MORE CONGRATULATION

So six weeks ago this happened (I cannot for the life of me remember context):

And now - after six weeks of constant messaging, video chats so long our phones gave up before we did, and the most inept, ridiculous, blustering attempts at flirting known to humankind - I am so freaking proud and happy and excited and awed and amazed to say that neither of us belong in that club anymore.

@pannotbread was very brave and asked me to be her girlfriend and, after I'd finished blushing and stammering, I said yes 🥰

I am grateful to @maaikeatthefullmoon for recommending UTSS, because as soon as I read it I knew I had to talk to the person behind it: they wrote about love, loneliness and longing in the exact same way I did, it felt almost like reading my own heart in fragments. And then as soon as we started talking, we were writing essays, punctuated with "omg me too!" and "Yes, you get it!" - within days I knew I was, as my Crowley would say, utterly fucked.

Six weeks from being sure I was dying alone, to suddenly and completely unexpectedly feeling seen, understood, and cared for in ways that scrape me to the bone.

I adore this human with my whole heart and although we don't have an easy or conventional road ahead of us, I am just so freaking grateful for her, for her huge heart and bravery, her glorious bastard streak and delicious sense of humour, and a smile that never fails to knock me for six. It's more than I could ever have dared to hope for.

And, in related news, we might be working on a top secret project together, too... (also grateful for helping me find my joy in writing again)

For us at least, the nightingales are singing.
