Febuwhump Day 16: Semi-conscious

Fandom: Star Wars

Timeline: The Clone Wars/Star Wars Rebels

The battle was long and hard. Caleb never really minded fighting beside his master and his troops. It was exhausting and extremely challenging, both mentally and physically. He sometimes questioned why someone so young was a commander but he got to help people so that thought was often dismissed.

The clone beside him, as Caleb recalled his name was Duchess, was shot down. This wasn't the first time the padawan had seen one of his men die. It detracted him for all of a second. A second was all it took. A bullet hit Caleb in the lower abdomen.

He fell to the ground. Depa looked over to Caption Gray and he nodded. She rushed over to the boy and assessed his injury.

Caleb's head was spinning. He wasn't sure what had happened. His stomach burned. All he could hear was muffled words. His eyes flutter as he caught bits of the conversation that unfolded before him. Mostly his mother talking to him. She attempted to comfort him.

Depa was terrified. Caleb was just barely responsive to her and his pulse felt weak. Sure attachments were forbidden but she was close to her padawan. Caleb meant so much to her and seeing him so hurt made her feel useless. It was important that she protect him; as his master, superior, and his mother.

A medic arrived and prepared to take him somewhere safer. Caleb couldn't really think. Still he only understood parts of what was going on. He was moving? Someone had picked him up.

Comprehending what was happening hurt the boys head.

When the two got to the treage the medic further took care of the wound. He was dragged away to take care of a worse case. "I'll be right back, okay Caleb?" He spoke softly.

Caleb tried to answer but couldn't. An injured friend of his saw him and limped over to make sure he was okay. "Hey buddy, you okay?" Checkers spoke softly.

'huh' the kid thought. He moved his head slowly to face the soldier, "am I gonna die?" His voice was quiet and shaky.

Checkers rested his hand on the other cheek, "no, your not gonna die. I promise."

The padawan gave the clone a small smile. Everything was still hazy. "Okay." Checkers moved to sit beside his commander. The kid held a special place in the soldiers heart. While technically he was younger than Caleb, he worried a lot about him; most of the battalion did. He was so young and should even be in this war.

"Where's mom?" This took the clone by surprise. Everyone kinda knew that Depa and Caleb were close but hearing him say that she was like his mother unnerved Checkers. Not that there was a problem with that but because both were Jedi and he didn't want anything to happen to them. Attachments to him seemed inevitable but he wasn't a Jedi so he didn't really know.

"Shes okay" he reassured Caleb. The medic came back and finished what was left to do with the injury. After making sure he was okay, Chess left again to take care of others.

The battle ended not long after. It was a win for the republic. Depa quickly went to find Caleb. He was doing better. When she would arrive he was talking to Checkers about some clone gossip he had heard. Depa sighed and kneeled down beside him. "Caleb let Checkers rest."

"Oh I'm alright. I was just telling him about what Pawn and Knight said" He chuckled.

    "Is everyone alright?" Caleb asked.

"Mostly. It appears lucky this was a low casualty battle." Depa smiled. "Now both of you get some rest, we'll be leaving soon."

    "Yes sir." Both boys responded.

Kanan thought back to this event everyone now and again; mostly around the anniversary of the excursion of the Jedi. The memory stung more than the bullet that had hit him that day. One day he'd find the strength to forgive the clones, now that he knew it wasn't their fault. One day that memory wouldn't be tainted anymore.

Febuwhump Day 17: Silent Tears

Fandom: Star Wars

Timeline: The Clone Wars

Warning: Character death

Obi-wan had done all he could. When General Grievous showed his face he knew his day was about to get worse; everyone's day was about to get worse.

Grievous showed no mercy. He grabbed a nearby clone and turned around. As the Jedi pulled his lightsaber from the ground the clone whispered a quiet help. Kenobi met the separatists eyes and in a split of a second the clones skull was crushed in. Blood splatter against the Jedi. Anger festered in Obi-wan's heart. Blinding guilt led his next movements as the clone fell to the ground. He would later learn that the soldier's name was Robin and that in Cody's words a shiny. His first battle became his last.

