My friend doesn't have any socials to tag but he made me an amazing piece of my Mando 😭.

Her name is Zay Rau and she's a slicer and mechanic at heart, much more comfortable behind a datascreen or under a Starship than in an actual battle

So- I was influenced by my friends to make a Mando OC but with my own lil' spin. It my own "species". I'll upload some more about her and about her planet soon enough! I'm so happy with how her design turned out 💕

HELP ME FIND AN ARTIST

A few years ago I came across a Mandalorian oc I really liked. I’m pretty sure I follow the artist but I can’t remember them.

The oc wore navy/dark blue armour with bright coloured patterns, I remember this being because they’re both dead inside and a bit chaotic.

The oc was also depicted around Mando/ Din Djaryn a lot.

I swear this wasn’t intentional, but the wives’ hair colors matched their husband’s skin color and tattoo colors

Some Val x Savage ramblings/headcanon tidbits

Val and Savage comparing hand sizes all the time

Savage being afraid to handle her because of how much bigger he was compared to her

Savage getting himself injured or getting a small cut on purpose just so he could be around Val and appreciate her medical work

Savage rubbing the sides of her head where the shaved undercut part of her hairstyle is and her closing her eyes to enjoy the sensation

Val rubbing and massaging his shoulders when she can sense the amount of stress and self-doubt he’s feeling

Savage holding Val close to him and letting out a defensive roar towards anyone willing to hurt her

And him throwing himself on top of her to shield her

Bio:

Daughter of an ex-soldier father and a hunter mother, Val was no stranger to the ways of combat and hunting, yet she was also drawn to the healing practices of medics. She is the eldest of six other siblings, all of whom were also trained to fight and hunt as a means of survival.

Val entered the Mandalorian Medical Guild at 12 years of age after passing a series of tests to qualify as a medic in-training. While qualifying was not as difficult, it was the studying, field and hands-on training that required more effort from her and her fellow Mandalorian colleagues. At 19, the final test that would determine only 5% of the candidates to obtain the title of “Doctor”, was enough to make Val nervous yet determined to pass.

In her small group of 10, Val was the only one to pass by one point.

Being a medic was no easy paying job when you travel throughout the galaxy, and despite taking a vow to never harm or take a life, Val found a new means of collecting bounties to pay for necessities, fuel, and ship repairs: putting bounty patients under anesthesia.

But what put Val on the edge of breaking away from her healer vows was the accidental overdosing of a bounty instead of sedating him, yet was paid more for his death. Val took a bit of time to eventually come to terms with what she was capable of doing and began more rigorous studies of different species to concoct certain medical poisons to essentially euthanize bounties.

Val continued this practice for nearly a decade until she had found a bounty worth millions, if not billions of credits: a yellow Zabrakian male with brown tattoos from Dathomir by the name of Savage Opress.

She accepted the bounty and while she did locate the planet he most likely was last scene in, she took a side step to explore an abandoned temple, obviously in awe at the beauty of the place. She made up for her small error when she heard someone approach her from behind.

Val and Savage had a brief quarrel before Val eventually had the upper hand due to her size compared to him and disarmed him. However, she felt something in her that told her not to kill him or turn him in, and offered to allow herself to provide medical care for both him, and his brother Darth Maul.

Val stayed with the Zabrakian brothers up until the very end of Savage’s life; and she was never able to tell Savage she was carrying his child. She was left as a heart broken single mother of their beautiful daughter Mara living on Koboh as the Rambler’s Reach Outpost’s newly appointed sheriff, working with Doma to keep the peace.

Thinking how Val would live long enough to see the fall of the Empire and also be like a general for the Rebellion after enough convincing

But she gets emotional after some meetings and briefings with Ryder Azadi because “Shit, this man sounds exactly like my dead husband old friend Savage…”

Probably ran into Din Djarin and lowkey adopts him after accidentally trying to kill him and therefore gives him a sister and also becomes a grandma by association with Grogu

Also Probably gives Luke pointers on how to make Din happy

And has that fifth mom sense that she already knew Din and Luke were dating before Din said anything to her

And her live action self in that era would be portrayed by Winona Ryder

Savage has a hard time opening up about his true feelings for Val so much so that every moment with her he doesn’t speak to her about it kills him inside. He’s so not used to being treated with the kindness and being treated like an actual person she offers him that he actually physically pushed her away thinking she was just going to use him like how Asajj and the Nightsisters had done to him.

He’s most likely too scared to open up to her when she allows him to speak his mind, because of all the manipulation he had been put through. He doesn’t want Val to end up using him like everyone else has done, but at the same time, he would have done anything to allow this woman to enter his heart. He’s so frightened of her, yet he’s fallen so hard in love with her, he can’t tell what he wants.

In their main canon story, Val had no idea about the amount of trauma and abuse done to him by the women on Dathomir, and understandably gets frustrated with him wondering why he “acts like a total ass” to her when she’s only trying to help him. Come to think of it, with the fact he does have a more higher leadership position as a Nightbrother within his clan, I doubt he would really be open at first about his problems towards anyone besides Feral.

Yet every moment he’s with Val, and he actually takes the time to realize she doesn’t mean any harm to him (with the exception of their first meeting when she almost killed him for a bounty score), he sees how much he was wrong about her. He starts to see she truly does want to better understand him, and let him feel… uh, “human” (for a lack of a better term), and that’s when he truly begins to feel that sense of yearning and longing for her.

It’s even worse when you take into consideration how basically everyone in the Galaxy just sees Savage as a “monster”, and, personally, it only makes Savage angry with himself and probably hate himself for what he’s become. Yet, this Mandalorian bounty hunter, a woman half his size, was able to slowly get that wall he’s built up around him towards her to crumble and understand he was never like that before his transformation.

Val starts to see the man he truly used to be, and with a long rocky road, allowed him to let that former self resurface, but only when it’s just them. She knows better than to really push that out when he wasn’t ready to be more vulnerable with others than he would like.

Val has seen so much trauma of all kinds from physical to emotional as a medic, that, to an extent, Savage wasn’t that much different than most of the patients she’s had before (except the bounty ones). However, that doesn’t mean she still won’t treat him any differently than any of her past patients.

And what’s funny is that, yes, the two are both first borns, but their upbringings are so vastly different. Val was brought up in a more loving and accepting home environment that still taught her survival and how to fight, whereas Savage was all about fighting for your life and survival, while enduring manipulation and abuse by the Nightsisters (and to the extent Mother Talzin). I can’t imagine Savage might actually feel jealous, maybe even envious, when he sees a full on family photo of Val’s family, and seeing how much her parents love her and her little siblings.

It’s even worse when he finds individual photos of Val and her father; way worse when it’s Val and her mother. He wipes off the tear that fell on the frame seeing the two women smiling, evident of how tight their bond is.
