed in our conversations to be bothered with getting up from our seats.
âEveryone-â Yoongi spoke loudly, drawing everyoneâs attention. âJimin, Y/N, and I witnessed something during our trip that we think you all should know about.â He finished. You and Jimin shared an uncomfortable look with each other. Neither of you wanted to talk about it, but you knew that it needed to be done.
âWhat happened?â Namjoon asked inquisitively.
You guys told them everything. About the cars, the sign in the road, the zombie. Every weird thing that you witnessed. You made sure to avoid mentioning the fact that you entered the building on your own, knowing that Hobi would be pissed at Yoongi and Jimin for allowing it. They didnât express it, but they noticed what you were doing, and they were grateful for it.
âThatâs awful.â Tae said as he sighed deeply at the end of the story.
âYou guys didnât see anyone around?â Jin asked.
âNo, we didnât. We werenât sure if theyâd left or if they were dead now too.â You told him.
âIâm just glad that you all made it back safely.â Jungkook stated.
âThis isnât good. Thereâs no telling how long that guy had been there.â Namjoon said, somewhat stating the obvious. Although, we were all thinking the same thing.
âWhat should we do? I mean, if theyâre still alive and theyâre still around, whatâs to say we wonât run into them?â Jin asked.
âMaybe we should consider moving?â Hobi suggested.
It was an uncomfortable thing to think about, but this was the reality you all were faced with. The people who killed that man could still be alive and for all you knew, they could still be in the area. No one could say how many there were of them. We couldnât just take a risk and assume that weâd be fine.
âItâs something to think about. Weâve talked about going somewhere else when we couldnât find any more supplies, but we never planned for something like this.â Namjoon said.
You all remained silent for a moment as everyone began weighing out the options, not that there was a lot to begin with.
âY/N, I need something from you.â Namjoon said, causing you to sit up and give him your full attention.
âWhat is it?â You asked.
âI need you to teach us all how to shoot.â He stated, causing everyone to turn to you.
âI can do that. We need to find somewhere that we can practice without making too much noise.â You told them.
âI agree. I know we were trying to avoid making two trips this week, but weâre going to need more guns. Ideally, everyone would be armed.â Namjoon said.
âThereâs a shooting range not too far from here. I think that they sold rifles as well for hunting.â Yoongi stated.
âWe can start searching there. Maybe we can find some suppressors as well, itâd make training a lot easier." You responded.
âItâs settled. Iâll go with you and everyone else will stay here.â Namjoon stated.
âShouldnât half of us go? I can come too. Itâs dangerous for both of you to go alone.â Hobi asked.
âIt is dangerous, which is exactly why you all need to stay here. A group is too noticeable. Iâm not sending Y/N out by herself, and I donât know enough about guns. Besides, I stayed back today.â Namjoon told him.
âWeâll be ok. Maybe you guys could try securing the house a bit more? It would give us some extra protection until we decide where weâre going.â You stated to everyone, but you were mainly speaking to Hobi in an attempt to calm his nerves.
âWe still have a few hours of daylight left. We can go now.â You told Namjoon.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The two of you walked through the front door, finally relaxing a bit. The others were quick to try and greet you, but you remained silent as you looked at all of the faces around you. Smiles slowly fading as they saw the distressed look on both yours and Namjoonâs faces.
âWhatâs wrong?â Jungkook asked, eyes bouncing between you and the man stood beside you.
âWe ran into another survivor.â Namjoon stated.
You werenât even sure how it happened, but everyone ended up in the living room. Eyes glued to Namjoon as he told them what happened. You, however, werenât listening. Instead, you sat on the floor with your legs crossed as you began looking through the bags and loaded each of the guns. It wasnât until a voice called your name that you looked up. Everyone was staring at you in disbelief.
âY/N?â Taehyung called out softly. âAre you alright?â He asked, his tone laced with concern.
âIâm fine.â A lie. âI promise.â Another lie. Without another word, you returned your attention to the weapons laid in front of you.
âWe donât have much time. I donât know if that guy was being honest or not, but I donât want to wait around to find out. Y/N will teach us how to use the guns and weâll prepare to move.â Namjoon announced.
Thatâs two lives youâve saved. Two lives within the span of two days. You werenât sure what was happening to you, but it seemed as if by the snap of a finger, something changed. You no longer felt guilty. You no longer felt afraid.
Looking at the men around you, the ones you were so grateful for, you felt nothing except determination. Not a single person or thing would come between you and your friends. Each and every single one of you would make it through, together.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Itâs now been one week since you ran into another survivor. The week was one of preparation. Preparing to move, while also teaching everyone how to handle a gun. Everyone seemed to pick up on it relatively quickly, some a bit more hesitant than others. The questions never ceased to exist. Everyoneâs nerves had peaked. The question of whether or not weâd ever have to use these weapons against another human being lingered incessantly. No one knew what the future would hold. We just knew that weâd be ready for anything.
Jungkook was a good shot. Hell, he even had the potential to be better than you were. With his newfound skill, you opted to give him the second rifle. Everyone agreed that itâd be best to take shifts keeping watch. In five hour, increments, you all took turns. It had been decided that the same system would stay in place when it came to driving. Thereâd be no stopping unless it was to give the current driver a break.
The countryside seemed like a good place to go. Far less crowded, and fewer chances of running into people. The biggest issue, being so far away from everything else. Supply runs could quickly become a problem that no one knew how to handle.
You fought sleep as you leaned back in your chair, rifle resting beside you. Your eyes found a routine of slowly shutting before shooting open as you shook your head. Every time you closed your eyes, you saw that zombie's face. You almost created an image in your mind of what he wouldâve looked like before he was defiled.
It was hard to admit it, but youâd barely slept all week. Each time you managed to doze off, the same exact nightmare would play over and over again. It always began with you in the grocery store with a man. The two of you went back and forth, screaming at each other about loyalty.
âYou lied to me!â A voice would yell. It sounded like yours, but it didnât feel right.
âI was going to tell you, I promise!â The man cried.
âNo, you werenât! Youâre a fucking traitor!â The voice mimicking yours would fight back.
âWhat are you doing?â The man whispered as he backed into a corner.
âItâs so funny. Even when your mouth swears that youâre innocent, your eyes tell another story. And quite frankly, I canât stand to look at them anymore.â The voice laughed through tears.
A cold sensation crept up your arms, covering them in goosebumps. You looked at your right hand, a broken piece of glass rested against your palm. You squeezed it tightly, ignoring the pain as the warm, red liquid dripped down your wrist. You ran towards the man and began stabbing him in each of his eyes. Screams filled the room, but nothing could stop you.
âY/N?â A voice whispered, but you ignored it.
âY/N?â The voice called again. This time, a bit louder. It didnât matter though. You were too angry to stop.
âY/N!â You shot up in your chair, chest rising and falling quickly as you tried to catch your breath. âAre you okay?â
You turned to face Taehyung who was bent down to your eye level, one hand gently gripping your shoulder and the other rested on your knee as if to steady you. You looked around the room as your breathing began to level out. It was just a nightmare. You thought.
âFuck, Iâm sorry, Tae. I mustâve dozed off.â You apologized. You didnât even realize that you subconsciously placed your hand on top of his as it rested on your knee.
âItâs fine, Y/N. Were you dreaming?â He asked softly.
âSomething like that.â You whispered.
âWe donât have to talk about it if you donât want to, but Iâm here if you do.â He told you.
âThank you, Tae, but I think I just need to rest.â Truthfully, you did want to talk about it, but what were you supposed to say? How could you explain that youâve been having these vivid nightmares, and they make you feel like youâre losing it?
âTry to get some sleep, Y/N.â He said as he stood up and extended his hand for you to take.
You offered a weak smile as you grabbed your rifle and went back to yours and Yoongiâs room. Much to your surprise, he was wide awake and reading the same book that he was when you first came here.
âHey.â He greeted lowly as he directed his attention to you.
âHi.â You sighed. âCanât sleep?â You asked him as you sat on the edge of your bed, facing him.
âNo. I canât stop thinking about tomorrow.â He admitted.
Tomorrow was the day that you moved. Unsure of where youâd end up but knowing that youâd figure it out when you got there. Everyone said that they were ready, but it felt more like a figure of speech. None of you were prepared to let go of everything that youâd grown accustomed to.
âWeâll be okay.â You attempted to reassure him.
âWe donât know whatâs out there, Y/N.â
âYouâre right. We donât know whatâs out there, but whatever it may be, weâll face it together.â You told him.
The two of you sat in silence for a bit, too consumed by your own thoughts and worries to even have the slightest of clues on how to comfort the other. You glanced at the book that rested in his lap, suddenly remembering that you never gave him the ones that you found.
âI got you something.â You told him as you grabbed the books from the side table and sat on his bed beside him.
âWhere did you find these?â He questioned as he inspected the covers of the books with wide eyes.
âI grabbed them when we were at the store. I meant to give them to you that night, but with everything going on, it slipped my mind.â You shrugged.
âThank you for this, Y/N. Really, thank you.â He said gratefully as his eyes met yours.
âYouâre welcome, Yoongi.â You smiled as you made your way back to your bed, tucking yourself in. This time, however, you didnât turn your back to Yoongi.
He did the same, after setting the books on his table. The two of you fell into casual conversation for hours. At first, it just seemed as if neither of you were tired enough to fall asleep, but after a while it became evident that you were fighting sleep to keep talking.
