Researching the Edwardian era for fic-writing purposes makes me so emotional because Charles is the exact opposite of who Edwin was supposed to end up with, right?
Edwin spent so long chafing under the standards of the Edwardian era only for him to stumble into some boy in an attic like:
"Hey, you don't like the idea of a marriage of convenience? You don't like the idea of marrying some faceless girl and spending out the rest of your days like everyone else until you die? Well here's this boy from a couple centuries in the future. He's a working class punk who absolutely cannot keep his hands to himself. He openly expresses his emotions in public and hates formality. He's loud and says crass things without an inch of shame and actively shits on social convention. He's biracial and has terrible posture and insists on wearing his collar down instead of pressed up like it's supposed to be. Not to mention, he's a dude. Every single inch of him seems tailor-made to go against Edwardian standards and oh, look at that. You're half-way obsessed already."
