What's the red thing on mer-akin's tail fin, is it a natural color marking? Or does it have a bite taken out of it?
A little part of his tail fin is gone because he almost got caught by fishermen once. His tail got stuck in a fishing net and when he tried to get free he tore his tail on it. Thankfully nothing worse happened but now he is a little more scared of being spotted by humans in fear that they will go for him for real he’s heard stories from Failon how far humans are willing to go to capture a “magical” being.
Mer!Akin is thrilled when it starts raining because he can go out and see land without worrying about drying out. Taur!Failon is less than thrilled about carrying him around in a downpour since he's not a big fan of being rained on, so Akin brings a big leaf as an umbrella for Failon. Akin: "It's the least I can do, haha"
“Hey I found this huge leaf for you!”“I can bear the rain,”“Okay, you don’t have to use it,”“NO IM GONNA USE IT BACK OF!”
Taur!Failon is not impressed, but he’ll take it. His annoyance is lessened when he sees the huge smile on Akin’s face :D
While Mer-Akin and Taur-Failon are having lunch by the stream, Failon offers Akin some leafy greens and Akin offers Failon some fish. They take one bite out of each other's food and are immediately like "UGH EW HOW DO YOU EVEN LIKE THIS STUFF"
“It’s just vegetables Aki, we all need the vitamins!”“Well- well… Fish are… good too tho? No?… Although sometimes I do feel kinda bad. You know, I can’t really eat blue fish, or purple ones. They remind me of… me. I can just imagine how Mer!Akin and Taur!Failon first met, Akin was just so thrilled to see this strange and awesome and handsome magical being before him and soon he was crawling around at Failon's feet curiously inspecting his hooves. Failon was a bit freaked out at first, while Akin was just so fascinated about his legs "because I don't have any, but you have FOUR!"
Asfjgalfk it probably happened like Failon was having his own patrol around “his” territory (maybe expanding it) thinking and brooding as you do and as such drowning in his own thoughts, he stumbled upon a place with a beautiful lake he’s never been here before - fairies flying, butterflies fluttering maybe one unicorn, a beautiful willow trees. And he’s just like ayy this is a nice spot to relax and think deep thoughts because that’s what I do in my spare time, let me refresh myself a little. And he’s just so relaxed so he goes to take a sip of the clear cold water, everything is so nice and magical and peaceful.“Four legs must be pretty useful huh?” and suddenly there are big blue eyes watching him and a face with a big smile and there is a person in the lake!! WHAT?! but then he sees the tail splashing around and he relaxes a bit but is still startled.“Uhhh… yeah pretty handy on land, though in the water I imagine not very ideal,” the merman grins even more, his face full of happiness and wonder and excitement (and he’s pretty cute- shut up brain).“True… But they can take you far away, I only have this much,” and he gestures to the lake. Failon narrows his eyes but after a moment he deems the being in front of him no threat.“What’s your name?”“Oh… Oh! Sorry, yes, hi, sorry for startling you. Nice to meet you, I’m Akin!” Failon sighs but oh well, at least his day is now more interesting.“Failon, the pleasure is all mine,”

How long can Mer!Akin go without water before he starts feeling some ill effects? I can imagine Taur!Failon freaking out when Akin loses track of time, overstays on land and passes out from dehydration and Failon panics and picks him up and frantically gallops to the nearest source of water he can find and when Akin comes to he has no memory of just what the heck happened xD
I think he can go 6-10 hours without being in water but ultimately he always needs to return and submerge himself completely - streams are useful he can keep hydrated and keep himself wet.
Failon would panic, Akin suddenly fainting and not responding? He’d go into full “save his life” mode :D almost yeeting him back into the lake and then waiting with held breath for Akin to show up above the surface to reassure him that he’s alright. And when he does he’s like:
“Ay we made it back, did I faint? Thanks for taking me back!” and Failon just stares at him and then all the emotions just rush out.
“ARE YOU OKAY?! How are you feeling? DO you feel faint? Do you remember what happened?! Akin you could have died! I’m so sorry I wasn’t paying attention! I shouldn’t have taken you with me” and as he says that Akin’s immediately stops him.
“No, I am eternally grateful for all you’ve done for me, all these adventures you take me on, I owe you so much, don’t ever say you regret taking me, because it is the thing that keeps me going another day,” :’’) and Failon is crying on the inside while he listens to Akin talk and then he hugs him and apologizes one last time and swears to himself he will never lose track of time again.
Love your two ocs Akin and Failon, do they have a story behind them? Would be nice if you had a fic or a comic about them (especially the taur/mer AU! I'd love to see a lot more aus of this two nice bois ) :3

