Fire Emblem Warriors- leading to disappoinment?
I was reading and watching some more stuff about FE Warriors, and man, is it starting to disappoint me. So, a screenshot of the convoy showed no option for daggers. Which means we might not/ probably won't be getting any of the ninjas, or Jakob/Felicia... there goes my second main hope for the game out the window. And yes, just like every other FE game with a convoy, there are separate tabs for each type of weapon, including stones. We know we're getting young!Tiki- maybe Panne/Keaton/Kaden? It seems stupid to have a tab dedicated to a weapon only one character can weild. I say one because the characters are locked to their weapons, meaning Corrin fights with swords, not stones, and you know damn well we ain't getting Bantu. Another thing that just makes me groan in disgust is the devs' reason for giving not!Alphonse and not!Sharena swords, then complaining about there being too many sword users- it's so people who have never played an FE game before can learn the weapons triangle easier during the tutorial. Because figuring out a rock-paper-scissors based system is SOOOO terribly difficult. I'm sorry, but I can't respect game devs that think players are that fucking stupid. Pokemon is literally aimed at children, and even IT assumes three types aren't hard to remember. Nineteen playable characters have been revealed thus far, and only one from Shadow Dragon. At this rate, I sincerely doubt we'll even get Ceada; we've got three fliers, all girls, and two are even peg knights. My hopes of seeing Jakob are all but dashed, and now, I'm starting to doubt we'll even see characters like Ogma (so long, dreams of Frey and Norne...). Maybe we could get Cain and Able, but if I'm being honest, it seems more likely they'd fill those slots with Sully and Stahl. But honestly, the biggest disappointment is the announcement of the special edition. In japan, both the switch and new3ds are getting two special editions- a basic one with a few extra goodies, and a more expensive one with a MOTHER FUCKING DRAGONSTONE. I don't own a switch (fuck, I don't own a new3ds), but I was already making plans to forgo eating for a month to afford that fucking dragonstone. I rarely care about collectibles- the Fates special edition was the first and, up to this point, only piece of merchandise that left me with a physical sense of yearning. I want that god damn dragonstone so much... but it looks like the west is probably just getting the basic special edition. Why do I assume that? Because both special editions for japan were announced at the same time, and the Fire Emblem series has a bad case of No Export For You (bad enough you took out the skinshipping just to prove you could. I'm still waiting on the Fates scramble maps, you sons of bitches...). This game filled me with such hope when I first saw it, but little by little, that hope has been dying. Seeing that only the three newest games would get any attention, the bait-and-switch they pulled with fem!Robin, seeing no evidence that we'll get to use the cool new dagger weapons, them revealing a thot like Cordelia instead of Ceada, the atrocious VOs Camilla and Hinoka have (I hope those are just stand ins for the trailer, because if not, my god...)... I have one hope left for this game; that Gunther will be in it and voiced by DC Douglas as he was meant to be. That's the one glimmer of hype I still have for it. Some people don't mind their favorite character getting different VAs. Not me, not for this. A character's voice is as much a part of them as their face. If that one thing can happen, I'll probably get Wartiors. I won't be jumping to snatch a special edition, but I'll buy a copy of the game (eventually). I want a new console, and I'd like something to enjoy on it. If not, well, that's $60 I'll be saving for something less disappointing.
This is what we're NOT getting in the special edition in the west. Also, no art book. Oh, but we get a poster! And 3 CDs! Because no one on etsy sells posters, and you can't listen to soundtracks online. ...my hatred for Nintendo, and especially IntSys, is reaching unbearable levels. I GET that they're japanese companies, but why do they continuously have to give their western fanbase a giant middle finger like this? You might say, oh Silbur, it's too early to judge, we might still get a delux special-- no, fuck off. We're not. It's only being sold in certain, japan-only stores, and the news for all four SEs came out at the same time. They've finally announced the bare basic SE for the Switch in the west, and with no word even on the New3DS version, it makes it seem like we won't be getting that either. And even if we are, fuck it- I'm not scrambling to fight with scalplers over five SEs meant for the whole country. SPECIAL is not interchangable with LIMITED. Limited things ARE special, but special things don't have to be limited. If you're only making a hundred copies of something, then for the love of god, call it a LIMITED edition. They have people who speak english working for nintendo- there's no reason for them to not understand that! They wouldn't give us the scramble maps for Fates... or the skinshipping. And I know lots of people are glad they took it out- fuck all of those people; glad you're happy you get to pay as much for a cut up game as the japanese paid for a completed game. I hope Nintendo KEEPS removing shit from the games you like, since that seems to make it better in your opinion. For Echoes, they had special items you could get by connecting to a hotspot then going to 7-11... in japan. Because who the fuck ever heard of a 7-11 in a place like the states? Worthless, horrible characters are included in games based on their popularity in japan. The games that get the most recognition are the ones that the japanese like the best. Again, I KNOW IntSys and Nintendo are japanese companies, but they act like the western fanbase doesn't mean shit to them. Because, let's be honest- it doesn't. If it did, they wouldn't go out of their way to create scarcity like they do. I wonder if they'd change their tune if all the dollars and euros we're flooding them with suddenly dried up? Not that it'll ever happen- they know gamers are all little bitches. I'm too disgusted to even think about Warriors anymore. There is nothing that cash grab can do now to make it worth $60. Fans were so excited when it was first announced because it looked so damn amazing and had SO MUCH potential, but every single thing they've said and done thus far has just turned people off it more and more (at least, fans in the west. I'm sure japan is thrilled to see their favorite shit waifu and otoutos) It's wonderful that Warriors releasing right around the same time as games people are actually excited for, meaning that people who might've been on the fence are probably gonna say fuck it and save their money for Super Mario Odyssey. Me? I'm just gonna play ROMs of the old FE games, y'know, the ones I didn't pay them a fucking cent for meant for consols I didn't buy?

