Magnifico Defenders - Tumblr Posts
Don't think of him as a one-dimensional fictional villain like the people around me - and even my 7yo brother.
Guys! I'm celebrating!! đ¤Ł

So my Dad was babysitting my cousin's daughter ( 7 yrs old btw.) And he watched WISH with her.
Obviously, I was waiting eagerly for her opinion. Mind you, the kid is one of the clever kind. Well, so I came home from work and I asked. "So, Dad, what did she say about Magnifico?" đ
And Dad looks me dead in the eye and says "She says he's not evil. The book made him bad. Bad book. Magnifico is good."
So, again folks, again we have a CHILD seeing what some adults/teens refuse to see!!
(and no, I did shut my mouth on purpose! I did not influence any of them beforehand. Neither my Dad nor my cousin's daughter ever watched Wish. )
So please, tell me, if a CHILD, a seven year old child! - can clearly conclude that Magnifico isn't evil and that the evil in the book was at fault for making him go crazy, what makes ADULTS say otherwise? And leave the whole trauma aside that even underlines the whole truth about Magnifico.
And mind you, the kid was drawing Magnifico while saying this to my Dad 𤣠the first thing she did after the movie ended was draw Magnifico!!! Not Asha, not Amaya not the others, she drew Magnifico! I'm SO proud!
I now have my youngest member of the Magnifico-defenders âď¸đâ¨ď¸
This is great for so many reasons! When a child can see through such things at a young age, they will even more so as an adult. And this will lead to compassion and understanding for trauma conditions etc. And with more understanding and compassion, there will be more help!
By defending Magnifico and similar characters, and rising awareness through him, we are doing something very right! We are fighting and standing for people with trauma and similar conditions. We stand in love, compassion and comprehension!
Let's keep standing tall my fellow defenders đŤśđź

They love you - they would do anything for you!
Words mean nothing if there's no action to prove them true!

The whole statement from the "evil book" - mind you- "bound for all eternity, nothing can break or bind the evil" is a capital B big fat lie!
A dear anon has already mentioned this before here on my blog through an ask. The gullibility of Amaya and the rest of the people of rosas almost hurts. Of course an evil book would tell you there is no way to get out of the dark!
Disney isn't the first and only one who has been spreading the message of "True love breaks evey curse and true love overcomes all. And darkness can never be greater than the light."

From the christian perspective, it's more than clear that everything said by the evil book isn't trustworthy as far as salvation goes! Evil isn't stronger than the good and never will be!
It's also intersting to note that the evil force (green evil magic) is potrayed as this shadow entity đđź
Also, why trust the words of something that literally does nothing but evil and harm?

Even if we look at the whole Magnifico situation purely objectively, like my cousins daughter, not through the lense of faith and leaving the knowledge of trauma aside, the "He's a villain now and can't be saved" is utter nonsense!
The first half of the movie we are told and shown Magnifico's true intentions. His ambitions and desires. We saw him being genuine all the way. He's always been honest and kind. He never lied, played or manipultated anyone and even further explained multiple times how he feels and why he does what he does. And then we are shown "the book" the big bad thing that will defenitly do harm and take posession of Magnifico should he use it!

That's the information! If Magnifico uses the book, he will be "controlled" by the evil from this book! This is what even Amaya said! Plain and clear.
Also, geeky side fact to the orgins of the book : Magnifico didn't get the book himself, nor did he built the evil lair where he later on created his staff. From the art book we know that he found both the book and the evil lair during the renovations. [ He's built his castle on top of an already existing building ] That means, Magnifico didn't even go to pursue such a book. He found it and kept it. Cause we already know why - trauma rooted fear, anxiety, paranoia.
If someone is controlled/posessed by something, it's more than clear that the person isn't at fault for the actions done by the evil in them! Just look at the insane difference!

Oh yeah ... I know a posession by evil if I see one. And in this case, we had the facts served on a silver tray. It's not even a guessing game.
The only thing we can hold Magnifico accountable for is the fact he did reach for the book. But then again, we also need to consider WHY he did. Reason - his trauma! He was terrified!
If the book hadn't been there, believe me, this poor man would have had the worst mental breakdown and we would have probably found him huddled together on the ground suffering out his panic attack.
People don't understand the merry go round of thoughts a traumatized person has. And the emotions that come with it. In a situation as intense as Magnifico's we do have a domino effect. Or a wildfire-effect. One tiny spark on dry grass will eventually lead to a big fire. He was already triggered and highly stressed out, and severly traumatized people oftentimes aren't able to make the best decissions - or decissions at all.

If I think about it - if I had suffered a trauma as intense as Magnifico, already more than burdened with anxiety, fear and paranoia, and then something happens that triggers me immensely, I spend an entire night feverishly searching for an answer or solution, no sleep, no food, immense stressâŚ. on top of that, no one in the entire kingdom that truly understands me ... Boy, I'd probably freak out and snap too.

The most support he's gotten during his spiral of misery was a pat to the shoulder. Not one single hug, no truly comforting words, a gentle stroke over his cheek, a kiss, truly loving words. That poor man got nothing!
Btw this is a quote from my cousins daughter. And she told it to my face randomly before I could even say anything! She said "You know, Magnifico isn't bad. The book is. He only wanted to protect everyone but the book made him evil. Bad book!"
And if that wasn't already enough, her younger brother watched the movie as well and then also randomly told me, "Bad book!" Furthermore - I wheezed and cried of laughter, because 1. I didn't expect this and 2. it was absolutely brilliant! - The daughter sat at the table and was drawing again, and then she told me, "The movie ... the magician and the bad book ..." The title she gave WISH! She made Magnifico the protagonist and the evil book the villain! Exactly right!
Anyway, then it happens, everyone KNOWS Magnifico is "controlled/posessed" and yet all of the sudden he himself is the evil? What??

