Bright rays of sunlight peeked through the curtains of Beth’s room and Rick was awoken. The first thing he noticed was the empty bed. He remembered falling asleep while watching a movie with Beth, her small frame tucked in his arms lulling him into a peaceful state. But as he stirred, the absence of her warmth soon became very clear.
He groaned, conflicted by both his urges to one: stay in bed for the next century and two: search for his girlfriend. The latter won substantially, Rick knew he wouldn’t be able to fall back to sleep without the comfort of Beth. He haphazardly tossed off the blankets that shielded his body from the cold air in the Chapel house and made his way out of the room.
Rick was pleased to be met with the smell of food wafting in from the kitchen. He followed the scent and grinned as he saw Beth stacking pancakes onto a ceramic plate looking bright and awake as ever.
“Hey,” he greeted lowly, his voice still laced with traces of sleep.
Beth turned her head and smiled at the sleepy state of her boyfriend. “Good morning!” she greeted sweetly gliding over to him and quickly squeezing her arm around him before going past him and grabbing her coat off the rack. “I made you breakfast.” she supplied.
“I can see. Thank you.” Rick spoke, slowly moving towards the kitchen table.
“I would've stayed in bed longer but Court and Yolanda invited me over for the day so I had to get ready.” she explained. “Don’t worry though. My parents probably won’t be home til later tonight so you can stay as long as you like.” the girl smiled as she got her bag and walked over to Rick.
She placed a quick peck on his lips before pulling away and heading to the door. She was almost out the door when Rick heard her call out a quick, “I love you. See you later!” before closing the front door behind her.
Rick smiled once more at the adorable nature of his sweet girlfriend before finishing his breakfast and deciding to get himself ready for the day.

Prompt: Kissing Jungkook at a party because you miss each other.

Waiting
“He’s not here yet.” Namjoon said all too knowingly, handing you a water bottle as he plopped down next to you on the couch.
You took the bottle from him with a grateful nod, your cheeks growing warm.
“I don’t know who you’re talking about.” You lied, knowing full well who he meant.
Namjoon lifted an eyebrow.
“You haven’t left this spot since you arrived, you’ve been scanning the room nonstop, and your eyes shoot to the door every time someone walks in.” He argued. “You’re clearly waiting for someone, and you know we both know who.”
You sighed. There was no use pretending in front of Namjoon. He could obviously tell that, though the party was in full swing, your enjoyment of the evening was hindered by the feeling that something - or rather, someone - was missing. Dozens of people mingled about, dancing, chatting, laughing, and flirting, but the house just felt… empty without him there.
“He said he’d be here.” You confided in Namjoon. “And I haven’t seen him in so long... I guess I’m just a little anxious.”
Namjoon nodded, taking a swig of his drink.
“He’s missed you, too, you know.” He said after he swallowed.
Your eyes widened as you studied Namjoon’s face.
“He… missed me?”
“Of course,” Namjoon scoffed, “You’re all he talks about. Like, all he talks about. It’s been kind of annoying, actually.”
You continued to stare at him, but said nothing.
Seeing the incredulity plain on your face, Namjoon leaned forward, lowering his voice.
“Wait, do you not know?” He asked.
“Know what?” You replied reflexively.
Namjoon’s expression became a perfect combination of amusement and bemusement.
“Jungkook’s in love with you.” He stated as though it was obvious. “He’s crazy about you.”
Your lips parted, but no words escaped them for a long moment.
Finally, you shook your head, though you couldn’t deny the way Namjoon’s assertion made your heart race.
“No, that’s not… I don’t… I mean… How do you know? Did he say that?” You stuttered.
Namjoon chuckled, then leaned in closer, nearly whispering.
“Listen, you didn’t hear it from me, but I happen to know, for a fact, that if you were to make a move… Jungkook-ah would be yours in a heartbeat.”
You looked Namjoon in the eye, trying to decide if you believed him. You trusted his intent - he was always honest with you - but you weren’t sure if you trusted his judgement. As much as your heart ached for what he was saying to be true, maybe he was seeing something that wasn’t really there.
“If all that’s true - if Jungkook’s so in love with me - why has he never made a move?” You challenged. “I mean, if you can tell I like him, can’t he tell?”
Namjoon leaned back, slinging an arm across the back of the sofa.
“You know he’s too shy.” He shrugged a shoulder. “He doesn’t have a lot of experience with relationships. So if you want to be more than friends, he’s going to need you to be straightforward with him.”
You opened your mouth to respond, but froze when your phone in your hand chimed with an incoming message. You checked the screen compulsively, your attention instantly stolen from Namjoon and the rest of the party. And when you saw the message was from Jungkook, you immediately opened it, your heart in your throat.

“Is that Jungkook-ah?” Namjoon smirked as though he already knew that it was. He must have known from the way your face lit up.
You nodded, your smile growing.
“He said he’s almost here,” You informed Namjoon, rising to your feet, “So I’m going to go meet him outside. Is it alright if I talk to you later?”
Namjoon nodded, waving a hand dismissively.
“Don’t worry about me.” He grinned. “You just go get your man.”
“Thanks, Joonie, you’re the best!” You gave his hand a quick squeeze, then deftly wove your way through the sea of bodies in the room, quickly reaching the front door.
But as soon as you stepped outside and pulled the door closed behind you, you ran directly into another body.
“Oh, sorry, sorry!” You tensed up, your apologies spilling out automatically.
But then you felt strong hands gently grip your arms, and found yourself staring into a very familiar pair of large brown eyes.
“Whoa! It’s okay, it’s me!” Jungkook reassured you, a soft smile on his handsome face, and relief washed over you.
“Kookie!” You beamed, throwing your arms around his neck without hesitation, your excitement suddenly overflowing. “I’m so glad you’re here! I missed you so much!” You told him, giving him a squeeze, your heart thumping against his chest.
“I missed you, too.” He chuckled in your ear, and you leaned back to admire the way his smile reached his eyes.
Then the next thing you knew, you were pulling him down to place a peck on his lips.
Jungkook stiffened in your arms; his whole body went rigid and his lips felt like stone as you kissed them. You promptly pulled away to gauge his response, and his eyes were larger than you’d ever seen them.
“Sorry!” You exclaimed, a knot forming in your gut. “I’m so sorry! I don’t know what came over me! I’m just so happy to see you, and Namjoon said - well, he said you’re crazy about me too, and that I just needed to make a move - ”
You realized you were rambling as Jungkook’s hands cupped your face, and you cut yourself off to return his gaze.
To your pleasant surprise, he didn’t look stunned anymore, and his eyes were no longer so wide.
“You don’t have to be sorry.” Jungkook said, his thumbs kneading your cheeks. “I’m sorry I froze. I was just surprised.”
“It’s okay.” You gave a breathy laugh. “I surprised myself.”
Jungkook chuckled again, then looked you in the eyes.
“And I’m sorry I’m late, too. I didn't mean to keep you waiting... If I’d known this is how you were going to greet me, I would have driven much faster.”
You felt heat flood your body as he smiled in the way you adored, his nose scrunching and the corners of his eyes crinkling. Your face was still in his hands, and you were sure he could feel the warmth of your cheeks. You tried to formulate a response, but before you could say anything, Jungkook pulled you closer.
“Maybe we could try again?” He asked hopefully, awaiting your consent.
You smiled, nodding slightly, and a look of determined concentration wrinkled Jungkook’s brow as he tilted his head, searching for your mouth. Your pulse throbbed in anticipation as his nose bumped yours. Then when his lips found your lips, your heart seized as he tentatively touched them together.
Afraid your knees may give out beneath you, you clutched Jungkook tighter, your hands grasping the hair at the back of his head. Feeling you melt in his arms, he moved his hands from your cheeks to your waist, securing you against his toned body as he pressed his lips more firmly against yours.