There actually is a story behind them, but unfortunately, it’s only in my native language which is czech, I am trying to work on my english more and I am thinking about translating it, but it’s hard for me and I’m not really confident in my english storytelling skills :D
I will do more stuff with the Taur/Mer AU because I also really like it :D, I also have an Art Thief/Painter AU and Hogwarts AU for which I might do some stuff too
As I’ve said right now I’m not really confident in translating the entire main story of Failon and Akin (it’s called Lucifer’s Saint Trinity btw :D) but if you want to know more you can always ask me some specific or semi-specific questions about them (like who are they in that story or what kind of setting is it) and I will try my best to answer! Mostly because questions help me focus more and not lose track or go off topic too much :)

2. What is the thing they feel the most guilty about?
For Akin it’s definitely being a vampire and the need to hurt people in order to survive. He hates that part of himself and feels guilty about not being strong enough to suppress the urges that come with his vampire side.
For Failon it would be the death of people he cares about. He has lost a lot in his long life and he always blames himself, that’s why he always tries to push people away.
5. List 3 fears; one “surface level” fear, one “repressed” fear, and one “deep dark” fear.
Akin: hurting the people he cares about, being used and abused, losing control of himself
Failon: being betrayed, being the cause of death of his loved one, being loved
8. Do they have anything that triggers them?
Akin - assault/abuse
Failon - emotions :D (especially love)
35. If they could change one thing about themselves, what would it be?
Akin would change being a vampire, he would really love to be a normal human :)
For Failon it is more tricky because I think he wouldn’t change himself but more so what happened in his past or what might happen in his future.
36. Are they in control of their emotions, or are their emotions in control of them?
Out of the two of them Akin is more controlled by his emotions, if you piss him off he will fight you :D and if he likes you - you know he likes you. Idk if that’s considered control, but he definitely lets them out more than Failon.
Failon does his best to keep his emotions below surface and he’s pretty good at it, if someone doesn’t bring up sore subjects for him like - heaven, betrayal, his father, emotions :D But because of that when he lets his emotions out, they’re always really strong.
45. What is the emotion they most commonly experience?
Akin - disappointment at himself as a negative emotion and idk if sarcasm is considered an emotion but yeee that’s Akin’s whole personality (not whole but for the most part :D)
Failon - guilt or betrayal as the negative emotions and as a normal emotion it would be annoyance (at Akin lmao)
Hm so akin's a vampire in the original canon? interesting, wonder what his powers/abilities are? does he have aversions to silver and sunlight like traditional vampires do? does he struggle to fight his thirst for blood (or is he a sort of "energy-vampire" that feeds off life-force rather than actual blood)?
Yeee :D Failon and Akin are both vampires tho Akin because he hates being one turned against his own kind and became a vampire hunter, he doesn’t kill all vampires just the ones he knows are not stable and make trouble for the ones trying to live in peace :)
I pretty much went with the heightened abilities - strength, speed, reflexes, senses and that stuff for vampires. They feed on blood it can be animal or human tho most vampires just prefer human because animal blood takes time to get accustomed to. Akin took the time and energy so he can drink from animals :D because he doesn’t like hurting humans (i know animals are good and cute and stuff but he is trying :D ). He struggles with drinking blood which means he purposefully starves himself to the point of exhaustion :D but he doesn’t go on a rampage or drinking spree.
Sunlight and fire are top weaknesses for vampires, holy water will hurt them but unless you submerge them into like a barrel of it, it will not kill them - so swords/bullets/bolts soaked with holy water will give them a hard time. Also, stake through the heart. Otherwise, they are pretty much invincible - you can crush them to a pancake and they will regenerate :D. Also, werewolf saliva?? or venom when they bite - since the bite is normally what turns a human into a werewolf, hurts them and they have to do a kind of bloodletting to get rid of the poisoned blood in their system.
Akin is a “special” kind of vampire tho so sunlight doesn’t really bother him if he has enough blood, but with him starving himself it becomes an issue :D
They have to have permission to enter houses but since most vampires tend to live in abandoned houses or stay over at their vampire friend’s house that doesn’t really bother them, most vampires consider humans to be food, potential followers/kindred or slaves/thralls. And they tend to hunt in the “wild” anyway unless they have a specific target they wanna chomp down on.
Silver is not really a problem for vampires but it is lethal for werewolves in this story :D
I didn’t think about the garlic thing but I guess they don’t care much? Vampires don’t need to eat normal food but they can if they choose to (it will not ease the thirst/hunger for blood but it tastes good?? :D) Also for a vampire to get drunk they need to mix the alcohol with blood so the alcohol can stay in their system longer. So there could be like vampires with an aversion to garlic because they just don’t like it?? And maybe they’re the ones who started that one rumour about vampires not liking it :D