In the past ten decades, disney had always done a fantastic job in displaying true evil and the - true love always wins - message. Even with quite recent movies such as Tangled, Frozen, Encanto etc. We've been introduced to the trauma topic and that "antagonists" can and should be saved.
I mean, I'm absolutely glad that we got Magnifico the way we got him, but I'm enraged about the toxic stance toward trauma.
If I'm looking at what disney did in the tangled series with Varian and Cassandra, who both had a short time period where they've been pushed down the "villain" road by trauma and by the hurt of not feeling valued, seen, heard or treated right and how this got resolved, I can only shake my head at what disney did in Wish.

Cassandra as much as Varian in fact- especially Cassandra- threatened the whole kingdom and also strived to hurt Rapunzel more than just once.
And she wasn't directly posessed by evil but heavily manipulated and blinded by it. All her "Evil actions" were completelty on her! And Rapunzel stressed that no matter what, she'll never give up on Cassandra. Why? Because she truly loved her! Because she knew that this evil wasn't who she truly is.
Rapunzel said "Even when I look at you now, after all that's happened, no matter what we've done to each other, I still see that look in your eyes. You're my best friend, Cassandra, and I will never give up on you!"

Can you imagine what could have been if Amaya and all the citizens of Rosas would have had that attitude towards Magnifico? Truly loving him for who he is and not only seeing him as a source for favours? They all simply didn't care! If they had, they wouldn't have given up on him as quick as the snap of a finger.
So we've seen antagonists and semi-villains getting redeemed before and we've seen the "True love conquers all" more than enough, and now, especially with Magnifico, disney and some ignorant haters want to tell us that this isn't what could have happened to Magnifico too?
It's ridiculous!
And the citizens of Corona forgave both Cassandra and Varian!
Now, once more, the "book" said - nothing can bind the evil magic! Yet this is exactly what happened after the people of Rosas unified and sang! The lights glowing in their chests is actually symbolic for their hearts unifying! It was immediately stronger than the hold of the evil magic, even though the book said, it's untouchable!

The evil magic was bound, "star" was set free and Magnifico pulled into the curse realm. You cannot tell me if they all had done the same thing with the goal in their hearts to free and save Magnifico, that they wouldn't have succeeded.

The way she completely ignored his emotional state right there ... who wouldn't at least stop in their tracks and be like "Are you ok? What's wrong?" Doesn't she notice his expression? I mean, she just entered the room, you cannot tell me she didn't see his panic reaction.

Also, again, not one.single.touch. NOTHING! She walks around him as if he's a tree.
She's all 𤊠while he is literally đ°
"Oh your magic blah blah blah ... magic magic magic, mimimimi!"
What would have been the right way!
"Oh, honey! You're just too kind! Pampering us all with your magic and- *takes notice of his expression* Are you alright? đ What's wrong?" And along this, put her hands on his arm lovingly, offering both support with words and physical touch!
But no. đ
Magnifico is a VERY expressive person. Each emotion is displayed on his face. He cannot hide what he's feeling. It's impossible to not notice his mood, except you're an ignorant dumbnut!

It's always only ever "Oh, your magic is amazing! Your abilities are amazing!" It's never "Oh, you are amazing! You're wonderful for all you do! You do so much, thank you for being so selfless and devoted! Thank you for trying so hard, we appreciate you!"
All that's coming from everyone around Magnifico is "Me me me! My wish, my feelings, my wants and needs, me me me! I want, want, want!"
Magnifico has always looked at others and cared for others! His sole purpose to rule and have his kingdom was so others could be safe, happy and content. The sole reason he even brought the whole "wish taking and granting" thing to life was for others, not himself! He wanted others to be safe at all costs! Set aside his trauma induced paranoia and anxiety.
The way everyone acted .... urgh! Egoistical, ignorant shit behavior is what it is! Shame on them all! Shame on Amaya and shame on every citizen of Rosas. They all don't deserve him.
Ungrateful, selfish bunch of ignorant dumbnuts!
And HER!!!! Got a wish granted! 1 day later sees her king distressed yet has the audacity to ask for ANOTHER wish to be granted!!

And then after his fall proceeds to mock him! Ew! That is so off the chards rude and low! Big Yikes!
Hi. So Iâve been enjoying your blog for a few days now and I just want to say âthank youâ for giving King Magnifico fans the safe space they deserve. Thank you for giving King Magnifico the safe space he deserves.
I tried to find other blogs that defend him the way you do but I couldnât. I agree with you 100% on Magnifico and honestly think he was the only good part of the movie.
Youâve inspired me to create an OC of my own to ship with him. Iâm remaining anonymous and donât want to tell you about them because I donât want to offend you, due to your faith. But I will dedicate the OC side blog to you once itâs open.
Without you, I wouldâve felt like a silly 37 yr old caring so much about a Disney character. Especially while Iâm going through a hard time. Now I will preserve my endangered mental health by spending time on developing my character and my Magnifico fan blog.
Please keep it up. Youâve given me a Magnifico safe space and have inspired others to celebrate their love of this character.
Oh my goodness!!! *emotional noises*

I'm so immensly moved I'm struggling to find the right words. Thank you doesn't even feel enough! I feel beyond happy and honored that I've managed to help, inspire, motivate and comfort people. That's what I want to do and if I manage to, it fills my heart with so much gratitude and joy!
But really, without you guys, I wouldn't be standing where I'm standing with my blog at this point.
I loved Magnifico from the moment I first saw him on screen and as soon as I understood enough of his story, it was more than clear to me, that I had to not only create a safe space for fans who - just like me - realized that he isn't a villain but also a place where I can fight against the very toxic stance against traumatized people and mental disorders.

