Ch.1: Before and Now

Ch.1: Before And Now

Ch.2

My father I remember only slightly. My mother had apparently been in love with a wolf from the forest and snuck away from her owners to be with him.

After a while she became bestowed with the responsibility of carrying me. When she gave birth she went back to her humans who then decided that I looked too much like a wolf, and then proceeded to rip me away from my mother to be taken to a wolf reserve park where we are fenced off and watched by human kind. It disgusts me.

I grew up different from the other wolves; my coat was more luscious, and I had a coat color similar to my mothers. We both have a coat color similar to the pattern and color of a Great White shark; well at least that's what a kid said when they were watching me. They also said that my eyes were quite uncommon, and that she had never seen the purple eye color before in a wolf, guess that makes me even more different, just great.

This place has taken away my puppy hood years, and I will not allow it to take away my adult years as well. I plan on escaping from this wretched place.

I've been watching humans, when they need to check on us they dart the one they need, that wolf then proceeds to fall into an unusual sleep that deeply disturbs me, but seems fine with the others since they just sit around. I've noticed that the humans seem to notice this and leave the doors open slightly when they do, that's my ticket out. I just have to get the timing correct and I can be in the while with a pack. Or I can be a lone wolf if the idiot of an alpha thinks I'm omega material.

_______

It's dawn now, and it's been nearly 6 months since our last checkup. Two humans arrive, one takes out the dart gun and shoot a wolf. He fell asleep instantly. The human starts to walk over to the sleeping wolf, the other stands a few feet in our enclosure, but slightly to the side of the open door, their biggest mistake was thinking that I was liking it here.

I burst through the bush I was hiding in, startling the person, he tries to close the door but I'm already through and running towards the forest, and far away from this hell. I can hear the humans getting in their monsters that they call vehicles, and yelling at each other, probably how I got out. I know that I will have to run really far if I want to escape their searching grounds, I need to push myself a lot harder than I usually do, but I have been practicing my endurance running in the enclosure so I should be fine for at least a couple of weeks.

_______

It's been weeks since I've escaped, and the humans have ceased their search parties. Well I don't know, I'm just assuming since I can't smell their wretched scent here. I do however catch the scent of a group of three females, and a male pup. They do however also carry the stale stench of humans as well.

'Who could they be? They might be like me where they also escaped their human captures, or they could be set free, but that is unlikely.'

As I near the scent I come to the tree line, and cautiously walk out and crouch slightly to look over the hill, to where I pinpointed the scent.

I looked to see exactly what I smelled, but now I see I missed the male packs scent. There are 4 males, but the largest seems to be the alpha. He takes a stance that is saying 'friend or foe' towards the group of females. I see the white wolf leap forward.

'They are definitely human mongrels, they don't even know how to respect an alpha'.

She is such an idiot, why did she do that? That action just challenged the alpha, it also disrespected him, but I can't let her get killed. Something about her seems lonely, and in need of a friend, not to mention that we both look different compared to the others. Her family does nothing as she gets attacked by the alpha; she reminds me of myself slightly.

I've had enough. I sprint over the hill startling both packs, except for the alpha and white wolf who are busy fighting. I put all my weight in my shoulder and ram straight into the alpha's ribs, sending him flying a few feet.

He'll probably take a while to get up from that. I learned that trick when an older wolf tried to take my food, but I wasn't having it.

I look down at the white wolf and help her up, however as soon as she is up I fail to hear the alpha charging at me. He grips onto my neck and throws me to the side; as I try to get up he uses his size to his advantage and throws all his weight on me as he bites down into my neck. I try to bite him but can't reach, and each time I try he tightens his grip; causing me to growl in anger and pain. I'm eventually tired due to my lack of food, and my continuous running to get away from the humans; resulting in my body eventually collapsing due to dehydration, starvation, as well as overall exhaustion.

I feel his weight lifting off me as he gets up; by now both the packs were waiting for the end result of the fight. The alpha won this one, but wait till I get my strength back, then we'll have a rematch.

Ch.2: Pack Placements

Ch.1 Ch.3

I try to get up after he's off me, but he quickly growls a warning to stay down; I don't listen and try to get up only to be pushed down by the alpha. I growl at him in frustration and anger before I bite his paw, causing him to hop up in surprise and jump off me; allowing me to try to get up again.

I'm quite weak however, and can barely stand up after wasting all that energy that I required to go hunting for food with. If I'm not accepted into his pack I could die of starvation, dehydration, or of having another animal kill me while I'm in my weakest state. I might even accept being an omega if it means I'll survive long enough to gain energy and kick his arrogant ass.

