Okey!

Well Periwinkle is one of my characters that doesn't have a lot of trauma, I hit the arc where I just wanted to make happy characters lol.

Periwinkle's parents are two doctors, and they are happily retired on their ranch where Periwinkle grew up. She grew up on a small island called the Isle of Heart. Her parents inspired her desire to understand magic and how it directly connects itself to the biology of magical creatures, and eventually she expanded into a history buff and also researches cultures! Peri does have a doctorate, and she's nearing her thirties.

Peri has a main adventuring group, which includes Jay, a pan rougue that knows his well way around guns. He causes trouble for her as much as helping. Periwinkle can handle herself, she just didn't want to focus it during her research, so she found and hired Jay.

Jay on two occasions with her current timeline, has insulted a monarch, hit on the second hand of a coven leader, and then also hit on the 2nd princess of Goblin Royalty.

Peri's current books are her first one, which covered Pegasi, her second on Giant Lion Ants, and her third which specially covered General Vampirism knowledge and studies of the Northern region vampire coven (I don't have an official name for them yet). She's editing her fourth book, on the southern Goblin Empire.

Which leads to her second main party member, Princess Ellipsis! She's the second child of the Emperor and had no interest in the throne, being a general and leading in battle was more of her interest. She decided traveling with Peri might be a nice idea to learn more tactics from other places. (These two like talking about the history of things, most often being battle tactics)

Periwinkle's one of the first people in her field of magical science to step outside and interact with species that are quote "unsafe" most of the others that have released books, only covered Unicorns and other smaller species. Periwinkle wanted none of that, she's determined to spread knowledge and stop fear of things others don't understand.

So unicorns in particular are silly. There are two main herds of unicorns, the "elite" and the Safe Herd. The "elite" make up the unicorns that fit the normal build of what people picture, white, sleek, majestic. Also pinks, purples, and rainbow, sometimes silver and gold.

If they don't fit that bill, then they are abandoned by the "elite" herd, so the safe herd was created. The safe herd has unicorns that look more like horses or are any unwanted colours, such as red or something.

Peri found an abandoned unicorn foal on a walk home after school one day during grade school. She took him home to the ranch and Snowcap (name's changed like 3 times) and her have been friends since. Snowcap is a grey dappled clysdale, and he's very pretty.

Snowcap lives on the ranch her parents now take care of full-time because of their retirement. They have a few teens that are stable hands and help out.

Peri loves her friends and her adventure mates. Everyone gets a free signed book whenever she releases a new one, no take backsies. She's invited a couple random adventurers she'd gone on a journey with in the past to join her full time. But they turned down so she sticks to being pen-pals. (She might ask peeps in the Eastern Dome, haven't decided yet!)

Hey you wanna talk about DND

I'm bored and like listening (reading In this case but shut) to my friends info dump

Always. What cha want me to I infodump about? :>

I got two options! Lyric or Periwinkle! Heck, I can go on a rant about Lyric's story that's not the one I've half scrambled together for Dnd. She's been my fixation this entire year! And they normally rotate every three lol!

Firbolgs my beloved, there is something great to me about them for home games because of this very thing! With no wizards of the coast canon you have a lot of freedom to define the culture your character grew up in (also wizards often has poorly written or straight up prejudiced race histories). Firbolgs are more defined by the fans who have played them then anything and those fans tend to love going over what their firbolg culture was like and sharing those traits.

For instance my firbolg lived small nomadic tribes till industrialization forced them to settle and are struggling to keep up there traditions while the world gets bigger around them. I told a friend that, now it’s on their home game and I stole their concept of an animal familiar ceremony and made it fit for me.

Basically I think firbolgs are a great example of community creating lore which creates community so one so forth.

If anyone ever wants my full firbolg lore doc I will give it you I love these fuckers.

Please I love her so much

so we know that like, Kristen's whole deal is religion and such, right? I'm just kinda thinking about the other Bad Kids and the Gods. Maybe it's my own multi-deity pagan ass just wanting to consider what it would look like. (I'm using primarily Forgotten Realms Gods and my absolutely vague knowledge of them).

This got long so read under the cut ;u;

Gorgug is absolutely Garl Glittergold's favorite child. He loves the shenanigans. Do you think he starts connecting with Gruumsh when he starts connecting with his birth parents? Baby Gorgug leaving bits of metal and toys he accidentally broke on the altar the Thistlesprings' have in their workshop. Gorgug pre-artificer offering up the songs he makes as a tricky sort of "metal" working. Feeling a connection to Gruumsh in the heats of his rage, the nudge of a hand during his frenzy guiding him to the right target. Keeping bits of scrap from their enemies to melt down into his next artificing project. He also probably talks to Helm, sometimes, asking for guidance on how to best protect his friends. Gorgug has big protector energy.

Adaine who is, in a way, a deity in her own right, depending how revered the Oracle is. I don't know if Adaine would connect with Elvish gods, but she and Oghma vibe. I think that after the Bad Kids all talk and bond, Kristen makes a joke about her being a Gruumsh follower with her furious fist and so Adaine jokingly buys a pin to wear in offering. Jawbone also had a talk with her about sometimes it can help to talk to someone about your anxiety--whether that be a counselor or even the Gods, sometimes. Just Adaine praying to Gruumsh to have the strength to punch her anxiety in the face is very beautiful to me. Azuth is the god of wizards, so he and Adaine might vibe. Adaine feels like the type to vibe with the Gods mostly in jest; she talks to them sometimes, but they're silly little guys to her. Because of Tracker and Jawbone's lycanthropy, I think she either has a small shrine to Galicaea or has the biggest beef with her imaginable. Maybe a little bit of both.

