Staying in the Shadows. (A Naruto Fanfic) Chapter 1 - New Mission.
She was walking through the forest, her left arm injured. A kunai had struck it when she ran into some bandits on her way. She was never really good at fighting, but she knew enough to protect herself. Luckily she couldn't feel the pain her body was in or else she would have collapsed already from it. The bandits had done a good number on her. The sun started setting and she decided to rest under a tree. Her body gave up as soon as she was under the long shade of a tree caused by the setting sun. She removed her lunch box from her bag. The old lady of the inn was kind enough to pack her lunch for her long journey. "You helped my family, it's the least I could do," she had said. She opened the box thanking the lady in her thoughts for her generosity and dug into the curry and rice. Forgetting her manners, she gulped the food down her throat. She couldn't help it though, she was hungry and the state she was in made her even more so. She needed energy to heal. After finishing with a burp, a look of content spread across her features. She packed her stuff and laid her head on her bag, looking at the starry sky above her. Amongst the star she saw a face of little boy no more than the age of eight smiling down at her. His laugh played in her ears. She smiled slightly thinking she would meet him soon. Her eyes began drooping and she slept with thoughts of the boy who she thinks as her son.
She woke up as soon as the sun hit her eyes and started her journey again. Not a few hours later, she reached the place she now called home. It wasn't a home to her before, it was a mere house she could stay in and learn. That was until he was born and she felt like her life had meaning again. She smiled for the first time after many years when she first held him in her arms. He was no bigger than her forearms when he opened his eyes and looked at her the very first time. His eyed held resemblance to his father, only his were filled with emotions and his father's were cold.
She reached the door and started walking down the stairs further into the house. The house was silent. No one came to greet her. I wonder what happened, she thought. He always rushed to greet her whenever she cane back from her missions, wondering what bought him this time. She walked into a room which was filled with chemicals and computers attached to machines which were further attached to humans. She saw the black haired man near a "specimen" as he likes to call it and walked to him. "Lord Orochimaru," she bowed.
Orochimaru was her sensei, kind of. He had been training her in medical jutsu for years now. However this took a lot of begging of course. She didn't like the man per se, but he had helped her when no one else had. He gave her hope in her times of despair. He was helping her do the impossible and she was desperate enough for any sliver of hope. Sure, it came with a price but the price brought even more joy in her life. She didn't mind.
"Hn, did you bring what I asked you to?" his calm, pompous voice asked. "Yes, my lord."
"Good," he said turning around to face her and raising his palm towards her. She placed the herb she brought from the Land of Tea on his palm. He turned back and continued his work. "How did you gather it, my dear, hm?" he asked knowingly. "I, uh, bought it my lord. From a lady living in an inn near the mountains," she said looking down, ashamed of herself that she didn't carry out the mission as it was instructed to her. He had asked her to steal it as the herb was expensive and the use of it was forbidden. He didn't want any one looking into the matter as to who would buy such herb, especially not the sixth Hokage and his students. "You are as weak as ever. You paid her off with the travel money didn't you?" he looked back at her. She didn't reply, her head still down. "I keep telling you Jinko, you need to train more. You need to get stronger. Remember last time when you couldn't protect yourself?" She didn't reply still, the memory floating in her eyes. Her jaw clenched as she tried hard not to cry, not in front of him. "You cost the man's life," he continued. He saw her body tense, he knew she would cry as soon as she left his presence. He sighed, "You need to learn to fight, Jinko. You have the capability. What you know isn't enough to save your life let alone some one else's. I would have Log train you but I can't. You have another mission."
She looked him in the eye now. "Mitsuki, he ran away, to Konoha," he said simply. "Why?" she exclaimed. He shrugged.
"And you didn't stop him?"
"He became too powerful."
"This was bound to happen! After all the things you put him through!"
"He became stronger didn't he?" he sighed. "That's what I wanted."
"Do you want me to follow him?" she asked. Orochimaru shook his head.
"No, I want you to be with him."