“Remind me to thank Namjoon.” You murmured, laying your head on Jungkook’s chest when you both paused for air a few moments later.
“Remind me to thank Namjoon.” Jungkook replied, his breath shaky as he tucked your head under his chin.
You tightened your hold around his narrow waist.
“You know, he’s still inside. We could both thank him together, right now.” You suggested.
Jungkook hummed, wrapping his arms around your shoulders.
“Mmm, that’s okay. What do you say we get out of here instead? Just the two of us. I’m not really in the mood for a party tonight after all.”
You leaned back to look at Jungkook’s face.
“Unless you want to stay…” He trailed off, your expression making him uncertain.
“No,” You shook your head, “We can leave.”
“You sure?” Jungkook checked.
“I’m sure.” You nodded. “I don’t want to stay if you’re not staying.”
Another grin lit up Jungkook’s face.
“Yeah? And why’s that?”
You mirrored his adoring expression, stretching up to kiss his smiling lips again, and he eagerly met you halfway.
“Because,” You explained between kisses, “It wasn’t... much of a party... without you there.”

Prompt: Kissing Yoongi in the street because you miss each other.
Requested by @bucky-thorin-winchester

Autumn
With a half-empty cup of hot chocolate in one hand and your boyfriend’s hand in the other, you approached the intersection between the coffee shop and your apartment with a head full of swirling thoughts. The morning was cool despite the sunshine, and the once-green trees lining the sidewalk were now displaying every shade of red, yellow, and orange. Taking it all in had caused you to recognize how different your neighborhood looked compared to the last time you and Yoongi went out for drinks.
Only two weeks had passed, but the final remnants of summer had slipped away over the course of those days, giving way to crisp air and changing leaves. As much as you loved the autumntime, the changing of seasons always made you feel wistful, and thinking about how this change occurred while you and Yoongi were apart made your separation seem much longer than it had been.
Neither of you had chosen to be away from the other the last few weeks. Life - as it always does - just got in the way. You both had obligations that took you to opposite corners of the world, but that was nothing new. You’d weathered dozens of separations since becoming a couple, and you’d survived each time by keeping in touch as much and as often as possible. And because you loved and respected one another, your relationship always remained strong.
But that didn’t mean you didn’t miss each other. Sometimes more - much more - than others.
And though you were currently together, now felt like one of those times when you desperately missed your boyfriend. Your boyfriend - and his touch.
Yoongi looked back at you, lowering the straw in his iced coffee from his lips as he halted. You’d abruptly stopped walking, and your grip on his hand had held him back.
“What are you doing?” He asked, turning around to face you, his brows pulling together in confusion.
You closed the distance between you, leaning against his chest and lifting your chin.
“Kiss me.” You replied, hoping your words sounded more like a request than a demand. “Please.” You added as an afterthought, strengthening your appeal.
Yoongi’s expression remained tense, but he didn’t hesitate to lower his head. He gave you a quick peck, nearly missing your mouth and barely brushing your lips in his haste, and your stomach dropped in disappointment.
“No,” You pouted, letting go of his hand and grabbing the lapel of his jacket, “A real kiss.”
You hadn’t shared a passionate kiss since your last goodbye, and right now, that felt like a lifetime ago.
“Jagi,” Yoongi scoffed, his jaw slackening in disbelief, “We’re in the middle of the street.”
You paused, pulling your attention away from him and glancing around. Sure enough, you’d unknowingly stopped in the exact center of the road.
But there were no cars coming as far as the eye could see.
You returned your gaze to your boyfriend’s face, standing firm.
“I’m not moving from this spot until you kiss me, Min Yoongi.” You declared. “It’s been too long and I’ve missed you so much, and all I’m asking for is a real kiss. Not rushed, not sloppy. Just one good kiss.”
Yoongi sighed wearily, but his expression softened, and his shoulders relaxed.
“Okay. One kiss.” He reluctantly agreed, his perfect lips set in a pout, and you smiled triumphantly.
Then Yoongi leaned in, his free hand finding your waist, and your eyes fell shut as he carefully connected his mouth and yours.
For a long moment, neither of you made any moves. You only stood there, savoring the warmth of each other’s lips, sharing each other’s breath, and realizing you’d missed this even more than you thought. Then Yoongi shifted, tilting his head to adjust his angle, and his lips smoothed across yours for an instant before resuming their previous steady pressure. He didn’t deepen the kiss. He didn’t move his mouth against yours. He didn’t attempt to part your lips, or taste your tongue. He simply kissed you, and didn’t stop until you were both out of air.
When Yoongi finally leaned back, you were lightheaded, and you grasped his jacket tighter to steady yourself. Your body felt weightless, like you might float away if not for your boyfriend’s hold on you.
“Okay, we can go now.” You acquiesced, still breathless. “That was a good kiss."
You tried to take a shaky step, but Yoongi remained in place, blocking you. You gave him a questioning look, but he said nothing as he deftly took your cup from your hand and set both of your drinks on the pavement by your feet.
“What are you doing?” It was your turn to ask him.
Yoongi wrapped both of his arms around your waist, pulling you closer, securing you against him.
“Maybe one more kiss.” He exhaled as he once again claimed your lips with his.
But this time, he kissed you deeply.
And you eagerly reciprocated, pleased to find he missed your touch as much as you missed his.
You weren’t sure how long you stood there, kissing in the street; it was remarkably easy to lose track of time with Yoongi’s tongue sweeping through your mouth and his hands clutching you ever tighter. You might have been there for an hour, and you probably would have stayed there all afternoon... had the blaring of a horn not startled you both.
Tearing yourselves apart and opening your eyes, you saw a single car idling in the roadway, the driver impatiently waiting for you to move.
Yoongi waved at the motorist apologetically, then hastily tugged you across the street by the hand. You waved too, mouthing a “sorry” as you ran by, but you were sure the dazed smile on your face made you appear less than sincere.
As soon as you were safely on the sidewalk, the car revved its engine and sped through the intersection - plowing over your abandoned cups.
Your smile faded as you and Yoongi watched his iced coffee and your hot chocolate stream together, forming a sticky brown puddle on the pavement in the automobile's wake.
“Aish jagi, I’m sorry.” Yoongi frowned. “Do you want to go back to the coffee shop? I’ll buy you another drink.”
You shook your head, and your smile returned, a laugh bubbling up inside of you.
Losing yourself in a fit of giggles, you slid your hands inside Yoongi’s coat and hugged his waist.
“What’s so funny?” Yoongi asked, enveloping you in his arms.
You hid your face, nuzzling his warm neck.
“I’m not even mad about my drink.” You chuckled. “That kiss was so worth it.”
And as you pressed your lips to Yoongi’s skin, you felt his shoulders bounce as he laughed too, telling you without words that he completely agreed.

Fireside
“Um, excuse me?”
You looked up at the sound of a young man’s voice, but you knew who it was before you laid eyes on him. You regarded him with a kind expression and waited for him to continue, even though you were fairly certain you already knew why he’d approached you.
“I’m really sorry to bother you. Again.” He apologized, bowing his head. “But you wouldn’t happen to have a ladle we could borrow, do you?”
You smiled to yourself as you rose from your chair, leaving the fireside to find the requested item amidst your cooking supplies.
“Anything else you need while you’re here?” You checked, digging through a bag of utensils.
The man chuckled.
“No, we’re good. I think we have everything we need now.”
But that’s what he said the last time, when he’d needed some aluminum foil. And the time before that, when he’d asked to borrow some paper towels. And the time before that, when he’d come in search of a spare garbage bag.
“Right. Sure. If you say so. But you know,” You said, locating a ladle and moving to meet him at the edge of your campsite, “I’m starting to think you’ve just been making up excuses to come talk to me.”
The young man’s eyes widened slightly, his dimples showing as he failed to suppress a shy smile.