And no! Never feel bad or silly for loving something because of your age! Age doesn't matter. I'm in my late 20s and one of my friends is already 30 so đ¤ˇđťââď¸ Who's to tell us we cannot love certain things anymore just because we aren't kids/teenagers anymore? People who spread such information aren't better than all those other bullies and they're obviously wrong. You can be a 100 years old and still love plushies and dolls, or Legos, or disney - it's not just for kids!
Also, while I'm more than pleased to see that more and more people start siding with Magnifico and becoming vocal that he's not a villain but a traumatized protagonist, I'm also greatly concerned by people still shaming, ridiculing, belittling and villainizing trauma.
The fact that Disney itself has pushed those toxic stigmas is beyond me! Just like one of my greatest fellow defenders stated : When did bullying a traumatized person into uncontrollable rage become acceptable? When did it become acceptable to villainize traumatized people? Since when does the message "true love breaks every curse" matter no more?
When did people lose so much compassion and became ok with pushing hate and unforgiveness?
Standing up for trauma and defending those people is not justifying wrong actions! It's calling awareness! Compassion and love! It's explaining and drawing a big difference!
There are so many toxic statements I hear people make toward traumatized people and people with mental disorders. And I think it's one of the cruelest, most disgusting and heartless things!
Magnifico has become a symbol for so many and a beacon to rise awareness to trauma and the toxic stance of disney and some people out there.
Btw, Japan has even created a hashtag that celebrates Magnifico. The japanese have been stressing from the start that Magnifico isn't a villain. The japanese amazing! â¨ď¸

So, I thank you for being a part of this incredible supportive, growing defender squad! I'll keep doing my best to fight for what's right and keep this blog growing â¨ď¸
I wish you all the best from the bottom of my heart! â¤ď¸ And again, thank you so very much!
đ King Magnifico: A Classic Disney Villain? A Misunderstood Hero? đ

Breaking news: King Magnifico's a villain after all. He's nothing but a cold, heartless tyrant who stole everyone's wishes for absolutely no reason at all, and forced everyone to bend to his will. Asha's the hero and King Magnifico's just as evil as Scar or Frollo. At least that's what some members of the Wish fandom will lead you to think, anyway.
Let's look at a few things. The movie begins with Asha singing about how the citizens of Rosas can willingly give up their wishes (see: 'Welcome to Rosas' song). Fast forward to her interview, and she's horrified because apparently King Magnifico's taking everyone's wishes and forcing them to live unhappy lives without their wishes ever being granted. And she knew nothing about any of it.
Plus her 'if someone has a bad wish, they can be stopped' line means someone wishing for worldwide genocide can easily be stopped.
The interview scene alone proves just how awkward and downright bad the writing was at times. Asha happily sang about King Magnifico and his wish system at the beginning, then acted completely blindsided during the interview.
Nobody can say Tangled suffers from so much klutziness. Not with a straight face.
And Magnifico defenders, know that you have a safe space here to celebrate the King of Rosas. Don't let anyone shut you down, here or anywhere else, for supporting Magnifico.

Further proof of Our King's anxiety and trauma: His body language. He has a habit of putting his hands behind his back. It's a self-soothing and self-preservation gesture. But then when he's more relaxed, he doesn't do that.
Case in point: Look when he meets Asha. At first you don't see his hands. They're behind his back. When he does bring a hand out briefly, it goes behind his back again. But when he warms up to her, his hands come out.
The same goes with when he's addressing his people about the magic. His hands are behind his back, and they stay there unless he brings one hand out to do something and then he puts it right back. He's uncomfortable, he's guarded and it shows.
Which is why his people should have known that something was VERY wrong when he came out on stage possessed. His body language was VERY different. He was stumbling around drunk, but his hands were both visible. His body language had drastically changed because he was essentially inebriated on dark magic. That should have been a BIG clue in that something was WRONG, not that the king was suddenly evil.
YES! THIS! đ¤đź
I've been stressing from the beginning about this! While hands loosly clasped in the back can be a sign of confidence and relaxtion, Magnifico's way of hiding his arms is different most of the time.
Now, I have always been good at reading people but then I studied psychology for a while and trauma conditions, the mental impact it has and how it shows.
Magnifico oozed trauma the very first minute I saw him. And when he mentioned what happened, plus the burned wall-rug, I knew it was deep! All his behavior clicked for me.
That is also a big part why haters villanizing him gets me fuming mad. If I was to follow their logic, then Elsa is a villain for running away and leaving her kingdom to freeze die, or Maui, who stole Tefiti's heart and caused destruction, or abuela Alma, for treating Mirabel like trash, or Imelda for forbitting music in her family, Abuela Elena for smashing Miguels guitar!
The hypocrisy is off the charts!
And the worst thing is exactly what you mentioned last. The people of Rosas not being able to see that something was horribly wrong with their king. He was so clearly not himself and no one gave a toot. It's easy to explain though. The didn't know their own king and nor did they care. All they cared about was their wishes. Their needs. Their desires. Magnifico was just their source for favors and when that well ran dry, they dropped him like a stone. Talking about selfishness!
Magnifico was never evil. Did he make some wrong choices because of his trauma? Yes. But nothing he ever did made him a villain. The only villain there was, was the book! The book, or rather, the evil force/entitiy in in! And yes, we saw that demon-thing drawn on the page. Not to forget the green clawed hands! No, magic itself isn't a conscious living, thinking being, it's a supernatural ability used by a fessel. And as a christian I can tell you the only thing behind "dark magic" are demons.
You will see this whole topic deeper explained in the upcoming cooperation post "the Magnifico case". But here is a little thing from it.
This isn't Magnifico

This is!