Jinko's eyes widened. "B-but what about him?" she asked, looking at the body beside them.
"I'll take care of him. You look after Mitsuki and I will help you, that was the deal wasn't it?"
Jinko looked at her feet. She wasn't sure if she should trust this man. She wanted to go after Mitsuki but she wanted to stay here too. What if he does something wrong to him? She looked at the body again. The body of her love. Tears filled her eyes. She was torn between going after Mitsuki, who was like her son or staying here with the man she loved the most, instead. Orochimaru saw the unsureness in her eyes.
"Jinko." He chastised her. "I told you I'll hold my end of the bargain if you hold yours. Nothing will happen to your beloved. You could come every week if you want to."
"But won't you need my assistance?" she knew she was kidding herself when she asked him. He wouldn't need her.
"Do you think I need to depend on someone?" he asked harshly. "Besides, you won't be of any use to me now that the next step has begun. It is beyond your scope now. As far as your training goes, you could do it your self. Take the scrolls with you if you want, but remember to guard them with your life. No one should lay a hand on it."
She had no choice but to leave it at the hands of fate. If it was in her destiny that she could see the love of her life again, she would. Reluctantly, she agreed. She walked towards his body, seeing him for the last time. His hair that she loved so much looked dead. His skin pale, and his breathing shallow. "Good bye, my love," she said as a tear slipped down her cheek. She quickly wiped it away and nodded towards her sensei. She went to her room and grabbed her stuff and some of Mitsuki's too, she knew he would need them.
She walked out of the compound of the hideout, and started in the opposite direction she came in not an hour ago, in the direction of the village hidden in the leaves. Konoha.
"I'm coming Mitsuki."
In my mind Sasuke is taking at LEAST 20 days off of his (roughly) 3,650 day investigation to go home and celebrate is wife and daughters birthdays and enjoy his days of peace!
Naruto comes up with a creative plan (like idk making his clones do all the meticulous hokage work for him) so he can go spend quality time with the family he never got to have!
Sakura isn't (literally) throwing herself pity parties and stressing out so much that she destroys her house but is instead hanging out with her literal bff Ino and having both her AND Sasuke answer Sarada's questions!
In my mind all of Team 7 would've worked together to better the entire Shinobi world. No child soldiers, no meaningless wars, no slavery, no one putting their jobs over their mental and physical health, etc...

Konan, Nagato, Sasuke...they all had the right idea. The whole shinobi system is built on fascist death cults with economies built on the trade of murder as a resource. How do you watch/read Naruto and see fucking twelve-year-olds being indoctrinated with the ‘Will of Fire’ bullshit and being taught how to kill/expected to kill people (including other children) and think, ‘wow, this is just some typical fun, shallow shonen, amirite?’ do you read the hunger games and think the games are just a fun device to have people fight each other, and not a commentary on socioeconomic equality and the horrors of capitalism? naruto literally begins as a story about a twelve-year-old orphan who seeks to become a child soldier because that's the only way his society will ever give him love or recognition, because his society is built on murder and the way you find acceptance is to commit murder. literally the entire prestige/ranking system of naruto is built on how good characters are at murder, how many people they’ve murdered, with the fan favourites being the most adept murderers. how does this just not read as ‘fucked up’ to you at all?

Konoha’s orphan system
BACK AT IT AGAIN BOISSSSSSS. So a few people expressed interest in hearing me ramble about my HCs for Konoha’s orphan welfare system (aka more reasons to hate Sarutobi Hiruzen), so I GUESS I’M DOING THAT. Before we get into this, just know these are 100% HCs that only acknowledge canon long enough to kick it in the nuts. I *did* try to make it reasonably canon compliant so that it could work for multiple aus (yes ppl can use these HCs in their fics if they want, just credit me pls :)) but canon is barely compliant with itself so…

Naruto headcannons
What piercings the Konoha 11 would each get.