The alpha turns away and starts to converse with the oldest of the females. I sigh and try to get up again, but he left a few deep gashes in my sides that I didn't realize were there until the adrenaline wore off. So I simply lay there waiting to see if he might still allow me to join his pack after my attack. The white wolf walks over to me, looking down at me in gratitude.

"Here, let me help you." She says as she pushes me up and allows me to lean my weight on her. She walks me over to an area slightly away from the pack where she then lets me sit. I see her looking around. I wonder what she's looking for, but then she picks up a couple of dandelions. I look at her strangely, but her face says 'trust me', so I simply allow her to walk up to me.

"This might freak you out a little bit." She voices before placing a dandelion on each of my wounds, which then proceed to disappear as if I was never injured, there was however light scars on my side from where the alpha raked his claws; but at least the wounds are gone as well as the pain.

"My name's Huata, I just wanted to thank you for having my back over there." She says as she gestures to when she was getting attacked due to her unwise attempt to be friendly.

"My name's Ceska, and thanks for healing my wounds; it would've taken ages for them to heal naturally." I respond as I get up and start walking slowly back to the pack, Huata follows me closely. Seems like I actually have managed to meet a wolf that isn't arrogant or annoying, what a surprise; this is probably my first friend I've made. Well she seems happy as well, she must not be popular in her family; well, at least we have each other now.

As we make our way back, the alpha is greeting the young blonde wolf, which I assume is Huata's sister; well, she looks like a bitch is all I can say. The alpha looks up from greeting her, and growls deeply at me, I return the favor by relaying a louder growl while baring my teeth. The reddish tan wolf looks up and growls at me, I snarl in return which causes him to bare his teeth at me. He lunges but I easily sidestep and pin him to the ground. The alpha and a gray wolf drag me off him and hold me down while I'm scraping holes in the earth as I try to attack the red wolf. He gets up and looks at me in fear, slight anger, and disgust.

"What should we do with her alpha? I asked the oldest female if she was with them, but she was just as surprised as we were when she showed up." He questions as he looks up at his alpha.

The alpha allows me up, but not before giving me a warning growl to not attack. For once I listened, but only because I still wanted to kind of be accepted into his pack.

"She is a strong female Trot, and she could be useful in hunting and battles, but if she gets out of place....", he growls at the end before stalking away, followed by the gray wolf. I turn around to see the wolf known as Trot watching me; I growls at him before stalking off to find Huata. At least I have a friend now. Hopefully she'll continue to be my friend since I know no one else will be.

As I walk up to Huata I see her talking with the black wolf, Hinto, I believe his name was.

"Hi Huata", I address her as I sit beside her.

"Hey Ceska, I'd like you to meet Hinto, he tried to help me before you came into the fight." Huata informed me as I looked at him. He looked friendly, but at the same time he looked dangerous. I think we'll stay as acquaintances. We simply nodded at each other after Huata introduced us.

Dasker allowed me into his pack as a warrior and hunter, sadly Huata is an omega, and Hinto was demoted to lower than omega due to him challenging Dasker to protect Huata. I'll have to challenge him later, when I win I'll make sure to promote Hinto and Huata.

It's night time, and Anemy, Huata's sister, is attacking Huata; sadly Huata does nothing seeing as that would then bring more pain, I however will not allow my only friend get bossed around. I jump forward and tear Anemy off of Huata; ohh how pissed she looked. She even tried to bite me but I threw her into a tree and helped Huata up. She looked at me in gratitude as we walked off and chilled with Hinto. They got into a conversation about what being an omega means for the pack. I suddenly heard them start talking about proving their worth by finding a huge meal. They say they'll go in the cover of night, so I should hear when they go to leave, so I can follow them.

I return to see the pack getting ready to sleep. Kilo seems to be insulting Trot on how he's no longer beta. Trot seems to get offended at Kilo's statement and starts to growl in anger; Trot actually doesn't seem too bad now. He's just sensitive and reserved, he actually seems nice to be around.

"He's right, I've been replaced, I'm unworthy." Trot says in despair as he lays down. I walk out from behind the bushes, and start walking closer to him. He looks up and growls in anger as he remembers our fight earlier. I look at him in a friendly way as I wave my tail slightly, and walk up to him. To say he was surprised is an understatement, he looked beyond surprised and confused at that moment where I showed kindness to him, especially after how we almost got into a fight.

"Hi, I believe we got off on the wrong paw... My name is Ceska." I say hesitantly as I look at him.

