mastodon being decentralized twitter and letting anyone host an instance is a great idea in theory, until instance owners start playing social politics with each other and blocking other instances wholesale, cutting users off from their friends unless they move

there's no real way to know which instances are "safe" unless you follow the discourse, which is exhausting and ever-changing

so users either get constantly displaced, or cut off from the rest of the fediverse

not even the main instance run by the creator of mastodon himself is safe, because it got too big for its britches or some other nonsense

(sorry i don't follow the drama enough to know the real reason, i have better things to do with my time)

you could argue this is due to a lack of useful moderation tools, but that argument only goes so far; there was a massive instance block campaign over an instance harboring one single user, not even a moderator – and there are definitely tools to block individual users

in summary, i don't think anyone expected mastodon would somehow make twitter-style social politics WORSE, but it sure succeeded

The cockney accent exists because way back then, the brittish lower class wanted to talk in a way that would ensure the cops would not know what they were talking about. Even more of a fun fact is that i am fairly certain that self censorship is the cockney accent of the internet. Stuff like "unalive" or "self yeet" are words that are there not to protect other people (we all know what you are referring to when you say "f%ck" ) but rather to stop the "no fun allowed" robots from harassing us and getting us banned. fun facts.

man, i want to talk about deep and intricate topics but people on the internet have this awful habit of assuming i don't know something just becasue i don't specifically mention it. so then i make an entire thesis addressing as much as i can and no one reads it becasue it is too long. u ghghghhhhh

why do some people dedicate all of their time to making and posting their weird fetish on a dedicated blog.

I know this sounds like an incriminating question but hear me out. I understand that some artists do it for commissions while others post nsfw every now and then for fun. that is not who I am talking about. no i am talking about those blogs where you click on "archive" and then all you see is 500 different unique pictures of vore. Why. why do you have the energy to think about this literally all the time. do you function in society ? are you chronically online or just mentally ill? both? usually i block those kinds of people because seeing my favorite character like... that makes me violently uncomfortable, so i have never personally TALKED to these kinds of people. does anyone have a theory as to what goes in the minds of these kinds of people ? do they have jobs and a real life ? ? ?
