Three Morpho butterflies, and the top left I believe is a Red-Spotted Purple butterfly, scientific name Limenitis arthemis astyanax :D
Fun Fact: Red-Spotted Purple butterflies are a subspecies of White Admiral butterflies!

But also during that episode Gabriel was pretending to leave for a couple of days on a business trip but was actually in his basement just collecting butterflies or breeding or something down there

I noticed the old/original version of this piece got some retweets recently and I haven’t posted to Tumblr in awhile, and it’s a pretty good time to dust off my account.
I call this piece “Butterfly Effect” because I just couldn’t resist that title no matter how hard I tried.

Now, imagine: butterflies as allegory of trauma. Butterflies looks beautiful, but some species like Purple Emperor — the male ones specifically — eats corpses. The female ones eats rotten fruit. If butterflies swarm you, you're rotten. Similarly, it also means cycle of rebirth, which can be twisted to cycle of abuse.
