Chan's life was determined before he had a chance to consider it. His family wasn't well-off. They struggled from early on to get food on their plates. He knew from when he was a child that he had to support his siblings because his parents refused to do so.

So that’s exactly what he did. He got into SNU with a full scholarship, secured a good job, and built a stable life with six figures coming in annually to his bank account, providing enough money to support his siblings’ dreams.

But what did it all get him?

Nothing!

He sacrificed his teens and his twenties because his father felt the need to be a raging alcoholic, and now he stands in the middle of Gangnam in his beautiful flat with its polished floors. But he lacks the most important thing in life: happiness.

To be truthful, he lacks a lot of things, but happiness takes the cake. If someone asks him, he lacks friends too. But our dearest Boo Seungkwan would like to disagree about that. In Chan’s defense, friends are absolutely not equal to friend (just a difference of ‘s’, as our dear ‘Kwanie’ said. Plus, his multiple personalities make up for the said lack of ’s’, which further raises the question as to why the man does not go for a checkup, as it seems he has self-diagnosed DID. We shall never know).

Chan is happy about his brothers doing what they like, though. It’s not that hard to not be happy when he literally raised them. Sacrifices need to be made, he has realized; some just make more than others, and there is nothing one can do about that. He accepts that he is indeed grateful for the friend he has made, the one who has stayed with him and accepted him as he is.

Now, it may sound sappy, and Chan swears he will never tell this to Seungkwan, but he has indeed helped him through the thick and thin of life. All those late-night drinking sessions and ugly crying have brought him to this stage in life where he thinks of the boy as more of a family than anyone else. He helped him when Chan’s life was falling apart, and he also was there to scold him back to the right track when no one believed in him, not even himself.

Although he lacks happiness, he is fine with that (he at least has Boo Seungkwan). He can live with being sad; he already has!

This is where you came in, the reason for Chan’s genuine smiles, from back in college to five years ago. It was a pretty serious relationship that you both had. Chan loved you. He had plans of making you his wife. For God’s sake, he was in a relationship with you for almost ten years! But somewhere along the way, he messed up. He became the exact thing he had hated all his life.

He became a person like his father.

You, being the nice kind, tried your best to stop him from spiraling down the rabbit hole of bad habits. But alas, it takes two to tango, and if he didn’t want to be better, no one, not even God himself, could do it for him.

It took losing you to realize how messed up his life had become.

--

“Chan, I’m heading out. Dinner’s in the fridge—please actually eat it this time. We don’t need two meal skippers in this household,” you quipped, watching as Chan chuckled and gave you a quick giggle inducing peck before returned his attention to the document he’d been typing for the past hour.

“Sure thing, Your Majesty. Your command shall be dutifully followed!” he exclaimed with a mock salute, drawing out another laugh from you. With a playful ruffle of his hair and another peck on his cheek, you left the apartment to begin your night shift at the hospital.

Chan, unlike you, has just started his new job after completing his MBA. It’s been tough, but he’s persevered, and soon enough, you both will be able to enjoy the luxuries he could only dream of growing up.

Your fifth anniversary is approaching faster than ever, and now Chan finally has the means to fulfill your dream of a trip to Europe. The pressure of this new job is more than the last one, but getting those tickets would be a walk in the park now.

Quickly finishing his document and mailing it to the head of the department, he immediately goes to check those flight ticket prices and hotel prices. He releases a happy sigh the minute he realizes that it’s exactly what he had expected the prices to be. So, without wasting a single moment, he buys those tickets. He knew this gift would make you happier than ever.

The next month, you had been notified about the expensive purchase only because you had to get a leave from your job, and you obviously can’t disappear for two weeks unannounced. He, in reality, had no plans to inform you about anything, but he couldn’t interfere with your job either.

But at the end it was worth it, the look on your face the minute you were informed about the trip. Oh, if only Chan could frame it and keep it away from the world, only if he could keep you near him and never let you go. But he didn’t think of that then. No, he was happy he had told you earlier.

The happiness radiating off you as you kept going on and on about the clothes you needed to buy, all the foods you were going to try once there. It was what helped him keep going throughout the day, even though the work became tiring with every passing minute.

If only he could have stopped time and lived in that moment forever.

—

One thing he never realized is how demanding his job would be once he got into a higher position. The calls kept him up at night; they came at the most ungodly of times, and Chan was expected to pick them up, because he always did.

You never complained; it was fine by you. If anyone understood him, it was you. Both of you had highly demanding jobs, and nothing could beat the expectations your colleagues had on you both.

But what he had not counted on was those calls interrupting your trip. During the entirety of your anniversary, he was glued to that phone of his, never once able to leave it. It was one problem at the office or the other.

Again, you kept your mouth shut, enjoying your own company as your boyfriend busied himself with work in the hotel room.

That was the last trip you both had gone on. You figured that it was too much to ask from someone who had so much work to do. But still, you understood his hunger to do better in life. You understood that someone had to compromise in the relationship and wholeheartedly accepted that it had to be you.

Coming to think of it, it was not supposed to be like this. Never! Both of you were supposed to communicate and figure out what your relationship was supposed to mean. But somewhere along the line, it just became regular sex and nothing else. When you talked about this with your friends, all of them had the same reaction.

‘Leave him!’ they had told you, ‘he wouldn’t change, he prefers his job more than you.’

It was a regular thing now. But you were scared. All the years you had invested in the relationship, you never wanted it to become what it had. You had held out hope that one day Chan would notice you. He would realize he had a girlfriend who also needs his attention as much as his job.

It didn’t take too long for those dreams to come true, though.

—

One night, you sat down with the man, asking him about the changes in his life. You begged him to look your way beyond the times he made love to you. It was an intense conversation, filled with words that neither of you actually meant, but hurt you both equally.

That night brought you both another few years, or that’s what you think. It became better, both your lives and the relationship. You both would talk more, spend time with each other, laugh with each other, and go about your days with lovesick smiles on your faces. Although none of your jobs became less hectic, it still was as painstaking as ever, but the scenery in your shared home was peaceful. It was both of your comfort zones.

What neither of you realized, this peace that you both had brought back into your lives, was fickle. In order to keep it like that, both of you had to put in some effort.

—

It slowly became visible to both of you how much more effort this relation of yours needed. Both of you saw the way your paradise was crumbling down bit by bit. Nights became lonely for you. Chan, being the perfectionist he is, would be stuck up in his office until the rays of sun hit the glass windows, reminding him of the fact that he indeed had stayed the night in his office. The hectic job took everything away from him. It stripped him of his identity, and slowly it was also stripping his happiness and sanity away. It was like the darker times had hit both of you again.

It was then that he suddenly passed out on the streets due to extreme fatigue and was brought immediately into the nearest hospital, which was the one you worked at. Lo and behold, you were the nurse on emergency room duty that day. This was the first time you saw the love of your life in that state; you saw what this new job had done to him. How it had taken this happy and healthy person you knew and turned him into this sick, unhappy, and overworked person. Your helplessness mocked you in your face. At night, you stayed by his side after the doctors had given their verdict about him being too overworked. You took care of him like never before, making sure to make him take an ample amount of rest.

Sadly, the industry is ruthless. As soon as the employers became aware that their once highly valuable employee’s usefulness had diminished, they ultimately opted to terminate him. Although Chan claims there were some more internal politics involved in this sacking, there was no way he could have evaded it.

Both of you soon realized it was the best thing that could have happened to him. While being the worst experience he could ever go through in his corporate career.

You stayed by his side through every hurdle though. You never once let him feel the need to be more than what he already was. But life was giving both of you a hard time.

It took Chan another month to get a new job. But only this time, it was a better, more important position in a better company. This is when life took off for both of you again. With Chan back on track, equipped with the newfound knowledge of not working more than necessary, he was on a roll. Almost unstoppable.

This change also affected your relationship, but positively this time. Chan and you would go on constant dates and enjoy each other’s company way more than ever.

—

It was nearing your seventh anniversary. Both of you had talked about getting married and starting a family enough times for him to know this was the perfect time for him to propose.

So, on the day of your seventh anniversary, he had planned to take you to this fancy Italian place. He claimed that you deserved only the best. No one could ever argue with him about that. You, along with Seungkwan, had been by his side for so long that he had forgotten the time when he didn’t have you both. Nothing, absolutely nothing, would change that fact. With that it brought him to the most important question of that year.

“But what ring do I buy her?” the stressed boy asked his best friend.

“Wow, I wasn’t informed about the fact that y/n suddenly had become my girlfriend!” Seungkwan exclaimed sassily.

“Dude, you can calm down. She is still my girl, ain’t no way you are getting her. Find a girl of your own,” the shorter boy retorted back.

Why am I being asked about her preference for a ring then, huh?”

“Because she said, and I quote, ‘if you buy me an expensive engagement ring that I can’t even wear out because it looks too expensive, I will castrate you’,” Chan said seriously, bringing out a seal-like laugh from the back of Seungkwan’s throat.

“Do something meaningful for her then, you dumb fuck,” making Chan almost cringe at the scolding. Without letting the boy talk, his best friend continued, “Put in some effort and do something that shows you care, without having to spend a copious amount of money. I have no idea what you should do, but bro, if it were up to me, a girl would for sure get a ring no matter what!”

Now, this made him think. It made him think hard. But even after all that thinking, he couldn’t come up with a good idea for an alternative for an engagement ring.

It was not until the next Saturday when he was sitting on the couch waiting for you to choose a movie for the weekly movie night, did he stumble upon the perfect idea for a ring? Like any usual person, the man was scrolling through TikTok when he found out that one could make rings out of clay.

Perfect!

If you didn’t want a diamond ring, you shall get a clay ring. For you might catch the sun lacking one day, but not Chan, never Chan!

—

This kick-started the learner phase of Chan’s life once again. He would visit the pottery classes every week because he needed to excel at the art to mold the perfect ring. One suitable for daily wear and also because this hobby brought him more peace than ever.

He made some friends here; they were fun to hang out with. You had met all these new people flooding into his life. He would parade about the with his hand on you showing you off proudly.

“Who wouldn’t?” he would ask whenever someone pointed it out. This question had the power to make him start ranting about you at any given point. So much so that after a point, people stopped asking him about you, no matter the context.

Because, oh boy, was he in love.

--

It took him one year and some friendships to finally complete learning everything there was to learn about pottery. In the course of that time, he had littered your shared house with his creations.

Oh, you wanted to buy a new bowl because you saw it on Instagram? No fear, Chan shall make it this instant. Oops, your favorite coffee mug broke? Chan has come to your rescue with a better, scientifically cute, usable, and overall better mug for you.

The creative spark of the boy never dimmed down, nor did his extroverted nature. Every other day, he would be out with his new friends, so much so that even Boo Seungkwan noticed. You both had chats with each other about the changes in Chan’s life over a cup of tea whenever Seungkwan would come over.

To say that you both were happy about him enjoying life would be an understatement. You had seen the pain the man had gone through in his life. It only made sense for him to have the best of the best experiences when he had the opportunities.

But again, as people say, one should do everything in moderation. It seems that Chan could do nothing in moderation. He would work himself half to death. In this case too, he started drinking and partying himself half to death. The outings that were done to unwind after a long hard day became parties that were making the day even longer.

The friends that helped him overcome the pressuring environment of his office became the ones who would pressure him to go way out of his comfort zone, all for the wrong reasons. People say twenties are times when people experiment with their life and gain new experiences.

The same was applicable for Chan too, the only difference being he was learning different ways of spiraling down holes that are hard to climb up from. The hilarious part being, these were the holes that he had carefully dug out himself.