“Oh?” He asked, grasping the handle you held out to him.
“That, or you and your friends have never been camping before and had no idea what to bring.” You shrugged.
“Believe it or not, it’s not our first time,” He admitted, “But you’re right. We’re not as prepared as we should be. It’s my fault, though. I should have made sure we had everything we needed before we came.”
You glanced over his shoulder and through the pitch black woods to his campsite. His six companions were circled around the fire, chatting animatedly. From what you could tell, they were all right around the same age.
“Why is it your responsibility? Are you their scout leader or something?” You joked.
He laughed more heartily than you expected.
“Something like that.” He grinned, and his dimples deepened. The sight made your tummy flutter.
You had to admit, he really was very cute. But you’d noticed that before he’d even approached you.
As soon as the seven boys had arrived at the campsite neighboring yours, the tall one with the rich complexion caught your eye. They were all exceptionally good-looking, but there was just something about the way this one carried himself. You couldn’t help but sneak glances at him all afternoon as they set up camp, admiring him from a far and secretly hoping for an opportunity to meet him. Then, almost as if he’d read your mind, he’d wandered over to your site to ask for help, and you’d found he was even more handsome up-close.
And right now, with his face glowing in the warm light of the fire and the flames reflecting in his dark eyes, he appeared more attractive than ever.
“You know, you never told me your name.” You pointed out, relaxing your stance.
His eyebrows raised.
“I didn’t? Oh, I’m so sorry, please excuse me.” He fumbled to switch the ladle to his left hand, then extended his right hand towards you. “I’m Namjoon.” He introduced himself with another dimpled smile.
You took his offered hand.
“Nice to meet you, Namjoon.” You returned his smile, telling him your name.
You expected him to let go of your hand quickly, but he held onto you for a moment longer than necessary.
“Nice to meet you, too.” He replied, his tone smooth, and your tummy fluttered again.
“Well, now that we’re acquainted, feel free to stop by again. Anytime.” You cleared your throat, reluctantly slipping your fingers from Namjoon’s strong grasp. “You know, if you think of anything else you need.”
Namjoon nodded, his expression shy again.
“I appreciate that, thank you. I’m sure I’ll think of something.” He said, a twinkle in his eye as he turned back towards his own camp. “Thanks again for the ladle.” He added, glancing back over his shoulder as he made his way through the dark.
And as you watched Namjoon until he rejoined his friends, something told you that you hadn’t seen the last of him tonight.
So when he showed up a while later - after most of his friends had retired to their tents - with a bottle of wine asking to borrow two cups to share it with you, you were pleased, but not surprised.
You had accepted the bottle gratefully, and after you found some plastic cups, you’d invited Namjoon to join you by the fire. He’d sat close to you in the chair you had placed right next to yours in anticipation of his return, and began asking you about yourself as soon as you were both settled with drinks in-hand. The conversation had flowed naturally - and enjoyably - from there.
A couple hours that felt like minutes later, you felt you’d come to know Namjoon pretty well. You’d taken turns asking and answering countless questions, and the more you learned about him, the more impressed you were, both with his character and his outlook on life. And Namjoon seemed to be just as impressed with you.
“I still think it’s admirable, what you do.” He said, watching the crackling campfire.
When he’d asked why you were camping by yourself, you’d told Namjoon how you ran a nature blog, and often went on excursions to produce content. He’d responded enthusiastically, saying he was a nature-lover too, and when you explained that one of the main purposes of your blog was to raise funds for conservational efforts, he had practically been in awe.
“The way you care about something bigger than yourself, and how you take action… I admire you. I really do.” Namjoon continued, looking away from the flames to regard you with eyes full of sincerity.
You felt your face flush under his gaze.
“Thanks,” You replied meekly, “But I could say the same thing about you.”
Earlier in your conversation, you’d learned to your amusement that you weren’t that far off when you’d joked about Namjoon being a scout leader. He was the leader of his group - a musical group whose name translated to Bulletproof Boy Scouts.
He’d told you all about their experiences through the years, how they overcame the odds to become more successful than they ever dreamed, and you were amazed by his obvious leadership skills and the tight bond he’d helped form between his members.
“I think it’s admirable how you never give up, and how you’ve earned such respect. And yet you seem so humble… I really admire you.” You elaborated, and Namjoon’s face glowed even brighter in the firelight.
He didn’t say anything, though, and you felt the silence growing heavy with expectancy. For a long moment, you only looked at each other, your gazes exuding all the admiration you’d just confessed as the logs in the firepit continued to pop and hiss.
Finally, Namjoon spoke, angling himself in his chair so that his knee brushed yours. The contact was like a spark igniting between you.
“I know I’ve asked you for a lot of things today,” Namjoon leaned forward, his voice low, “But could I make just one more request?”
“Of course.” You responded automatically, and a faint smile reached Namjoon’s eyes. “What do you need?”
Namjoon moved closer still, and you felt some magnetic force compelling you to lean in too, until there was barely any space left between you.
“I was just wondering…” He ventured, his gaze capturing yours, “At the risk of being too forward… If I could ask... to borrow a kiss?”
Your breath caught. The thought had definitely crossed your mind, but you had not been expecting anything to actually happen tonight.
Namjoon noticed your hesitation, and his confidence seemed to waver.
“I mean, I know we just met,” He said in a rushed whisper, “But I think we’ve gotten to know each other fairly well and you’re unlike anyone I’ve met before and - correct me if I’m wrong - but I feel like we’ve made a connection and - ”
“Namjoon.” You interrupted him, finding his hand and grasping it in your lap.
He immediately froze.
“It’s okay.” You assured him. “You’re not wrong.”
Namjoon blinked, then quickly recovered.
“So is that a yes?” He lifted one eyebrow. “Can I kiss you?”
You only smiled softly, your heart thrumming beneath your ribs, but that was enough of an answer for him.
Taking hold of your chin with his first finger and thumb, he gently pulled you towards him as he tilted his head, and his warm breath tickled your lips just before he found your mouth.
A warm, cozy feeling that had nothing to do with sitting by the fire filled you as Namjoon pressed his soft lips to yours. You took a deep breath as you kissed him back, and one of your hands instinctively searched out his face, your fingers smoothing across his satin skin. His own fingers caressed your jawline as his mouth maintained its delicate pressure.
Then all too soon, Namjoon leaned back, biting his bottom lip. You touched your own lips with your fingertips, your eyes examining his.
Other than being entirely too brief, it had been a perfect first kiss. Namjoon had been exceptionally tender and respectful while conveying his affection and desire, and the pleasurable warmth he’d elicited still enveloped you.
“Was that okay?” He wondered, genuine concern in his tone.
“More than okay.” You assured him, your pulse throbbing, and a relieved smile blossomed on Namjoon’s face. “I’m just a little confused about one thing, though.” You added, your fingers still touching your mouth.
Namjoon waited for you to continue, his forehead wrinkling.
“You asked to ‘borrow’ a kiss… Does that mean you intend to return the favor?”
Namjoon laughed, ducking his head.
“Yeah, of course.” He chuckled, looking back up at you. “It would be my pleasure.”
“Okay… good.” You smiled, leaning towards him again, your heart in your throat.
He bent his neck to meet you halfway, fire once again flashing in his dark eyes.
And as your own eyes fell shut, he murmured against your waiting lips.
“Feel free to borrow a kiss from me… anytime.”

Prompt: Kissing Namjoon in a vehicle to say hello.

Reunion
Incheon International was as busy as ever, but the sight of the bustling crowds was oddly comforting. Though an entire season had passed and the whole world had been turned on its head since the last time you were in Seoul, nothing in this airport had changed. Everything from the floor to the ceiling felt familiar, giving you the sense that time stood still here. And somehow, that made the past months feel like less of a loss.
