first light being in the same album as i carrion (icarian) where he compares his lover to the sun and shows how he's willing to die and fall like icarus if it's for them, and first light as he said is about "having a new relationship with light" and showing that there is a diferent type of light out there and you can be light and the world can be light and you can be able to love and not fall for it, you can love alive and there is more ways of living than loving and after it you will never be the same but you are still alive, in this essay i will-
Almost every song on UU fucked me up; I was already crying after First Time. But to put First Light at the end????? Diabolical. Absolutely sobbing my eyes out and then having to sit in silence with all the feelings from all the previous songs + directly after having just heard one of the best songs Mr. Hoz has ever written.
That First Light being so easy and soft after having chased and hoped for it so desperately for so long. Finding pure joy and contentment in something so incredibly simple. When everything just suddenly feels right. And even though you won’t always be at that level of happiness, just that one perfect moment will make all the darkness down the line easier.
I won’t even mention the fucking harpsichord and the simply glorious backing vocals.
What the fuck, bro. Andrew Hozier-Byrne is my enemy number one for making me cry like that. Love him sm.
FIRST LIGHT!!!!????!??!!!!!??? the most beautiful ending dude. sounds like beginning. and change? a new day? dude it’s a massive vibe regardless. it sounds how sunrise feels. or the first day of a new year. or the first day of summer. and the intro is beautiful T^T and the vocals at the end?!!! the whole song gives me tingles

okay. i hope that wasn’t too much of a spoiler? basically rambling how the sounds feel lol. son of nyx has a special home in my heart. i already know this album is going to be my top listen for the year.