It’s not like you never stopped him, because you did. The minute you realized these new friends were pushing Chan’s limits in the wrong way, you didn’t waste a second to tell him.

“I think you should calm down with this partying and stuff. It’s unbelievably bad for your health,” you had told him one night when he had come home drunk out of his wits.

“I know how to have fun, not my fault you don’t!”

The boy had shouted at you before collapsing on the couch. Realizing it was a waste of time to even try and talk to him in this state, you tried again the next day when he was far more sober.

“Do you remember what happened yesterday?” you ask Chan, to which he shakes his still-hungover head and winces. Sighing, you continue, “Chan, you can’t let them get to you like this. Moderation is the key here. Please don’t overdo anything, I beg you!” You hugged him, trying to coax him to understand where you were coming from. He obviously hugged you back and promised you to keep your advice in mind the next time they asked him out.

He didn’t. He swears he tried to. But the peer pressure got to him. Before he could even back off, they had already hauled his ass to the bar. He never wanted to disappoint you. So he chose to accept the most coherent plan his drunk mind could formulate: the plan to lie to you.

—

Your seventh anniversary had come and gone a year ago. The only gifts he could provide you that day were a fancy dinner and a solid promise that he would indeed get you the greatest ring you will have ever seen in your whole life. Now the time had come. The time to prove his skills. Those skills he spent an entire year honing.

During this cute date at home, he produced a small wooden box from his pocket. After you had enjoyed the homemade meal he had whipped up for you and you both were cuddling on the balcony, he proposed to you with stars in his eyes and hope in his heart.

He shocked you with the ring. Like your relationship, it was delicate, yet made with lots of love and care. You obviously said yes without hesitation. After all, you loved this man, and he loved you too. Nothing, absolutely nothing, could ever go wrong if he was with you.

--

It seems that no matter how hard you try, life always seems to have other plans for you.

The month right after you accepted his proposal, you received an invitation for a two-year-long workshop in Germany. Such opportunities don’t come every day, so you were elated.

Without wasting any time, you called Chan, informing him about the opportunity you had received. But like every coin, this great opportunity had its drawbacks too.

With the prospect of studying and learning under some of the greatest doctors and nurses came the hardship of leaving your fiancĂ© behind. Chan didn’t like this one bit. He could barely stand to be away from you for a second, let alone two years.

But seeing the excitement on your face and hearing the joy in your voice, he couldn’t bring himself to ask you to stay back. He knew you had sacrificed a lot for him, compromised at times when you could have been happy if he hadn’t made decisions that ruined his life.

--

So he put on a happy smile and told you that if you didn’t take this opportunity, he would pack your bags himself and kick you out of the house. This assurance gave you the confidence you needed. Without wasting any time, you sent an email accepting the proposition to join the workshop.

The next five months passed in a whim. During this time, he had asked you to marry him before you went away, but with a peaceful and determined smile, you had told him, “I will marry you once I come back, like that, we won’t have to spend too much time as newlyweds. Plus, I will be smarter than you too.”

“You are always smarter than me. I can never surpass you,” was the answer you had received, along with a sweet kiss, making your heart swell like a balloon.

Life was starting to feel better again.

Chan had finally made his boundaries very clear. The boy felt extremely guilty for lying to you, though he never confessed to you about doing so. He made sure his actions proved his redemption. He ensured to let these new friends of his know that going out too much with them was affecting him in ways that he didn’t appreciate. Although they did sometimes win against him and force him to go out, it was not as bad as it was before.

—

Soon the day came when you had to fly away to Germany. To say that Chan was sad would be an understatement. He was devastated when he saw you off at the airport with Seungkwan. He had cried the whole way home, making Seungkwan scold him as if he were a baby.

“Now if you keep behaving like this, do you think she would be happy?” the older boy questioned him.

“No, but I miss her already,” Chan replied in a whisper while wiping his tears harshly.

“Be nice, be happy for her. You can talk to her all the time. It’s not the Stone Age,” Seungkwan said with an exasperated sigh, making the younger one stop his sad boy antics at once.

But it was not like Chan was okay. He started working overtime at the office, desperately waiting for you to call him when you got free. And call you did, religiously at six o’clock in the evening.

You both made the decision to talk at that time, regardless of any circumstances. This went on for six months. He tried his best to follow the routine of overworking himself before you would call and save him from killing himself with work.

But with all these works, his willpower also started to crumble down. The old ways came back to him. Before he realized it, he became a party animal. He made new friends at these clubs and bars he started frequenting. He thought you wouldn’t pick up. But you did. You saw how your boyfriend was slowly changing. It was not that obvious at first, but slowly you realized he was getting drowned with work.

Being the lovely girlfriend you were, you asked Seungkwan to take care of him. The boy tried his best to do so. But alas, he was not that successful.

It seemed to both of you that Chan had spiraled back into his overworking session. What you both were unaware of was that it was more than that.

Chan was not just overworking; he was over-drinking and over partying too.

—

One faithful night; he met Eva, his pottery class instructor. She was pretty. They talked the whole night, catching up like old buddies and having fun.

She brought a change to his life again. She started being there for him during times when he would lose himself. She was a great friend, so great that in no time you had the chance to meet her.

You had come back for a week’s vacation. Seungkwan thought it was important for all the friends to meet up because it had been a long time since he had seen you. This meeting was supposed to consist of only you, Chan, and Seungkwan. But Chan asked to bring in another friend he would like you to meet. It was Eva.

You liked her; she was nice. You wanted to be friends with her. Her sweet personality was something no one could resist, a great example of a sweetheart through and through.

For once, you were actually proud of your boyfriend’s choices in life. Your visit was over even before it had started. Suddenly, the week was over, and you were packing your bags to return to Germany.

This time, Chan was not as scared of things going downhill anymore. He knew that within a few more months, you would come back, and he could happily start the wedding preparations. He also knew he had a solid group of friends to have his back. Most importantly, he had learned the art of living without you. Not that it was happy, but now he could enjoy spending time by himself.

—

Time flew faster than ever. In no time, it was Chan’s birthday. Your program would finish that same month, so sadly you couldn’t visit him. All you could do was video call him that morning and congratulate him for hitting thirty before you, to which he grumpily replied, “Your birthday is in six months; I’m gonna make it hell for you.”

“Whatever, old man, get dressed. Don’t you have a job to go to?” You laughed at his grumpy face while teasing him even more.

“I miss you,” Chan suddenly called out, pouting.

“You will meet me next month, Channie. Don’t be this sad now.” Although that did make him happy, the thought of spending yet another birthday without you was saddening. But it’s not like it was going to last. You would be back in no time.

That thought put a smile on his face. Soon enough, he was skipping around the house cooking breakfast and answering numerous calls from his friends and family for being a thirty-year-old now.

Seungkwan and Eva had also planned a not-so-surprise party for him. It consisted of meeting in front of his office and dragging his ass to the bar to drink and have fun. Although the day was spent slaving away in front of the computer, that night he had a lot of fun. He talked to Seungkwan and Eva for hours, and the three of them were pretty intoxicated when they left.

The only thing he remembered from that night was the fact that Eva, being the one out of the three with the most alcohol tolerance, was the one who had made sure that all of them returned home safely.

There was just one slight problem. Eva started to avoid him. Now, in any other situation, he would not have noticed it, but the text the next morning asking him if he remembered anything from the night before had him confused. When he asked her what it was all about, she refused to answer him, opting to ignore him instead.

He had no recollection of the night before, and Seungkwan didn’t either, so it was a mystery to both of them. But then again, his gut told him the problem was bigger than what he thought it was and might come to haunt him if not solved now.

So he did the most sane thing he could think of: He asked her to talk to him about it. He knew the wedding preparations would start the minute you came back, so he wanted to make sure to fix any problem that might affect you both before it blasted out of proportion.

—

“You kissed me,” was the first thing Eva told him after sitting down, making Chan’s heart drop to his stomach.

“Huh, but I don’t remember anything,” Chan retorted.

“It’s not about you remembering or not, it really happened, Chan, and I hate it,” she said, her voice almost breaking.

“Hey, calm down. We were both intoxicated, and we didn’t do it on purpose. Any other time and we wouldn’t have done it,” this seemed to have little to no effect on improving the girl’s mood.

On the other hand, Chan’s blood pressure was rising. The last thing he needed was a big mistake from which he could never turn back. With you coming back from Germany in less than a week, he needed everything in his life to be sorted out, especially something that could jeopardize a relationship with so much love in it.

“Chan, I think I like you. I’m not sure when it happened, or how it did. But I like you. So please don’t tell me I wouldn’t have done it if we weren’t intoxicated.”

The impact of this statement was so immense that it completely shattered his world, leaving him in disarray. It was true that he liked Eva. What kind of feelings he actually held for her was a mystery to him.

So, in the spur of the moment, he kissed her.

Just a few minutes ago, it was bothering him, but once he took the step, he didn’t feel what he was supposed to. He didn’t feel the disgust and hatred towards himself he should have. It felt like sneaking out of his house when he was not supposed to. It made a rush of excitement run through his body. He could feel the adrenaline rush through him.

He felt alive. maybe it was the feeling of doing something forbidden or it was something else, he didn’t know.

But, that night, they did more than kissing.

—

Once you were back, it was all sunshine and rainbows in the first few weeks. You both were happy, spending all your time together and having fun relishing in each other’s presence.

But it didn’t take you long to notice the changes. He would be stuck late at the office but come back home surprisingly lively, or those random texts from his brother late at night asking him to come over, or even the most obvious of them all, the vibrant smell of floral perfume that you never wear.

But you held out. You had promised to give him a chance to explain himself if he came clean to you. But that day never came. You asked him about these odd behaviors, but somehow he would always evade the topic altogether.

All those questions of ‘where were you last night’, ‘when will you come home’, or ‘shall we go on a date sometime soon’, all went unanswered.

He outright ignored your presence at home. But this didn’t stop the wedding preparations. Because his siblings and your parents alike loved him, they had taken the responsibility to take care of the wedding plans.

Before he could continue with his little escapades, Seungkwan caught and confronted him. Not by you but by Seungkwan. The older boy’s disappointment was beyond words. He screamed at him for an hour straight and then he had sat Chan down and calmly said,

“Either you tell her or I will.”

“But I can’t; she will leave me if I ever tell her.”

“Then she will be right in doing so.”

“Chan, I love you to death, but either you stop this and tell your girlfriend the whole truth, or I will take matters into my own hands. She has put up with enough of your shit. Don’t hurt her more,” he had said.

“Give me some time; I will do it as soon as possible,” the younger one had strained out, fisting his hair.

“She better know about it all before the wedding,” Seungkwan had warned him before seeing himself out.

—

Chan had cut off Eva after that. He tried to change everything before actually marrying you. Then, being the kind person you are, you tried to understand your boyfriend. You really did. But this was the first time in ten years you considered leaving him.

This relationship didn’t make you happy anymore. But you had gone through so many troubles together. The effort to hold each other upright was taking a toll on you.

But you were a fighter. You had fought many battles with him by your side. You couldn’t give up on those years either. Your internal dilemma was killing you. But all of this came to a halt one day when you had come back from your night shift, only to find your boyfriend and the girl he oh so diligently claimed to be his good friend, talking in the living room.

It was not like they were trying to be quiet because you could hear every single word spoken by them.

“Chan, it’s yours.”

“Eva, I have a fiancĂ©. I will never leave her. I already told you, I love her.”

“Oh, so you didn’t think about that before fucking me”

“It was a mistake”, Chan shouted.

“No, it wasn’t, we both were very sober”, came another shout

The conversation hit you like a truck, and with each sentence, you felt your heart shattering. The decision suddenly seemed a bit too easy to make.

