Most of the stories I've read with isekai/transmigrators have been "I was an orphan anyway" and no thoughts about the things they miss, like cellphones, the internet... (Except that one How To Survive a Romance on WebToons, which was hilarious because fried chicken was the thing they decided to bring to their new fantasy world.)
Reed in Soulless Prince has been there 10 years but thoughts of Earth pop up occasionally still. His trauma from Earth is a big part of his personality. I learned a while ago that grief never really lets a person go, especially if they never took the time to process it.
What I Think About Isekai
So writing an Isekai I kinda have this whole thing in my head of what I plan on doing. Some of it falls into tropes. We got the classics 1. Gods grab a just died soul 2. Hi here is some possibly OP powers but with limits 3. Nothing is properly explained. 4. OK GO SAVE 5. Start collecting friends
But there are a lot of isekai that don't have the person really reflect on the world they lost. Mourn it or miss it or anything. Sometimes it's because they hated it so forget them right?
But today I wrote a scene that got Enoki all sad thinking about hir family. What ze will never see agian.
It hits a bit hard and in a way most isekai don't. I mean, can you imagine never seeing your loved ones and eating a meal with them? Hanging out with them? Holding your pets again?

remembering that octopus brains are donut shaped cause their esophagus goes thru the middle of their head and sometimes they die from brain damage from meal too big, and saying a long prayer before bed every night that if something like that happens to me i will be able to handle it gracefully
The plant of the GODS
Is daikon radish. Why? Because probably someone who got sent last time decided this was a good vegetable. Or maybe they kept talking about home and started claiming it all the land of the gods. Who knows what the last 'little chick' was like?
But they affected an entire culture thanks to that.
It kinda makes you wonder, what will Enoki's impact be? No better time to find out!