This isn't him

This is!

The fact that people cannot differentiate between this and understand what a possession is ...
Anyway. Anothing very interesting thing I wanna draw attention to is what comes out of Magnifico's mouth once he is full on possessed. He says things that are 100% contradictory to everything he stood for and fought for.
See the reflection thing in the fountain? It's where the quote "I win!" Falls! Why is this so deeply unsettling? Because there is nothing he won! All Magnifico ever truly wanted was happiness and savety for others around him. Magnifico's trauma had caused him to be immensly fearful and paranoid when it came to the savety of others because what happened to him left scars in his soul as deep as a canyon and he wanted no one else to ever have to suffer like he did. He didn't want power, he didn't want fame! He only wanted what's best for others and in return get some love and respect for what he did. Which, yes, he deserved anyway!
Back to my two cents of my christian opinion. It's pretty clear that the evil side does nothing but steal, kill and destroy. It's all it ever wants. To hurt and wreck. That thing that has been trapped in that book must have waited eagerly for who knows how long to get a victim it can use to destroy and use to destroy. So when that thing had taken control over Magnifico's clear consciousness, it obviously said "I won!"
Even sadder is that we could see the exact moment, the entity leaves Magnifico and he is left with confusion and panic because all he sees are the wishes floating away into the nightsky.
Also, where did the green enter and leave? Into and from his heart!

This is the same fear only increased!
And NO! God NO! It is not "Ah, no, I don't wanna lose my power and control over the people because I'm a malicious beast and I wallow in their suffering and enjoy them not being able to make one of their wishes come true!"
No. Just. No. This is ignorant, this is stupid nonsense. This is seeing evil where there is none. This is villanizing trauma!
And then some people go "Oh God, what a monster! What a evil man! Poor kid! It deserves to swim! How dare he not let the kid swim!"
Compare this to a father, who previously had lost a brother or even his first child to a drowning accident. Now the next child is old enough to swim and is running towards the water. Everyone knows the kid will jump in, swim and have fun, but all the father can think of is the potential danger of his child drowning as well. Maybe it will get a cramp, or a shark will bite it, or it gets stung by a jellyfish, steps on a venomous sea urchin, gets a heart attack, gets pulled away by a current ...
You see where I'm going?
And then the father runs, sweaps the child in his arms and forbids it to go near the water and swim because it is too dangerous. He tells his child.
"You stay here with me, as long as I deem it saver! I'm your father, it is my responsibility to keep you as safe as I can! I only want the best for you!"
And of course the child is pouty.
"
"Well, if there is a shark, it can be stopped. I might just bite one leg off of the child ...oh well...The father clearly doesn't know what he's doing! And I must know, I don't even have children!"
"Everyone call the police! Let's put this father behind bars! He's so cruel and abusive to his poor child!"
"And good heavens! He snapped at the child for saying it is old enough to decide if it wants to swim or not! And he replied that he decides if the child swims or not! What a narcissistic psychopath! He needs to be stopped!"
Anyway, I'm very excited to soon share that big boy of a post with you, where I dive into each and every aspect as deep as ever with the help of Magnificolover from instagram. đś
How does that sound? And now imagine one of these judgemental, entiteled, selfrighteous, ignorant people calling the police. And the police arrests the man and no one at the beach does anything. No one thinks "wait a minute! This is wrong!"
I can already smell the haters cooking new arguments đ feeling snubbed at their toes cause we defenders are right! And you know what? We will only get louder! We are already the vast majority! Including children!
They're mad at us and our defense? Good! Maybe then it is time to ask themselves why it is that the majority is on Magnifico's side! Or why children starting by the age 5 (my cousins son for example) can clearly conclude that the only reason Mags went nuts is because of the evil book. Better yet, they see that Asha and the people of Rosas are in the wrong how they treat their king. And children are brutally honest.
Stay loud my fellow defenders! đĽ

Apparently the hater's new favourite argument is - "Magnifico maliciously hoarded the wishes on purpose and made people forget about it for funsies, only so he could have power over them, because he's a vicious powerhungry dragon, who only cares about himself."

Oh really? Tell me, where did you find this bombastic knowledge of human nature? In the garbage bin?
Next time there's a discount on compassion and common sense, I'll make sure to notify you! It's very hard to get these days!
Not only do these people not listen to what Magnifico said, they make up reasons that are nothing but lies.
So, recap on what Magnifico said!
"I founded this kingdom so there would be a place where everyone is safe! No one should ever have to see their dreams getting destroyed before their eyes!"

Everything- Everything I do is to make sure that never happens again!"

Not that he solely built his kingdom because he cared more for the wellbeing of others than his own! And that despite the fact, that his trust in humanity has been shattered.
The cherry on top for me is to hear haters leaving the Magnifico hashtag because they cannot handle seeing us defenders taking over đ¤
The statement, that the possession by the evil entity revealed Magnifico's true self, is the biggest outrageous inane shit I have ever heard so far!