You walked out of the chaos, leaving the ring behind on the shoe rack. That night, you stayed at your friend’s place.

Following that event, you called Seungkwan, informing him that you won’t talk to Chan anymore. He simply asked if you wanted any help moving out, to which you answered with a simple no.

That was the end of the relationship for you. You refused to talk or see Chan ever again.

—

Now, five years later, Chan is to be married again. Not with you; no, he missed his chance. It's with Eva. They figured the best way to raise Minhan was to be together. In a county like theirs, it wasn’t the best idea to raise a kid with two unmarried parents.

Chan loved Minhan to death. But he could never show the same love for Eva. Looking at her reminded him of the mistakes he made in life. It reminded him of the happiness he could have attained, but he lost due to his own faults.

He is happy Seungkwan is still beside him. He knows he doesn’t deserve a friend like him, so the fact that Seungkwan stayed beside him makes him feel grateful.

He knew that his wife and child would move in with him soon, but he didn’t have the courage to let them into the house yet. The house that held both your memories was a bit too precious to let go of so easily.

The next day came faster than he anticipated. As Chan stood there waiting for his bride, he saw a face that he had been longing to see for the last five years.

He saw your face, sitting there on the benches, a sad smile adorning your face. Your eyes filled with emotions and stories of the years you had spent together.

Oh, how badly Chan wanted to abandon everything and run to you. Apologize a hundred times and ask you to take him back. But he couldn’t; he had children to take care of and shoes to fill.

As he stood there saying his vows, hoping it’s you he saw walking down the aisle and it’s you he kissed, but they are called dreams for a reason. And not all dreams come true.

As he kissed his bride, he saw a glimpse of your teary eyes amongst the crowd, and a tear of his own fell. Wishing for a future he was never destined to have.

"Shit, shit, shit...", he muttered as he ran down the stairs of the apartment complex.

The rain was pouring outside, by now you had probably caught a cold, and he wasn't there to pick you up in time. This is his fault, and only thinking about your lonely figure on the side of the street makes him want to cry. You had asked him this morning, in the middle of his dazed mood, if he could pick you up after a job interview. Of course, Chan had agreed and said that it would be no problem. By the end of his day, which wasn't busier than any other day, he had forgotten about you and gone home. Your text reading "where are you?" had gotten him out of his seat on the couch and sprinting down the stairs. Guilt spread through his entire body and leaked into his bones as he got into his car. He could not believe himself.

When he saw you standing alone in the downpour his heart broke even further. There was a sad and disappointed look on your face that Chan was sure he would never be able to erase from his mind. You open the car door and he immediately pulled off his jacket to give it to you. With trembling hands, you take his jacket and put it over your chest.

"I'm so sorry, baby... I didn't mean to, I just-"

"Can you just drive?", you sniffled and turned away from him.

Chan and his friends had joked about how if their partner ever turned their legs toward the door instead of them it meant trouble. But now, when it was real, the action was much more hurtful than he could expect. Your entire body was turned toward the window instead of him, and he felt even lonelier than when he was the only one in the car. But he still couldn't find it in him to feel bad for himself. He had fucked up, and he wasn't about to deny that.

As soon as he had parked in your apartment complex's parking lot, you opened up the door and briskly walked inside. You didn't wait for him inside either, instead letting the elevator doors close right in front of his eyes. Chan pressed the button before it could start moving, and the doors opened again. When he got inside, you didn't look at him. In the mirror, he could see your puffy red eyes. You had been crying. Chan was ready to fall to his knees and beg for forgiveness for making you cry, but the elevator doors opened and you stepped outside.

"I'm going to take a shower.", you muttered as you kicked off your shoes and made your way to the bathroom.

Chan carefully put his and your shoes away in the right place before walking over to the bedroom. He pulled out the clothes you usually always stole from him from his closet. It was his comfiest hoody and an old pair of sweatpants. Most of the time he would jokingly complain whenever you stole them, so giving them to you willingly felt strange. You had left the door to the bathroom unlocked. A part of him hoped it wasn't just because you had forgotten, and that you actually wanted him to walk in and pamper you.

"I have some clothes for you, sweetheart.", he said to the closed shower curtain.

You hummed over the sound of the water hitting the floor. Chan put the clothes on a small stool next to the sink and stepped out again, giving you your space. He wracked his brain for something else to do to make up for his behavior. So, he started making you tea and preparing a few blankets for you on the couch. And despite hating the film himself, he put on your favorite movie - ready for the two of you to watch when you got out of your shower.

The door to the bathroom opened and you stepped out in your towel with his clothes in your arms. Chan's eyebrows furrowed in confusion, but you looked over at him with a small smile.

"You forgot to get me underwear.", you whispered out with the hint of a giggle.

"Oh... well, I made you tea... and I was thinking we could watch your favorite movie.", he said shyly, "Only if you want to, of course."

"It sounds nice.", you nodded.

When you got back from the bedroom, now dressed in his clothes, you immediately went to the couch and grabbed the fluffiest blanket to wrap around you. Chan sat on the opposite end of the couch, watching you carefully as you sipped your tea.

"This won't change the fact that you forgot, you know.", you put down your teacup.

"I know...", he nodded, "And I really am sorry. I completely forgot, like an idiot- and it's not because I would ever forget you, I just... I don't have an excuse. I don't know what happened, really."

A silence fell over the two of you. Neither of you looked away from the other. You didn't want to be mad at him, it didn't feel right, but you still felt hurt.

"Can you promise me to not do it again?", you asked.

"I promise.", he held out his pinky finger.

Giggling, you leaned over and connected your pinky finger with his. Chan put his other hand on your wrist and pulled you toward him, laying you on his chest.

"Did the interview at least go well?", he asked.

"I don't think so...", you sighed and shuffled around to get under his blanket so that you could be closer to him, "It was super awkward... I felt too embarrassed to go inside to wait for you."

"You'll do better next time, baby.", he soothed, "And I won't forget you next time either."

"You better not.", you leaned your hands on his chest to get a better look at his face, "Or I'll get really mad."

"If I ever forget you again, you should just break up with me.", he said, completely serious, "You deserve better than that."

"No, I don't want to do that.", you frowned but then jokingly added, "Who's clothes would I steal then?"

Chan broke out into a big grin and put his arms around you. You pressed a quick kiss on his lips before putting your head on his chest. His hand went to the back of your head after turning on the movie with the remote laying beside him. For you, he'd watch any horrible film thousand times over. However, when you eventually fell asleep halfway through the movie, he turned it off to let you keep resting. Without waking you, he tucked you in a bit better and got comfy - he would lay there for as long as you needed him to.

When you finally woke up, Chan had also fallen asleep. His head had lulled to the side and his mouth was slightly open. He looked so peaceful... so of course, you had to get payback.

"Chan wake up!", you exclaimed and shook his body awake.

Laughter filled the air as Chan startled awake and let out a yelp. He glared at you with tired eyes and tried to go back to sleep, but you started patting his cheeks with your hands - repeating "wake up" with each delicate slap. Eventually, Chan grabbed both your wrists and held them away from his face.

"Stop it...", he groaned, "I was having such a nice dream."

"It's payback.", you said.

"That's fair...", he sighed and opened his eyes, "Did you sleep okay? What time is it?"

Chan started rubbing his face to wake up. It reminded you of when an otter washes their face, and you made sure to remember it to bring it up at a later date.

"It's pretty late.", you hummed and looked at your phone, "Nine PM."

"Do you want to order some food?", he asked, "You can choose whatever you want."

"Yeah?", you grinned

"Whatever you want, sweetheart.", he reassured you and closed his eyes again.

"Thank you.", you pressed another kiss on his lips and started getting up from the couch.

"No, no, no... you don't have to leave.", he whined and clasped your hand before you could go, "You can order right here."

He kept pulling on your hand, making you lay back down on top of him. You chuckled as he let out a content sigh. The two of you stayed there as you placed an order, right until the order came to the door. Chan urged you to stay as he went to get it, and you couldn't argue with that.

The rain kept pouring for the rest of the night, but neither of you cared anymore. While eating, you watched the rest of the movie together and stayed on the couch until it was time to go to bed. Everything was back to normal, and you felt lucky to have a boyfriend who always knew the right words to say and the right things to do to make you feel better.

this has made me realise that I might have a soft spot for chan

heads up! food.

"do you want to see how much they love me?" you can hear chan before you see him, vernon and seungkwan next to him. he steps ahead of them so that he can approach you first, glancing down at the little meal in front of you. he sits down across from you, calling your name in a cute voice. "can i have a dumpling?"

you don't even hesitate. not when his friends are right there, and you know you'll get a laugh from vernon (if not both). "nope."

chan gawks at you, genuine disappointment in his eyes as his friends cackle. everyone knows that you don't share food unless you truly like someone. your boyfriend is one of those people who gets to take whatever he wants when he asks... except for this time.

vernon sits down on your other side, still grinning: he knows you. you saw the opportunity and you took it, which is probably your right as chan's partner to tease him the same way all his friends do. "hey," he looks at you. "can i have a dumpling?"

you're already pushing the tray over for him to take one. "of course, pookie."

chan's already sputtering in shock, watching as vernon takes a dumpling from your lunch. "pookie?!"

"our boo, do you want one, too?" you slide to toward seungkwan, who gladly accepts one and thanks you for it. you pull the tray back to yourself, picking up the last dumpling with your chopsticks.

chan's just staring you down like a kicked puppy. "honey..." he pouts. "my love...?"

you think you break a little too easily when it comes to chan. you extend your chopsticks to him instead. "fine, my dumpling," you roll your eyes playfully. "if you insist." yet the moment he sinks his teeth into it, you speak up again. "but you have to buy me more, then."

chan's smile falls slightly, but he's already getting up again to make a beeline toward the stall. he hears the way you laugh, so content with getting to mess with him just a little, but he doesn't mind it. not when it's you.

I love chan and I love thisđŸ˜–đŸ©·

Remembering all your boyfriend's drunk habits? That's the easy part. But taking care of him? Well, he makes that part easy too.

content: fluff, established relationship, drunk!(and then hungover!)chan, mentions of food, so much domesticity, they're literally so in love with each other it's disgusting

wc: 1.2k

note: still trying to figure out my writing style and doing some experimenting with povs and such 😭 this one was a horribly self indulgent one tho...food is my love language and when it was revealed that dino only eats ramen when hes hungover i couldnt help myself lol. i really just take any tidbit of info these men divulge and run with it into delululand huh. anyways please enjoy and as always comments and feedback are appreciated đŸ„ș

You knew Chan liked to drink. It wasn't an actual problem, but it happened often enough that you had come to expect him to come back to your shared apartment after a night out stumbling and slurring his words.

Not that your boyfriend was the dark brooding serious type, but you find the change from his usually composed and witty self to someone who could erupt into a mess of giggles and burst into song and obnoxious yelling at any moment quite jarring. But you couldn't say you hated it either.

No, drunk Chan was different. Drunk Chan was straightforward, every single emotion flashing onto his face like a billboard. The Chan that normally would throw a quip back when teased would suddenly turn into a whiny child with a yapping problem.

Your sober Chan was careful, he was always fearful of letting you know if there was anything bothering him (much to your dismay). Even when he hits a breaking point, you would never catch it on his mannerisms. Instead he opted to deal with his emotions himself, or occasionally in the form of a passive aggressive text laced with smiley faces to whoever scorned him.

Where sober Chan could be quite shy with his affections toward you in public, drunk Chan would cling to your body like a koala to a tree, protesting anytime you wanted to brush him off for some air.

But you loved him, drunk or sober. You loved that he could let loose sometimes and truly let his inner self be free, knowing that he was in good company and that he would be accepted no matter what, inside and out. And you took it upon yourself to take care of him in all his states.