Shino- Shino is so quiet but it’s always the quiet ones you need to watch out for lmao. I feel like he would probably have an eyebrow piercing or none at all. I feel like he would think that piercings are wayyyy to extreme.
Hinata- dudeeeeee Hinata would probably be that one shy girl who has nipple piercings or something. Like she probably got it because she thought Naruto would think it was cute (and he does). I don’t think she would get it anywhere besides there.
Kiba- OML Kiba would prolly have a tongue piercing and and eyebrow. Like he would make sure to make it noticeable so people could complement him on it. Like he would purposely stick his tongue out so people could be like “KiBA, DiD YoU gEt A TonGuE piErciNg???” And he would be like “👅👅👅 YETh”. Andddd he got a secret pepe piercing on a dare from Naruto and Choji and then he totally did it. The only issue is the Akamaru would probably destroy his eyebrow piercing when he jumped up on him.
Ino- Ino pig would get a belly button piercing, FOR SURE. she would probably be like, “hey billard Brow! Look at my new sexy piercing!” Talking to Sakura. But she would definitely start wearing crop tops a lot more and I also think she would probably get her second piercing and 3rd. Just to be cute.
Choji- Choji wouldn’t have any piercings. I feel like he would just be chill and that’s it. Like he would be seeing all his friends get piercing and just be like “Nah fam, I’ll sit this one out.” But if he really wanted to get one, it would be an eyebrow or nose stud.
Shikamaru- he would probably get 2nds and a helix. that’s about it. He only wanted seconds because he probably likes earings a lot. (I mean have you seen the one he wears already they look cute on him)🗿 he wanted a helix cuz Temari said it would look nice on him. So he was like “what A DraG.” And then got it anyway.
Naruto- the number one unpredictable nucklehead ninja would be into all sorts of things. Seeing Hinatas nipple piercings, he would be like, “Yoooo, that’s fye asf.” And then prolly get a tongue and belly button. And then he’ll get his one nipple to see how it feels lmao.
Sakura- Sakura-Chan would probably get her industrial done. She would definitely get a belly button and then show off to Ino and be like “Ino pig! Look, I got an even sexier belly button piercing!” And then she would get her 2nds for sure.
Neji- Neji would be like “I dOnt SeE hOw YaLl cOulD gEt piErciNgS likE ThaT” and then go and get his first and 2nds done. After that, tenten and Lee would make him get his eyebrows done, and he’ll be like “nO” at first but then he’ll give in. But he’s not extreme so he wont get a bunch of things.
Lee- Omg my child Lee would probably get a nose, an eyebrow, and a helix. He would be like “Don’t judge me by my bowl cut.” And then defy all the stereotypes of people with bowl cuts. And then Gai- sensei would probably be like, “😢 omg LEE YOUR PIERCINGS LOOK BEAUTIFUL😢” and then him and Lee would hug and Neji and ten ten would be like “bruh what”
Tenten- the weapons specialist would look so cool with piercings. Like she would def have a stud on her nose for sure. Then she would have an eyebrow and even snake bites. She would look so pretty. But she would either be the type to be more conservative and only get her 2nds and an eyebrow or get a bunch of other things. And then Lee is cheering her on in the background.
Naruto Headcannons
What the Konoha 11 would be like when their drunk Pt 1 :))) (I got the idea from some friends UwU)
Naruto- so I read somewhere that Naruto is actually a lightweight drinker according to Kishimoto lmao. So I know for a fact, after like 2 drinks, this man will be smashed out drunk. When Narutos drunk, he starts being extra wild. Like he’ll be loud asf and he’ll try to tell jokes. He’s not the annoying kind of drunk though, he’s like that friend who y’all laugh at because they just busted their ass on the pavement, while drunk. And don’t pass him the Mic on karaoke night. He won’t give it back and he’ll sing at least 10 songs before he gets tired.