Like seriously, are these haters for real? To say someone is to blame for the evil that the evil possessing them does is absolutely wild!!!
I mean, every statement of the haters and "anti-Magnifico's" as they call themselves, is stupid anyway and they have all been debunked easily so far, but THIS! ....
Also, the way they treat trauma as if it's a common cold! Some silly headache, a sneeze! Something that hurt once but later on means nothing! Oh how I wish I could block and remove those people not only from tumblr but form the internet entirely, cause their toxic shit enrages be beyond belief! They have absolutely no idea what they're talking about! They're spitting not only stupidity and lies but also harmful and hurtful statements!
If an evil entity possesses someone and takes control, then it is the evil entity who is to blame for the actions and reactions it is doing through the person they possess!!
Sure, humans can be evil too and do wrong but a possession is a possession! And no, a possession does not reveal someone's real face! God give me strengh!
To misinterpret Magnifico's whole character and his actions is one thing, but throwing around such statements pinches a nerve on me that better shouldn't be pinched.
That some people truly believe they are in the right with their insane mind diarrhea, is beyond me!
If even one, one single thing of them would be a solid point, the majority wouldn't be on Magnifico's side, defending him with teeth and nails!
I truly hope and pray a traumatized person will never cross the path of these anti-Magnifico's and haters, because we saw how they view trauma and would treat them!
The sad truth is King Magnifico never had a chance because he was a white male. He wasn't ever meant to succeed, because Jennifer Lee is a radfem and didn't want him to. Filmthreat did a really good article revealing a lot of her behaviour especially while working on Wish.
Yes, I am aware of that. However, whatever she planned, that shot backfired. We Magnifico defenders are several thousands, millions by now if you count in the boom our man has in Japan + all the children loving him.
Honestly, I don't care anymore about what stupid nonesense Jennifer has said or will say. The cake is eaten. Magnifico isn't a villain. Period. No hater will change that fact. And while we defenders are glad we got him the way we did, we will still keep making noise by defending him and standing up to rise awareness to trauma + calling out all the toxicity and hypocrisy there is concering him.
Also, because I remember it now, the most stupid argument from the haters I've seen so far is, that we only defend Magnifico because he's hot.
What.the.actual.frick?
Are these people for real? What kind of a shit insult is this? They wanna call us superficial but are the embodiment of it themselves with their inane statements against us and Magnifico.
Us defending him has 0 to do with the fact that he's a 100 of ten with his looks, but everything with who he really is as a character and the situation concerning him. He could be Quasimodo looking and we would defend him just the same.

King Magnifico is a Star!
Poor King Magnifico. All this magic and fun was happening around him and he was isolated from it all. But What If...King Magnifico was in the woods, scared and stressed, and frantically trying to find out what the light was, and the animals sing to him instead of Asha?
In his case, it would be a reveal moment, where he finds out what star magic is, and that it's nothing to be scared of or threatened by, since "he's a star" too and has had the stardust inside him the whole time. Maybe the song helps reveal that the star magic is what caused his "own origin story" because it's what helped him learn to create his own magic. The song could serve as a gentle reality check; sometimes things you don't understand aren't always something to fear, and sometimes the answers to life's biggest mysteries are closer than you think and aren't always found in a book.
(On a side note, who can I commission to get this version performed? ;) )
Anyway, here's King Magnifico's version of "I'm a Star":

Have you ever wondered why you look up at the sky for answers? Or why flowers in the wind are effortless and elegant dancers? What forms the rings in the trees? Grows a pine from a seed? What's passed down generationally, to you? (And to me?)

And why your eyes look like microscopic galaxies? Have you ever wondered why you look up at the sky for answers?
Well, you don't have to look too hard We're here for all your question marks If you're try'na figure out just who you are Don't look far In the sky, and your courtyard Beyond the books and potion jars If you really wanna know just who you are You're a star! (Magnifico (confused): What?)

Boom! Did we just blow your mind? Magnifico (scoffs): Er, wellâŚ.I've known the entire time!
When it comes to the universe we're all shareholders Get that through your system! Magnifico: ..Solar?
See we're all just little nebulae in a nursery From supernovas now we've grown into our history We're taking whys right out of mystery, closure Now we're taking in All the star exposure!
We eat the leaves which feed off the sun Magnifico (ponderingly): So that's where the balls of gas come fromâŚ
Hey, you still look like you're hanging on by a strand But if you open your mind and heart, you'll understand!
Magnifico (intrigued): So your magic stardust, is my dust too? Amazing!

Well, you don't have to look too hard It's all around and not too far If you're try'na figure out just who you are You're a star! Do you know you're a work of art Even in the deepest dark? If you really wanna know just who you are
Magnifico (uncertain, but getting the hang of things): I'm a star...?
Here's a little fun allegory That gets me excitatory (Magnifico: "That's not a word..") This might sink in in the morning We are our own origin story
If I'm explaining this poorly Stardust makes magical glory It's all quite revelatory And it helped write your origin story!
You don't have to look too hard It's all around and not too far If you're try'na figure out just who you are You're a star!
(Magnifico chuckles, starting to relax and loosen up)

Magnifico sings along with the animals: No matter where you end or start We're all each other's counterparts If you really wanna know just who you are I'm a star!
Magnifico: Hey! I'm a star! Deer: Show the world who you are!

Magnifico: (confidently) You know who's lookin' sharp? (Who?) Me, I'm a star! (Woo!!)

Ooh, you're a star! Watch out world, there you are!
You know who's lookin' sharp? Magnifico: Who? You! You're a star!