And that's how you ended up at 1am with a grown man leaning on your shoulder as you help him take his shoes off in the doorway of his own damn apartment.

"Buuuut baaabe...!" He whined into your ear as he manages to fling off the remaining shoe from his foot. "I wanna eat chicken nuggiessss."

Your smile spread uncontrollably across your face and you maneuver around him to take off his jacket next. "I would make you chicken nuggies, but it's 1am and you hate eating late at night."

There's silence for a moment as your intoxicated boyfriend seems to ponder your words. You take advantage of his stillness to slip the jacket off his sleeves and guide him to the bedroom.

You gently shush him with your finger, "If I'm always right, then you'll listen to me when I tell you to go get washed up right, big guy?" You take the opportunity to give him a small peck on his pouty lips as you throw a fresh pair of boxers onto his lap. He only smiles in response and begins his lazy waddle to the bathroom only to emerge minutes later, crawling into the sheets and enveloping your body with his own and knocking out.

"Oh no, you're right," he finally responds as he plops onto your bed, his lips pressed into a pout you can only describe as cute. "What would I do without you babe? You're always right, you know me better than I do sometimes and I really love that about you and ya'kno..."

-

To no one's surprise, you wake up before Chan. The intensity of the light that filters through your bedroom window tells you it's already quite late in the morning. But that's alright, you cleared your schedule for one thing and for one thing only.

You take a moment to soak in his soft features, bathing in the sunlight that leaks through the curtains. Everything from the curve of his eyelashes to his sharp jawline is perfect, just as the day you saw him. You don't get to see him like this often, as he's always been a busybody for as long as you knew him, but you think that this might be one of your favorite views in the world.

You scoot out of the bed as quietly as possible, trying not to disturb the soft rise and falls of your boyfriend's bare chest as he slumbers, but not before pressing a light kiss to his forehead. His nose scrunches up momentarily before settling again as you laugh, leaving for the kitchen satisfied that the love of your life was getting the rest he deserved. Your morning routine goes smoothly and soon enough you hear the sound of sheets shuffling, signaling the real start to your day.

You're by his side in a record amount of time, sitting on the edge of your shared bed while sliding a glass of water and a painkiller onto his nightstand. Amongst a tangle of sheets, your boyfriend lays still, eyes not quite open yet. "Good morning, handsome" you whisper softly, seeing how a smile immediately spreads across his face.

"My head is actually killing me. Sorry if I'm a zombie today, I just wanna eat some r-"

"Ramen?" you finish for him. There's nothing but love and adoration behind your eyes as you softly comb through his messy bedhead with your fingers. "I know baby, I already have some water boiling on the stove. Drink the water and take the painkillers, it'll be ready by the time you come out."

"God, have I told you I love you? Because I don't do it nearly enough." He groans out in his raspy morning voice. You just laugh and press a swift kiss to his forehead, doing good on your promise as you walk back out to the kitchen.

Before long, you hear the heavy footsteps of a sleepy man make its way into the room. They stop right as they approach you and you feel strong arms wrap around your waist as you add the finishing garnishes to the bowl of noodles you just made. "Smells so nice" Chan murmurs, face buried in the crook of your neck.

"What, me or the ramen?" you tease back, gently shaking him off of you as you place the bowl on the table. "Or... these?" You pull the handle of the air fryer sitting next to the stove to reveal several golden brown dinosaur shaped chicken nuggets.

The scene before you is as mundane as can be: a Saturday morning spent with your extremely hungover boyfriend barely awake in nothing but his boxers slurping instant noodles on the kitchen counter.

Chan's eyes light up. "Oh my god, you remembered?!" A toothy smile permanently stuck on his face as you plated the nuggets to join his bowl of ramen. "Of course, how could I forget my boyfriend whining for nuggieesssss last night?" He fakes an offended scoff but relents as he finally digs in.

But to you it's anything but mundane, cherishing these little moments that seem few and far between as both of your schedules get busier and busier.

It's not the first time you've heard him say this exact sentence, and it probably won't be the last. But one thing you knew for certain as you stare into the most loving eyes you've ever seen is that you were always the lucky one.

"How did I get this lucky to have you in my life?" he suddenly remarks in between mouthfuls.

“Bye Ms Kim! Bye, everyone! It was so nice to be with you all in Japan, until our next competition. You all did well” Chan bowed toward his teachers and fellow students as he left the bus, bag slung over his shoulder.

Once he was on the pavement, Chan sighed and hastily walked into his building, ready to pass out on his bed. He clicks the elevator button to the floor he lives on while fidgeting with the new keychain he had bought as a souvenir. The ride was taking longer than usual for some reason.

When the elevator dinged, indicating that he had arrived, Chan eagerly stepped out and headed for the door of his family’s apartment. Instead of him being able to open it easily with the password, the lock buzzes and the sound causes Chan to frown in confusion. Did his family decide to change the house code while he was away?

As Chan was about to try one more time, his brother had texted him about how they had gone to see family and forgot he would arrive that day, adding that wouldn’t be back until the next morning.

Seeing this, Chan runs a hand through his hair and huffs. He was so ready to get the rest he badly needed until an idea came to mind.

Chan turns towards the apartment next to his family’s and grins, you were probably home, right? A girl who was his age, living independently next to his family, probably wouldn’t have many places to be, so he tried the last bit of his luck.

You hear your doorbell ring and wonder who would be at your door late into the evening. As per your paranoid self, you bring a knife to the door, being a girl and living alone with her cat wasn’t exactly the ideal situation to be in, especially at this hour.

You hesitantly peek into your peephole and your jaw falls slack as you struggle to open the door. What the hell was Chan doing at your doorstep? You thought his family would be at home like usual, the Lee family never really went anywhere and would often invite you over so this came as a surprise.

“Chan? That’s new, what brings you here?” You squint at the boy and he chuckles awkwardly, a hand scratching his cheek.

He had his backpack still on his back and a small stroller next to him, he looked like he had just come back from the airport. ‘Oh, I forgot he flew to Japan last week for a dance competition,’ you thought to yourself.

“My family forgot about me arriving today and left to go see my relatives without me, so uh, I had no other option? Unless you’re uncomfortable with me staying for a night, I can just call up one of my friends to let me crash at theirs” Chan cringed at his own words.

Seungkwan lived an hour outside the main city and Vernon lived in a one-bedroom apartment that barely had anything but a bed and a place for his pet iguana. Mingyu was at his sister’s place, and Soonyoung had gone with his family, the house already cramped enough with two grown kids and their parents. He genuinely had no other option.

“What? No, it’s fine. I’ve known you and your family since the day I moved in, it’s the least I can do since you guys have been nice to me. Now come in,” You moved aside so Chan could shuffle in, and in his head, he made a mental note to thank you later when he wasn’t as tired from the jet lag.

You helped him move his things into the guest room before getting him settled. He looked exhausted, and as much as your crush on the boy had started to take in how adorable he was, you couldn’t afford to scare him off when he seemed like he had no other place to go.

“You can use the shower, I have extra products for guests in the second drawer so you’re free to use that as you like. I was making dinner so you’re also welcome to join me in case you haven’t eaten yet. Make yourself at home,” You offered Chan a shy smile and the boy felt his heart skip a beat. Have you always been that pretty?

Chan snapped himself out of his daze and nodded before smiling back at you. “Thanks, I seriously owe you a lot for letting me stay the night. I’m sorry for coming up on short notice,” he says bashfully. You were very kind and the fact that you even offered him dinner was crazy enough as it is.

“Hey, it’s no biggie. I don’t have guests over that often so it’s nice to have someone around now and then. Call this our first unofficial sleepover if you will,” You laugh and Chan can’t help but feel flustered around you. You were so calm despite everything, it was almost impressive to him.

You put your hands together and excuse yourself, making Chan stand up and smile at you once more before you leave the room.

“Towels are in that cabinet under the desk, I think you already have the password here since it’s just my cat’s name in lowercase letters,” Chan once again nods as he watches your figure disappear into the rest of the apartment.

The silence welcomes Chan as he turns to observe every inch of the room. It was very minimal with a simple white desk, a few pictures on display, and two candles off to the side. A white double-door closet stood at the opposite end of the bed, a plant in a gray pot right next to it.

A part of the wall had postcards from places he assumed you had gone to, as well as some awards from your school. It was nice how the room still had a few elements of you in it despite it being a guest room, he would’ve never known that you had topped your class or that you had been to France.

Grabbing a towel from the cabinet and some clothes from his bag, Chan then made his way over to your bathroom. As he was passing the kitchen, he saw your back and got a whiff of whatever you were making for dinner. It smelled like meat and ramyeon, something he had missed dearly during his entire trip to Japan.

Chan enters the bathroom quietly to avoid distracting you and looks at how organized everything is, noting that the room itself is also well-lit.

‘Maybe I should take a selfie in here later,’ he thought while checking himself in the mirror, only to grimace at his appearance shortly after. He looked beat despite the flight only being three hours.

You hear the shower turn on from the outside and continue to finish up plating the food, your cat rubbing herself against you as you bend down to pet her.

“It’s a bit weird, but you don’t mind having him around right?” Luna meows as if saying ‘Not at all’ and you chuckle.

“Well Luna, you already know how much I talk about him and it’s no surprise,” you tell your cat in a whisper. The shower halts and you bring the food to the coffee table in front of your TV, turning Netflix on while waiting for Chan.

“Oh, no way! Ramyeon and meat? You made this for me?” You hear Chan say dramatically as he clutches his chest. The reaction causes you to laugh as the boy plops himself on the couch beside you.

Seeing Chan in your peripheral almost made you choke on your bowl because of how good he looked. He was wearing a white shirt and grey sweats, so simple yet he looked godly.

“Not for you but I made extra ok! Wash the dishes with me at least since you still are technically a guest,” you joke.

Chan hums without another word and that was when you choked on your food. Wow, it was that easy? You thought you were going crazy. He looks at you oddly and raises an eyebrow at you.

“Sorry, I was shocked at how you agreed so quickly,” Chan laughed at your words before taking in the last bit of food on his plate, collecting all the dishes once you leaned back on the couch and sighed in contentment.

“Y/n, you said you’d do the dishes with me!” Chan whined from the kitchen. After opening your eyes and huffing, you then make your way into the kitchen and see Chan’s back in front of the sink.

“I have a dishwasher by the way, we can just rinse these off and put them in,” you say as a matter of fact.

Chan turns toward you with a huff and watches you open the space beside him, seeing you put in the rest of the dishes and turning them on.

“Remind me never to do dishes over here ever again” Chan frowns, a pout set on his lips as you wipe your hands dry.

“I’m honestly way too bored to watch something right now, do you mind just chatting for a bit? I’m too full,” the two of you walk into the living room once again before the boy hums with a smile. You sit on the couch and throw a blanket over the two of you.

Chan shifts to make himself more comfortable, suddenly noticing a very obvious lump under the blanket that slowly starts making its way toward you. “Luna, what did I say about hiding under the blanket? You’re so naughty.”

Grabbing your cat from under the covers, you then put her on top of your lap, her blue eyes staring straight into Chan’s soul. “Does she always stare? Her eyes are very, blue. It’s like she’s staring straight through me” he says, and takes a closer look at your cat.

“Sorry about her, I haven’t had anyone over in weeks so Luna’s fascinated by a new presence at the house” You giggle while petting her. Chan feels his heart do flips, seeing you in your most natural state made him fall for you just a tad bit more if that was even possible.

“Anyway, where have you been? Your parents told me you were in Japan or something. How was it there?” You grin.