You told Yoongi about your parents and how you ended up in Seoul in the first place. He listened to everything with intent, and when it was his turn to tell his story, you extended the same courtesy. Despite the bickering that frequently occurred between you two, Yoongi was becoming a source of comfort. You hadnât realized how safe you felt while sharing a room with him.
Although he had a hard exterior, you could see the softness within him, and you were sure that heâd been such a gentle soul before all of this. As the conversations slowed down, the two of you drifted in and out of sleep, and your nightmares consumed your mind once again.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
âDo you have everything?â You turned to look at Hobi who was standing in the doorway waiting for you. You did a final look around the room, trying to figure out if you were forgetting anything important.
âI think so.â You told him as you walked towards him, your bag in one hand and your rifle in the other.
âI guess weâre ready then.â He said before you made your way outside to meet the others.
The sun hadnât fully risen yet, causing the sky to have an orange glow. Everyone agreed to leave as early as possible, the last thing you needed was to get stuck driving in the dark.
âY/N, do you want to ride with us?â Jin asked you as he loaded bags into the trunk of his car.
âSure. Whoâs got the first shift?â You asked as you handed him your bag.
âIâll go first. Weâre going to follow Yoongi since Namjoon has the map and is riding with him.â He told you, causing you to nod.
You climbed into the backseat beside Hobi as Jin and Jungkook sat in the front. You glanced at the house one last time as Jin drove off, following behind Yoongi and the others.
âYou all should try to sleep while you can, we may be on the road for a while.â Jin stated.
âWay ahead of you, Hyung.â Jungkook said as he rested his head against the window with his jacket covering his face, causing you to giggle.
Your head rested against Hobiâs shoulder, and your arm wrapped around his. You subconsciously fidgeted with the scrunchie around his wrist while you watched the buildings pass by through the window.
âAre you not tired?â Hobi whispered.
You shook your head gently before looking up to meet his gaze. You hadnât realized how close your faces were to each other as your tired eyes held contact with his own. His face hovered slightly above yours, causing the hairs on the back of your neck to stand. Was he getting closer or were you just extremely exhausted?
You both jumped slightly as Jungkookâs loud snoring began taking place of the silence within the car.
âHeâs like a baby I swear.â Jin groaned. You laughed awkwardly as you looked down at your hands that rested against Hobiâs.
âWell, there goes our chances of getting any rest.â He lightheartedly joked, attempting to cut through the building tension between you two.
âItâs ok. Weâll just make him drive next.â You laughed, causing Hobi to smile.
Your head found solace on his shoulder once against as his rested against yours. After a few moments, you could hear his breaths slow a bit, indicating that heâd fallen asleep. You decided that youâd attempt to do the same, closing your eyes and hoping that your mind would give you a break from the nightmares.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You sat up when the car jerked gently as it came to a complete stop. You began looking through the windows, noticing that you were surrounded by trees.
âJungkookie, itâs time to switch places.â Jin said as he shook the sleeping man gently, causing him to groan as he removed the jacket covered his face.
âHow long have we been driving?â You asked.
âItâs been about three and a half hours. If anyone wants to get out and stretch, you should do it now.â Jin said.
âIâve gotta piss.â Hobi said as he stepped out of the car.
âMe too.â Jungkook followed. Shortly, you were the only one left sitting in the car.
âDo you want to get out for a minute, Y/N?â Jin asked as he peeked his head through the door.
âYeah. Actually, I need to go too.â You admitted as you got out.
You began scoping out the area to find a spot that was somewhat hidden. You noticed a small opening in between a couple of trees, and it seemed relatively covered.
âWhere are you going, Y/N-ah?â Tae asked as he saw you stepping away from the group.
âI need to pee. Iâll be right back.â You told him.
âOk, just be careful.â He cautioned, causing you to nod.
You walked for a bit, wanting to make sure that no one could see you. You werenât really worried about the guys trying to peek, but you still wanted as much privacy as possible.
You quickly did your business and cleaned up as much as possible. As you started to make your way back, a deep growl caused you to freeze in your tracks. You slowly turned around to face the cause of the sound, mentally cursing as you saw a large, skinny dog staring you down.
Heâs starving. You thought. He probably hadnât eaten in weeks, and you knew that it was only a matter of time before the animals went back to their natural instincts.
Fuck me. You thought as you slowly searched your pockets, realizing that you hadnât brought any sort of weapon with you. You slowly began backing away, hoping that the dog would back down. That was wishful thinking though, and before you knew it, youâd been knocked to the ground as the dog sank his teeth into your side, shaking his head violently.
The only thing you could think to do was scream and hope that the others would help you. You attempted to shove the dog off of you, but with each push, his teeth sank deeper causing you to scream louder.
âFuck, Y/N!â You heard someone yell. Youâd lost a lot of blood and began drifting in and out of consciousness.
You werenât entirely sure what was happening anymore, you just knew that you heard what sounded like a gunshot and multiple, panicked voices speaking over you. Your eyes fluttered open for a moment and you realized that you were being carried by Hobi.
âHobi I-â you weakly whispered before falling unconscious again.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The booming sound of loud thunder shook you awake, causing you to attempt to sit up. A sharp pain shot through your body, causing you to whine and lay back down.
âHyung, sheâs awake!â You heard Jiminâs voice call. You turned your head to see Jimin, Hobi, and Tae all running towards you.
âHow are you feeling?â Hobi asked sweetly as he carefully knelt down beside you.â
âMy body hurts.â You began, attempting to look around as you couldnât recognize your surroundings. âWhere are we?â
âItâs a barn.â Tae answered, causing you to give him a confused look. âWe drove for miles until we came across it. It looked like itâd been abandoned, and we just needed somewhere to stop so we could help you.â
âJin and I were able to stop the bleeding, but you wouldnât wake up. I was so scared, Y/N. I thought I lost you.â Hobi choked as he squeezed your hand gently. You attempted to reach up to touch his face, letting out a painful moan as the sharp pain happened again.
âDonât try to move, Y/N. Just rest.â Jimin urged. You carefully interlaced your fingers with Hobiâs.
âYou canât lose me, Hobi. I still have your bracelet.â You smiled weakly, trying to cheer him up.
He let out a bit of a forced laugh as he nodded his head, eyes fixed on your torso which was now wrapped in some sort of cloth.
âHey, where are the others?â You asked once it hit you that four of your friends were missing.
âThey went to go look for some medical supplies. You could easily get an infection if we donât find something to treat the wound with.â Jimin told you.
âHow long have they been gone?â
âA couple of hours. They should be back soon though.â He said, causing you to nod.
Silence filled the room as we waited for the others. Hobi gently traced circles on the back of your hand with his thumb while Jimin and Taehyung kept watch at the front of the barn.
âIâm sorry.â Hobi whispered, causing you to look up at him. He avoided eye contact though, eyes still glued to your torso.
âSorry for what, Hobi? This isnât your fault.â
âI shouldâve gone with you. I couldâve protected you and none of this wouldâve happened.â
âDonât say that.â You told him as you squeezed his hand, causing him to look at you. âI fucked up the minute I walked into the woods without my gun. None of this is on you, Hobi. Besides, I wasnât going to let you watch me take a piss.â You joked, causing him to smile weakly.
âThe moment I heard you scream, it felt like the world stopped and I immediately imagined the worst. I donât know what I wouldâve done if it wasnât a dog that had bitten you, Y/N. Iâd never forgive myself.â He admitted. You hated that he felt this way, that he blamed himself for what happened.
âHey, Iâm still in one piece. You donât have to think about all of that. Iâll be okay, Hobi.â
âI donât want to lose you.â He bit his lip as a tear fell from his eyes. You slowly brought his hand to your chest, doing your best to hide the amount of pain you were in.
âMy heart is still beating, Hobi. Iâm still here and Iâm not going anywhere.â You reassured him.
âTheyâre back!â Jiminâs voice caused the two of you to guide your attention to the men walking in.
âHoly fuck, sheâs awake!â Jungkook exclaimed as he ran over to you.
âItâs good to see you.â You smiled as the others made their way over to you.
âWe found some painkillers and things to clean the wound. Is it bad?â Jin asked, referring to your pain.
âOnly when I move.â You admitted.
âThe bite was pretty deep, but we were able to stop the bleeding. So, thatâs a good sign. We do need to clean it though.â Namjoon said.
You simply nodded as you did your best to prepare yourself for what was coming. Jin gently removed the blood-soaked cloth from around your torso and tossed it to the side as he and Namjoon began readying the medical supplies.
âHere.â Yoongi said as he handed you some pain meds and a rolled-up shirt. âItâs to bite down on. Youâre going to need it.â He added, pointing to the shirt.
You nodded in response and quickly swallowed the pills before letting out a shaky breath.
âWe may need to hold you down, Y/N. This isnât going to be easy.â Jin admitted as he gave you a look of pity.
âI know. Do what you need to.â You told him.
Hobi kept his hold on your hand, offering it for you to squeeze as he kept your arm close to him. Yoongi pressed gently on your shoulders, preparing to pin you down if he needed to. Jungkook held your legs tightly to prevent you from kicking. Tae and Jimin stood to the side, ready to step in if they were needed. Namjoon sat beside Jin to assist him with the process.
âReady?â Jin asked as he held a bottle of alcohol in his hand. You werenât ready in the slightest, but it needed to happen one way or another. So, despite your fear, you nodded anyways.
Soon enough, your muffled screams began filling the room as the cold alcohol soaked your wound. Jin moved as quickly as he could while the others kept you in place. As you felt yourself go numb, your cries began to fade, and everyone released their holds on you.
âItâs done, Y/N.â Namjoon said, slightly above a whisper.