Riz. God. I think once Riz meets his Father, he definitely like, sets up a little shrine to him. Ancestor work feels really important to Riz. He dedicates a lot of self-care things to his dad, I think. Mainly sleeping and drinking water. Does he do them? No. But it's the thought that counts. Riz is definitely the like, mundane acts of worship. Incorporating it into miniscule parts of his day that would go undetected unless you knew him and where to look. He also probably has some devotional jewelry to Yondalla; I think that Penny probably had a habit of repeating prayers while touching the beads of her bracelet (kind of like a Rosary) and that rubbed off on him, especially when she was babysitting him. The whole family also probably have at least some sort of worship to Tyr due to their connection to justice and law enforcement. I think Sklonda is more connected with some of the deities associated with Goblins, specifically Gruumsh (can you tell I love him?) and Maglubiyet. He prays to war gods to get through the absolute shitshow of Adventuring school. He and Adaine probably dedicate their research to Oghma.

Fig is really interesting because I feel like she is probably in the vein of demon work instead of divinity. Although I think that she unironically thinks Riz's dad is super cool so like, playfully worships him. Fig is the Bad Kid that I feel like collects all the different pieces of her friends and wears them proudly upon herself. She dedicates concerts to Kristen's new deity of the week. She sighs and asks Oghma for help on exams; she includes prayers to Gruumsh in her tracks. I feel like Fig also might have a tendency to like, worship the people in her life. She thinks they're so important and she cares about them so much. So she elevates them to the status of a God in her mind. They are invincible. They are young and powerful and the bonds they share are much, much magical then some God who pretends to be high and mighty. Her body is an altar--she wears jewelry and draws sigils and uses so much color magick. She is, in a way, a walking beacon to the gods, saying, "Look at us! We're just as good as you, and if you doubt it, then we'll kick your ass!"

Fabian Seacaster my beloved. This man follows his Father's footsteps for a long time. He worships Gods of the tempest, of the sea and sailing. Yondalla holds a special place in his heart. Riz nearly has a conniption when Fabian corrects him on a prayer to Yondalla, and the two of them bond about it. But once this man starts dancing, this man worships Corellon Larethian with his whole chest. He does a lot of his worship through dancing. Moving his body, getting in touch with his roots. Because of the fire elemental, he also does some like, elemental magic? But I think a lot of his forms of worship come through bodily experiences. Braving a storm, dancing in front of a crowd, making just the right maneuver to protect his friends in battle. Sometimes he and Fig and Gorgug will sit together and make devotional playlists!

Yayyyy I love your game idea for BG3 city! If you’re taking asks, I’d love to read your thoughts about Gale’s school, the one he went to as a child. Maybe that’s where it was discovered he was a prodigy?

Maybe I’ll join in and tag you, too!

I'm sorry it took me so long to answer. I wanted to make it a fic, but then I realised I can only make a headcanon. And there will also be a lot of self-insert (because my school years felt like hell, I was happy to enter my Uni).

A little bit of lore first. As we know, Gale attended the Blackstaff Academy in Waterdeep (he says about it in the Arcane Tower). According to the Forgotten Realms Wiki and other sources Blackstaff is both a school and a university. Only the magically talented students are accepted as apprentices there, and they are at first taught by senior students (probably at the age of university students) and only after a few years they start being taught by professors. So future sorcerers and wizards spend more years in the Blackstaff tower than people do in school IRL. It's like a boarding school and a university campus combined, you can spend up to a couple of decades there.

We also know that Elminster first met Gale when the latter was 8 years old. Maybe it was the age Gale was accepted as an apprentice at Blackstaff. He was young, upset with his own abilities and very talented as a mage. Children at school can be pretty much evil, when it comes to relationships between them. I can picture Gale as a shy, naive person at first. Other children made fun of him both because they all thought they were talented and because he was always "lost in thought". They needed to call him twice or thrice to respond to them. Of course it annoyed everyone and made him an outsider. Maybe he was desperate to have a friend and prove himself in this community, so that he stole the Blackstaff (the staff of the very first headmaster, Khelben Blackstaff himself) and opened a portal to Limbo. /the story with the portal is also from the Arcane Tower dialogue/

In my view he only came to be respected by his peers when he reached the age when apprentices started receiving tutelage from professors and teaching the younger students. That's where, I think, Gale got his experience as a teacher (in the Weave scene he tells the character "I know" if they mention that he is a good teacher). I have a headcanon that his best friend from Blackstaff was a lesbian dragonborn, but she got jealous when he became the Chosen of Mystra, and they parted ways. But that character is only in my head.

We also know that Gale had romantic partners before Mystra. In my opinion he was good-natured, funny and handsome in his late teens and early twenties, and that made him a desirable goal for romance. He most probably liked the attention which he had thrived for in his childhood, so he had a lot of trysts and affairs with fellow Blackstaff apprentices of his age (of all genders and sexes, of course). Yet these romances were not meaningful enough for him to remember them and affect his life. His first serious long term affair was with Mystra, but I think it started after he graduated from Blackstaff.

Even when he was the centre of attention, he was still the weird guy envied for his talents and despised for his vast knowledge. He did not make any bond with his peers (or that bonds were shattered later on), so he had no anchor in the material plane to stop him from pursuing the Goddess of Magic.

That's what I can say on the subject right now. It's very self-indulgent (apart from the "centre of romantic attention" part), because I generally project a lot of myself in Gale. Nevertheless I hope it is interesting to read.