HATE when people explain the fear in Magnificoâs face as the wishes leave him and are set free. Itâs not âoh no my powers lost đĽşâ itâs an âoh god what am I doing? Fuck Iâm hurting people, I didnât mean to, make it stop.â Itâs not a villain being defeated itâs closer to a moment of clarity, similar to one someone suffering from addiction may have. When youâre doing it you canât think of the consequences, all you know is this feels good and you donât want that to stop. But then the effects wear off and you realise people are upset and hurting and itâs your fault and you want either to stop or to get back on it so you forget what youâre doing, thatâs why he reaches for the wishes, not to grab them and control them but because when he doesnât have them heâs faced with something heâs forced to deal with alone that he canât handle.
Sorry for the rant but I really find the comparison between addiction and what Magnifico goes through interesting, and it riles me up because heâs treated like a villain when all he needs is help and the stigma facing addiction means those suffering from it canât get help and fall further into their problem. Magnifico defender for life đđŠľđ¤
YES! I mean, the fact that you can see the exact moment the hold of the possession is broken ... like ... do you see the green claws holding the wishes but they leave anyway? And the second the "demon" is kicked out of Mags, his face immediately shifts to pure panic and confusion?

Look at this poor baby!! Those haters claiming what you mentioned above is insane!!! What are they so mad at him for??
I have seen and heard multiple times now, that people compare Magnifico's sitution to an addiction. While I do agree on some points, I got to say, that Magnifico wasn't addicted. In his case, he was heavily traumatized from his childhood and the fear that came from it forced him to the book, because he panicked. He didn't even want to use the book! And then, he got possessed by that evil entity and controlled like a puppet. No way did that feel good. That demon in him was throwing a party because he was like "Yes! Finally a vessel I can control to kill, steal and destroy! I won!" No sir! I can't imagine how Magnifico must have suffered in his own body, suppressed by that entity! Not to scare anyone but I've seen demons manifest in people and that shit ain't a drug high, that is torture!
Makes it a 100 times worse that the people of Rosas including Amaya, Asha etc. Turned on him with the snap of a finger. He was only a source for a favor for them all. And the fact no one had an idea that he was possessed isn't an excuse for them either. They didn't care for him. And even those who might have realized something is wrong, stayed silent!!! And watched. Their king, who constantly gave and gave and gave, went out of his ways to help his people the best way possible, made a life of luxury possible for them, needed their help desperately and they turned away!
Also, what do these haters think paying no rent or taxes means?? 99% of the time, money was the one thing that brought a person status and power. Other kings sat on their gold like greedy dragons, while Magnifico doesn't give a flying fart for money. If he did, he would have taken taxes like any other king and let the people pay rent! The people of Rosas had to pay for nothing!!
He was simply too good for them all! That ungrateful, greedy, ignorant, compassionless, egoistical, entiteled, selfish bunch of hypocrites!
And yes, you are not alone with your anger! We defenders are all in this together! đâ¨ď¸
Okay, so, I've seen a lot of people defend Magnifico using scenes from the beginning of the movie, as if you people can't find excuses for his actions towards the end
Fear not, defenders! I'm here to talk about King Magnifico, using signs and proofs that the guy in the end, was not our beloved King
Starting with: His colors
Now, some might ask, 'what do you mean, colors?' and I will respond, 'his magic's colors'

Magnifico's magic has always been blue, from the beginning of the movie, TILL, he started using that book

And, oh, what's that color? Green? Just like the one his magic transforms into in the end?

Yes. That green.
Just a proof that this guy wasn't Magnifico. Sure, it was him, but he was under the command of the book, it wasn't truly him attacking everyone like that
Now, moving on, shall we, people?
This one is a bit obvious, don't know if anyone already pointed it out, but ever since his very first appearance, his hair was perfect, he ALWAYS ensured it was perfect. Even if it went unkempt, he would adjust it back

But, oh my gosh, what is that?

Unkempt hair, I see.
Look me in the eye and tell me Magnifico knew what he was doing, when he didn't adjust his hair once under the spell of that book
Trauma and Protectiveness in Wish and Encanto
So, I watched Wish...
I don't think Wish needed a villain. In fact, I would have liked the film to follow the approach of Encanto (which I loved very much) because they both have points in common.
Yes, I will compare Abuela and MagnĂfico, two characters who, despite their differences, share similar problems.
Abuela went through a deep trauma in which she lost her home and her husband and had to raise her triplets alone while guiding her community as the bearer of the candle with the miracle that saved them, which originated from the sacrifice of her husband.
This trauma left her afraid of losing everything again, her family and her home. For her, the miracle was what protected them from doom. Therefore, she saw the miracle as the most important thing of all. She also saw it as her responsibility to serve the community with the magic of the miracle.
This made her become very strict and demanding, putting a lot of pressure on her family to be perfect and to serve the community with their abilities at all times.
What they could do became more important than who they were.
This is what caused the destruction of their home and their family relationships.
Magnifico also suffered a trauma, losing absolutely everything â his home and his family. However, he decided to dedicate his life to helping others and preventing them from suffering the same as he did. So he works hard to learn magic and build a kingdom from scratch with his own hands where everyone is welcome and he was very successful at it.
(yes, this is a very good character we have here)
His trauma, like Abuela's, made him afraid that tragedy would happen again.
His way of dealing with it was to take all this responsibility and pressure of caring and protecting and put it on himself and no one else. Carrying it all on his shoulders.
He will only do what he thinks is safe. And since we have trauma involved, he has his own safety measures. He becomes overprotective. (I can talk more about this in another post haha)
He would do everything he could for them because he didn't want them to feel pain and sadness. That was his motivation.
And that's not healthy either.
He sounds a lot like a family man who lost everything when he was young, someone who grew up in need and had to work hard to create a successful life. A story of overcoming.
So he starts a family. He wants them to have a good life and not suffer the pain he suffered. He protects them. He gives them everything he can. He does everything for them. Everything he didn't have when he was younger he will give them. Because he knows the pain of lack.
But then he ends up spoiling his children and being overprotective.
There are many parents like that.
The tendency is for the children to become spoiled, ungrateful and dependent.
They will not appreciate what they receive because they do not have to work for it. Everything was handed to them on a silver platter without effort. They also start to think they deserve to have everything handed to them just because yes. So they expect to get more and more. Give me! give me!
That's exactly how the people of Rosas were.
They expected their king to give them everything and more because, well, he did.
For them, the most important thing was what the king could do for them.
I really wish they had gone the route of Encanto.
At the end of the movie, when the house falls down, Abuela acknowledges her mistakes and Mirabel shows empathy by acknowledging her pain and all her work. She says something like âNothing is so broken that we canât fix it, togetherâ and they reconcile. It was beautiful. After that, everyone comes together to rebuild, with the help of the community as a gesture of gratitude for everything the family has done for them.