âNo more dogs.â You joked as you let out a deep sigh.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Everyone sat around for a while, trying to decide whether you should stay here for the night or get back on the road, as you waited for the storm to pass. Hobi helped you sit up with your back rested against his chest for support.
âShe needs to rest.â Yoongi stated.
âIâll be fine. We should keep going.â You responded.
âY/N, itâs not safe.â He sighed.
âNowhere is safe, Yoongi. Isnât that why we decided to leave in the first place?â You questioned.
âSheâs right. We should keep going.â Namjoon said.
âI can drive first for our group. Youâre all probably exhausted.â You offered.
âYouâre not driving.â Hobi stated, much to your surprise.
âWhat, why not?â You questioned.
âIâm not going to have you passing out on us.â
âIt only happened once.â You mumbled as you rolled your eyes.
You understood his concerns, but that didnât stop the irritation. You felt as if you were being a burden on the group, and all you wanted to do was carry your weight, even if it was excruciating to do so at the moment.
âOne time is too many, Y/N.â He told you with a hint of frustration in his tone.
âItâs fine, Y/N. Just focus on getting better.â Jungkook told you. You were too tired to argue. So, you simply nodded in response.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You rested your head against the window as you watched the trees pass by once again. It was getting dark, and you couldnât help but wonder if you hadnât gotten hurt, would you all have found your new home already?
You couldnât tell how long the car had been moving at this point. Your head was feeling fuzzy, and you started feeling cold. All you wanted to do was crawl into a warm bed sleep for days. The pain meds were starting to wear off and the slight shake of the car wasnât helping.
âHoseok?â Yoongi called over the radio, causing you to sit up a bit.
âYeah?â He responded.
âIt looks like thereâs a house up ahead. Weâre going to pull over and check it out.â Yoongi told him.
Hobi pulled into the driveway, behind Yoongiâs car, before stepping out for a few minutes to speak to the other group. They stood outside for a minute before looking for a way inside the house, leaving you with Jin and Jungkook.
âShould we go with them?â You asked.
âNo. Theyâll call if they need us. Weâll just be on lookout until they get back.â Jungkook said.
The exterior of the house resembled a cabin and was a bit smaller than the one you were previously in. The driveway was long and there were trees surrounding it. You honestly werenât sure how the others saw it in the first place, it was pretty hidden. You were distracted from your thoughts as Hobi opened your door.
âCome on.â He said as he helped you step out.
âWas it empty?â You asked, as you held onto him, trying to ignore the pain.
âIt is now.â He stated simply, causing you to look up at him with concern. âThere was a zombie. Yoongi and Tae are dragging it out.â He told you, noticing the worried look on your face.
As you two walked in, you began looking around the house. The inside felt smaller than it originally looked, but you werenât sure if that was just because there were so many of you.
âThereâs two bedrooms upstairs and two downstairs. Y/N, you can have one of the ones downstairs, so you donât have to walk as much.â Namjoon stated.
âAm I not sharing a room with anyone?â You asked, a bit confused.
âThereâs only one bed in each room. You can have one to yourself and one of us will take the couch.â He told you.
You were at the point where you didnât really mind if you had to share a bed with someone. You appreciated their thoughtfulness and continuous efforts to make you feel comfortable, but you truthfully didnât want to sleep alone. It seemed silly after everything that has happened, but you were still afraid of being alone again.
âI donât mind sharing with someone as long as theyâre ok with it. Thereâs no reason for someone to sleep on the couch if they donât have to.â You said.
After a brief discussion, it was decided that youâd share a room with Hobi since you âknewâ him the best. You werenât really surprised by the decision. Especially not when he was so insistent on it.
You let out a sigh of relief as you laid in the bed, facing the ceiling. You turned to Hobi who was also lying on his back beside you.
âHow are you feeling?â He asked, as his eyes met yours.
Like shit. You thought but abstained from admitting that.
âTired.â You answered with a yawn.
âAre you in pain?â
âA little bit. I think itâll be better tomorrow.â You lied, hoping he wouldnât persist forward. Much to your satisfaction, he nodded and set his sights on the ceiling.
âThereâs a garden in the backyard. I think weâre going to look for seeds to plant.â He spoke.
âThatâd be nice.â You told him. The possibility of being able to grow your own food was exciting, but there was no guarantee that itâd happen. You hoped for the best regardless.
âGet some rest, Y/N.â He said as he noticed you fighting to keep your eyes open.
âGoodnight, Hobi.â You hummed before slowly drifting off to sleep, as the nightmares began to play on repeat, just like before.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You woke up covered in a pool of your own sweat and feeling as if the room was spinning. You looked to your side, only to realize Hobi wasnât there. You slowly lifted the blankets to look at your inflamed wound. It looked as if it had become infected as a thick, clear substance oozed out of it.
You cried as you attempted to sit up. Pain flowing throughout your entire body as your torso throbbed intensely. You stood up weakly, as your legs shook beneath you. Feeling as if they were about to give out. Slowly, you put one foot in front of the other, losing your balance and falling to the floor. The sound mustâve alerted Hobi, because soon enough he was running into the room.
âWhat happened?â He frantically asked, trying to help you up before you pushed him off.
âPlease donât touch me, Hobi!â You cried. The feeling of his hands on you made you feel as if your skin was on fire.
âJin!â Hobi yelled a few times, trying to wake the others. It didnât take too long though, and within a couple of minutes, everyone was running to your room.
âShit, she has fever.â Jin stated, as he tried to look at your wound. He received the same treatment as Hobi. Getting pushed off as you continued to cry in pain.
âY/N, please. I need to see if itâs infected.â Jin pleaded. You looked up at him with worried eyes. âIâll be gentle, I promise.â
You allowed him to check your wound, and he kept his promise, remaining as gentle as he possibly could.
âFuck. Itâs infected.â He stated as he looked at the others behind him.
âThis is bad. What are we going to do?â Jungkook asked through an anxious tone.
âShe needs antibiotics. She could die if we donât get this under control.â Yoongi said.
âSheâs not going to die!â Hobi yelled, still crouched down beside you. Being as careful as possible as to not touch you.
âShe will if the infection spreads, Hoseok!â Yoongi yelled back.
âYoongiâs right, Hoseok. If we donât get her some proper medication, then the infection will spread.â Namjoon reasoned.
âThen we need to find something.â Hobi argued.
âPlease, stop yelling.â You groaned. The sound was starting to give you a headache.
âIâm sorry, Y/N.â Hobi whispered.
âThere has to be a pharmacy somewhere. Right?â Taehyung asked.
âWhere, Taehyung? We donât even know where we are. We could be hours away from a pharmacy.â Jimin stated, now starting to panic as well.
âWill everyone just please calm down!â Namjoon said through a loud tone.
As much as you hated the sound, it worked. Everyone stopped arguing and looked to Namjoon for answers. No one knew what was going to happen to you if they couldnât get antibiotics in time.
âIf there isnât a pharmacy nearby, there has to be a hospital or a doctorâs office. That would be our best bet.â He stated.
âA hospital is too dangerous.â You muttered.
âItâs a risk weâll have to take.â Namjoon said.
âWe drove for hours and didnât see anything. How can we be certain weâll find something?â Jungkook asked.
âWe should all go.â Taehyung suggested, causing everyone to direct their attention to him. âLook, we donât know how long itâll take and by the time we find what weâre looking for, the infection could already be spreading. The sooner Y/N takes the antibiotics, the better.â He continued.
âFucking fine with me. Come on, Y/N. Letâs get you up.â Hobi quickly stated, attempting to put his arms around you.
âWill you please calm down?â You asked him, gently swatting his hands away. âIs everyone fine with coming, or does anyone want to stay here?â
âI never unpacked. So, Iâm fine with going.â Jimin stated.
âYeah, me too.â Jungkook added.
As you looked around at the men surrounding you, it was evident that they were all willing to pick up and leave again if it meant saving your life.
âThen itâs settled. Letâs grab our bags quickly. Jin, help Hobi get Y/N in the car.â Namjoon said.
Everyone dispersed to gather their things and prepare to leave again as Jin and Hobi helped you to stand.
âIâve got her. Grab her bags.â Jin told Hobi, who wore a look of hesitation before nodding.
âHow are you feeling?â He asked, causing you to look up at him with a look of confusion.
âNever better.â You said, causing him to chuckle at your sarcasm.
âNo, I mean mentally, how are you?â He rephrased.
âIâm tired, Jin.â You admitted. He didnât say a word in response. Opting to nod in understanding.
Once he was sure that you were secure in the backseat of his car, he stared down at you for a moment as his hands rested on the door.
âYou know youâre going to be okay, right? Weâre going to take care of you.â He said softly.
âI know, Jin. Thatâs not what Iâm worried about.â
âThen what is it?â He asked with a raised eyebrow.
âIâm worried that if something does happen to me, that Hobi would blame himself for it. I know he made a promise to me, but Iâm afraid that heâs going to get himself killed in the process of trying to fulfill it.â You told him.
âI wonât let that happen. None of us will. Youâre one of us now, Y/N. Weâre all going to make it through this.â His tone was soft, but you could see the sincerity in his eyes.
âThank you, Jin.â You said. He gave you a confirming nod before shutting the door gently and entering the drivers side.