The blood stained. Once back on The Negotiator the Jedi scrubbed at his face and hands. It wouldn't come off. When the battle had ended Obi-wan had taken Robin's body to the burial ground for the battle. Staring at his hands, now colored slightly lighter then the crimson blood that had covered them, he rubbed the rag harder and harder until his hand hurt. He found it ironic as in his eyes Robin's blood was on his hands. It was his fault.

Obi-wan gave up on his hands and desperately tried to clean his face. The splatter pattern made him shake. His skin became irritated as the rag dug into it. At the realization the evidence of his failure would have to fade the man through the cloth to the ground.

Memories like this never came at convenient times. It simply didn't matter to your brain where you were. Silent tears ran down Kenobi's cheeks as the council meeting went on. No one noticed until they looked to him for his input.

The man's eyes were rested on the ground; his legs were folded in the chair with him. The only movement other than the tears was his hands harshly yet barely being rubbed together.

The room was silent. "Master Kenobi?" Depa Balaba spoke. No answer.

"Master Kenobi are you alright?" A different Jedi master asked.

This time Obi-wan heard them. He looked up. "Oh yes. Why?" His voice was shaky.

    "Crying you are."

"I am?" He raised an arm and brushed a finger under his eye. "Oh it appears I am." The Jedi attempted to chuckle to ease the tension. He cleared the tears from his face and tried to calm himself.

Plo Koon stood and walked over to Obi-wan. "What's going on?" He whispered.

"I'm alright really. Thank you Plo." He sighed and nodded, signaling Plo to go back to his seat. "My apologies. What are we talking about?"

The room was covered with concerned faces. Slowly Mace Windu gave Obi-wan a brief explanation of what the group had been talking about. After adding his opinion the general asked if he could step out for a moment. The grand master nodded and he excused himself.

When he walked back in no one could tell anything happened. Most came to the conclusion that the problem had something to do with the blood stains that painted his face and hands.

Silent and not silent tears became more and more common in the safety of the counsel room. As the weight of war crushed the masters they cracked more and more during meetings. Sometimes simple words triggered the memories and sometimes no one knew what happened. Most were friends and tried to help each other. Meetings were inconvenient for metal breakdowns but a safe place was a safe place. No one judged as they knew the horrors of war well. The Jedi were born to be peace keepers; born to be companionate. Now the lead soldiers into battle. Their hearts were breaking and their tears showed the irreversible damage that had been done.

Febuwhump Day 25: Assumed Dead

Fandom: Star Wars

Timeline: The Clone Wars

Dooku's crimson lightsaber plunged through Rex's lower back. Anakin turned around. Obi-wan had told them to leave, he would take care of Dooku. Apparently he lied. "Rex!" Anakin yelled. The clones body fell to the ground.

Anger flooded Anakin's heart. From his heart the grief used his veins to spread to the rest of his body. It took control of him and suddenly he was running to fight the sith. Lightsabers clashed as the Jedi pushed Dooku away from Rex.

Rex couldn't move. He knew what happened; he could tell that Anakin thought that the injury had killed him. The pain made his somewhat wish it had. All the commander could do was hope that someone would notice.

"Anger is not the Jedi way Skywalker." Lightsabers clashed again.

    "Shut up."

Obi-wan pulled himself from the floor. Dooku had slammed him against the wall with the force. He had lost consciousness for, to him, an unknown amount of time. He quickly walked to where the current fight was taking place. His eyes landed on Anakin and Dooku first then to the injured soldier.

Anakin fought dangerously. Swift, anger-filled movements took Dooku slightly by surprise. However what Anakin didn't realize was he fought much better without the guidance of anger.

Obi-wan moved to join his brother in the fight against his grandfather. Fighting Dokku could be difficult sometimes but in the end it had to be done.

Rex still couldn't move. The men were unaware that his heart still beat and that his lungs still heaved air in and out. If they didn't come to the concussion soon they would be correct. Rex wasn't sure what hurt more the wound or his general's reaction. He wasn't aware Anakin cared so much for him. The feeling was both comforting and eerie .

