(Heart disease /is/ caused by fat, specifically saturated animal fats. And inflammation is also often caused by consuming animal products, as well as food high in salt, oil, and sugar. The connective tissue is also very important in body-wide health (to anybody reading this, I highly suggest you check out The MELT Method (created by Sue Hitzman))) But the amount of sleep you get is a huge huge factor in how your body functions and it's not talked about enough. Getting little to no sleep is laughed off, or even praised. As a person who has struggled with depression, insomnia, and also had to consistently wake up at 5:30 in the morning, sleep (or the lack of) is a huge part of my life, and I've been able to see firsthand how different amounts of sleep affect me.
I honestly believe the whole “adults require less sleep” thing is honest to god probably a myth created by capitalism

did you know that sugar doesn't cause diabetes? it's actually the butter and things in the sugary foods. cheese is horrible for you, and it's active in the same part of the brain as heroin. processed meats are a class one carcinogen, and eating foods high in fat (egg yolks, butter, anything processed, etc.) can clog veins in your brain and give you symptoms similar to alzheimer's. genetics don't actually hold that much influence over heart disease, cancer, and the like; it's mostly the foods you eat, which are influenced by what your parents eat. the medical system does so much to screw people over it's insane. i'm in canada and we have issues but the us is so much worse...