You had been to Japan quite a few times, from what Chan could tell. If he could vaguely remember, one of the postcards in your room said Osaka and Kyoto, even Kobe.

“Ah yeah, we had our most recent competition there, it was great. A lot of sightseeing and whatnot for the most, I wish I went outside of Tokyo but we couldn’t leave so I had to settle with just exploring the city,” Chan breathes out, recalling the memories he made with his friends Yeonjun and Changbin.

“That sounds so cool! I’ve been to Tokyo loads of times and honestly, city life is way too busy for me. I think visiting the more provincial areas is great if you want the feeling of peace.” Chan noticed a bit of a distant look in your eyes and wondered if you were thinking about your memories in Japan as well.

Luna suddenly meows and jumps onto Chan’s lap, causing the two of you to jolt up out of surprise. “Huh, she’s usually weary of everyone. This is a first for her,” you say with a soft smile.

Chan pets Luna with a soft smile on his face, the image making your heart flutter. It was impossible to contain your crush on the male any longer after everything that happened, hell, even your cat liked him as much as you did.

“Well, hi there Luna. You’re adorable and look just like your owner. Y/n, you legitimately like your cat, she’s like a mini clone of yours.” Your cheeks heat up at Chan’s stare, the male looking between you and the cat as his eyes linger a bit too long on you.

“OK enough, as far as I know, you know way more about me than I do about you. So, tell me about yourself?” Chan says after a minute of silence.

You jolt at his voice and look at him with an awkward smile. There wasn’t much to say about yourself if you were being honest, you couldn’t gauge anything interesting enough to tell the boy.

“I can’t think of anything, I’m a pretty boring person,” Chan frowns at your words. Boring? That didn’t seem right to him, there was probably more to you than you think, he just had to get it out of you somehow.

“Are you sure? Y/n, you’ve gone to Japan and a lot of other countries, judging from your guest bedroom alone, and I think that’s interesting enough as it is.” You blush at Chan’s words, this was the first time someone had ever asked about you, and you felt grateful towards him.

“Thank you, Chan, that’s honestly super sweet of you to say. I just traveled a lot from a young age since I was offered the opportunity to, but for now, I’m just taking a break from it all. Moving to different places in such a fast-paced environment becomes exhausting once you get older,” You play with your hands and recall every single place you’ve been to.

Traveling and moving was all you had ever known since early childhood, due to your parents moving around a lot because of their jobs and because they were always just super busy people in general. One day, you just got so used to all of it that settling down for the first time in college felt foreign to you.

“That’s honestly really cool, I’ve only ever known the practice room and the music so dancing is like my version of that. Now that I was offered the opportunity to travel, I didn’t realize it would be so overwhelming, especially as a first-timer.” Chan smiles comfortingly.

He truly admired you a lot. After getting a feel of what your life was like, before settling down into one place, he was intrigued by your way of life. How things worked after you had gotten used to it all, and how you coped with the amount of change you were faced with.

“I guess we still do have quite a lot to learn from each other then. You have a lot to tell me, and I think that’s very clear based on our current ordeal.” Chan laughs.

You shrug your shoulders and throw him a sheepish smile. No one had ever been curious about you, or how you lived your life, unlike how Chan did. It felt refreshing to be able to share your life experiences and what you had gone through with someone who listened.

Sure, you did have your friends who were also curious about you, and that's how your friendships even came to be, but Chan was different.

You always thought you’d only have a few chance encounters with the boy next door, but you never thought you’d have him sitting beside you on your couch as you go over your life with him.

“I never really got the chance to talk about my life as much, but you were willing to listen to me like it was nothing. If I continue yapping though, we’d take forever and I don’t want to keep you up any longer since you are still tired from your flight,” You say, and look at Chan beside you.

A pout stays on his face, but he had totally forgotten about the jet lag and how badly he wanted to just pass out after spending time with you.

Chan truly couldn’t get enough of you, and he starts to feel a crush blooming in his chest, not like he had one already, he just never acted on his feelings towards you.

“Don’t be like that, I live next door so you’re technically welcome to come over anytime. Now go on, I’ll let you rest up. I’ll be in my room if you need me ok? Goodnight Chan,” You tilt your head a bit as you greet him goodnight, and Chan swears he felt his heart melt right at that very moment. It didn't help that your adorable cat was rubbed up against your leg too.

“I will, thanks again for letting me stay Y/n. Goodnight, sleep well,” Chan breathes out a breath he didn't even know he was holding. You grin and turn in the direction of your room, Luna following closely behind you.

Chan was restless when he came but with your presence alone, it seems like he could stay up for a whole week if he could.

Relationship Quirks Maknae Line Ver.

Seungkwan Brings home food

IT DOES NOT MATTER if you have or have not eaten, are starving, or have a full belly! Boo Seungkwan is GOING. To. Bring. Home. Food. For. You. Won't take no for an answer! And not only did he keep snacks on himself before you guys started dating but even more so now. He is such a sweetheart who will never allow you to go hungry.

Honestly, he's hypocritical in that he'll start going on a diet but the minute that you say that you need to go on a diet - the gates of hell break loose in your home. Completely outraged that you won't eat at least a bite of what he's offering you. Pouts and acts like you just told him that you want to break up or something worse. The type to say, "FINE THEN I'LL EAT IT MYSELF", then proceeds to give you the nastiest stare-down of your life as he takes a bite. (If you don't concede to his little charade quick enough this WILL become a silent treatment game)

Vernon Sends pictures of himself

Lowkey, you become a photo storage for this man. Sends a photo to you every single time he thinks of you, which is a lot more often than one might think. Is constantly sending you pics of random things he's found and can't send to anyone else. The one constant is his damn face that never changes in any of the pics despite the angle changes. It's gotten to the point where you've had to ask how he does it but he just shrugs.

Every question you ask is answered in either a meme or a photo of him looking like his regular deadpan self, no words either and if you ask for clarification he just sends another photo of him looking confused as hell.

This really is his own special brand of clinginess. You'll hear a message notification from him, open it, and it's his face at the most unflattering angle... He's literally lying on your stomach right at this moment. No explanation, even if you ask he doesn't give one.

Dino Assumes you're following him everywhere

The opposite of Wonwoo's habit lol. Dino sees absolutely no reason why you shouldn't be by his side at all times. You're his number one comfort, so why wouldn't you be with him 24/7? Weird that you would even think he'd let you leave. He has a spider sense for when you're moving too far away from him and he will immediately grab and bring you towards him.

More than the physical though, this dude will not allow you to be by yourself. If he's going on tour, congrats! You are also going on tour! There's a company trip? Great! You're a part of the company now. It may even get to the point of him downright refusing to go places if he knows there won't be space for you.

"I need to go outside and get some fresh air." "Okay, babe." "I said...I need to go outside and get some fresh air." "Alright, hun, I'll be right here." *Genuinely tweaking out at this point, gets up, and grabs your hand. Dragging you with him.* "You could've just asked me to follow you." *Leaning his head on your shoulder, still slightly upset* "You're supposed to know! I need you near me whenever possible."

Relationship Quirks Maknae Line Ver.

A/N: Super sorry that this one came a day late, lovelies! But it's here now and I absolutely adore these boys. I think my favorite of all the habits is probably Woozi's (I'm quite literally biased) but the one that I'm most like is Vernon. Wbu??? Please reblog and comment! Let me know ur thoughts in my asks. Oh! And my requests are opennnnn! Have a great one, babes!

pairing - friends to lovers dino x reader genre - fluff word count - 556 warnings - mentions of a doctor once synopsis - in which you accidentally give your bestfriend the best birthday gift a/n - guess who came back from a long writing block

Best Birthday Gift

“I don’t even know why I’m doing this.” You groan under your breath, slipping on your butt again for the 30th time. You were ice skating with him for his 18th birthday but you were starting to regret it.

“You're doing this because you love me!” Chan chirps laughing as you land on your butt.

You only offer him an eyeroll trying to stand up again but failing miserably. “You lucky it's your birthday.” You mutter.

“yeah yeah, need some help there?” He says almost sarcastically offering a hand, for a second you think he’ll retract his hand when you try and grab it because that’s such a dino thing to do but when you reach out to grab his palm he doesn’t pull it away surprisingly.

“Thought you were gonna leave me on my butt forever.” You joke knowing that you might have possibly given him another idea.

“You just gave me an amazing idea!” He exclaimed exactly as you predicted, before he could carry out that idea though you stood up tugging on his hand slightly.

“Oh, well remind me to never go ice skating with you again.” You insist. Dino doesn’t say anything only moving slightly closer to you shuffling his feet awkwardly but the closeness is oddly welcome.

“Cool idea, but no.” He says looking down at you. When did he get so tall??

A blush creeps up your cheeks, maybe it was the close proximity, the way he was looking down at you with that smirk, you didn’t know but someone was definitely turning up the temperature.

“You're blushing,” He lets out a soft laugh, closing the distance between you two.

“n-no! I’m not. Your eyes must have a problem.” You mumble trying to avoid his eyes, one look and it would be game over for you.

“hmm, then I think you should look into my eyes and find out the problem.” He suggests watching your cheeks get darker, smirking knowing that he’s the reason.

You were so weak for him now, one more sentence and you would fold. However you manage to spit out a sentence, “Y-you should go to the doctor and get that checked out,”

“Should I? But, the only person I wanna get checked out by is you.” He mentioned, gloved hand making its way to your chin, tilting it up slightly so you could meet his eyes.

“u-uhm i, I’m not a professional!” You blurt out face glowing red. If someone had seen you without knowing the context, they would’ve probably thought you ran 2 miles.

“I don’t care if you're a professional or not, you're all I need.” He cups your cheeks looking at them endearingly. Was this really about to happen??

You don’t say anything only looking at his smug smirk now replaced with a genuine smile. You hear a soft “can I?” from him and you nod, giving him the green light. He leans in closer, lips brushing against yours slightly. He goes back to his smug smirk, teasing you slightly by pulling away but before you can whine, he finishes the kiss, warm lips pressed onto yours. You could swear that sparks were flying everywhere, your heart was pounding, filling your chest with much-needed adrenaline.

“I’ll take that as my birthday gift!” He cheered as you only looked at him feigning annoyance.

taglist will be reblogged!