But the comfort you felt the moment you stepped off the plane and into the terminal did not in any way diminish your excitement - nor your urgency. So you didn’t waste much time being nostalgic, and made your way through the airport swiftly and with determination.
Because the quicker you fetched your luggage and met your ride, the sooner you’d be reunited with him. And though in some ways it didn’t feel like it, it had in reality been far too long since you’d seen Kim Namjoon.
While standing on the curb outside baggage claim waiting for the car Namjoon sent for you, you readjusted your facemask and recalled the last night you had spent together.
You’d been edging closer to the line between friendship and something more for a while, but you’d never really discussed your feelings, and neither of you had made any actual moves. Until that night.
After a long evening of deep conversation and a few drinks, Namjoon bid you goodnight - as he often did - with a small kiss placed carefully on your cheek. But this time, his lips lingered on your skin, until you both instinctively turned your faces, and his mouth found yours.
He’d only kissed you for half a second, but it was enough. It was enough to set your heart racing, and your mind reeling.
You’d left Seoul the next morning, with every intention of returning soon to - hopefully - figure things out with Namjoon, but the onset of a global pandemic derailed all your plans.
Over the next few months, you and Namjoon communicated frequently, despite being halfway across the world from each other, quarantined in your own countries. And though you would have much rather talked in person, you eventually discussed the night you kissed.
It was an awkward conversation, made even more awkward over the phone, but you both felt better after having it. You agreed the kiss had been unexpected and spontaneous, but you also agreed that neither of you regretted it. Namjoon confessed to feeling things for you for quite some time, and you admitted the same. But with the future being so uncertain, you were both reluctant to make any kind of commitment to one another. At least, not until you were together again, and had the chance to properly explore your feelings. So, you maintained your friendship and left things open-ended, with a hope that - once you were finally reunited - something more might develop between you.
Now finally, here you were, about to see each other again after so long, and as a shiny black town car pulled up in front of you, the anticipation became almost too much to bear. Just a few more minutes. Just one car ride, and you’d be with Namjoon. Regardless of where your relationship went from here, all you knew was you could hardly wait to throw your arms around him.
The masked driver opened the trunk as soon as he parked, and quickly came around the car to take your suitcase. He then opened the back door and gestured with a bow for you to make yourself comfortable while he loaded the luggage. You gave him a grateful nod as you moved to climb in, but as soon as you sank onto the leather seat, you noticed another person already sitting in the car.
The young man’s face was mostly covered by a black mask, but you would recognize his eye smile anywhere.
“Namjoon!” You exclaimed, not waiting for confirmation before lunging across the seat.
He caught you easily as you collided with him, and wrapped his arms around you as you hugged his neck with all your might.
“I guess we’re not practicing social distancing anymore.” Namjoon chuckled, his hands on your back holding you tight.
“I didn’t travel thousands of miles to stop six feet short.” You quipped, combing your fingers through the hair on the back of his head.
Your pulse was pounding, throbbing in your veins. You could not be more surprised - nor pleased - to have found Namjoon waiting for you in the backseat of the car. Being in his strong arms, touching his warm skin and soft hair, inhaling his intoxicating cologne, hearing his smooth voice, feeling his heart beating fast against your chest… Felt so good. It had been a long time since you’d been close to anyone, but the fact that it was Namjoon made the experience even better, because you’d missed him especially. And now that you were with him, you never wanted to be separated again.
You leaned back to look at Namjoon as the driver closed the trunk and reclaimed his post behind the steering wheel. When the car pulled away from the curb and headed out from the airport, Namjoon’s hands moved toward your face.
“May I?” He asked, his eyebrows lifting questioningly as his fingers gently hooked beneath the loops of your facemask.
You nodded slightly, and Namjoon’s hidden smile shone in his eyes again as he carefully removed the cloth covering your nose and mouth. He then drank in the sight of you, and you felt yourself growing warm under the heat of his gaze.
“I almost forgot how beautiful you are.” He said reverently, barely touching his fingertips to your bottom lip. “Almost.”
Your mouth fell open as you attempted to pull in a breath. You couldn’t stop your own fingers from reaching out and pulling Namjoon’s mask down under his chin, exposing his dimpled cheeks and enticing mouth.
“Well, hello.” He flashed his perfect teeth as you admired his handsome face. “Long time, no see.”
You returned his grin, feeling your blood reach its boiling point, and you made a hasty decision. Choosing to act on impulse, you quickly pulled Namjoon’s face toward you and lowered his mouth onto yours.
Namjoon inhaled sharply; he was clearly surprised, but not unreceptive. He returned your affection without hesitation and without restraint, promptly taking charge. Clutching your face with both hands, he pressed firm kisses to your lips, again and again, until you parted them, allowing him to taste you.
You grasped the hair behind his head again, tugging Namjoon closer. Deepening the kiss further, you savored everything he made you feel - physically and emotionally. Your first kiss - if you could even call it that now - paled in comparison; this kiss was so much better in every conceivable way.
As soon as you were sufficiently breathless, Namjoon pulled away, but his hands still cupped your cheeks. He wore a satisfied smirk as he waited for you to say something.
“Hello to you, too.” You finally exhaled, your heartbeat erratic, and Namjoon laughed.
“I have to admit, when I decided to come pick you up instead of waiting for you to arrive…” Namjoon slid his fingers down your arms to find your hands, his eyes becoming crescents as he smiled, “That was exactly the greeting I was hoping for.”
It was your turn to chuckle.
“So does that mean we’re more than friends now?” You asked hopefully, tangling your fingers together.
“I don’t think we were ever just friends,” Namjoon replied, “Not really. But if you’re asking if I want to be with you… Then the answer is ‘yes’. I’ve done a lot of thinking this summer, and if quarantine has shown me anything, it’s that I don’t ever want to be without you again.”
Hearing Namjoon’s confession, you were immediately overwhelmed by more happiness than you’d felt in months.
“I feel the same way. I don’t ever want to say goodbye again.” You beamed. “Although,” You added, teasing, “If we don’t ever say ‘goodbye’, that means no more ‘hello’s.”
Namjoon raised an eyebrow.
“Mmm, I don’t think that’s true.” He disagreed. “I think we can - and should - say ‘hello’ whenever we want.”
You laughed again.
“Okay, well in that case,” You smiled sweetly up at him, “Joonie?”
“Yes?” He grinned back.
You leaned in closer, inclining your face.
“Hi.” You said pointedly, only a breath away from him.
Namjoon smirked again.
“Hello.” He returned your greeting, lifting your chin with one finger, and your eyes fell shut just as he placed another kiss on your flushed lips.

Warning(s): A non-graphic near-death experience.
Author’s Note: This is one of several stories inspired by these kissing story prompts. This is also probably the angstiest thing I’ve ever written, but I took a slightly different approach to “life-or-death” so things didn’t get too dark or dramatic. Anyway, I hope you enjoy! 💕
Prompt: Kissing Hoseok in the rain because the situation is life-or-death.

Never
It was a stupid argument. You knew it was stupid, and you knew it was stupid to be so angry. But you were. Angry and stupid. And wet.
Cold raindrops mixed with the hot teardrops on your face, making tracks down your cheeks, and no matter how many times you wiped your eyes, more rain and tears fell.
You were chilly, too. The night was dark and the air was cool and the rain was icy. And you were soaked to the skin.
It was stupid to be so angry, but it had been even stupider to think you could walk home.
In your defense, it wasn’t raining when you stormed out Hoseok’s door. But now the rain was unrelenting.
Water streamed down the sidewalk, flowing around your feet and into a storm drain in a noisy rush. Scowling and tugging your dripping coat tighter, you sought shelter in the doorway of a storefront, but it wasn’t quite deep enough. You flattened yourself against the door, but errant raindrops still reached you.
Watching the rain continue to sheet down, the thought occurred to you to call Hoseok. He was the last person you wanted to call right now, but it was late, and you didn’t know who else you could ask for help. The streets were deserted, businesses were closed, and all your other friends were probably asleep.