Shortly after, Hobi and Jungkook took their seats in the car and we were off. The air felt heavy, but you were unsure if it was due to the burning sensation flooding your body. With every bump in the road, you winced lightly.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Jin had been driving for about an hour, yet the scenery hadnât changed much. You were still surrounded by trees and the sun was finally starting to rise. You couldnât help but think about your parents. If there was a chance that they were still alive, are they happy? If they were dead, did they die peacefully? The thoughts lingered incessantly. It made you want to hit your head against the window repeatedly in an attempt to get the images to leave your mind.
The sound of static pulled you from your thoughts, Yoongiâs voice coming through the other end.
âHyung, we have to stop.â He said, causing everyone to sit up.
âWhy? Whatâs wrong?â Jin asked, pulling to the side of the road.
âWeâve run out of gas. We canât go any further.â He said as he parked in front of you.
âFucking hell.â Jin groaned as he rested his head on the steering wheel.
As you attempted to pull yourself up to look over your shoulder, you realized just how low the gas gauge was in this car as well. You guys could probably drive for a couple more miles, but it wouldnât matter. Youâd run out of gas soon enough too.
âWeâre going to have to walk.â Jin muttered, looking at you in the rear view mirror.
âShe canât walk in her condition.â Jungkook spoke.
âItâs okay. Iâll be fine.â You reassured the men in the car.
You werenât too keen on walking, but you had no other choice. It was either wait here for the infection to spread and die or die trying to stop it. Either way, you mentally prepared yourself for the journey.
Namjoon knocked on Jinâs window as the others approached the car.
âWeâre going to have to continue on foot.â He spoke.
âI know. Weâre almost out of gas too.â Jin sighed.
âY/N, how are you doing?â Namjoon asked.
âIâll be okay. Donât worry about me.â You said weakly.
âLetâs only take what we need. If we find gas, weâll come back for the cars.â
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You did your best to keep up a good pace, but you were still slowly trailing behind the others as Hobi allowed you to hold on to his arm in order to remain steady. The group had to leave a lot behind. Only splitting as much food and water that you could fit in each of your bags.
âWait!â Namjoon raised his hand as he stopped walking, signaling everyone else to come to a halt.
âWhat is it?â Tae asked quietly.
âLook up there.â Namjoon pointed to the road ahead of us that was on a hill.
You did your best to focus on what he was looking at, squinting as the sun shone directly in your eyes. Your breath hitched as you realized what it was.
There was a massive hoard of zombies ahead. There had to be hundreds of them, all walking towards you. As you began looking around, you realized that they werenât just ahead of your group, but all around you. Coming out from the trees as if they were waiting for the right time to strike.
âGuys, we need to run!â You urged, making the others aware of the impending danger that you were all in.
Everyone began running in the opposite direction, unsure of where to go. The zombies were catching up and there was nowhere around to hide. You cried as you lost your grip on Hobiâs arm, falling to the ground harshly.
âY/N!â He called, as he realized you were no longer beside him.
âIâve got her. Just go!â Yoongiâs voice yelled from behind you. âPut your arms around me.â He instructed and you quickly did as you were told as he picked you up, bridal style, and began running.
You couldnât help but look over his shoulder, panicking as you realized how close they were now and how far away the rest of the boys had gotten.
âYoongi, you need to let go of me. Iâm slowing you down.â You told him.
âShut up, Y/N.â He growled through deep breaths.
You reached over his shoulder and began digging through his bag, trying to find his gun. Once you felt the cold metal, you quickly pulled it out and turned off the safety before firing at the zombies closest behind you. The unsteadiness of your body as you shook in Yoongiâs arms made firing a sure shot nearly impossible, but it slowed a few of them down. As you turned back around, you realized that the others were no longer in sight, and there was a smaller group of zombies coming from the right side of the road.
âFuck, Yoongi turn left!â You yelled.
He carried you into an opening in the woods, not stopping until you were both sure that youâd gotten away. You were now in the middle of the woods, tall trees surrounding you. Yoongi gently set you down on the ground with your back against a tree as he fell to his knees, attempting to catch his breath.
As he looked up at you, the two of you shared a knowing look. You had gotten separated from your group, and neither of you knew where you were. You were alone now.
âWhat are we going to do?â You asked through a whisper as tears formed in your eyes.
He stared at you for a moment before sighing and snickering lowly as he shook his head.
âWeâre going to find a pharmacy.â

Author's note: I was torn between making this chapter longer and cutting it off where it was at. Ultimately, I decided it'd be best to cut it off and allow the next chapter to be a long one. Let me know what y'all think about this one, and feel free to reblog if you like it! ~Mackieđ

âYoongi, please slow down.â You pleaded to the man in front of you as he walked with haste.
âWeâre running out of time, Y/N.â He stated, not breaking his stride.
âWeâve been walking for hours and weâre still in the middle of the fucking woods.â You sighed as you rolled your eyes.
He didnât respond. Instead, he continued to walk as if he were on a mission, not slowing down at all. You were holding onto a branch that you were using to help support your weight. You stopped moving for a moment, trying to catch your breath as you glanced down at your wound. It now looked worse than before.
Yoongi stopped and turned to face you once he no longer heard your slow steps trailing behind him. He sighed deeply as he made his way back over to you, extending his hand for you to take.
âWe canât stop now, Y/N.â He said with a soft tone, but the urgency was evident.
âCan we just take a small break?â You begged. âJust for a moment?â
He pinched the bridge of his nose before nodding. âJust for a minute.â He agreed, helping you sit down on the ground.
He began digging through his bag, pulling out a bottle of water and holding it in front of you.
âTake it.â He said simply.
âAre you not going to have any?â You asked as you took the bottle from his hand and twisted the cap.
âNo. Iâm not thirsty.â He said, but you could tell he was lying.
âJust drink a bit, Yoongi.â
âIâm fine, Y/N. You need it. You look like shit.â He said bluntly causing you to snort at his honesty.
âYou should see yourself.â You smirked.
Your food and water were now extremely limited. Hobi still had your bag and the only supplies that were available were the ones that Yoongi had.
âDo you think theyâre okay?â You asked, referring to the rest of the group.
âI do. They have each other.â He spoke.
âDo you think theyâre looking for us?â
âI donât know, Y/N.â He said slightly above a whisper as he traced patterns in the dirt with a stick.
You sighed as you thought about your friends. They were all probably worried sick, but who knows what they encountered after you got separated. It might not even be safe for them to come looking for the two of you at this point.
âCome on. Minutes up.â Yoongi said as he stood up, dusting himself off, and reaching out to help you up.
âCan you chill with the speed walking this time?â
âNo can do, princess. Canât have you dying on me.â He said, causing you to roll your eyes at the nickname.
âKeep calling me nicknames and I may start to think that youâve got a thing for me, Yoongi.â You said sarcastically, causing him to laugh.
âThen youâd be focusing on the wrong thing. Quit stalling. Letâs go.â He spoke.
âI wasnât stalling.â You muttered.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The two of you began walking once again. Trekking forward in hopes of finding something, anything at all. You felt yourself getting weaker with each step. You were falling apart and as much as you hated to admit it, Yoongi was right. You didnât have much time left.
Itâs moments like these where you wish that you could go back in time and do things differently. You never wouldâve gotten bitten by that dog because you wouldâve taken a weapon with you. The group wouldâve never had to leave the house, and everyone would still be together. Regrets felt pointless, but they stuck with you, nonetheless.
âI think I see something.â Yoongi spoke lowly.
Through the trees, you could see the outline of a large building.
âYeah, I see it too.â You told him as you stood by his side.
âCome on.â He said, as he helped support your weight by wrapping his arm around your shoulder.
As the two of you approached the building, you couldnât help the uneasy feeling that was building in your chest. It was a small hospital. Some of the windows on the lower floors were boarded up and some of the doors had chains on the handles. Someone wanted the building to be secure. Someone had to be in there.
âYoongi, I donât like this.â You admitted.
âWeâll be okay. We have to go in.â He attempted to comfort.
You quickly moved his arm from around your shoulder and stopped walking, causing him to face you with a confused expression. There was a hint of annoyance in his eyes, but you didnât care. This didnât feel right at all.
âWhat the fuck are you doing, Y/N?â He questioned.
âLook at the windows and doors.â You began, motioning to the building.
âWhat about them?â He asked. He was either completely oblivious to the strangeness of it all or he simply didnât care. You assumed that it was the latter.
âTheyâre secured, Yoongi. Someone has to be in there.â You told him, frustration laced in your tone.
âSo?â
âSo, what if thereâs another group in there?â You challenged.
âThen weâll take care of it. Why are you so worried about this?â His annoyance was much more evident now as his patience was wearing thin.
âOh, donât act fucking dense, Yoongi. We have one gun. One, and itâs just the two of us.â You told him.
âDonât insult my intelligence, Y/N.â
âThen donât act fucking stupid, Yoongi.â You snapped back.
The two of you stared at each other in silence for a moment. Neither wanting to back down. You understood that Yoongi was trying to save your life, but you needed him to understand that making impulsive decisions wasnât going to do that.
âIâm trying to help you.â He whispered as he broke eye contact, now staring down at your torso.
You slowly reached up and cupped his face in your hands, causing him to look at you once again.
âI know, Yoongi, but if we donât do this right then weâre both going to die. Please, just think about this.â You pleaded in a low tone.
âIâll sneak in.â
âIâm going with you.â
âY/N, you can barely walk. Iâll sneak in and take what we need. Iâll be in and out.â He spoke as if it were a foolproof plan.
âAnd what am I supposed to do? Just sit here and hope that you come back. No, Iâm going with you.â You stated sternly.
âDo you always have to be so stubborn?â He groaned.
