Alexander breaks the silence with a needlessly aggressive tone. "Knock knock."
He can sense a certain someone being around….
"Your son." Alexander answered tensely. "A fact you seem to have forgotten."
Ironic, coming from him.
Fine. He will indulge this.
"Who is there?"
As always, his father takes his measure. The act could have been one of affection, or concern, but both men understood the true meaning that underlined it. The way those hands weighed on his shoulders... kept him in place... it was a reminder of where he stood.
Did him wrong. Hurt his feelings. His words reflected on himself.
How many times had his father pointed out that he was heartless. How could a man without a heart possibly feel? Surely he only knew cold emptiness, like the metal in his chest.
And yet Alexander felt like a chastised boy with pain in his chest.
"So you haven't disowned me." he dryly remarked, unable to muster up more emotion than that. His anger had already been sharpened to a weapon that cut him down.
A sly smile plays around his lips at Alexander's pitiful attempt at a joke. Bahamut steps up to the other man, straightening the collar on Alexander's jacket, as if that concerned him. Hands remained resting atop the broad shoulders he had inherited from him.
"Ah. You do me so wrong. Why are you out to try and hurt my feelings, hm? It speaks more of yourself, than it says about me, really..."