You fetched your phone from your pocket and opened a rideshare app, hoping as you did that the device would prove to be waterproof as advertised. With trembling fingers, you searched for a ride, but there were no drivers anywhere nearby. By the time a car could pick you up, you could walk the rest of the way home.
The speed dial button to call Hoseok seemed to glow brighter on your phone screen as you stared at it. But you weren’t ready to admit defeat yet. Your anger was still too hot, and you didn’t want to give Hoseok the satisfaction. Besides, you were both so worked up when you left, you doubted he would answer even if you did try to call him.
With a bitter sigh, you stowed your phone, and stepped back out onto the walkway, resigned. The rain that immediately pelted you felt even more frigid than before, but you ducked your head and hugged your shoulders, left with no other option than to press on.
As you walked, the cold seemed to seep into your bones, and once again you thought about calling Hoseok. You tried holding onto your pride, recalling every little detail of your argument in an attempt to warm yourself by fanning the flames of your anger, but your temper was cooling as fast as your temperature.
The further you sloshed along, the stupider everything seemed. Your angry tears soon became sad, miserable tears, and you quickly decided you didn’t want to be mad anymore. You just wanted to be dry and warm. And home, with Hoseok.
Reaching a covered bus stop, you plopped onto the wet bench and pulled your phone out again. Mercifully, it was still working, but when you started to call Hoseok, you hesitated, your finger hovering over the dial button. You’d calmed down, but what if he hadn’t? What if he was still upset with you? You were sure walking out on him in the middle of the fight had only made him angrier.
A gust of wind blew as you sat vacillating, and you shivered. Looking up, you noticed the rainwater was starting to flood the streets, and worry and fear began to well up inside you. Your predicament wasn’t merely stupid anymore - it was rapidly growing dangerous.
Still shivering, you lifted your phone with your mind made up. You couldn’t keep walking, and you couldn’t stay here. You had to call Hoseok. But before you could even dial his number, your boyfriend’s face lit up the screen. Relief washed over you, and you immediately accepted the call.
“Hobi!” You gasped, cupping the phone to your ear to hear him over the storm.
“Are you home?” He asked brusquely, obviously still mad.
“N-no.” You replied through chattering teeth.
There was a pause, then Hoseok’s tone changed.
“What’s all that noise? Are you - are you outside? Tell me you’re not outside in this weather.”
“I t-tried to w-w-walk home.” You shuddered, the wind picking up around you.
“You tried to what?!” Hoseok exclaimed, quickly getting worked up again. “You’re outside walking?! It’s pouring out! What were you thinking, are you trying to freeze to death?! Aish jagi, I thought you ordered a ride, if I’d known you were - You should have called me, why didn’t you call me?!”
More tears gathered in your eyes, and started spilling down your cold, wet cheeks.
“Hobi, please.” You plead, unable to stop shaking, and a sob escaped you. “I need your help.”
“Where are you?” Hoseok demanded, and you thought you heard the jingle of car keys.
“The b-bus s-stop in front of the b-b-bank.”
You could tell Hoseok was hurrying out of his apartment and towards his car.
“Listen to me, jagi, stay right where you are,” He told you, his voice firm, “I’m on my way. I’ll be right there.”
It was less than five minutes before you saw bright headlights beaming through the rain, but in those minutes you felt yourself slowly freezing, more and more by the second. Eventually, you grew so numb you didn’t even feel the cold anymore - or your fingers or toes. But you still shivered violently, your teeth clenched so hard your jaw ached. By the time you recognized Hoseok’s car approaching, you didn’t even have the strength to be relieved.
Hoseok’s tires cut tracks through the flood waters as he pulled up to the curb in front of you, and the second he was parked, he flung open his door and began running. Splashing water with every footfall, he reached you in two heartbeats, and threw his arms around your thrashing frame.
“There you are!” He cried, crushing you against his chest, and his body heat hit you like a surging wave.
Hoseok held you tight in his strong arms, attempting to keep you still. His cheek was flush with yours as he held you, and the temperature of your skin shocked him.
“Jagi, you’re like ice!” He leaned back, taking your head in his hands. “What were you thinking?” He asked again, but this time there was absolutely no indignation in his tone as he hastily began kissing all over your slick face. “You could have hypothermia, you could have frozen to death.” He lamented, his eyes red with tears as he pressed his warm lips to your forehead, your cheeks, your nose, your chin, and between your eyes. “Do you know how scared I was?” He was growing frantic now, his voice getting louder and higher. “Why didn’t you call me?!”
“I was m-m-mad at you,” You answered feebly, barely above a whisper, “and y-you were mad at me.”
Hoseok paused to look you in the eye, his own eyes flashing sternly as he grasped your face.
“Jagiya, look at me.” He commanded, and you groggily met his piercing gaze. “Now listen. I will never be too mad to help you. Ever. Do you understand?”
You nodded weakly, and Hoseok gave a curt nod back. Then his expression melted, promptly returning to one of heartfelt concern. With sudden urgency, he bent to touch his lips to yours, and as he kissed you gently, your heart began to thaw.
“Now come on, we have to get you warm.” Hoseok huffed, breaking the kiss. He didn’t wait for a reply before he swept you up into his arms.
You curled into his chest as he dashed back out through the rain to his waiting car, where he deposited you in the passenger’s seat before running around to climb in behind the steering wheel. When Hoseok was settled, he cranked up the heater first thing, and blessed hot air blew forcefully through the vents.
“What do you say we get you home and out of those wet clothes? How does cuddling under a fluffy blanket with a cup of hot chocolate sound?” Hoseok asked, shifting the car into drive before finding your hand and taking it. “Maybe after a hot bath?” He added, pulling back out onto the road, his windshield wipers rapidly streaking back and forth.
You gave another small nod, and regarded Hoseok’s face, your clothes dripping steadily onto his floor mats. He sniffed as you watched him drive, his eyes never leaving the road as he wiped leftover tears from beneath them. You could tell he was trying to be brave - for you.
“Take your coat off.” Hoseok instructed you as he headed back towards his apartment. “And hold your hands out in front of the air vents.”
You did as you were told, and by the time you were parked in his garage, you’d regained feeling in your limbs. You were still soaked, but you were no longer freezing, and had finally stopped shivering.
“I’m so sorry, Hobi,” You spoke up, your voice now much steadier, “For everything. I’m sorry for arguing with you, I’m sorry for storming out and for worrying you, I’m sorry you had to come rescue me… And I’m sorry I didn’t call you sooner.”
Hoseok pressed his mouth into a tight line, his dimples showing. He didn’t look at you.
“I know, jagi.” He sighed. “I’m sorry, too. I shouldn’t have gotten so upset. And I never should have let you walk out the door. I should have gone after you right away.” He shook his head, sniffing again. “You could have died, jagi. You do realize that, don’t you?”
Hoseok turned to look at you, and you felt small under his gaze. But he wasn’t glaring at you; his expression was pained.
“If something had happened to you, I could never forgive myself.” He let out a shaky breath. “I can’t lose you, jagi.”
You reached for Hoseok’s hand, and squeezed his fingers.
“Let’s never fight again.” You suggested, and the faintest smile tugged at the corner of Hoseok’s mouth.
“No more fighting.” He agreed, kissing your fingers. “It’s a deal.”
“I love you, Hoseok.” You managed to give a small smile back, warm blood finally reaching your cheeks.
“I love you, jagi,” Hoseok said, “Forever and always. No matter what.”
He then looked you straight in the eye again, and the love radiating from him was a palpable heat.
“You could never do anything that would make me stop loving you.” He added, gently moving a dripping strand of hair from your face. “Never forget that.”
Feeling warmed to your core, you shook your head and promised:
“Never again.”