——

quite frankly - you’re over it.

for the past month and a half, you’ve been pushing your limits at your job. your boss designated you as the lead of a project and on top of that, you had to put in overtime to ensure that the project workload AND your individual load were still up to standards. while you knew things would be worth it in the end (your project commissions and overtime would give you an extra $2,500 dollars on your paycheck), you would be lying if you said your mental and physical health were starting to deteriorate.

today especially, you realized things were going to get worse before they got better. as you shut down your workspace, you felt ounces of your energy leave your body. too much happened for your liking - your teammates argued about the project’s direction, your boss complained about the most minute details in a presentation you were to give in a few days, and to culminate the day, your company laptop malfunctioned while you were working and it had to be sent to i.t. for it to get fixed. at this point, you were ready to head home, wrap yourself up in your covers, and forget about everything and everyone.

you’re not sure if you heard people say goodbye to you as you left the office, but if they did, you were too tired (and too agitated) to care and respond back. as you enter into the parking deck of your office building, you fish for your phone and see some missed texts from your boyfriend, chan.

channie ❀: hey, just wanted to check on you

channie ❀: i’ll probably be over later tonight

channie ❀: so much is going on, and i really want to see you

you breathe a sigh of relief at seeing your boyfriend’s name appear on your screen, but you also can’t help but worry. your boyfriend chan was a professional dancer - and a damn good one. he’s been dancing since he was three, and it’s his first love. he teaches at three of the most popular dance studios on a weekly basis, drawing in huge crowds of avid and eager learners. his instagram comments are always flooded with words of praise - handsomeness and talent catching the eyes of millions. his sharpness, keen eye for detail, and flawless execution made him the target for entertainment companies and he was often called in to be a backup dancer or choreograph for popular idol groups. currently, he’s preparing to dance with a popular boy group after their latest comeback broke records.

he did mention that his rehearsals were getting a bit more intense, especially since this group in particular were about to start their promotion period. there were days where he complained that his body ached and times that you helped take care of him, so you just had to pray and hope that today wasn’t as harsh on him.

you and chan have been together for a year and a half after meeting at party hosted by a mutual friend. you weren’t sure that you two were a good match for each other, but after a few meet-ups and intriguing conversations you realized that you two had more in common than you thought. whatever one of you might have lacked, another made up for in actions or words. you two complemented each other and you had each other’s backs. even through some rough patches, you both realized that there was no one else you wanted to be with. there was no going back.

as you started your car engine, you shoot a quick text back to chan, thanking all higher powers you would at least have some better solace this evening.

babe 😏: you too? i guess we can talk about later when you come by. see you in a bit, love ya ❀

the drive after work feels somewhat longer than normal, the traffic almost making you reach your limit. but you finally find yourself back in the comfort of your apartment, kicking your shoes off to the side and dropping your bag and blazer to the floor. you breathe a huge sigh of relief as you enter your bedroom, take off your bra, and flop onto your bed, letting the sweet scent of your bedsheets fill your nose.

you find yourself drifting into dreamland a few minutes later, but the grumbling of your stomach and the fact that you still had the rest of your work clothes on brings you back to reality. despite some opposition from the rest of your body, you get up and grab some loungewear from your dresser and head for the shower, hoping to relax your tense muscles.

after you come out the shower and change, you head to the kitchen to start on dinner. you decide on chicken fried rice - one of you and chan’s favorite meals to eat together. you pull the ingredients from the fridge and the seasonings from the cabinet, asking your smart home device to play serene, chill music. the instrumentals fill your space, and you get to work - washing the chicken first.

as you finish garnishing both plates, you hear your doorbell ring. you check your camera, and smile as you see your boyfriend come into view. you quickly wash your hands and answer the door, embracing chan in a tight hug before he can even say anything to you.

he’s surprised at how you rush at him, but it quickly melts into a soft smile as he wraps one hand around your waist and one on the back of your neck. he gently sways you back and forth, rubbing the small of your skin. after nearly eight hours of rehearsal, all he wanted to do was spend the rest of the day with you with no worries.

“hey you,” he whispers, glowing smile still on his perfect features. you finally make eye contact with him, a smile coming on your face, beaming at the fact that you were finally with your love. “hey,” you respond, going up on your toes to press a kiss to his soft cheek. chan takes the opportunity to place his hand on your chin and places a kiss on your lips. he quickly realizes he missed this wonderful feeling, and he deepens his movements, smirking when you can feel yourself lose all control and give into his desires.

you have to force yourself to come off him, knowing that if this continues dinner would be long forgotten. “c’mon babe, i made your favorite!” you take his hand and he drops his bags by your door, the familiar blending of seasonings wafting through his nose. “you made chicken fried rice?!” chan beams, entering the kitchen, his mouth nearly drooling at the plate full of goodness. “man, i really needed this today, thank you baby,” he places a kiss on your cheek this time as he goes to wash his hands. you can’t help but blush as you take the plates to the table, taking your seat as chan follows behind you.

“i’ll eat deliciously,” he affirms you, toasting your fork to you, taking his first bite and nodding in agreement at your cooking. you give him a minute to eat before you ask him anything.

“how have rehearsals been?”

“in one word, crazy,” he sighs. “i had to come in early to teach one of the members since he had an overseas schedule when the group had practice. then we had to rework some formations and drill the choreo over and over to get ready for filming tomorrow. i’m excited for filming and all, but im just tired.”

you sigh, shaking your head in agreement. “that’s understandable, things at the office have been crazy too. i love what i do, but this overtime is driving me crazy. i can’t wait to be finished so i can get this big bonus.”

“you’ve got this through. and when that check comes, it’ll all be worth it. just make sure you take care of yourself in the meantime. you know i’m proud of you right?” he rubs your back, his hand softening your tight muscles.

“thanks,” you respond shyly, smiling at your lover. “you know i’m proud of you too. you’re living out your dream everyday and you’re having fun doing it. your hard work is paying off too, chan. if i haven’t told you lately, you’re doing amazing. but you also need to make sure you’re taking care of yourself too, okay?”

he nods in agreement. “it’s only fair cause i asked you to do the same. i promise i’ll take care of myself.”

time passes by pleasantly, empty plates now in the dishwasher, conversations continuing from the kitchen table to the couch. your head rests on chan’s shoulders, your right hand on his leg.

“so when do you guys film the performance video?”

“tomorrow, and it’s supposed to last two days. then we have promotions with the group, but they divided us into two groups, so i only have to perform at music shows during the second week.”

an idea pops into your head, imaginary lightbulbs flashing rapidly. even though you were working overtime, you were scheduled for absences on friday and monday and your boss hadn’t rescinded on your days off. if chan only had to work until thursday, that would mean for once - both of your schedules would align.

“wait.. so that means you have a break after the music video?” you question. “even if it’s a short one?”

“yeah, what are you getting at?”

you sit up from your boyfriend’s shoulder realizing that the planning you completed in your head might have actually worked. “chan,” you exclaimed, “i actually have a break too! i get friday and monday off! chan, do you know what this means? we finally have the chance to spend more time together!”

your excitedness makes chan swoon, but it also brings a tinge of sadness. you were right - you two have been so busy that you had limited time together. between him dancing and teaching and with your work project, moments like these where you two could get away for a minute were rare.

“we should do something special then baby! we could go to dinner,” he gasps coming up with a new idea, “and i’ve always wanted to take you on a night boat ride! remember when i sent you those pictures from japan?”

earlier in the year, chan went overseas for another performance opportunity and during his time off, he and some of his other dancer friends took a boat ride with the city lights gleaming over the large body of water, waves that could lull anyone to sleep with their calming effect. it was a sight to behold, even through a 7 inch phone screen.

“yeah i do! those pictures were gorgeous,” you admire, thinking how back them you wished you were with chan on that boat, head resting on his shoulders like you did earlier, taking peeks of your boyfriend every now and then. he would be staring into the distance, somehow managing to look more handsome than anyone else.

“actually, i kinda want to do something grander than a date night though..” you hint, playing with your hair as you temporarily avoid eye contact. “i’ve been seeing this idea on insta for a while, and now i dream of doing it with you, chan. why don’t we take a trip together babe?”

“like a day trip?”

“mmm, i was thinking more like for the weekend. and it doesn’t have to be somewhere ridiculously far either, not like bali or anything! matter of fact, there’s a beach that i found right off the coast and the city is stunning!” you pull out your phone and type in the name of the beach in the search engine. you pass your phone to chan, images of beautiful blue water and white sand flooding his lenses.

“ah, crystal beach!” chan recognizes the name. “some of my friends have been there before, they said it was really nice! they said there’s a waterfront hotel right in front of the beach, and from the right floor you can get the perfect view.”

suddenly, you can envision the two of you on the fifteenth floor, sunrise glistening through the windows as you sleep in chan’s arms, legs wrapped around his waist, head on his chest. nothing else would matter in that moment expect for you two. no work, no projects, no eight-counts - just you, your lover, and the gentle ocean breeze.

“so, what are you thinking? should we go for it?” you ask.

“let’s do it babe! we’ve never done something like this before, and we can make some great memories out of it! and from the looks it, we could both use some time away from all of this,” he gestures towards the windows, overseeing the big city that encased you two.

“yeah,” you nod in agreement. “i think some time away is long overdue. and it’ll be good for us! honestly, i was thinking about us waking up together, and now i can’t wait to get out of here!” you both share a quick laugh as you head comes to the familiar space of chan’s shoulders.

you two share a few moments of silence before chan taps your leg twice as your eyes look into his, “do you wanna leave friday morning? we can get there by the afternoon, chill for a bit, and then get dinner or something.”

“m’kay, that sounds good to me. do you want me to reserve the room or do you wanna do it?” you ask, rubbing his shoulder.

“i can reserve the hotel room! don’t worry about it babe.” you kiss chan’s cheek as a thank you, fingers intertwining with his. chan pulls out his phone, typing in the hotel name, leading him to the website. he then locks his phone, already making plans to make this the best trip for you both.

some more time passes, you and chan watching random youtube videos, laughing at funny moments. but soon it comes time for chan to leave, he has an early morning because of the music video filming.

you walk with him to the door, handing him his bags. you go on your toes to kiss his cheek one more time before he leaves. “good luck on filming, i’ll see you on friday!”

he bends down to press a gentle kiss on your lips, hand caressing your jaw to deepen the feeling. you return his passion, tongues moving together like choreography. when you separate, his lips form in a smirk - he loves the feeling of leaving you breathless.

“if i get out early on thursday night i’ll text you. if i do, can i spend the night?”

“of course, baby,” you smile at him, biting your lip. “i’ll see you soon, okay? you need to get some rest.”

“okay, okay, love you baby,” he says leaving one more kiss on your lips.

“love you too, text me when you get home!” you respond as he opens the door, waving you goodbye, signaling with his fingers that he would affirm he got home safely.

chan closes the door as he walks to the elevator, hearing your door lock, making sure you were safe. he quickly gets out his phone, the hotel’s website coming back into view. he chooses the dates, chooses two people to occupy the space, and it takes chan to the room selection. he scrolls until he find the perfect room - one with a king size bed, and a balcony view, hopefully one that would overlook the beach.

before he reserves the room, he texts one of his friends that stayed at the same hotel.

hey yeonjun, i need a favor.

which exact floor were you on when you went to that hotel at crystal beach?

i miss him so bad i’m gonna sob đŸ˜•â˜ïž i miss him 😖

fireworks - lcn

content : bf!chan x gn!reader ; tooth rotting fluff... ; 0.5k words warnings : kissing !!! & small mention of reader having longish hair. - chan is very much in love w u and wants to prove it !! an : i have no idea if ill manage to make another new years post so heres dino because i miss him lots. also i literally love writing fluff i know this is like the only thing i post BUT I CANT HELP IT. i love svt fluff too much!!!

Fireworks - Lcn

“you know y/n, i really love you.” his words were random, but random moments like these warmed your heart up the most.

you looked up from your phone after endlessly scrolling through social media without a goal, trying to fill in the space between now and midnight, when the fireworks outside the window would signify the new year. chan was sitting with you in bed, similarly viewing social media and occasionally looking at you, absolutely smitten with the way your hair was tucked behind your ears and how your cheeks were pink from the warmth of the room.

“hm? well
i really love you more,” you replied with that pretty grin he loved seeing, “more than you could ever imagine.”

“that’s not true, you can’t love me more
” he fell silent, thinking about a way to prove this statement to you even though he knew that you both loved each other just as much. “i love you more than words can say.”