If the ending of Wish had been one of understanding, reconciliation and respect, it would have been so good.
And it would have achieved the productionâs idea that you should work for your goals.
The people of Rosas would have learned gratitude, respect, and to work and strive for their goals alone.
MagnĂfico would have learned to take a step back and let his people try to achieve their goals alone. Let them succeed on their own, let them feel the sadness and pain of failure because that is part of the process and part of life. And don't carry everything on his shoulders.
Of course, he can still help, but in a different way depending on each case.
He is a wise king after all.
The king's fate at the end of Wish
The ending of "Wish" would be perfect for a story that shows the victim breaking free from the control of a pathological narcissist.
Typically, a narcissist's biggest victim is their spouse. In this case, Amaya.
So, in the end, he loses his power, ending up in the mirror where he will be trapped forever, alone in a dungeon.
Narcissists have no redemption. The right way to deal with a narcissist is to use the gray stone technique and cut all ties with them. Their end is loneliness.
That's a great message for a movie to convey.

But that's not the case with Magnifico.
I can't see him as the pathological narcissist that the ending required, simply because he had no malice. Instead, we have someone who cares and shows empathy and respect for others.
Real narcissists are incapable of empathy. They are evil and enjoy causing pain. That's their pleasure. And no, he wasn't faking it. He was genuine. The movie itself tells us that he was good, but then he âturned bad.â Thatâs not how narcissists work. They were never good to begin with.
Itâs a complicated subject. Many people can be mistaken for narcissists because of certain bad, idiotic, and immature behaviors. But they are not really narcissists because they can overcome this and become better people. Narcissists donât change and donât want to change, they donât think theyâre wrong. Thatâs why they have no redemption.
Letâs look at Amaya, who his victim should be if he were truly a narcissist. Narcissists deceive and manipulate their victims into bonding, often through marriage. Then they show their true colors once the victim is trapped with them. They make their victimâs life miserable, disregard them, step on them, oppress them, and make them feel guilty about it. The only opinion that matters is their own. They know what theyâre doing and they enjoy it.
Amaya and Magnifico have been married for years and⌠none of that happens. He genuinely loves her, shows her love, and respects her, her opinion matters, and he listens to her, changes his actions when she asks him to, gives her credit, and praises her. And he does all this when theyâre alone, with no one to watch the âshow.â Heâs genuine.

He genuinely cares about people and wants to protect them; thatâs his motivation. He showed empathy for Ashaâs pain over the loss of her father and shared his own pain with her.
The movie needed the book with the curse for him to do bad things because without it he wouldnât. And he was already known as the most powerful sorcerer. Why not use that power?
Because they needed a curse. đ
I donât understand why they did it that way. They just had to make the guy a true pathological narcissist. Since they didnât do that, the movie pissed off a lot of people because the ending was unfair. Usually, unfairness makes people angry.
Did he have a problem? He did. But it wasnât pathological narcissism. I already talked about his problem in my previous post.
A perfect example of a pathological narcissist in a position of power is Fire Lord Ozai from "Avatar: The Last Airbender". No one was sad when he was arrested and sentenced to life in prison.
An example of a narcissist in the mother position is Mother Gothel. She gaslighted, treated Rapunzel badly, and left her feeling guilty and afraid.
Gaston is also one. He doesn't care about Belle's opinion. He doesn't care about stepping on people. Many people compare Gaston to Magnifico because of the cringe compliments in the mirror. But really put them next to each other and compare how they see and treat people.
When a narcissist loses, usually, he explodes in fury and revenge and curses everyone.
What we got was someone betrayed by everyone, devastated with sad kicked puppy eyes. (WHY????!!) đ

The movie shows that if it weren't for the cursed book he wouldn't have done any of that. If the wish system was bad, they could have resolved it peacefully.
Because he was completely redeemable, the ending was very ugly and unpleasant. It painted all the other characters as really bad, traitors, ungrateful, and selfish. Who only care about their own interests and gain.
In short: a tragedy.
Cursed Villain Magnifico Muahaha
Now let's talk about The Curse!

In the beginning, Amaya says the book's curse would control him. Later, Amaya searches the book for a way to free him from this curse. She is not looking to reduce his power, but to free him from the control, because he wouldn't cause any harm if he weren't under the curse's influence.
However, when she reads the evil book, she discovers that there is no way to break the curse.
"I am the great one and my power is greater than anything. Donât even try." â source: Evil Book about itself.
So, Amaya simply gives up because the source is considered very reliable and she sees no other options.
"Aw, so sad, anyway"
What is this??? I can think of 2 or 3 ways to break this curse. However, no one tried anything, and after that, they acted as if he had always been like this.
Amaya could have saved the day, but instead, she acted bizarrely and without emotion. She didn't even lament. It was scary and strange.
Changing the subject, you know whatâs funny? He is being controlled by an Evil Curse, but even so, he doesnât show himself to be a real danger.
(The script weakened him so that Asha wouldnât be defeated the moment he saw her.)
So we end up with a silly guy walking around with messy hair, playing pranks, and making jokes that only he finds funny.
The worst he did was consume wishes, which is bad, but it only made people sad. And it was easily undone later. He didnât send anyone to the dungeons or exile either.
In the final battle, what did he do? He put his face on everything that reflected, trapped the star, created a cloud to prevent another star from being brought, painted the place with rose thorns (without actual thorns) with magic slime, and stuck people to the ground.