Deeper
Standing on the seashore with your toes sinking into the wet sand, you felt like you were balanced on the edge of a precipice. If you took a step forward, everything would change. One step forward, and you would fall. And if you fell, you would eventually land. There was a significant chance the landing would be hard, that it would break you into a million pieces. But there was also a chance that someone would catch you. He was just waiting for you to take that step.
“Are you coming? Or are you going to stand on the beach all day?” Jimin called back to you, already waist-deep in the lapping water. Sunlight reflected off the water droplets on his shirtless, toned back, giving the impression that he was shimmering.
Sighing, you grasped the hem of your coverup and pulled it up over your head. Tossing your garment aside, you lingered at the water’s edge in your swimsuit, still trying to decide what to do.
Jimin was up to his chest now, and was turned around to face you. His eyes were narrowed against the bright sun, but you could tell he was observing you carefully. His penetrating gaze made you feel naked and exposed - body and soul.
With a deep breath, you made up your mind, and took one step forward.
The clear seawater swelled around your ankles, pleasantly cool and refreshing, and you looked up to find Jimin smiling encouragingly at you. So you took another step. And another, wading further and further into the aquamarine depths, hoping with each step that you were in for a soft landing - and that you hadn’t just made a devastating mistake.
As you drew near to Jimin, he paddled toward you, meeting you halfway.
“Everything all right?” He asked, still wearing a smile, but there was a hint of amusement behind it now.
You nodded insincerely, your toes barely brushing the sandy bottom as you slowly kicked your feet, treading water.
Jimin immediately picked up on your mood. He slipped closer, his grin fading as his eyes slowly filled with concern.
“You’re not afraid, are you?”
“Not of the ocean.” You mumbled.
Jimin lifted a hand out of the water, reaching for your face. He touched your cheek lightly, wiping a few drops of saltwater away before lowering his hand again.
“Don’t be scared.” He tried to comfort you. “I’m right here, and I won’t let anything happen to you. I promise.”
You didn’t say anything, and the silence grew heavy as you both bobbed in the gently rolling waves. Jimin was so close, your legs nearly tangled together beneath the water as you tried to stay afloat. He was looking so deeply into your eyes, you felt like he could see right through you.
Jimin’s presence was overwhelming, the radiant beauty of his bare face even more apparent from this proximity. You tried to calm yourself, but each breath you took was shallower than the last - and Jimin’s heavy breathing only added to your difficulty.
After a long moment, Jimin’s eyes finally broke contact with yours, and his gaze traveled down to your mouth. Slowly, the space between you began disappearing, until Jimin’s face was only a hair away from yours. You suddenly realized what he was about to do, but before his gloriously full lips could brush yours, you stopped him.
“Don’t.” You exhaled.
Jimin paused, then pulled back the slightest bit.
“Don’t what?” He asked, his breath warm on your face.
“Don’t get my hopes up.” You replied, sinking down in the water, letting the surface reach your chin.
Jimin smiled faintly, but his furrowed brow betrayed his confusion. He tilted his head, waiting for an explanation.
“Don’t kiss me if you don’t mean it.” You clarified.
Jimin scoffed in surprise, his eyes widening.
“You think I would kiss you if I didn’t mean it?”
You shook your head.
“No, that’s not… I’m not talking about how you feel in this moment. Maybe you do really want to kiss me right now but... if it’s only a kiss to you, and nothing more… I’d rather you didn’t kiss me at all.”
The corners of Jimin’s mouth turned down.
“Is that what you think? You think I would kiss you so carelessly?”
“No, not intentionally… I know you never mean to hurt anyone, but…”
“But what?” Jimin asked, his expression so open and innocent it tugged on your heartstrings.
“I have feelings for you, Jimin.” You found yourself confessing before you could think better of it. “Real feelings. I have for a long time. So unless you really mean it, please… don’t kiss me. Because I don’t think my heart could take it.”
Jimin blinked slowly. When he spoke, his voice was just above a whisper.
“You have feelings for me?”
You nodded, unable to meet his gaze.
Jimin touched your cheek again, turning your face to look at him.
“And what makes you so sure I don’t have real feelings for you?” He breathed, the hint of a smile playing on his lips.
Your heart throbbed at his words - and at his touch.
“Because that would be too good to be true.” You admitted, not understanding why your response made Jimin’s smile grow.
“Haven’t you noticed how I light up every time you… every time you look at me? Every time you touch me?” He lifted his eyebrows.
You shrugged, looking away again.
“You act that way around everyone. It’s just how you are.”
Jimin giggled lightly.
“Is it really so hard to believe that I’m in love with you?”
Your breath caught.
“Love?” You checked, when you remembered how to inhale.
Jimin’s eyes sparkled, and he nodded.
“Yes. I’m in love with you. So in love.” He confirmed, color blossoming on his cheeks. “I’m sorry, I should have told you sooner… Much sooner. But I was afraid you didn’t see me that way.”
Your kicking feet slowed to a stop, and you unconsciously held onto Jimin’s shoulders to keep yourself steady in the water. His hands held your arms securely.
“I’ve always seen you that way.” You told Jimin, sure your incredulity was plain on your face and in your tone. “I thought you didn’t see me that way.”
Jimin smirked, leaning in as he spoke.
“I guess we were both wrong.”
With his eyes falling shut, he let his hands glide across your skin. Wrapping his arms around you, he held you against his body as he lowered his head.
But just as before, you didn’t let his mouth reach yours.
“Wait. Are you sure?” You laid a hand flat on his chest, holding him back. “I mean, if you kiss me… Everything will change between us. There’s no going back.”
Jimin let go of a held breath, his eyes opening.
“I know.” He agreed. “I’m nervous, too.”
Feeling his heart beat forcefully against your palm, you knew he was telling the truth. Your heart was pounding just as much.
“As sure as I am about my feelings, there’s no knowing what the future holds.” Jimin continued, his hands massaging your back beneath the water. “It’s possible we’re better off as friends, and we might ruin our friendship if we take this step.”
You nodded solemnly, the idea of losing Jimin’s friendship causing a knot to form in your stomach.
Jimin carefully removed one hand from your back, churning the water as he moved. He wrapped his fingers around your hand, gently pulling it from his chest.
“But it’s also possible we’re meant to be more than friends. That the universe brought us together. And that thought excites me as much as it scares me.” He said, lifting your arm to place a kiss on the inside of your wrist.
The sensation of Jimin’s lips on your skin made you shudder. You drew in a shaky breath.
“So what are we supposed to do? If we’re both scared, and knowing those are the possibilities?”
Jimin looked into your eyes, sliding your hand behind his neck.
“Just let me love you.” He murmured, drawing near once again, his nose bumping your nose and his breath mixing with yours.
But this time, when he tried to kiss you, you didn’t stop him.
This time, you welcomed Jimin, guiding his face until your mouths carefully connected.
And just like that, your whole world changed.
Though your walk into the water had been a metaphorical step over the edge, this kiss was a running leap. But as you’d secretly hoped, Jimin was right there to catch you. And he was holding on tight.
His arms fully encircling you again, Jimin pressed your lips together tenderly, kissing you slowly and sweetly. Wanting to be even closer, you wrapped your legs firmly around his waist, clutching his neck, and you both sank down until Jimin’s feet touched the ocean floor. The water’s surface covered his shoulders, but neither of you were concerned. You were too lost in each other, your mouths moving together like they were always meant to meet. And when Jimin tangled his fingers into your hair and delicately licked your lips, you opened yourself up to him, inviting the increased passion.
The deeper the kiss became, the deeper you fell, and the farther all your worries and fears fled. Being with Jimin in this way felt natural, effortless, and right - and so amazingly good. His lips were softer and smoother and gentler than you’d ever imagined, and you could feel how he was pouring his heart into showing you how much he meant everything he had expressed. He loved you. He really did. And you loved him, too. With everything you had.
