Cuddy definitely deserved better but to me it's a sign of how much he cared. He couldn't face the idea of Cuddy dying at all without drugs, because that's the worst possible thing that could happen to him. Wilson's death was relatively easier for him emotionally, albeit also devastating, which is why he was able to forego Vicodin for him.
But also, Cuddy has the right to drive trucks into House's apartment for karma reasons anyway
it's kind of crazy the difference between how house treats wilson when he thinks he's dying vs how house treated cuddy when he thought she was dying. cuddy seriously deserved better bc imagine you find out your ex boyfriend couldn't even see you sober and be there for you when you needed him but he faked his death and ran away with the guy he told you not to worry about. i would crash like 10 trucks into his apartment if i were her
Ohh how HUdSon had my heart right from the beginning.
the more I think about it the more I love the idea of House x Cuddy x Wilson, all three in a polycule together, bc like... it plays off perfectly for all three of them.
House gets to receive double the love he feels he's not made for, gets two people to actually trust and lean on, and Cuddy and Wilson hold each other back from enabling him.
Cuddy doesn't have to be 'superwoman' anymore, she has two... eccentric but loving partners to lean on and share the workload, and, let's be real, be convinced to take a break now and again. Especially after she gets Rachel!
And Wilson has two people that he trusts to show him that he matters, that they'll be there if he breaks down and he won't have to just pretend he's fine when he's not, that he's not alone.
And all three of them can cuddle together! It's perfect!
They're one of the best ot3s in fandom history because they just all work so well together, from chemistry to dynamics to personality, it all just meshes together for them perfectly.