âIâm not being stubborn, Yoongi. Iâm just thinking clearly. Iâm not going to let you get yourself killed in an attempt to save my life.â
âYou would do the same if you were in my position. Donât try and act like you wouldnât.â
You mentally cursed him out in your head. Not because he was just spewing absolute nonsense, but because he was right. Youâd risk your life to save any of the boys but allowing them to do the same felt wrong. You owed them so much. Keeping them alive was a necessity, not an option.
âYouâre right. I would do the same, but Iâm begging you to stop fighting me on this. Iâm coming with you.â
The sound of one of the doors opening caused you both to freeze. Yoongi pulled you down as the two of you stared at the door, briefly glancing at the other in concern. A man with a rifle around his shoulder walked out and looked around for a moment before lighting a cigarette. He was standing directly by the door.
You looked at Yoongi in hopes that he was thinking what you were thinking. Based on the look in his eyes, it was evident that you were on the same page.
âThatâs our way in.â He whispered.
You wondered if the two of you could somehow overpower the man, but you knew that itâd be too risky. Youâre not able to move as fast as you usually would, and Yoongi canât overpower him alone.
Almost on cue, a zombie approached from in between the trees. It hadnât spotted you, but the man on guard spotted it. He quickly put out his cigarette and pulled out a knife from his back pocket as he made his way over to it.
âDonât make a sound. Letâs go. Quickly.â Yoongi said as he kept a firm hold on your wrist.
The man tackled the zombie who was putting up a good fight, before implanting his knife into its skull. Luckily, his knife got stuck and it gave the two of you enough time to sneak past him as the growls of another zombie kept the man busy enough not to notice you.
As the two of you walked into the building, the air was cold. Eerily enough, it still held the sterile smell that youâd expect from a hospital. The white walls made the hallway seem infinite. It was strangely quiet, apart from the footsteps that you could hear approaching from the other end of the hallway.
Shit.
Without a second thought, you quickly grabbed Yoongiâs arm and pulled him into the nearby room before shutting the door quietly. The footsteps continued to approach, and you could hear the sound of whistling.
Yoongi readied his gun and stood by the door, preparing for the worst. Soon enough, you heard the sound of two men engaging in conversation and you could only assume that one of them was the man from outside. They stood directly outside of the door for a moment, cracking jokes with each other. You subconsciously held your breath, feeling as if itâd give away your position.
A few minutes later, the men began walking away. Neither you nor Yoongi moved a muscle until the sound of their footsteps faded.
âFuck.â You breathed out.
âY/N?â Yoongi whispered.
âWhat?â You responded, looking at the man beside you.
âLook.â He said simply, pointing to the wall before him.
You almost couldnât believe it. Was it really that easy? It appeared that the room you pulled Yoongi into happened to be a storage room. A storage room with various medications occupying the shelves. Most of them remained untouched.
Yoongi quickly began scanning the shelves, searching for the antibiotics that you needed. He let out a satisfied laugh once he found what he was looking for before grabbing multiple bottles and placing them into his backpack.
You were so taken aback that you hadnât even noticed that the men from earlier came back down the hallway. So filled with hope that you hadnât realized that theyâd opened the door to the storage room. You didnât even know that the man holding the rifle had connected the end of it with the back of your head as hard as he could. All you knew was that in the matter of seconds, everything went dark.
Your so mean pp cause i thought it was a ot7 fic but it's now becoming a yoongi x reader fic
Itâs still an ot7 fic? Lmao youâre acting like I killed off everyone else to make reader and Yoongi get together. The group got separated for a short time to progress the storyline. Iâm not going to rewrite the same chapter over and over again just so each member is in it all the time. If you donât like it, donât read it.
Nah cause what that anon got against YoonglesđŤđ¤¨
Fr though lil meow meow donât deserve that đ. Like reader has lowkey had one on one time with each member (andwillhavemore) but getting lost with Yoongi means itâs no longer ot7 đĽ˛
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You woke up to the sound of yelling and loud banging. You winced as you sat up. Your head was throbbing, and you felt dizzy. The back of your head felt damp. So, you slowly brought your hand to graze over your head. It seemed as if there was a large welt underneath your hair. As you looked at your hand, you realized that the dampness was blood. Glancing at the floor, you realized just how much blood had pooled from under your head.
âLet us out, you motherfuckers!â You heard Yoongi yell as he banged on the metal bars before him.
As you began to look around, attempting to make sense of your surroundings, you were left feeling more confused than you previously were. You and Yoongi were in a hospital, and youâd just found the antibiotics that you needed. So, why the fuck are you in a jail cell?
âYoongi.â You groaned, slowly bringing yourself to your feet as you unsteadily walked towards him, swaying with each step as the dizziness began taking over.
âI swear to god Iâll fucking kill you, bastards! Iâll fucking kill you!â He continued yelling.
âYoongi, please.â You spoke, gently putting your hand on his shoulder and forcing him to face you.
You wanted to break down when you saw his face. His eye was swollen, and his nose was bloody. Still, he tried to fight his way out. You gently cupped his cheek with your non-bloody hand as you felt your eyes began to sting.
âOh, Yoongi. What did they do to you?â You asked him through a shaky tone. Not even really aware of who âtheyâ were but knowing that they hurt your friend.
âIâm okay.â He attempted to comfort you. âIt looks worse than it is.â He said through a forceful laugh.
âIt looks pretty bad.â You let out a sad chuckle.
âDonât worry about me. Iâm going to kill each and every one of these dumb fucks.â He said, making sure to say the last sentence loud enough for anyone on guard to hear.
âMy god. Will you please shut the fuck up?â A manâs voice spoke.
You turned to see who the owner of the voice was. There stood a man followed by a few others who were all armed with what appeared to be machine guns. The man was tall and muscular. His arms were covered by a large leather jacket that matched his black jeans and boots. As he got closer, you noticed the tattoos on his face. The one under his eye caught your attention the most. It wasnât large, but the word âkillerâ was etched into his skin.
âIâm happy to see that youâve woken up, flower.â He smiled you.
The nickname made you wince as he opened the cell doors. Two of the men who followed him quickly made their way to Yoongi. One restrained him, tying his hands behind his back while the other pressed his gun against his head. Yoongi attempted to release himself from the manâs grip, but the gun pressing harder against his temple brought him to a halt. You began panicking. Afraid of what they would do to him.
âDonât hurt him, please.â You cried.
The man in the leather jacket knelt down in front of you before brushing his finger across your cheek. You jerked your head away at the touch, causing him to chuckle lowly.
âOh, flower. If your boyfriend just cooperated with us, then we wouldnât have to.â He said.
âIâm not telling you shit.â Yoongi hissed.
âYoongi, please stop.â You continued to cry.
In any other circumstance, you wouldâve told these guys to go fuck themselves. Theyâd be the ones locked up, not you, but in light of the current situation that the two of you were in, you were in no position to argue. Not after what they did to the two of you. Not while theyâre holding a gun to Yoongiâs head.
âI suggest you listen to her, Yoongi. Things can get alot worse for you if you donât.â The man turned to face Yoongi.
âFuck you.â He refuted.
The man holding the gun to his head quickly connected to back of it to his jaw causing him to fall to the floor. It wasnât hard enough to render him unconscious, but it was enough to bust his lip open, warranting him to cough blood and spit it out on the cold concrete.
âStop it, please!â You sobbed as you watched Yoongi. âIâll tell you everything you want to know. Just leave him alone, please.â
The man in leather simply chuckled as he stared down at your pitiful state. He cocked his head to the side, motioning for the other two men to grab you. The one with the gun made his way over to you, but not before landing a kick directly at Yoongiâs stomach causing him to groan painfully.
Now, it was your turn to be restrained. The man tying you up was far from gentle, and you could feel your wrists losing their circulation.
âHey! Be careful with my delicate little flower.â The man in leather snapped, causing the man tying you to ease up a bit.
âMY delicate little flower.â You repeated his words in your head. Is this really the impression you gave off? I mean, you know that your injury has left you weak and unable to defend yourself the way you typically would, but did you really seem delicate? So fragile that the slightest bit of pressure would make you crack? No. You thought. You are not delicate. You are not a fragile maiden in need of saving. Youâre Y/N, and you are going to get out of this.
The men began guiding you out of the cell, quickly locking it behind them as they walked you down a long hallway.
âDonât hurt her.â You heard Yoongi groan as he remained lying on the floor.
You wanted to tell him that everything would be okay. That no one was going to hurt you again, but you couldnât lie to him. The truth is, you didnât know what these men wanted with you. You didnât know where they were taking you and what questions they could possibly have for you. That didnât matter to you right now though. All that mattered was making sure that you and Yoongi got out of this alive.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The men led you down the long, dimly lit hallway into an office at the end. You were pushed down onto a chair that sat on the other side of a desk. The man in leather took a seat at the desk chair as he leaned back and lit a cigarette.
âNow, flower. How about we start with the basics, yeah? Whatâs your name?â He asked.
âY/N.â You sighed.
âY/N.â He repeated as he inhaled the smoke. âSuch a pretty name for such a pretty lady.â He smirked.
You felt as if you could throw up right then and there. You couldnât fold though. You couldnât show him more weakness than you already had.
âWhat about you? Whatâs your name?â You questioned, as you attempted to sit up as much as you could.
Donât fold, Y/n. You mentally told yourself as you stared into the manâs eyes. He was unreadable. No hint of even the slightest bit of emotion graced his features. He smirked at you as he pondered the question. You couldnât tell what was going through his head, but it felt as if he knew everything about you.
âYou can call me Ray.â He said after a moment of silence.
