TBH, I don't make a lot of fried food save for catfish, chicken, and such. A neighbor (and friend) has crawfish boils during the season and also deep fry their turkey at Thanksgiving, so this recipe has me intrigued enough I may need to form a collaboration just to check it out and see how the cakes taste. Driveway pumpkin spice funnel cakes! Danger and fire hazards with friends! (honestly, I think it is the camaraderie that emboldens us when we get together that overcomes the doubts about attempting stuff) When the weather breaks, of course. No way am I standing outside over a deep fryer right now. Melt my face off ala Indiana Jones.

I understand that about the kitchen adventures, though. I've had some spectacular fails. My SO is very pragmatic about it and usually quotes the wonderful line from Scent Of A Woman: "If you get tangled up, tango on" and so I do. Has made for some highly entertaining memories, some tearful ones, some rueful ones (the ones with $$$ ingredients), and some rather tasty ones that have since become favorites after a little lot more practice. Neither of us have the budget to spend on travel, so it's a way to feel luxurious and savor life w/o breaking the wallet.

Here's a toast to all things pumpkin and spice along with (hopefully) some cooler weather!

This pumpkin spice latte season, I will not be tolerating any PSL or Fall Joy slander. It's fine if you don't like them, but it's a fucking coffee drink that brings people joy. I don't care if you think it's "not real coffee", get off your high horse.

I'm sick of this environment that motherfuckers like you have cultivated where people are afraid to enjoy things for fear of being seen as "cringe".