"Trot, but I'm sure you already knew that." He replies.

"Listen I'm sorry for attacking your alpha, but he was attacking my friend who unknowingly disrespected him. Come on, how do you expect a human raised wolf to react, they know nothing of pack life...... and I'm also kind of sorry for attacking you. At that moment I wasn't thinking straight, I was overly aggressive, and should've been thinking more. I actually think you're pretty sweet, and nice." I explain as I look at him.

"It's okay, I was fighting my alphas battles, not to mention I should've expected you to be aggressive, after all you did just get attacked by our alpha, I should've been more considerate." He replies as he looks at me in understanding. I look at him in happiness, I just made another surprising friend, and he was even one I got in a fight with. I didn't think it was possible.

"Mind if I stay over here with you. I'm not really a favorite of anybody else, and Hinto and Huata are already asleep so I don't want to wake them. Of course that is only if you're okay with it; I wouldn't want to be intruding." I stated as I stood slightly uncomfortable. He simply looked at me and smiled.

"Of course you can stay over here, you're my friend now, so I don't exactly mind." He replies as he motions to the spot next to him. I walk over a lay down a few inches apart, which is a friendly spacing between two wolves who aren't mates, so as to not make him feel uncomfortable. We both drift off into sleep.

Ch.3: The Hunter And The Hunted

Ch.2 Ch.4

I woke up in the early morning to see Hinto and Huata leaving. I follow them, and leave quietly so as to not walk up Trot. We go sprinting through the forest, searching for smells of any prey; Huata locates an open field full with bison.

"Nice find Huata." I voice as I step between them, causing them both to jump in surprise at my sudden appearance.

"Where did you come from?" Hinto and Huata question in unison. I merely shake my head with a teasing smile.

"I'll never tell." I reply before looking back to the bison.

"We need the pack, no way we three can take down an adult. Hinto, you wait here; Huata and I will get the pack. Me being the best hunter in the pack will probably make them more cooperative." I explain as I turn around before sprinting into the forest back to the pack with Huata.

All of the sudden Huata stops, I turn around to see her mutter a name, but right after a mountain lion attacks her. It has her by the neck, but she's doing nothing, simply saying that she means no harm to the mountain lion cub. I'm about to attack when a huge lioness comes out of nowhere and pins the mountain lion down against the floor. I simply stood there in confusion at what was happening in front of me.

Huata stands up and says,

"Let her go Sespria." The lioness allowed the mountain lion to go, it then proceeded to grab her offspring and sprint away.

She then proceeds to talk with Huata, but surprisingly I can understand everything they're saying. They greet each other like old friends. Huata ends the conversation quickly, and then we both start sprinting back towards the pack.

By now everyone is up, and awaiting to see what we have to say. Anemy looks overjoyed about finding food, while Trots looks relieved to see me; everyone sprints behind us as we lead them to the bison herd. However when we arrive the herd is stampeding, Huata and I go after one as we are at the front. Anemy goes to bite Huata, but she simply hops up onto the bison next to her; while Anemy is tackled by Kilo who looks beyond pissed that she would start a fight right now.

I however have fallen back to see what's happened to Ash, she seems injured and is sitting down. Trot is next to me as we ask what's wrong. As I help Trot get Ash up we look back to see how the hunting is going.

"Huata watch out there's a human den, and you're heading right for it." I yell as Ash and Trot yell human. Huata sees it, and jumps off the bison mere seconds before it collides and is killed by the impact of hitting the building.

Huata for some reason looks sad that the bison was killed, but I brushed past the thoughts and helped Ash over to the bison. I grab a huge chunk out of its thigh and walk away to eat it in peace. I see Hinto laying down as he isn't allowed to eat because of Dasker, but Huata shares her portion with him. They start to walk into the human den, but I dare not follow in fear of my past; yet I'm interested in what they're going to do.

Trot walks over to me and lays next to me with a piece of meat from the bison. I seem to eat more than the average wolf seeing as my piece was at least three times bigger than what he was eating. He looked at my food ration in surprise as he stretched slightly.

"I was worried about you." He voices slowly and quietly as he starts to nibble on his food. I look at him in slight surprise and confusion.

"Why would you be worried about me?" I question as I look at him. He looks up and meets my gaze. He seems confused and conflicted with himself. I tilt my head sideways, waiting for an answer.

"I've never had a friend like you." Is all he says quietly as he continues eating, I take it that the conversation is over, so I start eating my food too. Dasker starts a pack howl, everyone howls, but mine is deep, similar to Dasker's but slightly higher in pitch. Trot looks at me in surprise after he howls. I simply shrug it off, I'm not even a full wolf, but it takes a very trained eye to notice I'm collie and wolf.