“then show me,” he glanced at you, his own smile now growing, a sight you were used to seeing everyday. his friends always teased him about it, the way you could make him melt by just looking at him or saying something that got his heart beating that little bit faster. you thought it was the cutest thing ever though.

rather than verbally responding, he simply nodded, placing his hand on your cheek and moving his face closer to yours. if you couldn’t feel the warmth before, you could definitely feel it now. his actions felt so gentle yet clearly deliberate, you couldn’t help but notice his features softening under the bedside light.

kissing chan was something you did often, you kissed him once he came back from work, you kissed him after he got you dinner, you kissed him when you wanted to wake him up from his heavy slumber. but you rarely kissed him like this, it wasn’t often you felt your heart palpitate, echoing the rhythm of love. you suddenly felt like a teenager again, feeling his lips on yours for the first time.

you were sure chan felt the same, the way his kiss was so effortlessly breathtaking, a seamless connection speaking volumes when your lips collided. you could feel his thumb tracing your cheek, a soft whisper of admiration of its own.

with a tender withdrawal, you felt your breath shorten. the silence between you was anything but awkward, you both acknowledged the subtle lingering gazes that chan planted on you quietly, appreciating the way you shyly avoided eye contact.

he opened his mouth to say something, but got quickly cut off by the loud sounds of the booms and bursts of the fireworks outside, chucking instead. “happy new years baby.” he added on, taking your hand and dragging you to the window.

“happy new years, chan.” you responded quietly, following him to the window to see the jittery flashes in the sky.

if you could describe chan, you would describe him using a firework. just like one, hes really pretty, beautifully spoken and a little loud - but it adds to the charm. hes also very random, like a firework exploding in irregular patterns. and like a firework, he illuminates the darkness with colour and joy, leaving a lasting impression on everyone around him.

for the new year, you know one thing - you want chan to stay by your side. and if hes a bright, loud firework, you’ll be his fuse, his bonfire.

THIS IS SO FUCJING CUTE

IN THE RAIN

IN THE RAIN
IN THE RAIN
IN THE RAIN

ăƒ»â„ăƒ» for the 2k followers event

summary: Chan knew that falling for their choreographer would be a bad idea. Did it stop him, though? Not at all.

pairing: idol!chan x choreographer!reader

genre: fluff, secret relationship | word count: 2k

song recommendation: i don't understand but i luv u by seventeen

IN THE RAIN

Chan wasn’t bothered with looking for a relationship, the process of meeting someone, getting to know them, creating a bond - it was all too much for him. And the idol life didn’t make it any easier. Most of his days were spent locked up in the studio or on set, and even if he didn’t have any schedule he was too caught up in work to take a day off. The last thing he had on his mind was a relationship.

All of that changed when he met you.

IN THE RAIN

“Let’s go over this once again,” you sighed, rubbing your forehead. You and the boys had been working on the chorus of IDUBILY for a couple of days now, but they still couldn’t synchronise on some part, which was very unusual for them. You wouldn’t act like such a pain in the ass if it wasn’t for the fact that they had to be ready to perform it by next week.

It was nearing two am and you could barely move - Jun looked like he was sleeping with his eyes open, and Minghao sat on the ground more than he danced. Hoshi and Chan were the only people that seemed like they had some energy left, although the older one was weirdly quiet.

“You know what, let’s just stop here,” you could have sworn all four of them exhaled at the same time, and you couldn’t help but giggle, as they all collapsed to the ground. They acted like they were fifty, and not in their twenties.

It also seemed that none of them were thinking straight anymore - definitely not Hoshi, who instead of helping Minghao get up by his outstretched arms, started to drag him towards the door. “Um guys, do you need help?” You asked, concerned, looking after the two men.

“Don’t worry, they’ll be fine,” Jun patted your back, giving you a warm, but tired smile. “You coming Dino?” he asked the youngest, holding the door open for him.

You exchanged a quick glance with the boy standing next to you before looking down, pretending to be busy with repeating some of the choreo steps, but thanks to the mirror in front of you, you could watch your boyfriend in the reflection.

He was a terrible liar, and if your relationship wasn’t at stake, you’d find his troubled expression extremely cute, how his cheeks were dusted with a pink blush, and his ears were all red.

If you could, you'd do all the talking for him. You knew lying to his brothers wasn't fun or easy, but if you started making excuses for him why he had to stay longer at practice, or why he came earlier than others, the boys would get suspicious.

“I’ll just go over that last part, and then I’ll be heading home. Just a couple more minutes,” Chan said, stumbling over his words a couple of times. Thank God Jun was too tired to notice it.

“Just don’t stay up too long. Go home and get some rest, yeah?” The older said, and bid you farewell, closing the door behind him.

“I can't do this anymore,” your boyfriend groaned, falling dramatically to the ground. He curled into a small ball and all you could see was his head of beautiful blonde hair. "I can't even hug you normally. What am I talking about? I can't even look at you," he mumbled, clearly delirious from the lack of sleep and food.

You needed to get him food and drive him home as soon as possible before he’d go totally crazy.

"What are you talking about, honey?" You giggled and knelt down next to his body, placing your hand on his sweaty back. "Of course you can look at me. Don't be silly, Channie."

He shook his head hard and straightened up enough to look at you. "But that’s the thing. I can’t. Whenever I look at you, my eyes turn into hearts and the boys would immediately know that something is up," he looked at you seriously. "You know what I mean, right?"

You couldn't help but laugh, seeing Chan so desperate to prove his point, who probably didn't even know what he was talking about. "I can assure you, darling, you don’t have hearts instead of eyes when you look at me.”

He looked at you in surprise before his expression fell a little, replacing the excitement with sadness. "So you don't see the love in my eyes when I look at you?" His lower lip pouted slightly and he couldn't look any cuter even if he tried.

"Are you sure you're not drunk?"

“Babyyy,” he groaned, burying his head in your lap.

“Sorry, you’re just very endearing when you’re half asleep.”

He mumbled something but you couldn't make out what he meant, although you were sure it was a mix of whining and complaining that you didn't love him anymore.

At first, when you began dating, you got a bit surprised by the shift in his behaviour when he was with the boys versus you only. Sure, he was still his adorable little self with them too, but he had a habit of turning into a baby when he was with you, dropping his guard completely. You loved how hardworking and ambitious he was, but your favourite side of him had to be this one - him curled up in your lap, confessing his love like a lovesick teenager, looking like the cutest thing ever.

“How long do you think we’ll have to hide like this?” Chan whispered, tracing the lines on your palm with his finger. “I want to hug you like a normal boyfriend would. I want to kiss you good morning when I come to rehearsals. I want to do all of the lovey dovey stuff to piss off the boys.”

Dating as an idol was tricky. Both Chan and you knew that, and as much as he tried assuring you that he was okay with hiding your relationship - it still killed you seeing your boyfriend upset that he couldn’t treat you with as much love as he would like to. He adored showing his affection to people close to him, and hiding his feelings he had for you had to be one of the hardest things he had to do in his life.

The worst part was that you weren’t sure how the company would react to your relationship - an idol and his choreographer, that didn’t sound right. That’s why you decided to keep it secret, at least for a while before you wouldn’t figure out what to do next.

“Trust me, baby, it kills me too,” you said, brushing his bangs away from his face, revealing honey-brown eyes looking up at you. “You have no idea how much I’d love to be able to hold your hand without getting stares from everyone, but you know we can’t tell the company yet. But you know
 we could tell the boys.”

Dozens of emotions flashed across his face in a second, as if he couldn't quite comprehend what you had just said. "What?" Chan quickly lifted his head from your lap, straightening up and swaying slightly as he did so. “Be careful, you're tired, don't make such sudden movements,” you scolded him, holding his arm to help him keep his balance.

"Do you think we could seriously tell them?" He asked, ignoring your comment.

"Why not? I'm sure some of them have already figured out that something is going on between us anyways. Besides, they love you baby, I’m sure they’d be happy you finally have a girlfriend."

“I know but- Hey, what do you mean finally?” He pouted at you angrily, ripping his arm from your hold.

“I was just joking, Chan.”

“I didn’t find it funny.”

“We seriously need to get you to bed.”

You stayed at Chan’s place that night - you had to make sure he was properly tucked in, and actually resting and not going back to work, otherwise you wouldn’t be able to fall asleep yourself. It wasn’t fun knowing you were part of the reason why your boyfriend was so overworked. You never meant to tire the boys out so much, but on the other hand, you had to - dancing was your job.

Plus, from the way he was clinging to you, his head on your chest and arms around your body - you knew your earlier talk about your relationship took a big toll on him too.

“Will you be there for the shooting next week?” Chan mumbled, his breath tickling your neck.

You sighed, running your fingers through his hair. Yes, of course you’d be there, you were their choreographer after all, but it wasn’t what Chan meant. “Will you be there for the shooting next week as my girl?” That was what he truly wanted to ask.

“I’ll be there. Not in the way you’d want me to, but
 We’ll figure something out.”

IN THE RAIN

It had been raining all day - from the time you arrived at the recording site just after sunrise, until now, when the sun was about to set, and most of you only dreamed of warm tea, dry clothes and a comfortable bed. The directors said that the rain would add character to the shots, which was true, but it was easy for them to say - they were sitting under umbrellas and didn't have to stand in the middle of the street soaking wet.

You just prayed that none of the boys would get sick, that was the last thing they needed right now, and if any of them even had a runny nose tomorrow, you swore that you would deal with their label yourself. You almost cursed out the rest of Seventeen when all of them pulled up to the set to support their performance team.

They took “I love my team, I love my crew” a bit too seriously.

“They look so hot right now,” said one of the makeup artists that was obsessively looking at Minghao the whole time. Her comment was met with an awkward silence, because yes - they did look hot, but more than that - they looked cold and tired. Hoshi had his arms wrapped around Jun, and your boyfriend tried to shield them from the rain, holding his jacket up as a makeshift umbrella over all four of them.

“Okay everyone! Let's record the outro and that’ll be it for today!” one of the main directors yelled out, making everyone breathe out a sigh of relief.

Despite the terrible weather, fatigue and a bit too obsessive workers, the guys did their best, and you were sure the outcome would be amazing. Before one of Chan's stylists could grab his raincoat, you took it yourself and ran out into the rain with it to your boyfriend.

“What are you- Get back under the umbrellas, you’ll get all wet, baby,” Chan said in a hushed tone, trying to put the raincoat that was meant for him over your shoulders.

You smiled, the rain hitting your face, making a mess of your makeup and hair that was sticking to your face. “You know how we talked about telling the boys?” You asked, grabbing Chan’s hand.

He looked at you with surprise, brows furrowed and mouth in a small pout. He clearly remembered how a few days ago you talked about how you were both ready to tell the boys about your relationship, but he didn't think it would happen so soon. “What do you mean?” Was this really happening?

“Kiss me, Lee Chan,” you chuckled.

You were never big on romantic clichĂ©s like kissing in the rain, and you weren’t sure it was the best way of telling his members about you, but the moment Chan smiled and took your face in his hands, looking at you as if nothing else existed around you - you couldn't care less about it.

“If we do this there’ll be no turning  back,” he beamed, looking like the happiest man on earth.

“Let’s fucking do this, baby.”

Slowly, you closed the distance between you, the soft sound of raindrops accompanying your every move. You rested your hands on Chan’s chest, and tilted your head upwards, meeting his cold lips halfway.

“I fucking knew it!” You heard Seungcheol yell, making you and now your official boyfriend chuckle against each other’s lips.