Sakura- when forehead girl is drunk, she definitely either gets extra aggressive or extra suggestive. Like she’ll try to make moves on Sasuke, if he was there. If not, she’ll probably be extra fun but then if Naruto says something, she’ll punch the crap outta him. And then her and Ino will have a dance off on the dance floor. (Sakuras the better dancer).
Neji- when Nejis drunk, it’s the cutest thing. First of all, his cheeks are flushed with a light pink. I feel like Neji is also a lightweight drinker, so it’s not long before he’s having a headache or ready to throw up. When he’s drunk, he’s a little nicer and less serious and he starts sluring his words a tiny bit. Ten ten usually has to take him home and take care of him, while Lee is lecturing him about not tainting his body with alcohol (Lee takes care of him too tho). Nejis vision gets a bit blurry and he stumbles from side to side, but this is after like 3-4 drinks (if he even decides to drink that much) (fun fact- Ten Ten has had to lift him up and carry him one time, because he actually couldn’t walk.)
Ten ten- Ok lets get one thing straight. Ten ten can’t get drunk ok. She has to be the designated driver. But if she has to have a drink, she’ll only have like 2. She’s never told anyone this, but she’s a heavyweight drinker. It’s hard for her to get drunk, so she could have like 6 drinks before she actually starts feeling it. When she starts feeling drunk, she starts staring into oblivion and zoning out, but that’s just the first stage. When she gets really drunk, she’s the LIFE of the party.
Lee- CHILEEE WEVE ALL SEEN HOW THIS MAN GETS WHEN HES DRUNK. Lee will fight everyone in the bar. Like he’ll pick fights on purpose and stuff. Don’t let there be a damn karaoke station. He will go and sing and Nobody will stop him. Then he’ll try to ask Sakura out. “mY beAutiFUl SaKurA, wiLL u GO oUt wItH mE😍😍”. Then Tsunande jr would probably knock him tf out. He doesn’t get drunk on purpose though. He ordered some whiskey battered bourbon bangers and didn’t realize that it had alcohol in it (it’s Lee, did you really expect him to know?)
Y’all Ever Realize How Strong Kurama/Kyuubi/Nine-Tails Chakra Is? Go watch •the Guardian Shinobi Arc• before reading this, Ok I know what you’re probably thinking ‘Ichiro we already know what Kurama can do his capabilities are limitless!’ I agree with that, but have you ever stopped and thought about Sora, and the impactions of a Fake Jinchūriki? You probably haven’t because the Sora arc is filler but he’s still important so let’s explore why: Sora maybe a Jinchūriki but unlike others, he’s a different type of disastrous! Now I don’t hate Sora, I actually really like him, He’s fun to watch! But something’s are hard to ignore. Like attacking the Hokage, attacking fellow Fire Country Residents, claims of wanting to take over the Village[not become Hokage no, take over the Village by force], trying to assassinate Certain people, amongst other things, so he’s not a good kid, but he’s also a troubled Kid, as anyone can guess being a Jinchūriki means not having a good childhood, as you can tell from someone like Garra, but unlike most, He had a chance at life, he wasn’t mistreated at first, that was until He unintentionally Used the Kyuubis Chakra destroying the fire temple, then people began to fear him and see him as nothing more than a monster , due to the harsh treatment at the temple, He has the same traits as most Jinchūriki: Loud, Brash, Sneaky, Embracive, Angry/Hateful. He still has respect for his surprisers. When First met Naruto it led to a Altercation, He is one of Asumas apprentices, He’s vary Easily manipulated as shown quite a few times, you’ll have to check out [Jacub Two2]s YouTube channel to learn more, I took inspiration from him! ——————————————————————————— Let’s get onto the actual reason why you’re here, Kurama! I’ll make this short, Sora almost turned into a second Kurama, He was stopped at 4-5 Tailed Mode, if he kept going he would have reached 9-Tails[if his body didn’t give out first, he’s not a Uzumaki] and turned into a second Nine-Tails! Although I like Sora, he’s a menace! He had not even a fraction of the Kyuukis Chakra and That was what he was able to accomplish.