I then see Huata and Hinto howling from the top of the human den, Dasker seems to be in awe as he stares at Huata; I hope he doesn't plan on choosing her as his mate, she would not enjoy that scenario.

I get up and follow the pack back to our camp, which is pretty much just a clearing inside a circle of bushes and trees. I look at Trot and see him and Hinto talking about how fun it will be to have pups, and look over to see Huata talking to her mother about what mating season is. I feel odd, I've never had a mate before, and if Dasker chose me what would I do; you can't deny the alpha.

After all he would choose you out of all the other females, but I don't want to be his mate; besides I have another male who I would much rather prefer.

I look to see Anemy flirting with Dasker, I guess I know who he'll choose, after all at least I won't have to worry about having to be his mate now. I see Kilo tell Dasker he's going after the coyotes along our territory, I see Dasker send Trot to follow him; worry starts to course through my body as I think that Trot might get injured. I look at Dasker, he's too busy with Anemy to notice me slip after Trot and Kilo, I quickly catch up quickly enough to see Kilo and Trot arguing

Kilo growls and tackles Trot to the ground, I leap out and growl at Kilo, snarling and snapping my teeth together as a warning for him to back off. Kilo threatens Trot to stay out of his way; I launch myself at Kilo, grabbing him by the neck. and throwing him off Trot. As I help Trot to his feet he snarls,

"You're going to have a lot of explaining to do when Dasker finds out what you've been doing behind his back."

I turn around to see Kilo staring at a dead coyote. All of the sudden he's thrown into a fight with a lioness similar to the one Huata was talking to.

They fight, and when Kilo thinks he's won, he turns his back, and that was his mistake; the lioness jumps forward and snaps Kilos back with a sickening crack being heard. I can hear Kilo saying how this is bad, I leap forward and shove my sharp shoulder into the lioness, knocking her off of Kilo; however before I can help him I'm knocked away, and see the lioness running away, before darkness consumes my vision.

I wake up to see I'm hidden in bushes, I see Trot trying to push Kilo, he sends a distress call to call the rest of the pack; hopefully they'll come soon. I jump up and try to help, but Kilo just isn't moving, he keeps telling us to leave before the lioness comes back, and to be honest I want to listen but I can't leave Trot behind so I continue to push.

Out of nowhere the lioness tackles me to the ground and raps her jaws around my neck, I struggle, but can't loosen her grasp, Trot leaps at her and rips her off me where they then engage in fighting.

When Trot tries to get back to Kilo he turns around to see claws, I howl in fury after he is left with scratches racked across his face, I go berserk and tear my teeth through her paw, I can feel my jaw strength crush straight through her bones, and tear through her muscles and tendons. She let out a monstrous roar of immense pain, and raced out of there before I could inflict any more pain.

I walk over to Trot to see he is blinded, yet still trying to help Kilo; I help him lift Kilo onto our backs as we stagger towards the pack. He starts running and I don't have time to warn him of the root, he trips causing me to fall as well, and dragging Kilo in front of us during the process.

Trot gets up and tries to get Kilo up but ends up falling into the process.

"Give it up, Trot, we're going nowhere right now." I bark, my voice pain filled and coarse as I lay on the ground, my throats throbbing and are bleeding a lot now. Trot simply lays on top of Kilo in failure as he is now completely exhausted. I can feel myself slipping into a state of unconsciousness as I bleed out through the bites to my throat.

Ch.4: An Encounter With Death

Ch.3 Ch.5

I wake up to find my throat wrapped in leaves, I sit up in confusion,

'What happened, where am I? Are Trot and Kilo OK?'

All these questions were racing through my head when I heard the overjoyed barking and whining coming from Trot as he strides over to me in slight happiness. I looked at him and noticed he had scars over his eyes but could still see, Huata must've healed us.

I try to stand but falter and nearly collapse to the ground. Trot rushes over to my side and pushes me to my paws; he walks me over to where Huata is explaining what she could do for Kilo, and what she couldn't heal.

Hinto was angry and told Huata she has to do something, but I know she said done all she can for him; nothing can heal his back. Trot tries to assure Kilo he'll be fine because of how Huata stopped the bleeding, but I know he will surely be gone by Sunset.