âAlright, Ray. What do you want with us?â
âSuch an inquisitive little flower.â He laughed. âI simply want to know what the fuck you and your boyfriend were doing in my hospital?â He said, raising his voice a bit.
âWe were looking for antibiotics.â You answered simply.
âAntibiotics for who?â He was quick to question.
âFor me. Iâd gotten bitten by a dog and it became infected. We were trying to stop it from spreading.â You told him.
He tapped his fingers on the desk as he stared into your eyes. Almost as if he was trying to figure out whether you were lying or not.
âI see. Where were you bitten?â He questioned.
âOn the side of my torso.â You answered.
âShow me.â He said with a disgusting smirk.
You didnât miss the way his eyes trailed, taking in as much as he could see from your seated figure. Not only was this guy a maniac, he was also a creep.
âIâd love to, but my hands are tied.â You spoke sarcastically.
âUntie her.â He instructed one of the men who quickly followed his orders.
You held your wrists in front of you. Rotating them a bit to ease the tension that the ties had caused.
âNow, flower. Show me where you were bitten.â He told you, as he stood up.
You exhaled deeply before gently pulling up your shirt, exposing your torso. You slowly peeled back the bandages to show him just how bad the injury had gotten.
âWell, Iâll be damned. You werenât lying, flower.â He laughed.
You breathed shakily as you covered your wound up and pulled your shirt back down.
âIâve got another question for you, and donât you dare lie to me.â He began, pointing at you accusingly. âAre there more of you?â He questioned with raised eyebrows.
âNo. Itâs just the two of us. Weâre alone.â
You werenât really lying, but there was no way that you were going to tell him that you were part of a group. He didnât need to know that there were others who cared about you and Yoongi, and that they were probably coming up with a plan on how to find you. If they havenât already started looking.
âI see. Take her to Carmen. I wanna have a little chat with the other one.â Ray said as he walked towards the door.
âPlease, donât hurt him.â You pleaded, but he didnât turn around. As he walked back towards the cell, you were being tied up again and led to another room.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
âCarmen!â The man guiding you called out as you stepped into what partially looked like a lab and an examination room of some sorts.
There, stood a young woman with a white coat on. Her brown hair was tied back into a ponytail and she wore wide framed glasses on her face. She turned to face the two of you, a small smile formed once she made eye contact with you.
âOh, hi!â She greeted cheerfully. âIs this one of our new guests?â She questioned as she made her way over to you.
You snickered a bit at the term âguestâ. What kind of hosts beat and restrain their guests while also keeping them locked in a cell with nothing in it? Not even a bed to sleep in.
âYeah. Ray is talking to the guy. He wanted you to check out her injury.â The man told her.
âWell, Iâd be happy to. Come on, have a seat.â She said as she pointed to a white bed.
As you took a seat, you heard Carmen release a loud, somewhat dramatic sigh.
âJesus Christ, Anthony. You could at least untie her.â She spoke.
You turned to face the man who tied you up, now having a name to put to the disgustingly hideous face.
âI donât think thatâs a good idea.â He said lowly.
âItâs fine. Our new friend wonât try anything. Will you?â She smiled in your direction. You offered an eager nod in response. Wanting to have your wrists freed once more. âSee? Untie her.â She instructed, warranting Anthony to do as she said.
âThatâs better. Now, leave us.â She said, causing Anthony to raise his eyebrows.
âPatient confidentiality.â She stated matter-of-factly. âJust stand outside the door. Iâll call you if I need you.â
âIf you say so.â He sighed.
Once the door was shut, Carmen grabbed a rolling chair and sat in front of you.
âNow, what can I call you?â She asked.
âMy name is Y/N.â You answered.
âItâs nice to meet you, Y/N. I do wish that we couldâve met in different circumstances, but you must forgive Ray for his methods. He does it all to keep us safe.â She tried to explain. Her cheery tone was making you angry.
âHe seems like a stand up guy.â You said sarcastically, causing her to laugh animatedly. As nice as she tried to present herself, you could sense that there was something wrong with her. You couldnât quite put your finger on it, but you knew to be wary of her.
âEnough jokes. Letâs get you all patched up, yeah? Show me your injury, please.â She said.
You reluctantly lifted up your shirt once again and pulled back your bandage, revealing the infected wound.
âOh dear, that looks awful. You must be in so much pain.â She said with an attempt at compassion, but it came off back handed.
âI hardly notice it.â You said sarcastically.
âSuch a brave girl.â She smiled, making you cringe. âIt hasnât completely closed, which is probably where the infection is coming from. Iâll get you stitched up and cleaned, and weâll start a round of antibiotics. Youâll be as good as new in no time.â She stated as she stood up and walked over to the rolling tray to start preparing the medical supplies.
You began accessing your surroundings. On a counter across from you, there were various valves filled with a clear liquid and scattered paperwork. Was she a doctor or some sort of scientist? You couldnât help but notice the scalpel sitting on end of the counter. The thoughts started flooding your head. You quickly looked up at Carmen to ensure that her back was still turned to you. Maybe you could take the scalpel without her noticing. Would it even be worth it? Everyone in this building seems to be armed to a T, and Anthony was standing right outside the door. Your thoughts were interrupted as the sound of Carmen rolling the tray to you began filling the room.
âAlright, dear. Go ahead and lie down for me.â She instructed.
She began cleaning your wound and hummed an unfamiliar tune as she did so. Your mind was racing and you needed answers. You needed to understand who these people were.
âCarmen, can I ask you a question?â You asked in a low tone.
âOf course!â She said cheerfully, still not looking up from your wound.
âWeâre in a hospital right?â
âOf course, silly.â She giggled at the question.
âThen why is there a cell in it?â
Your question caused her to freeze. She avoided eye contact with you and cleared her throat before letting out a nervous laugh and directing her attention back to your wound.
âThatâs a question for Ray. He knows everything about this place.â She said.
âAnd you donât?â You challenged.
âRay has all the answers. Ray is the answer.â She stated sternly, finally looking up to face you. âIâm sorry. I donât mean to be rude. JustâŚtalk to Ray.â She continued.
âOkay.â Was all you could mutter.
What the fuck was going on here? Why couldnât she just answer your question? You wondered whether sheâd been in your position. Maybe sheâd also been held captive and forced into submission. Although, it didnât matter if that was the case. You and Yoongi couldnât be manipulated into obeying someone like Ray. It just wasnât going to happen.
âAlright, honey. Itâs all cleaned. Iâm going to go do the stitches now.â Carmen spoke.
âYou wouldnât happen to have any alcohol would you?â You asked, halfway joking.
âUnfortunately not. Ray keeps all the booze hidden in his secret stash.â She sighed. âJust take a deep breath for me. It wonât take long.â
You inhaled deeply and released slowly once you felt the needle press through your skin. The sensitivity of your wound made the process hurt much more than it typically would. There was nothing to numb you. Nothing to ease the pain at all. You were forced to deal with it all the best you could.
After a few minutes, Carmen finished up and was preparing to cover the wound with clean bandages.
âIâll have Ray send you down here once a day to check on the progress of everything. Weâll start you on antibiotics twice a day. If you feel sick at all let me know.â She said as she handed you a large, white pill and just enough water to swallow it.
âThank you.â You told her as you took the pill.
âIâll grab Anthony and have him take you back to your cell. They should feed you soon.â She said as she opened the door to allow Anthony back in.
âAll done?â He asked as he walked over to you.
âYep. I wanna see her once a day, but she should be better in no time.â She smiled.
âGood enough for me. Come on, stand up and put your hands behind your back.â He instructed as if he were a cop of sorts.
As he tied you up, you noticed how quiet Carmen was being. She wasnât looking at you. Instead, she stared down at her feet.
âIâll see if Ray wants you to patch up the other one.â Anthony said with a laugh.
âHe better be okay or-â you started but Anthony quickly cut you off.
âOr what, princess? If I were you, Iâd tell your boyfriend to behave and stop giving us so much trouble.â He said as he leaned into your back, speaking directly into your ear as he yanked your arms backwards.
âMaybe if you werenât holding us captive he wouldnât be giving you trouble.â You sneered causing him to release an annoyed chuckle.
âThings can get much worse for you, princess. Remember that.â He whispered in your ear before pushing you forward. âLetâs go.â
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
âI donât wanna hear a peep out of either of you. Someone will bring you food soon.â Anthony stated as he locked you in the cell, slamming the door behind him.
You quickly made your way over to Yoongi, who was lying on the cold concrete.
âWhat happened? Are you okay?â You began asking him as you sat on your knees and inspected his face.
âIâm fine. Did they hurt you?â He groaned as he turned to face you.
âNo, Iâm okay. They took me to see a doctor.â You looked up as you thought about the entire interaction. âOr at least I think she was a doctor. I donât know. She seemed odd, but she gave me stitches and antibiotics. Iâm going to get better, Yoongi.â You whispered as you brought your hand to cup his cheek.
He slowly brought his hand to rest on top of yours and gave you a weak smile.
âYouâre going to be okay.â He stated, though it sounded as if he was trying to convince himself rather than you.
âListen, Yoongi. Weâre going to get out of this. Thereâs something seriously wrong with these people. I have a plan to get us out, but youâve gotta work with me. Youâve gotta stop fighting them.â You peaked behind your shoulder to ensure that no one was listening to you. Although you spoke low enough for only Yoongi to hear, you still remained cautious.
âAlright.â He whispered. âWhatâs the plan?â
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
âHey, dogs!â A manâs voice called from outside the cell.