Before long the Jedi had to retreat. Anakin looked over to his master with a question in his eyes. Obi-wan nodded understanding the words reflected in his eyes. Leaving the fight, Anakin kneeled down beside Rex and picked him up. "I'm so sorry Rex. I'm sorry." He whispered.

Obi-wan ran after Anakin and the three entered the nearby Republic star ship. On the ship Anakin carried Rex to the medical bay. There the droids would take him to the morgue.

Obi-wan stayed with Anakin until Rex was rested on the cold medical table. There Obi-wan studied Rex's body to see if he had sustained any other injuries. Found memories of the man flooded his mind.

"Obi-wan, go lay down." Anakin turned to face him.

"Alright." He nodded and walked a little closer to the table. "Rest eas- Anakin he's not dead." As soon as Obi-wan pointed to the slow rise and fall of Rex's chest, Anakin called over a medical droid. None of the droids had come over to assist the three because Rex had been proclaimed dead and there were living soldiers who needed their help.

The droids would start to work on Rex almost immediately. Anakin helped Obi-wan over to a bed. There after the older of the two were taken care of they would wait for updates on everyone's conditions. When they finally got the news Rex would be fine both somewhat relaxed. Of course the two cared for all of their men but both were rather close to Rex.

When the soldier woke up he was greeted by his friends. Everything would be fine. Not many people could say they survived a sith encounter. At least Rex could.

A Month of Whump Day 4: Fantasy

Fandom: Star Wars

Summary: What happens when Anakin discovers force healing? Well he tries to use it of course.

Warning: Major character death

As soon as Anakin learned it was possible to heal people with the force he started trying to learn how. He dove head first into any research he could find. No one could really talk to him, it consumed his brain. The man practically lived in the library until the republic gave him his next mission.

Anakin entered the docking bay with three larger books. Some papers stuck out of books. "Are you still working on that mystery project?" Ahsoka asked.

    "Yep." He sighed.

"Why won't you tell me what it is?"

"I'll tell you adventaly, right Rex?"

"Oh, um sure." The clone turned around.

"Do you even know what you just agreed to?" Ahsoka walked over beside him.

    "Nope."

"I said that I'll tell you two about my mystery project at some point. Now come on, we need to board the ship."

From there they boarder the Resolute. After some time they would arrive to their destination. The battle that was ahead of them was bloody and unforgiving. Soldier after soldier fell. At this point Anakin knew that he could'nt help them all. He could just try his best to keep them as safe as possible.

Beside him stood his padawan. The two deflected blaster fire, keeping track of the number of droids they destroyed to compare later. This time the bullet just barely slipped past the green blade and hit Ahsoka in the chest. The girl fell to the ground.

Anakin slightly looked to his side and fell to the ground to make sure she was alive. Checking for a pulse he discovered that she had one but it was weak. Without much thought he moved his hand and lightly touched the life threatening wound. The padawan never moved. The Jedi's mind felt empty as he breathed in calmly. The wound started to heal. Not much time passed before Ahsoka no longer felt the pain for her now nonexistent bullet wound.

Ahsoka stood. "What just happened?" She mumbled. The girl felt fine. Anakin however did not. He felt weak; weak and tired. His mind was foggy. Trying to really think was a battle of its own. Standing slowly he was barely being able to keep his feet under him. It felt as if his head was spinning and his breathing speed up. The field in front of him was blurry. Swaying he lifted his lightsaber.

The Jedi tried to fight through the fog. If he couldn't fight what else could he do? If for some reason he had to leave the 501st to take a leave, what would happen if they were stuck with another Krell? The man had no injuries so what was causing all of this?

It finally hit him. Healing Ahsoka had exhausted him. The power it took to heal her was just enough to cause the reaction. Now he just needed to stand long enough to win this battle, to make sure his soldiers were safe.

"Anakin?" Ahsoka questioned. The man didn't hear her. Not even five minutes went by before he collapsed.

Ahsoka wasn't really sure what was going on. One moment he was fine and standing next to her and the next she was on the ground. After her older brother stood she knew he wasn't okay. Ahsoka kneeled down quickly and searched for a cause.