Dasker calls him pathetic, causing my blood to boil, I turn and growl at him,my hackles raised and my jaws snapping viciously. Dasker turns and growls at me, but then continues to say how we should leave him for the buzzards to pick him apart. Trot explains how that's not the Dasker he knows, and Kilo starts laughing; however through this commotion I notice Huata slipping away, and I soon follow in haste to know where she's going.

Huata is talking to the lioness known as Sespria, but I smell another presence, the same scent of the lioness that will soon be the murderer of Kilo.

As soon as I see her I step out, growling viciously, and baring my teeth, eyeing down the lioness who attacked us. Huata, Sespria, and the lioness all seem surprised by my presence, Huata looks surprised, Sespria looks surprised and defensive, while the lioness looks fearful; and I know exactly why.

"Ceska! Where did you come from?" Huata asks, surprised, with slight fear in her tone.

"I followed you, thinking of what you were doing, clearly you are with the enemy. The ones that are going to be the killers of Kilo!" I snarl as I take a threatening stride towards them. Huata jumps in front of me, stopping me in my tracks.

"That lioness is lucky she made it out with a mere broken paw, quite the small price to pay for killing our pack mate, don't you think." I voiced angrily as I snapped at them.

"Listen, Ceska she was merely listening to her instincts, it's not her fault and they won't do it again, I promise." Huata tried to reason. I looked at her in anger, but in the end she was right, if I was the lioness I would've attacked us as well; I am also unable to defeat two lionesses at the same time. I back off slightly, but am still baring my teeth at them.

Huata and I suddenly hear the distress howl of Hinto. We race towards his scent but find nothing. I then look up to see him struggling to free himself from a vine, but I then look back down to see a white lynx and a white fox appear out of nowhere. They shift their vision to myself then to Huata, I even hear the lynx saying,

"The mixed one has dark and light energy, I'll keep an eye on her." They both had white fur and red eyes that were practically identical to Huata.

It made me uneasy when they started talking as if we weren't even there, they even said things that I think they were saying about Hinto; like how they caught one with a mistaken identity, and that he doesn't know what he is. It was seriously confusing me, and Huata's whining was really annoying.

Suddenly Hinto falls down from the tree, landing on us; when we looked back the lynx was gone. The rain that just began also isn't really helping the situation. How did that lynx know I wasn't full wolf, and what did she mean by dark and light energy?

After that confusing exchange between us after Hinto fell on us Huata tells us about her past and how she freed Sespria, and that Sespria must've freed her entire pride; we have a huge issue on our paws if we run into the pride.

Hinto explains how it isn't really Huata's fault, and that Kilo sneaking around behind Dasker's back has finally caught up to him. Huata ran up to him and hugged like how I've seen humans hug, strange. Hinto then proceeds to show her how wolves hug, but when she reciprocates his actions he seems a little numb.

They are so cute, too bad they aren't the alpha pair, they could have puppies if they were, and they would be way better than Dasker.

_______

When we returned to the pack Ash brought us straight to Kilo's body which was showing his ribs and leg bones as coyotes and vultures picked always at him.

I look over and saw Trot trying not to lose it. His letting out of consistent whines, and his pupils are constantly changing size and dilating. I also see Hinto growling and barely holding back until they both snap. Trot starts attacking the vultures while Hinto kills the coyotes.

"I should never have left him alone." Trot says in anger as he kills a vulture.

"It wasn't your fault, Kilo clearly wanted to be alone when he died." Huata tried to reason.

Dasker orders Hinto to follow him, and everyone knows where he is going; he's going to kill the one that murdered his brother. Ash tries to reason with him that leaving the territory is the best they can do but Dasker doesn't listen.

Anemy wants to fight as well but Dasker isn't listening and snarls at her, which quickly shuts her up before he takes off; closely followed by Hinto who looked back for a second before sprinting after Dasker.

Huata and I sneak off to warn Sespria about the attack, even though I was skeptical of warning the enemy, I still followed to warn Sespria. As we're talking to Sespria, her pride leader strides over and starts pulling and pushing Huata while Sespria growls at him to let her go.

The lion threatens Huata, saying he can use her to get all the information he wants from her. After a bit of toying around he releases Huata, and goes back to his normal business. Huata explains our plan on how to keep her pride safe, and then sends her off to distract our pack mates while we try to reason with their Alpha.

Huata sends Sespria to distract our pack mates, but as she soon realizes they're too much for her, she heads back to her pride.I hide in a Bush, looking around to see Anemy hiding in the bushes, and to be honest I'm slightly glad she's here; you can never have enough fighters at least Anemy is a good fighter I hope.

If she isn't then she better not get chosen as the female Alpha, heck I might even accept if she's the only other option.