His attacks only pushed people without causing any damage. When he was losing, he released green smoke on people. No one even coughed.
(Oh Look! They could have broken the curse here but they chose to wish for ''something more'' for themselves.)

He squeezed Asha with magic and threw her to the ground. He didnât threaten to push Asha off the tower like any normal villain would.
He also doesnât attack Asha for revenge when he realizes he lost. And she was right there next to him.
Then, when he was trapped in the mirror he didn't seem so cursed anymore, what happened? idk
No one cared about him anyway.
Sooo... what was he planning to do with all the accumulated power? He didnât have a clear objective. He didn't even say he wanted to conquer other lands or do anything.
What if no one had done anything in the end? What would he do?
I think he would vent his frustrations with a speech, maybe a reprise of "This is the thanks I get?" and then send everyone home grounded to "think about their bad behavior and ingratitude."
Most of the people agree that he was a very bad villain. He should have been more dangerous. Which is weird, because isnât it a powerful curse thatâs in control?
I concluded that this is the maximum evil the curse can make him achieve.
I find this very funny because I imagine The Curse being very frustrated.
This reminds me of this: (she's a robot)

That's it. This is how I see MagnĂficoâs case now.

Am I the only one who thinks so or did you also notice the tremor in his voice?
Maybe I am paying too much attention...
This explains things even further. I would like to see how haters want to continue..
The King's Fall
Thereâs something important Iâd like to share about this story.
The king, deeply shaken and worried about an unknown threat, feels the weight of being the sole protector of his kingdom. His trauma from past experiences and the fear of possibly not being able to deal with this danger consume him. He turns to the resources at his disposal but finds no answers. The only remaining option he can think of is the forbidden book. But then his wife suggests asking for help from the people of Rosas, an idea he accepts.

The king summons the people, asking for their help identifying the traitor threatening the kingdom. He asks them only to provide information so that he can deal with it himself.
But once the questions begin and someone says the trigger word âwishâ, everyone quickly forgets about the urgent matter and starts asking about wishes. They question the kingâs competence in protecting their wishes and begin clamoring for a new wish ceremony.
âCan you hold a wish ceremony? Weâd be happy.â
âCan you hold a ceremony today?â
âCan you hold a ceremony NOW?â
With everyone talking at once, it was disrespectful and inconsiderate. Naturally, the king would be irritated.
(What do you think this is? Christmas?)
Bringing order and demanding silence, he asks if all they can think about is the wish ceremony, and they confirm that yes, all they think about is the wish ceremony.
The disappointment and irritation are obvious.
In his frustration, he makes a deal: those who help him will be rewarded with a wish, but those who help the traitor will not. This was quite sensible, as they donât seem inclined to be helpful otherwise.

So⌠the worst thing that can happen to traitors is not having their wish granted by the king they betrayed⌠no imprisonment? no banishment? OkayâŚ
The movie makes it seem like he was irrational and overreacted by getting upset. However, it doesnât take much to realize that the peopleâs behavior was incredibly annoying; he has every right to be irritated.
Amaya says they acted this way because the king made them comfortable enough to do so. Which is true. They were very comfortable and complacent.
So, he goes out to vent and de-stress alone, which is perfectly reasonable?

Heâs at the height of his stress and irritation, disappointed with his people. Add the past trauma. Thereâs an unknown threat, and heâs the only one who can defend the kingdom. Seeing no other options, since heâs already tried everything he can think of, he turns to the last resort: the forbidden book. His strong emotions clouded his vision and judgment. He made a hasty and poor decision, which was his mistake, and he ended up cursed.
That said, Iâd like to share a piece of life advice that applies to everyone.
Never make any decisions when youâre emotionally shaken, especially important decisions.
When youâre overwhelmed by your emotions, it clouds your vision and judgment. You canât see the big picture, and reality becomes blurred. If you act hastily, unless a miracle happens, youâll most likely make a bad decision that youâll regret later.
Even the most altruistic person can make mistakes under the impact of emotions, making poor decisions that negatively affect those around them and themselves.
You can be stressed, you can be angry. Take some time for yourself and do whatever helps you de-stress. But donât make any decisions in that state. Calm yourself first. Then, yes, carefully analyze your options and make a decision. Donât be hasty.
Therefore, itâs essential for everyone to learn and develop the ability to manage their emotions properly. Developing emotional intelligence and self-control is crucial for living a balanced and wise life. Live wisely, and you will live well.
If trauma is involved, the challenge is even greater, as it directly attacks your emotions and judgment, distorting reality further. It is crucial that you seek to work through and heal from your trauma, no matter how big or small, so that it does not control you and your life.
You are not your emotions.
You are not your trauma.
Donât let these things control you.
You are greater than all of this, even if you donât feel like it is true. The truth is, you can win and overcome all of these things.
Thank you for reading. Take care and be well. đ

They: NAH, you say this because he is too handsome and charming and you fell sorry for his past story and he lies and blah blah blah.. he is a villain cuz Disney said so.
Okay but it's not about surface-level charm, it's about the character's inner motivations and actions.
And I have to say we stand by our research and conclusion.
Exactly what I was thinking, thank you.
Let someone from the opposite sect dare and - like us - bring deep evidence and prove that he is a villain! I like to see them try!
