Helen Of Troy - Tumblr Posts - Page 3

Different versions of the legend say that during the storming of Troy, Menelaus wanted to kill Helen, but she tore her clothes, exposing her breasts, and the murder attempt failed. Also, when Orestes came to kill Clytemnestra, she also undressed, telling how she fed him with these breasts.

Someone should write something where it's the Greek heroes from the Iliad watching odysseus during the odyssey from the afterlife. like achilles and company just being like yea fuck that guy up man. u got that. or he's crying over missing penelope and telemachus and they just feel bad for him or smth.

could also be them all listening/watching the epic songs/animatics 🦭

(even tho a lot of them don't die it's a fun idea in theory)

Helen And Cassandra (2018)

Helen and Cassandra (2018)

According to the myths and legends At the fringes of our memory Paris stole the queen of Sparta And carried her across the sea As they fled, he never dreamt That he held the world in his grip Helen, the face that launched a thousand ships Helen, the face that launched a thousand ships

From Mycenae comes Agamemnon And the Greeks of the city-states Laden with their bronzen weapons They're waiting at the Trojan Gates As the arrow flies and Achilles falls Does she raise the wind to her lips? Helen, the face that launched a thousand ships Helen, the face that launched a thousand ships

It's funny how the story lingers It's probably a myth of course A whisper in the ear of Homer Perhaps there never was a horse She could have turned the head of Paris With the gentle sway of her hips Helen, the face that launched a thousand ships

Oh Cassandra, what did you know You who bring bad news wherever you go You had the gift to see the future From Apollo so it's said And he made no one believe you When you would not share his bed Oh Cassandra, what did you see As you walked the lonely road of your certainty Gazing at the ruined city That your warnings could not save

Oh Cassandra, so still and so graveCassandra The Bronze Age kingdoms tumble The cities fade one by one The walls of Mycenae crumble The Dark Age has begun And the truth is lost in the ancient dust Yet the memory forever persists Of Helen, the face that launched a thousand ships Helen, the face that launched a thousand ships

Small wonder that Trojans and bronze-greaved Greeks have suffered for such a woman, she is so like an immortal goddess.

Happy international women’s day to all the problematic women in classical literature who have been vilified for thousands of years only for me to call them girlbosses

Lately people have realized/remembered that HW Link/LU Warriors is basically Helen of Troy. Which if you don’t know the story, Paris, a Trojan prince, came to Sparta to claim Helen, in the guise of a supposed diplomatic mission. Before this journey, Paris had been appointed by Zeus to judge the most beautiful goddess; Hera, Athena, or Aphrodite. In order to earn his favour, Aphrodite promised Paris the most beautiful woman in the world. Swayed by Aphrodite's offer, Paris chose her as the most beautiful of the goddesses, earning the wrath of Athena and Hera. Her kidnapping (depending on the version of the story) led to the Trojan War.

With people realizing this, it made me remember a headcanon I had for a Percy Jackson/LOZ/LU crossover that I will probably never write.

The headcanon? HW Link/LU Warriors is the demigod son of Aphrodite. Ironic and a bit karmic since he basically Helen of Troy.

Well have fun with this little headcanon of mine.

headcanon that odysseus and penelope were super competitive when they first met and super in denial about their feelings so them getting married was actually the worlds first game of chicken