You looked up and were met with another new face. Itâs been about an hour since you got back to the cell and youâve noticed some new guards. You wondered if they worked in shifts, much like your group did.
âGrub.â He said simply as he slid two trays under the cell door.
âThank you.â You stuttered as you crawled towards the trays.
You glanced over at Yoongi who was still lying on his back on the concrete. His arm was covering his eyes and you were unsure if he was actually asleep or just preventing himself from yelling at anyone else.
âExcuse me, sir?â You called out as the man began walking away. He turned to face you with an irritated look on his face. âIs there any way that he could get some medical attention? Iâm worried that he may have a concussion.â You asked him. You didnât really think that Yoongi had a concussion, but you did want him to see Carmen. Your plan depended on it.
âIâll talk to Ray about it. Just eat.â He answered nonchalantly as he walked away.
âYoongi.â You whispered as you pushed the trays towards him.
âHmm?â He groaned in response.
âThey brought us food.â You told him.
He squinted as he removed his arm from his face, sitting up slightly to inspect the trays.
âAre we sure that theyâre not just drugging us?â He questioned.
âI donât know. I am hungry though.â You admitted.
âIt looks like cat food.â He laughed dryly as he began poking at the slop in a bowl with his fork.
âI wouldnât be surprised if it was.â You laughed.
It really did look like cat food with a side of vegetables and water. You felt so weak and hungry that you were willing to eat almost anything at this point. Besides, the two of you would need your strength if you were ever going to get out of this prison.
âWell, it canât get any worse can it?â Yoongi questioned sarcastically as he sat up and took a bite of the food.
You looked at him with a raised eyebrow, waiting to see what he thought about the pile of slop youâd been given to eat.
âSo.â He began speaking with his mouth full. âItâs definitely cat food, but itâs really not that bad.â He continued, causing you to laugh and smack his shoulder. âIâm serious. It tastes like slimy tuna.â He said with wide eyes.
âYouâre so stupid.â You smiled as you took a bite to try for yourself. âYouâre right though.â You admitted, causing him to laugh with a snort.
The two of you fell into a comfortable silence as you ate. You couldnât help but think about the others. You hoped that they were safe. You looked at your wrist as you thought about Hobi, smiling to yourself as you began playing with the bracelet around it.
âI promise Iâll come back to you.â You whispered to yourself.
âDonât tell me that youâre already going crazy.â Yoongi said as he finished up the last of his food.
You sighed as you looked up at him, shaking your head slightly as you began poking at whatever was left of your tray.
âNo. Not yet at least.â You told him.
âYou need to finish your food.â He stated simply.
âI think Iâve had my fix of cat food and canned vegetables for the night.â You sighed. âYou can have the rest if you want.â
âAre you sure?â He asked, causing you to nod as you pushed the tray to him.
He quickly finished off your leftovers and returned to his position on the floor. You slid the two trays under the cell door before lying down beside him. The two of you laid there, side by side. Both staring at the ceiling as you thought about the moment that youâd be free.
You felt the tears that youâd been desperately trying to hold back escaping from your eyes. You wiped the stains from your face and sniffled lightly. Squeezing your eyes shut as if to prevent more from escaping.
You could hear a shift in Yoongiâs movements, and you could almost feel his concerned stare. Without words, and without any indication, he slowly interlaced his fingers with yours. As if, without speaking, letting you know that he was there and that everything would be okay. No more words were spoken for the rest of the night. The two of you laid there in silence and Yoongi never removed his gentle hold on your hand. You eventually succumbed to the overwhelming urge to sleep, knowing that any nightmare your brain could come up with would still be better than the reality youâve found yourself in.

It was unclear just how long youâd been a hostage to Ray and his minions. You counted each of your visits with Carmen and each of the meals youâd been given. You were at seven now. They fed you once a day, seemingly doing just enough to keep you two alive. You werenât quite sure what the end goal was for your captors. You still havenât received confirmation as to what Ray wanted with the two of you. Maybe he wanted more minions. More slaves to serve and protect him while he continued to get drunk in his office. Hidden in the âcomfortâ of these white walls.
Yoongi was able to meet with Carmen and get his injuries treated. He really only needed to see her once, but she insisted on having daily visits with him as well. What could you say? Carmen was a lonely girl, and she had taken a liking to Yoongi. She didnât know it, but she was assisting you with your plan.
âGet on their good side.â You recalled the conversation you had with Yoongi.
As for you? Your job was to gain Rayâs trust. It was clear from the get go that you had peaked his interest, and luckily for you, he saw you as his âdelicate little flower.â You see, the more time you spent with Ray, the more you began to figure him out. He was a coward, but heâd never admit to it. He needed someone to make him feel strong. Someone to make him feel brave, and most importantly, someone who made him feel needed. Who better to play that role than you?
It turned out that buttering up the big man came with some perks. None of which were particularly ideal, but they were much better than your previous conditions. Now, you had mats to sleep on and a couple of old books to pass the time.
Once you informed Ray that Yoongi wasnât actually your boyfriend and that you hadnât even known who he was until a few weeks ago, thatâs when you began receiving the âprincessâ treatment. You, however, wanted to reach âqueenâ status. You wanted to get the fuck out of this cell.
Originally, he viewed Yoongi as a threat. Someone who would fight him over the girl he wanted, but now, you made him feel like a god. You needed protecting. You needed Ray.
The sound of the cell door opening caused you to sit up from your previous position on the floor. You watched as one of the guards led Yoongi back into the cell. You bit your lip in an attempt to hide your enthusiasm once you saw the smirk that Yoongi gave you.
He did it. You thought. Weâre getting out of here.
âGrubâs gonna be a bit late tonight, guys. Ray sends his deepest apologies.â The man said as he shut the door.
âItâs not a problem. Actually, could you tell Ray that Iâd like to see him, please?â You asked, putting on the sweetest voice you could muster.
âIâll see if heâs busy.â He nodded as he walked away.
Once you were sure that the man was far enough, you shuffled over to Yoongi who was now sitting on the other side of the room.
âDid you get it?â You asked him as you fiddled with your thumbs, anxiously awaiting his answer.
âWhat do you think, flower?â He said with a smug look on his face. Teasing you with the insufferable nickname.
You smacked his shoulder, causing him to laugh as he feigned injury, putting up his hands in defense.
âI swear to god, Yoongi. Iâm going to beat your ass if you keep calling me that.â You groaned.
âBut youâre just so pretty, I couldnât help it.â He continued to laugh.
âIâm going to tell Ray to take your mat away.â You joked as you turned to sit shoulder to shoulder with him, backs against the wall.
âLet him. I wonât need it soon anyways.â
âFair.â You couldnât argue with his logic. âSo, howâd you take it without her knowing?â You questioned, somewhat worried that he mightâve been caught.
You trusted Yoongi with your life, but that didnât stop the anxiety from brewing within your chest. He was a smart man, but he wasnât exactly the most subtle of the two of you.
âLetâs just say-â he began, turning to you with a raised brow. You looked back at him with a confused expression, wishing heâd just give you an answer instead of toying with you, but thatâs just who Yoongi was. He was as much of a pain in your ass as you were in his. âMy tongue is good for more than just talking.â He continued.
You sat there dumbfounded as you attempted to register the words that just came out of his mouth, your own hanging open. Slowly, disgust took over your features as you processed what heâd said.
âStop! I donât want to hear about it.â You said as you scooted your body away from his dramatically. âGood job though, I guess.â You muttered.
âRelax. We just made out.â He groaned as he rolled his eyes. âYou really think I would stoop so low?â
âDesperate times call for desperate measures, Yoongi. A caged man will do almost anything for freedom.â You answered.
âI canât argue with your logic.â He sighed.
Your conversation was cut short as the sound of footsteps approaching echoed through the hallway.
âRay wants you in his office.â The man from earlier told you, as he opened the cell door.
He led you to Rayâs office, knocking a couple of times before opening the door, informing him of your presence.
âLeave us.â Ray told the man as you sat yourself of the chair across from his desk.
Once the door was closed and the two of you were alone, Ray directed his attention to you. He still looked at you with that nauseating expression. One that showed exactly how he viewed you.
âWhat did you want to see me for, flower?â He asked you as he rested his hands on the desk.
âI just-â you began, trying to find the right words to tell him. There wasnât room to mess up. You needed to tell him exactly what he wanted to hear. âI just wanted to thank you for being so hospitable towards Yoongi and I. I know that we werenât the easiest to deal with in the beginning, and I apologize for that.â You told him.
âI see. Is that all you wanted to tell me, flower?â He urged you on, his smirk growing wider as his eyes darkened. He was truly the scum of the earth.
You cleared your throat and straightened up in your seat before answering him. Willing yourself to let the words slip past your mouth.
Just be patient. You said to yourself internally. It wonât go that far.
âWhat I mean is, I want to make it up to you. I want to thank you properly for your kindness.â You told him.
âWell, flower. If that is what you want, then who am I to deny you?â He smirked as he made his way over to you.
You hesitated to stand, and he seemed to notice it as he pulled you up by your arms, guiding you towards him. The words you shared with Yoongi lingered through your mind. You were waiting for this moment. It was now or never. Failure, wasnât an option. If this didnât go as planned, you may never make it out of here alive.
10 minutes. You thought. Thatâs all you have to keep him occupied for.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Yoongi waited rather impatiently as the armed man led you out of the cell. Your words replayed in his mind as he counted in his head.
âIt takes about three minutes to get to Rayâs office.â He remembered what you said to him as he tapped his fingers against the cold concrete.
