                Arms    wrap    around    the    nape    of    his    neck,    Richie's    face    BURIED    in    her    chest.    He    likes    hiding    from    the    world    sometimes,    it    doesn't    understand    him...    but    she    understands    him.    Holly    likes    to    think    she    understands    him    very    well,    though    the    reality    is    that    she    never    will.

                A    hand    comes    up    to    run    through    pomaded    hair,    cheek    leaning    against    the    top    of    his    head.    Movements    pause    as    Holly    holds    the    man    closer.    She    feels    as    if    she    lets    go,    he    might    disappear    from    her    again.

                It's    sudden.    Almost    like    a    freight    train,    and    Richie    can    hardly    wrap    his    head    around    it.    Physical    touch    isn't    his    favorite,    putting    up    a    front,    a    MASK    to    seem    normal    to    people.    Most    see    right    through    it.    They    know    he's    different,    and    they    look    at    him    funny    for    it.    But    not    her.    No.    Not    Lexi.    She    see's    right    through    the    fake    smiles    and    the    rambling    about    things    Seth    doesn't    give    a    fuck    about.

                Awkward    is    what    describes    him    best    when    it    comes    to    affection.    At    least    with    those    he's    not    sleeping    with.    It's    never    been    his    thing.    Strippers    and    hookers    had    always    been    Seth's.    Both    very    physical    hobbies...    Richie    had    always    been    more    inclined    in    reading,    television,    puzzles.    Bettering    himself,    if    you    ask    the    younger    Gecko.    Though    this...    it    doesn't    make    him    react    as    viscerally    as    it    would    have    were    it    anyone    else    other    than    his    brother.    Hostages    don't    count.

                He's    knocked    off    balance,    though    not    enough    to    land    him    on    his    ass.    Just    enough    to    stumble    back    onto    his    foot.    Hands    are    held    up,    as    if    he    was    defending    himself    from    the    oncoming    affection,    held    out    wide.    It    takes    a    moment    before    arms    wrap    around    her    waist,    face    wincing    as    if    it    was    painful.    But    it    wasn't...    it    felt    comforting.

                Finger    flips    page    after    page    of    the    book    she's    currently    got    her    nose    shoved    in,    hardly    paying    attention    to    the    dedicated    sipping    Hugo's    got    going    on.    Holly    can't    tell    the    difference,    not    when    she's    so    distracted    by    the    plot.    It's    a    good    book,    one    that    might    become    her    favorite.

                Finger    presses    to    ink    as    she    marks    the    spot    she    had    left    off,    eyes    following    Hugo's    own    gaze    to    see    the    fat    little    rat    waddling    about,    a    nice    fuzzy    sweater    wrapped    around    him.    It's    funny    to    see    the    little    box    sway    back    and    forth.    Book    mark    is    now    pressed    into    the    spine    of    the    book,    closing    it    and    setting    it    on    the    table.

                "    Why's    he    got    somethin'    for    me    ??    "    She    asks-    though    she's    sure    he    didn't    catch    that.    Holly    stands,    following    in    tow    as    Hugo    scrambles    for    the    rat,    and    in    a    sing    song    voice:    "    Traugoooootttt    !!    "

                Sapho    stained    lips    twitch    upwards,    eyes    flickering    white    for    just    a    moment.    As    if    she    had    to    calculate    it.    Everything    was    calculated    for    Holly.    It    was    in    her    nature,    having    been    trained    to    be    the    one    thing    she    could    not    become    from    a    very    young    age.    And    even    where    she    failed,    her    father    still    saw    potential    in    the    girl.

                Maybe    there    was    one    or    two    other    things,    the    Sapho    juice    is    really    what    got    her    through    the    mind    numbing    meetings,    the    dullness,    the    monotony    of    it    all...    though    the    thought    of    Chani    still    did    wonders    for    her.    Fuck    Paul,    fuck    Duncan,    fuck    Gurney    and    her    father    and    Stilgar    and    every    other    person    she    knew    on    this    god    forsaken    planet.    And    fuck    the    Sapho.    It    was    Chani.

                Hands    are    folded    together,    lips    pulled    into    a    tight    line    as    she    thinks,    all    color    in    her    eyes    disappearing.    Holly    isn't    calculating    this    time,    no    she's    just    thinking.    About    the    situation    they're    in,    about    the    sietch,    about    Arrakis...    it's    all    complicated,    and    how    their    relationship    is    going    to    last,    she's    not    sure.    Surely    Holly    would    be    kicked    out    permanently    of    the    government    mansion    for    this...    her    father    wouldn't    be    happy,    but    she    would    be.

                Chest    rises,    eyes    fidning    anything    other    than    his    eyes,    or    the    prying    eyes    from    the    other    side    of    the    sietch.    Holly    gets    it,    it's    extremely    rare    they    ever    have    any    outsiders    here.    Have    there    ever    been    any    at    all    ??    Perhaps    Duncan    Idaho,    he    had    been    the    only    one    in    who    knows    how    long.    She    doesn't    particularly    care    to    think    about    any    of    it    at    all.

                The    past    twenty-four    hours    had    been    hard    on    all    of    them...    Holly    hadn't    thought    that    the    Harkonnens    would    drive    them    out    of    their    home.    A    calculation    she    did    not    account    for.    God,    she's    so    stupid    for    not    even    seeing    it.    Had    she    of,    maybe    she    could    have    said    something,    maybe    Leto    would    still    be    alive    and    they'd    all    be    at    the    mansion    and    they    could    have    defended    themselves    and-