It was true you couldn’t know what the future would bring, but in the same way Jimin pulled you tighter as he kissed you, refusing to let you drift away in the water’s current, you knew he would never let you hit rock bottom. Knowing he loved you, you believed that he would always be there. You trusted that he would ensure a soft landing for you.
All you had to do was brave the fall - and just let him love you.

Prompt: Kissing Jin in the kitchen for no reason at all.

Sweet
You folded your arms across your chest, starting to lose your patience. Jin continued to browse through the refrigerator’s contents, taking his sweet time, seemingly unaware that he was obstructing your path. Finally, your boyfriend settled on a bottle of sparkling water, grabbing it and straightening up. You let out a relieved sigh as he stepped back and you moved towards the fridge, but he shut the door just before you reached it. When he looked back at you, he found you wearing an annoyed expression you couldn’t hide.
“Oh, sorry, jagi.” He apologized with a smile, unscrewing the cap from his water. A fizzy hiss escaped the bottle. “Did you need something out of the fridge?”
A sassy remark immediately came to mind, but you held it back. You were trying to bake him a welcome home treat, but his broad shoulders seemed to block you at every turn in your cramped kitchen.
Choosing not to respond, you only sighed again and quickly pulled open the door to fetch the egg carton. As soon as you turned around, you saw Jin leaning against the counter, casually sipping his drink - right in front of the drawer you were just about to open.
You drew in a slow breath. You were trying not to overreact, you really were. You loved your boyfriend, and you loved having him home. These nights together were far too infrequent; he was often gone for work for weeks at a time and you missed him like crazy until he returned. But, to be perfectly honest, every time he was gone, you got kind of used to him not being around. So when he was around, there was always an adjustment period. It took you some time each time to remember how to share your home, and you had to remind yourself often to not get upset with Jin and his shoulders for simply taking up space.
“Excuse me, baby.” You said as calmly as you could, approaching Jin and touching his arm. “I need to get by you.”
He didn’t hesitate to slide over, allowing you access to the drawer, but instead of moving to his right, as you’d anticipated, he moved to his left - and stopped directly in front of the oven.
Your sigh was unmistakably exasperated this time.
“What?” Jin asked, his eyes widening. “What did I do?”
You pinched the bridge of your nose.
“I’m sorry but could you just… not be in the kitchen for a while?” You asked.
“I just wanted a drink.” Jin frowned. “And to hang out with you, my amazing, beautiful, wonderful, smart, loving, talented, patient girlfriend who I’ve missed so much.”
You felt a pang of guilt - which you suspected was exactly his intention.
“Fine. But if you’re gonna stay in here, please try to keep out of the way.” You said, marching towards him. When you reached him, you leaned around his frame to punch the buttons to set the oven to preheat.
Jin made a crisscross motion over his heart, but his face wore a small smirk.
“And here,” You added, holding out a well-worn recipe card towards him, “Make yourself useful and read me the instructions while you’re at it.”
“I’m nothing if not useful.” Jin quipped, taking the card from you and scanning the recipe.
“What about handsome?” You joked as you organized your ingredients and tools on the counter, hoping he could tell you weren’t really upset with him.
“Useful and handsome.” Jin agreed, and the corner of your mouth lifted.
You glanced at him, and he returned your faint smile, his eyes telling you he wasn’t offended. He then brandished the recipe card, clearing his throat, and your hands hovered over the countertop, poised and ready.
“Step number one,” Jin recited in his best MC voice, “Give your baking assistant a kiss.”
You scoffed.
“What? No, Jin, just read me the instructions! Please.”
Jin feigned offense.
“I am!” He exclaimed. “I’m reading them word-for-word!”
“I’ve made this recipe a million times, I know for a fact it doesn’t say that.” You accused him, reaching for the card, but Jin held it against his chest, shielding it from your view.
“Yah, I’m just reading what it says!” He laughed, swatting your hand away. “It says right here,” He pointed to a random spot on the card, “That you have to give me a kiss before we start or the whole thing will fail.”
“Whatever.” You huffed dramatically, rising to your tip-toes to quickly peck Jin’s smiling lips. “There. Step one complete. Now, what’s step two?”
Jin pretended to study the recipe.
“Hmm, step two is… repeat step one.”
“Jin!” You groaned, shoving his shoulder. “Come on! Seriously, could you stop messing around and just read me the recipe? Please?”
Jin’s teasing expression faded, and he reached for your waist, gently pulling you closer.
“Jagiya,” He chuckled softly, touching your face, “I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to upset you. Usually you don’t mind it when I mess around… Is something wrong? Did you have a hard day?”
“I’m just trying to do something nice for you.” You pouted. “I just wanted to make you something sweet to welcome you home, but you’re making it difficult.”
“Jagi…” Jin smoothed his thumb across your cheekbone, “I’m sorry, I didn’t know… I really appreciate you wanting to do something sweet for me… but you should know that you are the only sweet thing I want right now.”
You looked up into Jin’s eyes, and found him gazing at you with such sincerity - such pure, unadulterated love - that your heart instantly melted, and your pout became a repentant frown.
“I’m not being very sweet, though.” You admitted guiltily. “You’re being sweet and I’m treating you like a brat.”
Jin smiled slowly, cupping your face with both hands, and pressed a kiss to your forehead.
“But you’re my brat, and I love you.” He exhaled, inclining your chin. He then lowered his head, his eyes slipping shut as he sought out your lips, and a pleasant shudder ran through you when he found them.
Jin kissed you sweetly at first, taking his time to enjoy the feel of you in his embrace again after so long, but his hands gradually trailed down your body as his soft lips pressed to yours, his languid kisses slowly burning hotter the lower his grasp travelled. Your blood rushing, all thoughts about baking or wanting Jin to stay out of your way rapidly fled your mind, until finally, he reached the backs of your thighs. Breaking his mouth away, Jin hoisted you up and turned around, sitting you on the counter in one quick movement, before you even had time to gasp. He then fit himself between your legs and anxiously reclaimed your lips, parting them with his tongue as his hands kneaded your hips.
And it was at that precise moment that a loud beep sounded over the pounding of your heart, indicating that the oven was done preheating.
“The oven,” You remembered, reluctantly tearing yourself away, “The oven’s ready and I don’t have anything to put in it.”
Jin regarded you with a smoldering expression as both of you panted, trying to catch your breath.
Then a mischievous spark glinted in his eyes.
“I have something to put in your oven.” He purred, and before you could react, he hefted you up over his shoulder.
“Jin!” You cried, laughing as he started carrying you out of the kitchen and towards your bedroom. “What about your dessert?!”
Jin continued striding confidently down the hallway.
“It’s right here.” He replied, patting your bum with his free hand.
You giggled, swinging your arms and legs lazily, not really fighting him.
“At least turn the oven off!”
You couldn’t blame him for his appetite, and you were in no mind to deny him. Because honestly, the way he’d just kissed you… He’d awoken the same hunger in you, too.
Reaching your bed, Jin slid you off of his shoulder and carefully deposited you on the edge of the mattress.
“You’re right, jagi, I’ll turn the oven off. It’s about to get hot enough in here as it is.” He grinned.
You rolled your eyes, but you couldn’t deny the heat you felt spreading throughout your body.
“Okay, go ahead. If you’re sure you don’t want anything sweet tonight.”
Jin bent down to press a lingering kiss to your lips, and a wave of pleasure surged through you.
“I told you, jagi,” He whispered, his face hovering close, “You’re the only sweet treat I want. Tonight and every night.”
You smiled up at him, and stole another kiss, your teeth grazing his plump bottom lip.
“How about sweet and spicy?” You teased.
Jin straightened up, holding his tummy as he laughed his signature laugh.
“I like the sound of that.” He chuckled, making his way towards the door. “Just hold that thought, I’ll be right back.”
