A question- What happened to young Lord Maedhros during his 3 month stay with Lord Bauglir and his courtesan Mairon that made him sign away his father’s company when he returned home?
Or, a gothic horror au where Maedhros is snowed in over the winter and has to stay with Melkor and Mairon who hold a grudge over the actions of his recently deceased father.
Mairon Aulendil, the second born son of a renowned inventor who decided to seek his fortune by becoming a courtesan. Being well-educated and a skilled conversationalist he soon became well known among the upper-class. Rumour has it that he has blackmail on everyone, and this is the reason why his favourite sponsor, Lord Melkor Bauglir, has had such a successful political career. He’s also well known for training dogs, and has made more than one remark implying he uses this on...other things. Disliked Lord Feanor for rumours spread in the wake of his father’s death, and was notably cheerful when the Lord died in an ‘Arson attack’
So, an expansion on my Gothic au starting with Mairon. I’m getting far too invested in this ngl, so they’ll probably be more of it
Maedhros Finwion, the oldest son of the recently deceased Lord Feanor. Although he is a brilliant politician and businessman, he is far to kind and trusting for his own good, and often wishes to see the best in people. He is very...close with his cousin Fingon despite their father’s disagreements, and was often the peacekeeper within the family. He has recently inherited not only the quite considerable family fortune, but also his father’s new and very profitable textile mills and factories. He is aware that his father had a... rocky relationship with the Lord Bauglir, but doesn't quite understand just how bad it got in later years.

Maedhros is having a bad time
Lord Melkor Bauglir, an infamous politician known for his avarice. He looks exactly like his father…and his grandfather…and his great grandfather. He owns the country’s largest coal mines and steel refineries, and has attempted to pass several bills to cut down forests and other natural areas to expand. His workers have a tendancy to go…missing if they complain too much, and sometimes they can get lost for days in the shafts and come back different. He was once a reliable ally of Lord Feanor, but rumour has it they fell out over something Bauglir had found in his mines. And finally, rounding off the main characters with Melkor. You have no idea how hard it was for me to not just automatically make him lord of Sheffield for the Sheffield steel reference.
No-one knew how it started. A stray spark in the dining room, an upset lamp in library, a badly snuffed out cigar, an angry rival. But the results were the same. The house went up, with Lord Feanor inside. The curious thing however, was that Lord Feanor and his study were burnt to near ashes, but the rest of the house was not nearly as damaged.

Maedhros is having a bit of a breakdown
Fingon Anairion, Maedhros’ favourite cousin. A famous harpist and one of the only children of his brother Feanor can stand. A devoted and determined individual, he and Maedhros had many misadventures when they were young.
Feanor Finwion, father of Meadhros. He was a popular politician and a renowned inventor before his untimely death. It is said that no-one knows exactly how many secrets died with him.
Manwe Sulimo, brother of Melkor. Cursed with the unfortunate disfigurement of having his brothers face, he once held a high position within the church before leaving to marry Varda Elentari and have children. Writes often to his brother.

Decided I haven’t tortured Maedhros enough, so consider this what Mairon is imagining during the events of this

I absolutely do not have the energy to draw this out but fffff-
I gotta type this out right now or I’ll forget it
since various people are making Sam and Max gothic-ish alternate universes, I shall plop my idea for one here
• Jekyll and Hyde AU
This alternate universe would feature Sam as Jekyll/Hyde and Max as his partner/lab assistant. It would take place in London in the olden days. Max would be the one who created the experiment, and Sam tested it since he wants to take down thugs in street, and of course it ends in disaster. Sam develops a dangerous split personality, his Hyde. Max immediately realizes the danger he has created, and must find a way to free his dearest companion without causing harm to him. Meanwhile, Sam begins to crack under the pressure of having his own self taunt him and cause harm to the people he once called his acquaintances. Hyde Sam would be just as unhinged as a normal Hyde can be, but with an uncomfortable obsession with Max. For the endgame, I’m thinking either generic sad ending with Max ultimately having to take Sam out of his misery, taking Hyde with him or them finding a way to save him. Flint Paper could serve as a detective searching for Hyde but never realizing it’s his good friend Sam/Samuel. For the designs, typical victorian clothing. I imagine Sam in a fancy petticoat and his Hyde-self in typical cloak and hat but his fur is messy and he’s foaming at the mouth. Max would be in simpler clothing, but still clothed. Flint would be in black clothing, a detective that looks formal. I imagine this AU would work much better in the context of the Gothic Musical (because I love it to death) and I just love the thought of Sam with Anthony Warlow’s voice. Also the idea of Sam transforming into his Hyde self at his and Max’s wedding is perfect angst material.
Other characters such as Girl Stinky can be included. I can imagine she could fit in a role as a girl of the night, but perhaps a spy with Sal as her partner? Mama Bosco can fit in as an another scientist helping aid Sam and Max in their pursuit. Skunkape could possibly be a second antagonist, perhaps Jergen can fit in too?
With any context I guess any character can fit in there. I’m only the best at fitting ideas in short bursts, ha. I’m genuinely sorry if anyone else has had this idea as it’s a fairly common AU premise. But, I’ll hopefully come back to this post with some art but I’m terrible at drawing both Sam and Max so I will try to make it look…some what decent, haha. Until then, thank you for reading through my small idea, I greatly appreciate it.
