earlier i was talking to a US liberal and they made the astounding analogy, "If I was going to be shot by a turbo bullet that hurts really bad, or a double turbo bullet that hurts even worse," regarding voting in the upcoming presidential election. it strikes me how, from a rhetorical perspective, this and related analogies are meant to create a false premise under which their position of the need to vote x is necessarily correct, but overwhelmingly it makes these people seem utterly childish and detached from any reality of the situation. just like an utterly idiotic thing to say. and liberals love these nonsensical analogies! they never fucking stop with them! they can't be bothered to interrogate their position in any real terms so they just say the dumbest shit that comes to mind and nod at each other because absolutely no one on earth that doesn't already have the same politics is going to read a statement like "turbo bullet that hurts really bad" as anything other than worthlessly stupid

Something that altered my brain chemistry.

I live in a neighbourhood that is clearly being gentrified. It’s the only area I could afford in my city as living costs rise. I try hard to keep to myself and not bother anyone but there is a lot of crime happening in the house next door with a lot of “less than savoury” people coming and going.

It’s to the point where I’ve had things stolen, my driveway is constantly used for “deals”, my house has been attempted to be broken into, I’ve had to put up taller fences, more barriers, get creative with motion sensors, invest in quality locks that can’t be cut, etc.

And EVERY time I mention this to a more liberal one of my friends I’m met with ZERO empathy. These people consistently have more empathy for the homeless drug addicts saying that it’s so sad they have no where to go…

I’m losing sleep, (up at 2:43am writing this cause they set off fireworks 3 meters from my house 15 min ago) I’m starting to become paranoid and I feel like I have literally no one to turn to.

I’m at a breaking point and these people literally do not care about me cause “well at least you can afford to have a home”

And the biggest kicker??? These people are NEVER the ones impacted by this type of crime. They can afford to live in a quality place which is far safer. It’s infuriating.

I’m a liberal in a house of conservatives, meaning they are republicans and I’m a democrat. My family was basically roasting the Democratic Party and were saying why the Republican Party is so much better and I had to sit there with a smile for TWO HOURS because of them trash talking me without knowing it. For context my family is very religious and have very Christian ideals. I’m Christian as well however I’m also gay and a liberal so that doesn’t mix well. Especially when they don’t know.