“Wait, Jin?” You called after him, and he paused in the doorway.
“Yes, jagi?” He asked.
“I’m glad you’re home.” You smiled sweetly, and you truly meant it. Even though you'd been unjustly annoyed with him earlier, now you wanted nothing more than for Jin to share all of your space.
Jin’s expression softened, his gentle smile reaching his eyes.
“Me too, sweetie.” He agreed. “Me too.”

Moonlight
Wandering down empty cobbled streets and bricked alleyways with you, Taehyung felt lighter and more alive than he had in a long time. There was something magical about exploring an old city on a quiet night, and it naturally gave him a spring in his step. It seemed like you and Taehyung were the only two people in the world. Everything felt so wide open, completely free of complications and full of possibilities - and it was an exciting feeling.
You appeared to feel similarly carefree, floating along, practically dancing as you walked, until you abruptly stopped and your gaze drifted heavenward, towards the night sky.
When Taehyung realized you were no longer by his side, he turned around to find you. Spotting you a few paces behind him, your head leaned back and your face upturned, he smiled to himself as he backtracked to stand next to you.
“I don’t look up often enough.” You said as Taehyung drew near, not looking at him.
Taehyung glanced up at the sky, not sure what you were getting at, before returning his gaze to your face.
“I mean, I can’t remember the last time I looked at the sky. Like, really looked.” You explained, tilting further back to fill your view. “It’s so beautiful, isn’t it?” You asked reverently.
“So beautiful.” Taehyung agreed, but he was still looking at you, his fond smile growing as he admired the way the faint light of the moon made your skin shimmer.
Taehyung loved the way light danced off of you. The golden rays of the sun, the harsh glare of fluorescent bulbs, the warm flicker of a candle, the blue glow of a screen - it didn’t matter. He found you absolutely radiant in any form of light.
But moonlight was his favorite.
When the soft silver beams swathed you, filtering through your hair and contouring your face with shadows, your luminescence seemed ethereal to him. Like you were a vision, or a dream. Or an angel, sent from above.
He wasn’t shy about telling you all of this, either. He often stopped you abruptly, pointing his camera at you and claiming the light was hitting you just right. Embarrassed but flattered, you’d play along and pose for him, but when he’d rave about how gorgeous the picture turned out, you’d insist it had everything to do with his photography skills and nothing to do with your supposed radiance.
And every time you downplayed your beauty, something deep inside of Taehyung ached. Did you really not know? Did you really not know that you were stunning? Did you not know that he thought you were the most glorious person he knew, inside and out? Didn’t you know that your smile lit up his world, and set his heart alight? Couldn’t you tell how much he longed for you?
Didn’t you know that he was completely in love with you?
Just then, you swayed slightly, and Taehyung reflexively reached for you. He braced your arms as you lowered your head, and when your eyes met, you were both surprised to find your faces so close together. With only a breath between you, it was easy for Taehyung to see the white moon reflecting in your eyes.
“Are you okay?” He asked, concern plain on his face.
“I’m a little dizzy, but I’m fine.” You replied, your hands resting on his shoulders for support. “Just had a touch of vertigo, that’s all. It’s disorienting to look up for too long… I guess that’s why I don’t look at the sky very often.” You joked.
Taehyung relaxed, his gaze traveling down your face to your blossoming smile. He mirrored your expression, his eyes not leaving your beautiful lips. Then your smile widened, and he realized he was staring.
But you were staring at his lips, too.
Slowly, you slid your hands up Taehyung’s neck, your fingers weaving into the hair at the base of his head as you pulled him closer, and his skin tingled where you touched him. It felt so good to hold you in his arms, to share your warmth, to breathe in your scent.
Taehyung wanted to kiss you. He really did. Badly, his pounding heart reminded him. He had wanted to kiss you since you first met. But something always held him back.
You were unlike anyone else. You were special, and you deserved the world. You deserved someone who could give you everything, and would always be there for you. And Taehyung was afraid that, because of his hectic idol life, he couldn’t be that someone - no matter how much he wanted to be.
So maybe it was better if you didn’t know how he felt.
Reluctantly, Taehyung grasped your hands and gently removed them from his neck, giving you an apologetic look as he took a step back.
“Uh, I guess we should start heading back. It’s pretty late.” You chuckled, but Taehyung sensed the nervousness in your laugh - and the disappointment in your eyes. His heart dropped as you lowered your head and brushed past him to continue down the street.
“Wait.”
The word escaped Taehyung without volition, his baritone voice echoing down the deserted alley as his fingers closed around your wrist.
You immediately halted, then took a deep breath before turning back around. When you met Taehyung’s gaze, you appeared more fragile than he had ever seen you, and it nearly broke his heart.
“I’m sorry.” He breathed.
“There’s nothing to be sorry about.” You replied dismissively. “But we should hurry and get back, the guys are probably wondering where we are.”
Taehyung tightened his grip on your wrist.
“No, I owe you an apology. And an explanation.”
You cast your eyes down uncomfortably.
“It’s okay, Tae. Really. I misread the moment. Let’s just forget about it and go, please.”
Taehyung shook his head, slipping a finger under your chin to lift your face.
“You didn’t misread anything.” He spoke softly, trying to reassure you. “I promise, I want to kiss you.”
Your moonlit eyes widened, and Taehyung couldn’t stop the corner of his mouth from twitching up at your reaction.
“Then why didn’t you?” You asked incredulously.
Taehyung considered your question for a long moment. He thought he had a good reason, but the more he looked at you, your angel face glowing bright, the less sure he was.
Maybe he couldn’t give you the world…
But he could give you everything he had.
“Because I’m an idiot.” He finally said, cupping your cheek and pulling you to him, hastily drawing your mouth to his.
With abandon, Taehyung kissed you, and the moment your lips met, he knew he made the right decision. You melted against him, the curves of your body conforming to his every angle like you were made for each other, and your hands once again wove into his hair. His heart slamming against his ribs, Taehyung wrapped his arms around you and breathed you in, allowing himself to get lost in the moment. He had imagined kissing you so many times - had even come close once or twice before tonight - but actually feeling your smooth lips, tasting your sweet mouth, and touching your soft body was better than Taehyung ever imagined. He never wanted to let you go, and as you returned his kiss eagerly, humming happily and smiling against his lips, he regretted ever thinking this wasn’t a good idea.
“I’m an idiot and I’m sorry.” Taehyung said again, nuzzling his face against your neck. “I should have done this a long time ago. And I definitely should have done this a few minutes ago.”
“All is forgiven.” You sighed contentedly, caressing Taehyung’s cheek.
“Thank you.” He pressed a kiss to your collarbone, and chuckled when you shivered in response.
Then he leaned back and smoothed his thumb over your flushed lips, admiring how pink they looked despite the dim light.
“Have I ever told you how beautiful you look in the moonlight?” He whispered.
You nodded.
“More than once. But I never get tired of hearing it.”
You smiled sweetly up at Taehyung, and his grin grew boxy in return. He was nearly giddy with happiness.
“Then I’ll be sure to tell you every night.” He promised, hugging you to his chest and kissing the top of your head.
You tightened your arms around Taehyung’s waist, and he peered up at the dark sky. Tonight’s moon really was spectacular, he had to admit.
But next to you…
It would always pale in comparison.
Okay, listen. Spur of the moment kisses are great and all, but don't you just love it when they ask?
Like, don't get me wrong, I love it when the adrenaline gets the better of them and they just make out in front of everyone. Or when there's a long moment full of romantic and sexual tension, then they both lean in and just go at it.
But, you know what's better? A and B standing there, close enough that their bodies are practically touching, then, after a tense moment, B whispers softly, low for just the both of them to hear even when no one else is around, "Can I kiss you?" And then, A is silent for just a second, and then, breathlessly, "Yeah..."
It just makes me aaAAAHH--!!