Nope. I still prefer Fates. Look at Camilla’s hair in the Warrior’s gif- it’s a solid, plastic mass. At least in Fates, there’s SOME semblance of fluididity. Warriors looks chunky and bland. Having seen what gamers are capable of, I bet fans could render better character models than that. I mean, I guess they tried?/10

So. Lyn is in Warriors, and everyone's creaming their jeans in delight. Except me, I guess. My jeans remain uncreamed. In fact, I've actually gone from kind of salty to sincerely angry. Nintendo and the devs did everything wrong when it came to marketing Warriors. First, "we don't want too many sword users, but look at our sword-lord OCs!" And the reason the Rin and Len use swords instead of, say, an axe and lance? Apparently, the devs think rock-paper-scissors is too hard to figure out unless you practice using rock first. You all know my gripe about the dragonstone... but really, the REAL reason Lyn being revealed makes me just hate this game? IF THEY WERE GOING TO INCLUDE CHARACTERS FROM EVERY GAME, WHY NOT JUST ADMIT THAT FROM THE START? When they said they were just focused on the last three games, I accepted that. Shit tons of fans didn't, and that's understandable, but they laid down a guideline and I said okay. Then, right around the corner from release, they say "lol, just kidding, of COURSE we're putting Lyn in, ee know she's a fan favorite and we're all about giving the fans what they want! (please buy our game...)" I don't care if she was in the game from the second development started- you said Shadow Dragon, Awakening and Fates. Holding out important information doesn't promote hype, it invites backlash. They could have just said "It's gonna have a lot of characters", and people would STILL be hype, trying to decide who has the best chance of getting in. Not this "we'll wait until we've alienated half our base, THEN tell them what they wanted to hear!" bullshit. Showing Lyn now just feels like a desperate attempt at damage control. I had a window of hype for Warriors, and it was shat all over. At this point, I don't give a rolling rimjob what tricks they pull out of their ass- I wouldn't get this game if they were giving it away.
Fire Emblem Warriors. I'm not even going to say anything about the roster (it's horrible, just awful, and you all know it), but I can say, without any doubt, that this is one of the ugliest games I've ever seen. The pre rendered cutscenes for this 2017 Switch game look worse than shit from the Gamecube. There are barely any physics, the shading and lighting are negligible, everything is stiff and ugly... Indie games are more visually appealing than this hot dumpster fire. And while it looks flashy, honestly, this gameplay looks like it would get boring in a matter of minutes. Considering the disproportionate amount of sword users, I don't know why they even bothered adding the weapon triangle. There are TWO archers... I just... I can't even. I mean... the remixes of the music from the base games is the only thing that even appeals to me. I'm glad they're showing how bad the game looks. I might have accidentally felt hype after Lyn and Celica were revealed if the whole game didn't look like it was made with really rushed MMD models.

Yup. It took two to three YEARS to finally start talking about my favorite game. All because I'm insecure as hell.
But screw it.
It took me forever to dedicate myself to working with this game again because I have such a short attention span
And yeah I know the leveling up is far from over
But level 100??