Ot13 Seventeen : When You Have Trouble Sleeping
Ot13 Seventeen : When You Have Trouble Sleeping
Ot13 Seventeen : When You Have Trouble Sleeping

ot13 seventeen : when you have trouble sleeping

Ot13 Seventeen : When You Have Trouble Sleeping

seungcheol : probably buys you a lot of products and gadgets like white noise machine and air purifiers and blankets to help you sleep better. will indulge you and cuddle you till you get comfortable and sleep

jeonghan : will run his fingers through your scalp and massage your head lightly to induce sleep. surprisingly it worked

joshua : will end up staying up with you. you two have some real deep talk about yourselves and your relationships and just everything around you.

junhui : will take you to the balcony with a lot of blankets and cuddle you on the relaxing chair. he believes stargazing and the fresh cool air will help you sleep better. both of you end up falling asleep in the single chair, you on top of him.

hoshi : will tell you a silly bed time story and keeps extending it with his imagination till he hears your soft snores, and then wraps his arms around you, murmuring a good night in your hair before sleeping too.

wonwoo : would joke about fucking you so you get tired and fall asleep and gets actually surprised when you ask him to try out. he would fuck you, but more gently and passionately to bring you to a satisfying, sleep-bringing orgasm

woozi : magic in his arms. somehow he will hug you tight and you'll just fall asleep soon, full of his scent as you nuzzle your face in the crook of his neck. will pepper you with kisses, making you feel full and loved.

minghao : will make you some hot chamomile or hibiscus tea for you. will sit down with you and ask if there is anything on your mind that is keeping you up and talk with you about it if there is.

mingyu : he is very cuddly while sleeping and with those big arms, he is usually very warm and comfy to cuddle with. however if you can't sleep with that, he'll hold you loose, letting you get some air and get comfortable in your space before pulling you close into a comfier position

seokmin : he'll hum or sing for you. he has a very sweet voice and it be such a waste if he didn't. you find his voice very soothing and have told him before so he knows the best way to help you sleep is by softly singing by your ear.

seungkwan : he is used to staying awake till you sleep first so when you are not able to sleep for a long time he knows something is wrong and asks you about it. whether it you are not finding a comfortable position to sleep or are bothered by something in your mind, he'll help you with it.

vernon : wouldn't be as quick to notice your discomfort but when he does, he is really concerned. would take you for a long walk if it helps your mind come at ease. he won't pry you to tell him whats keeping you up, but if you tell him, he'll listen to you diligently.

chan : will stay up with you if you need to talk about something or just watch tiktok with you while spooning you or cuddle you in whatever position you feel most comfortable in or all of the above, depending on how you are feeling.

hiiii!!!! i adore your works and love reading them!! đŸ«¶đŸ» while scrolling through your profile i saw that your requests for ot13 were open! :) so i thought maybe i could request ot13 reaction to a s/o with tattoos? (doesn't have to be a full sleeve for example, just tattoos in general)

or if you're not really feeling it, maybe ot13 reaction to a s/o with physical touch as their love language? đŸ«Ł

i hope you're having a nice day / night and keep up the good work!! 💘

Hiiii!!!! I Adore Your Works And Love Reading Them!! While Scrolling Through Your Profile I Saw That
Hiiii!!!! I Adore Your Works And Love Reading Them!! While Scrolling Through Your Profile I Saw That
Hiiii!!!! I Adore Your Works And Love Reading Them!! While Scrolling Through Your Profile I Saw That

ot13 seventeen : when your love language is physical touch

ceecee's note : sorry for late post lol and also I'm doing the second prompt not cuz I'm uncomfy with tattoos in fact I have two myself but I just find the second one really fluffy tho if you want me to do another one with the first prompt too, you can ask again and I would love writing about it too <33

seungcheol : he's really clingy himself, so he loves that you show your love to him by constantly hugging him and cuddling with him. when not in front of camera, the two of your really look like those teddy bears who hug each other and have been stitchd at their hands so they can literally not be separated from each other. like two koalas.

jeonghan : doesn't respond to you clinging on him very actively like seungcheol but everytime you hug him, he'll automatically hug back and when you are just touch starved, he'll come and plop his head on your lap so you can touch him and hug him and cuddle him all you want.

joshua : my gentleman. not the one to usually start physical contactbut really loves when you do and responds with almost the same energy. loves having you in his arms and keeping you warm all the time.

junhui : secretly very cuddly. doesn't show it a lot at the start of your relationship. now he'll pout every second you are not physically in contact with him and is just as much of a cuddle bear as you are.

soonyoung : he also naturally has physical-touch as his love language. he is more often clinging on you that you on him and literally loves when you two are hugging so close there is not even space for vacuum between you two, cheeks squishing against each other.

wonwoo : physical affection isnt his love language but he loves being the recipient of it. there are very less people he is as comfortable to be so close and touchy with and you are one of them. he really loves having you cling onto him like you are a koala and he is your tree branch

woozi : he rarely responds to you cuddling to him always, but that doesn't mean he doesn't love it. he really loves it. he actually feels so loved and appreciated the way you are always holding on him. on rare occasions like when he is tired or just full of love for you, he'll initiate physical touch by hugging you close and clinging to you instead.

minghao : doesn't show on surface to others how much he loves having you constantly bother him with hugs and cuddles and touches but you do know that he really enjoys that just by how he looks at you and smiles at you and always has a loose yet firm hand resting on your hips or back everytime you are by his side.

mingyu : this big baby literally feels so happy every time you cling to him. though physical touch isn't his primary love lang, its definitely one of them. literally greets you with bone-crushing hugs everytime and is peppering you with kisses whenever you cuddle beside him.

seokmin : he loves whenever you are constantly touching him. loves seeing you smile when you hug him and breath full of his scent. hugs you every chance he gets because he knows how much you like it. would never push you off him or even tell you so whenever you are hugging or cuddling him, even if he gets slightly uncomfortable or his arm dies under the weight of your head.

seungkwan : all he really needs after the long day of work is being hugged full by you. it just so helps that you love doing so. literally relaxes under your touch every time, just increasing you urge to keep him close all the time. if you let go of him even momentarily, he'll get so sulky.

vernon : he isn't one to start physical touch by himself either, but is always really comfortable when you do so. doesn't even realsie when he wraps his arms around you and rests his head on top of yours while cuddling. just loves you being in his space when he loves you.

chan : he's the kind who keeps changing his love language to match his partner's. your love language is physical touch? well now so is his! literally matches your energy in cuddliness and touchiness all the time. will hold you close and tight all the time and kiss you all the time because he knows how much you love it.

i’m trying to find these specific fics if anyone knows which ones i’m talking about please let me know!!! one of them is a Dk fic where him and the reader are neighbors (i think) and he gets drunk and confesses to the reader and then avoids the reader. i think the title was something along the lines of “the one smiling guy” (???) and then the second one was a dino fic and it was idol!au this one was like like a one shot smau and the screenshots were mainly on text messages and twitter. the reader was there for him through out majority of his life before and after debut. i can remember some parts of the smau where it was a recap of a live and one of the members revealed that dino lets the reader call him otter or baby otter. i think the last screenshot of the smau was of them confirming their relationship on twitter

i know this was long and i’m not sure if lots of people will see this but hopefully i can find them soon đŸ™đŸ»

The Reason Of Thirteen Smiles (98z+99)

PAIRING seungkwan, hansol, and chan (separately) x reader GENRE fluff | 1k words | all established relationships SYPNOSIS the reason behind thirteen smiles (is you). NOTE final part of this series! thank you all for the love shown, it was so fun writing everything.

The Reason Of Thirteen Smiles (98z+99)

BOO SEUNGKWAN

"hyung! how many more times!"

seungkwan usually does not take long to record, but this new song had high notes like he's never seen before.

"just drink some water and try again. you can reach the note, come on." jihoon says from outside the recording booth.

seungkwan groans, never having this much difficulty before.

in the morning, he was informed of the hectic schedule he had waiting for him. first this recording session for seventeen's new album, then he had to learn the choreography for bss' upcoming concert.

seungkwan just wanted this day to be over already.

"hyung, can we take ten? i just need a break, please."

jihoon stares inside the booth, spotting seungkwan in a stressed state, so he agrees. "yeah, that's okay. let’s take a break for ten."

jihoon feels bad watching seungkwan's shoulder slumped as he walks over to the couch to rest, but it doesn't last long until jihoon gets a text message.

seungkwan leans his head back on the couch, sprawling his body all over the comfortable leather.

"hyung, do you know i have dance practice after this? god, i just want to rest... hyung? hyung, are you even listening to me?"

jihoon hums in acknowledgment, "yeah, yeah, stop whining. i have a gift for you." jihoon places his phone down on the table, standing up to open his studio door.

"surprise kwannie!"

you walk in through the door with four drinks in a bag, beelining to your boyfriend.

"what? i thought you were working today?"

you chuckle, setting the drinks down on the table in front of seungkwan. "i got off work early, so i stopped by to surprise you."

you hand jihoon his coffee, before pointing at the remaining coffees.

"you didn't even drink any americanos today. how were you going to function properly, love?"

seungkwan feels like he can cry in your arms from exhaustion, "did i ever tell you that i love you?"

jihoon shakes his head, "guys, i'm still here, you know."

you snap your head back to seungkwan, taking out the three drinks. "two are for you by the way. you have a long day ahead so i know you need two cups of iced americano."

"just take my last name already."

seungkwan smiles watching you visit him during work and makes sure he has his daily caffeine.

The Reason Of Thirteen Smiles (98z+99)

CHWE HANSOL

"baby, get ready and come out so we can leave," hansol's voice calls from the living room, pulling you out of your thoughts.

you smile, knowing hansol is going to help you run some errands today, something you rarely did together due to his busy schedule.

you quickly finish getting ready and step out, only to find your boyfriend sprawled peacefully on the couch.

chwe hansol had fallen asleep in a matter of ten minutes.

carefully, you tiptoe closer, not wanting to disturb his much-needed rest. you watch him for a moment, his chest rising and falling rhythmically with each breath, a rare sight of tranquility for someone who always seemed to be on the move.

deciding not to wake him, you quietly grab your phone and car keys, slipping out of the apartment to go run errands alone.

hours later, hansol stirred from his nap when he heard the gentle rustle of grocery bags and the click of the door. confusion knit his brows until you enter, setting down the groceries with a quiet sigh of relief.

"you left without me?" hansol murmurs, still half in a daze.

you turn, startled. "oh, i thought you were asleep. i'm sorry for waking you. you were so peaceful so i decided to go alone and leave you to sleep."

hansol smiles warmly, his heart swelling with gratitude. "no, it's okay. thank you though, i really needed that nap."

your expression softens, "you barely have time to relax these days."

"it's nothing new. but seriously, that nap felt good."

you walk over to place the grocery bags on the counter. "do you want to go sleep early?"

hansol trails after you, hugging your back and resting his head on your back. "you know me so well."

hansol smiles when you make sure he gets enough rest when his life gets busy.

The Reason Of Thirteen Smiles (98z+99)

LEE CHAN

it was a friend dinner with all his friends, and chan was not in the best mood. chan was zoning out, absentmindedly stirring his food. his mind replayed the moments when his attempts at humor fell flat, making him question if he was losing his touch.

next to him at the table, you notice his subdued demeanor. you subtly nudged his foot under the table, offering a reassuring smile.

midway through the dinner, seokmin brought up an incident with joshua from the previous concert, and chan couldn't help but chime in with his perspective of the situation that he found humorous. he holds his breath, uncertain of the reaction.

then, unexpectedly, you burst into laughter. it was genuine and hearty, echoing through the restaurant. your laughter was infectious, drawing smiles from your other friends.

"stop. so what happened after that?" you chuckle, your eyes sparkling while waiting for chan to finish storytelling.

soon everyone else joins in the story, each going around sharing a different incident that happened on-stage from the previous show, that others may have not witnessed.

eventually, chan feels lighter, sharing more jokes and stories with renewed enthusiasm. each time you made sure to react to his words, showing attention to him.

as the evening draws to a close, chan leans over to you, whispering a heartfelt thanks. "you have no idea how much that meant to me," he confesses, pressing a kiss on your forehead.

you stare back at your boyfriend and whisper, "you always manage to make me smile, love."

chan smiles when you notice when he’s feeling down and appreciates his humor when no one else does.