Standing she became even more confused. Anakin had no injuries. Physically he appeared to be fine. "Medic!" She yelled. Quickly the man was taken away to be taken care of.

Kix couldn't figure out what was wrong with his general. His condition wasn't changing much. He sent him off to the battalion aid station.

Later Anakin would wake up with Ahsoka and Rex at his bedside waiting. After a moment he spoke, "hey."

    "Hey Skyguy." Snips responded softly.

"Anakin, what happened?" Rex asked, concerned.

"You know that thing I was looking into? It's called force healing. I didn't want to tell you just in case." Anakin looked over at Ahsoka, "I'm glad it worked."

"Wait, what? Skyguy what caused you to collapse?"

"I think it was the energy needed to actually make it work."

"I didn't know Jedi could do that." Rex looked astonished. Everyday the force amazed him more and more.

"I'm here." Fives entered the room. Once he saw his general awake he sighed with relief.

With further research the four would learn that force healing worked by pouring one's own life force into the wounded to heal them. This would come at the experience of the healer. Every time Anakin would do this he would need time to rest afterwards if the injury was bad enough. Ahsoka wanted to learn now. She'd tell Obi-wan but neither could figure it out. It was an incredibly rare talent that Anakin had been both cursed and blessed with.

Anakin would often overexert himself. Channeling the power helped to save many lives and it tore Anakin's apart. The Jedi was tired all the time. He missed his once energetic life. Leading his battalion was harder than it used to be. His friends worried about him.

The man would have to learn who he could and couldn't help; when it was time to let someone go and when to save them. If Anakin never learned he would end up dead. He knew it was a possibility but simply ignored it. So now, when he lie dead in the cold mub as Cody rose from the ground they all understood he never learned, never would have learned, that sometimes it was time to let go. That eventually he would trade his life for someone else's. It was only a matter of time.

Whumpril Day 13: Burry Vision/"I Think I Need to Sit Down."

Fandom: Star Wars The Clone Wars.

Summary: Obi-wan gets wounded by Grievous. Cody's in there to just wait till closer to the end.

Blood poured from Obi-wan's head. He had been slammed into a nearby wall by General Grievous. The Jedi stood back up swiftly and pushed off the wall. He swung his lightsaber towards his foe.

As the fight continued Obi-wan's strikes became less coordinated. His vision started to blur. The nearby blaster fire mixed with the color of Grievous's blue lightsabers. It confused him. Using the force to find where the blades would be coming from, Kenobi looked for a way out. He had two goals now, don't let any more of the men be killed by Grievous and survive.

The 212th had the upper hand in the fight. The main issue was Obi-wan's injury. He hoped to stick it out until Grievous would eventually retreat. Blinking he tried to get rid of the blurriness.

A few minutes felt like an hour and Grievous was gone. "This isn't over Kenobi" he spoke calmly and angrily.

"Of course it's not" he whispered. Obi-wan wanted to come up with something to say but his splitting headache made it difficult to think.

Obi-wan stumbled around the area, trying not trip over droids and over his men's bodies. A shot from behind startled him. Turing around, lightsaber drawn, he heard a voice. "Obi-wan!"

He saw the white and he saw the orange meaning the voice had to be a member of the 212th. Which member he wasn't sure at first.

A new droid laid on the ground behind him. The clone jumped over it and ran up to his jedi. "Are you alright?" A hand carefully touched the man's upper arm and Obi-wan knew who it was.

"Yes, I'm alright. Thank you dear."

    "Don't thank me; thank Wooly.

Obi-wan looked around, trying to find Wooly. "Thank you."

    "That's not Wooly."

    "Oh. Where is he?"

    "I'm right here General. Anytime."

Obi-wan took a few shaky steps forward. Cody held his arms out just in case he needed to catch the other.

The Jedi stopped for a second. " I think I need to sit down"  His legs gave out from underneath him. Cody slid and caught him.

"Wooly." Cody sounded scared. Woolly moved in and grabbed the general and took him to the triage. His wound would be taken care of there.