What about the werewolves in the story? Is the story about the age-old rivalry between vampires and werewolves, it's been played off a lot but i'd love to see your take on it :)
Ok first of I have to tell you - thank you so much for asking me about LST I’m always very excited to talk about it :D and it actually helps me connect things in my story! So THANK YOU
I don’t think I have it as the age-old rivalry it’s more something that developed over time. Lucifer’s Saint Trinity is a trinity of generals appointed by yours truly Lucifer :D one of them is the original vampire (Failon), one of them the original werewolf (Samael - I made Lucifer and Samael separate entities because it made more sense for the backstory :D but I am aware that in some canons Samael is just another name of Lucifer) and the third one is a powerful demon (Asam).
also they are all really old by the start of LST just saying the lore goes back thousands of years for some of them haha
And in the beginning, they were all working together - not trying to usurp the world or heaven but just to balance things out. To make sure that heaven won’t try to take control etc. Because the main conflict is between heaven and hell, the earth is just the battleground for that conflict.
Their main purpose was to maintain that balance, but of course, they are the generals of hell so they also terrorize humans and make deals and make life hard for a lot of people :D but not so much as to wipe everyone else of the face of earth :D
So the rivalry between vampires and werewolves is a more recent thing relatively. There were always some fights between them but most of the time they stayed out of each other’s way or tried to work together. So LST starts somewhere at the end of the 18th century and the beginning of the 19th century and the rivalry between werewolves and vampires is already there. So I guess? It just has a different backstory and the two factions don’t start off as enemies but develop into that. So it’s kinda different but kinda still similar :D
The story is kind of about the conflict? It’s definitely in the background, but the main story that Failon and Akin play a role in, is not really about like a war of werewolves and vampires but more about taking out the main corrupted part of the werewolf faction that started this conflict.
There is more to the backstory but I don’t wanna give out any spoilers haha :D
Enemies to “ugh I can’t believe I’m saving your life” to “ugh we have to work together or the world ends but it’s not like I like you or anything” to “oh we actually connect pretty well but that doesn’t mean anything” to “I would die for you but don’t read too much into it” to “I’ll kill anyone who lays a finger on you” to Lovers.
Interesting idea: if LST is a battle of heaven and hell it would be an interesting twist to have a major antagonist be an evil angel, with some of the forces of hell being morally dubious but ultimately noble and heroic individuals, and some of the forces of heaven being self-exalting narcissists seeing humans as mere playthings, thus making "good and evil" not so clear-cut :D
Now now, I don’t wanna, you know, spoil too much anon, but I think you’re on to something there ;) :D
In LST you can certainly find some noble demons of hell as well as not so saintly servants of God :))). I didn’t wanna go the traditional way of - Good versus Evil!!! We are the good guys and the bad guys always lose! Sometimes you might be on the wrong side of things even if you have good intentions.
I think a lot of the characters in this story are in the morally grey area - they do a lot of shady things but they are also just trying to live their life and if you don’t fuck with them they generally don’t fuck with you.
I don’t think there are purely good guys and purely bad guys even in the real world, but this story is certainly not from the “good guy” perspective, tho it is about trying to stop a war that might destroy the world. I’m trying to explore the not so good sides of the main characters - Akin and Failon are not good people (they are not even people :D) well in a shady world, you must adopt some shady tactics.

I love that twist on good vs. evil, i can imagine some demons being reluctant victims of circumstance, misguided evildoers who think they're doing what's right, or chaotic good antiheroes caring for others but defying divine laws. On the angels side, we could have templars destroying all they percieve as impure, or with facist ideals about who are worthy of life, or those blinded by their strict adherence to the law...
Yeah pretty much what I'm trying to do with LST :D
You know, to show that the world isn't so black and white and most people live in the shades of greyyy (and gayyy) :D
Lucifer is pretty cool in LST I'd hang out with him :D
PS: I know it might sound pretty cool but I feel like im a shitty writer so most likely my ideas are great but the actual writing might not be ayyy :D but its not terrible :D