He kept his eyes on the man who stood on guard now. When you first got here, there were always two guards on duty. One for the each of you. With the new found âtrustâ they had in the two of you, they only sent one guard to oversee you. Youâd memorized the shift schedules, and knew that the guard whoâd be working at this time was one who wasnât very good at his job.
The man had his back to Yoongi as he leaned against the cell door, whistling to himself. Once Yoongi counted to 180, the tapping of his fingers stopped. It was time.
He was cautious not to make any noise as he stood up, creeping his way over to the unsuspecting guard. He held his breath as he slowly removed the tool heâd stolen from Carmen. A scalpel. Youâd urged him to challenge Carmenâs beliefs in an attempt to figure out whether she was actually with them or not, but to your dismay, she was as in deep with the rest of them. Had she not been so brainwashed, the two of you wouldâve saved her, but she was too far gone.
Yoongi firmly gripped the scalpel within his hand, slipping his hand through the bars of the cell and sliding the blade across the manâs throat without a second thought.
As the man fell to the ground, his hands wrapped around his neck in an attempt to stop the blood from spewing from his throat. The sound of gurgling filled the room as the man choked on his own blood. Yoongi stared down at him, unfazed as the life drained from the manâs body. Only for a moment, he considered apologizing to him. Letting him know that it wasnât personal, but that would be a lie. In that moment, something shifted inside of Yoongi. This was personal, and everyone in this hospital would pay for what they did to him and his friend. He would kill each and every one of them.
Once the man stopped moving, Yoongi quickly searched his pockets, removing the cell door keys and making his way out. He grabbed the machine gun from around the manâs corpse and placed it over his shoulder. There was no time to waste, he needed to get to you.
He snuck down the hallway, looking around each of the corners before he continued moving. As much as he wanted to be trigger happy, he needed to be patient. He couldnât expose his cover. Your instructions played within his mind as he continued his journey.
âAt the end of the hallway, make a right.â You said, and so he did. Quickly making his way to the end.
âContinue straight until you reach the stairwell on the left.â You continued, and he did as he was told. With urgently quiet steps, Yoongi was getting closer to you.
âTravel up the staircase until you reach the first floor, but be careful. Thereâs a guard to the left.â You cautioned. âHe wears headphones. You could either sneak past him or take him out. Itâs your call.â
Yoongi slowly opened the door, keeping his movements as minimal as possible as he once again graced his scalpel across the guards throat.
âDonât go for the head.â You told him. âLet them turn.â Your plan was coming together with the information that Carmen had so stupidly revealed to Yoongi.
Zombies werenât an accident. The government had employed some of the best scientists in the country to create the virus to be used as a weapon in war. It wasnât their intention for it to be exposed to the public, but with flawed individuals working on something so dangerous, mistakes were bound to happen. Somehow, the virus was exposed to the water, and in seemingly no time it spread across the entire world.
You didnât need to be bitten to contract the virus. You already had it. Everyone did, and as soon as you died, you would turn into a zombie. This is why you didnât want him to destroy the brain. You wanted everyone to turn and assist you in obtaining your freedom.
âOnce youâre past the guard, take a right down the hallway and then a left at the end of the corridor. There will be a guard right outside of Rayâs office. Get rid of him.â You told him.
As Yoongi peeked around the corner at the guard who stood in between him and you, he inhaled deeply before whistling to catch the guards attention. Once the man was around the corner, Yoongi quickly hit him in the head with the back of the gun, rendering him unconscious. Wasting no time, he slit the manâs throat and grabbed his gun before heading to the door.
You swallowed deeply as Ray kissed your neck, moaning against your skin as he picked up his pace. Your legs wrapped around his waist as you sat on his desk, your eyes glued to the door.
âI need you.â He groaned as he bit harshly against your skin, causing you to wince.
âNot yet. Kiss me.â You told him as you pressed your lips to his, allowing him enough space to connect his tongue with yours.
You closed your eyes tightly as you pushed away any doubt in your mind about Yoongiâs safety. Heâll be here soon. Heâs okay.
You were so focused on keeping yourself calm, and keeping Ray busy, that you hadnât realized Yoongi sneak into the room. His eyes burning with rage. It wasnât until Ray pulled away and looked at you with wide eyes that you realized what happened. Yoongi had the gun pressed against his head.
âGet away from her now.â He seethed.
Ray backed away from you with his hands raised in defense. A disbelieving smirk plastered on his face.
âWell Iâll be damned, Y/N.â He spoke. âI was wrong about you. Youâre not a delicate little flower at all. Are you? Youâre a poisonous thorn.â
âGet down on the ground.â Yoongi instructed him, pushing him to his knees.
You quickly hopped off the desk and made your way over to Yoongi.
âTake this.â He told you as he handed you the gun around his shoulder, never removing his own from the back of Rayâs head.
âYou canât possibly believe that youâll get away with this.â Ray spoke.
âWe already are.â You answered, now pointing your own gun at him.
âYou ungrateful fucks! I took care of you. I fed you and gave you a place to sleep.â He yelled angrily. âAnd you, flower. You would be dead if it wasnât for my help.â He seethed.
âTie him up, Yoongi.â You said.
The two of you had decided that Rayâs fate would lie in your hands. You would get to decide what happened to him.
Yoongi quickly tied his wrists to the desk and forced his ankles together, ensuring that he couldnât escape.
âDid you do what I told you to do?â You asked him as you began walking behind the desk.
âYep. Our guest of honor should be waking up at any moment.â He smirked.
âGood.â You simply answered as you searched through the drawers. Letting out a sigh of relief as you found a couple black markers and sticky notes.
âWhatâs that for?â Yoongi questioned.
âHope.â You told him. Still not wanting to give too much away about your friends. Although, it didnât matter. Ray would be dead soon anyways.
The room went quiet as a loud groan rang through the hallway, signaling that the guard had finally turned.
âIt seems like someone woke up.â Yoongi said as the two of you hid behind the door, opening it so that the first thing the guard would see is Ray.
âWhat the fuck are you doing? You canât just leave me here!â He yelled as he attempted to free himself.
As the zombie walked in, Ray panicked and began pleading for his life. It didnât matter to you though. You wanted him to feel the same fear you had felt. You wanted him to feel how he had made you feel so many times. Restrained and exposed. Once the zombie was close enough to Ray, the two of you snuck out and closed the door behind you. Shortly, the only sounds that you could hear were Rayâs painful screams as the zombie tore him apart and consumed him.
His pleas were soon replaced by the sound of a loud alarm ringing through the building.
âWarning, code red.â The robotic voice repeated over the speakers, indicating that zombies were spotted in the building.
âFuck! Weâve gotta move!â Yoongi yelled over the alarm as he took ahold of your arm and guided you.
The sound of footsteps heading in your direction willed Yoongi to pull you away from your position. Now headed in the opposite direction of Rayâs office. The footsteps were soon replaced with gun shots as they entered his office. Finding the gruesome scene that youâd left for them.
Screams began filling either side of the hallway. It seemed as if the zombies were becoming the majority much sooner than expected.
âAre you ready?â Yoongi asked you. You were going to have to shoot your way out of this.
âYeah, Iâm ready.â You told him. With a nod, the two of you began running towards freedom.
The sounds of gunfire filled the building as you both took out guards and zombies alike. You made your way to the corridor, heading down a different stairwell from the one that led to Rayâs office. Once you made it to the first floor, you followed the signs that pointed out the exit.
âStop right there!â An angry voice called out to you. You recognized it almost instantly.
âWeâre leaving, Carmen.â You yelled back. She was blocking your exit. She pointed a gun at you. Her shaky hands were a clear indication that she didnât know how to use it. Insecurity clouding each of her features.
âIâll fucking kill you!â She screamed as tears began falling from her eyes.
âCarmen, please. We donât want to hurt you. We just want to leave.â Yoongi tried to reason.
âYou ruined everything! You have no idea what youâve just done!â She screamed even louder, her demeanor falling more and more apart with each passing second.
âJust put the gun down.â Yoongi continued, attempting to walk towards her.
âStop it!â She screamed one last time before pulling the trigger.
Had her hands not been so unsteady, she wouldâve hit Yoongi. Had she known how to shoot a gun, she wouldâve pierced him directly on his forehead. Had your reflexes betrayed you, she would still be alive.
Yoongi ducked down as the bullet flew past him, landing in the wall. Without any hesitation, you aimed your gun and fired, hitting her in the head. Her body swayed for just a moment, before falling face down on the floor. Had you allowed yourself, you probably wouldâve felt an ounce of regret. You never intended on ending her life, but she left you no choice. You didnât even want to think about how many people you and Yoongi had killed today.
âWeâve gotta go!â He called to you.
As fast as your feet could carry you, the two of you ran through the exit. The sunlight hit you directly in the eyes, causing you to squint. It seemed like so long since youâve felt the burning touch of her rays, and even longer since youâve gotten to breathe the fresh air.
The two of you ran through the woods, putting any zombie who approached you to rest. You ran until the sound of the alarm faded, letting you know that you made it. You were truly free.
As you fell to the rough ground on your knees, doing your best to catch your breath, you allowed everything that youâd been holding onto escape as the tears fell relentlessly from your eyes. You sobbed harder than you ever have before.
The sound of Yoongi falling to his knees beside of you, and the way his chest shook as he wrapped his arms tightly around you let you know that he too was letting go of everything he held onto.
The two of you held each other close, crying in each otherâs arms as you felt as if a weight lifted off of your shoulders. You were free, but you still had to find your way home.