Later Obi-wan would wake up. His head throbbed but at least he could see clearly. Looking around he tried to find his commander.

After a little while Cody would appear to check on his lover. "Hey dear" he kneeled down to Obi-wan, "how are you feeling?"

"Better. That was a good catch."

"Thanks. I've gotta go but I figured I should check on you."

"Go on." Cody nodded and left.

Obi-wan could deal with a concussion. Cody would get him up every hour, even though he told him it wasn't necessary.

Tears welled in his eyes as he thought of the memory of his lovers kindness. The sandy planet of Tatooien was lonely. His vision blurred and he sighed knowing, even if he was never supposed to have it, he would never have it again. Cody was gone, not dead, but gone. He was forever out of reach. There was no one to help him, no one to dry his tears and there never would be again.

Whumptober Day 9: Mistaken Identity

Fandom: Star Wars The Clone Wars

Warning: Character Death

Summary: While sitting with a dying soldier, Fives gets mistaken for one of his batch mates.

Fives had known that being mistaken for one of his brothers was possible. He never expected to happen in this way. The man looked at the clone. A piece of shrapnel had caught him in the side. It had gone clean though his armor. He held pressure around the wound, unsure of what to do with the debris.

"You're going to be okay" he tried to comfort him. The soldier kept grabbing at him, panic filling him. Fives held one of his hands with the one he wasn't using to keep him alive.

The wounded raised the hand, trying to pull Fives closer. It was cold but the sun was peaking out of the clouds. The wind blew harshly, knocking orange, yellow, and red leaves into the gunfire. They sprinkled to the ground, a red one landing next to the dying man.

"Rocky, I don't wanna go" he said.

Fives didn't expect to be called Rocky. He hid his confusion, "you're going to be okay."

"Rocky" he grabbed his shoulder and pulled him closer. "I'm scared."

"You'll be okay." Fives knew what was happening. He wasn't going to be okay. All he could do was pretend to be this guy he didn't even know. He couldn't leave him and he wasn't going to let him know he was going to die with a random stranger.

He was delusional. He couldn't see. He didn't know what was going on. He just cried as the world he knew came to a close. "Rocky, tell-" his words became quiet whispers and Fives couldn't understand him. He felt his body go limp and he laid him back down to the ground.

The red leaf blew away. It fled into the wind.

Fives sighed. Too many of his brothers met an end like this. After the battle he became obsessed with finding Rocky. He didn't know anything about the man he had been mistaken for. All he knew was a name. But he had to know. He needed to at least meet the man he pretended to be for a dying brother.

He asked everyone. He searched the 501st for him. Finally someone had an answer for him. "I think he's over there. He and his buddy are looking for their batch."

    Fives walked over. "You Rocky?"

    "If I am?"

    'He's Rocky alright" Fives thought.

"I wanted to talk to you. I was with a friend of yours. I never got his name."

The man next to Rocky has a terrified look on his face.

"I was with him, when he died."

"Died?" Rocky asked. "what do you mean, died?" He started to raise his voice.

"He was calling me by your name. Seemed like you were close."

Rocky's tough exterior started to crack. His eyes started to water. "Did his armor have leaves on them? One really messed up one on the chest plate?" Every bit of spite and anger that had been in his voice slipped away.

The man next to him placed a hand on his shoulder.

    "Yeah."

Rocky shook. He turned to his friend, years in his eyes, and hugged him. The man looked surprised but held him.

The role Fives had played was bigger than he thought. He knew how Rocky felt. Or maybe he didn't. Maybe he understood as much as he could understand. He probably felt the same pain as when he had lost Echo.

"I'm sorry for your loss. If you want to talk about him-?"

"Thank you." The other man spoke up. "Maybe we'll come find you later."

"Okay." Fives started to walk away.

    "Did he say anything?"

Fives stopped. He turned around. Rocky wasn't standing too far from him and his friend wasn't far from him. "He wanted you to tell something to someone. He- wasn't able to say a name or what."

    "Okay."

"Are you two gonna be okay?"

    "Yeah, we'll be fine."

"Okay. Come find me if you need anything okay? Literally anything."

    "Thank you."
