I'm a big Marauders fan, and I have been for more than 2 years now. I basically only post about them. It goes without saying, but I don't support jkr in any kind of way.

I feel like the only character we see being depicted as having an ed in the Marauders fandom is Regulus (and sometimes Sirius) because of the way they were raised, but the girls are never struggling with it. Which is completely irrealistic, since girls are very very often the victims of eds (not saying that men are never affected by them, but it's less often).

I have an eating disorder myself, I've had both binge eating disorder and anorexia (currently recovering from the latter) and it just makes so much sense to me for girls to have/have had an ed.

Writing eating disorders can be very complicated, especially if you've never had one, but even if you have, capturing the complete obsession that food becomes through words can be very hard, but I'm still disappointed that I've never read a single fic in which it's even mentionned. I get that it's a sensitive subject, but like... Not even a single hint at it is very disappointing to me

Here's some of my fav hcs:

I've always pictured Lily as having binge eating disorder, I can see so much of me in her, (craving academic validation, overworking herself, feeling like a burden, sibling issues, etc) and to me she binges as a form of comfort, whenever she feels sad or angry or just a little down she binges on anything she can find. She binges until she feels sick and sometimes throw up because her stomach just can't take it. She always feels guilty and always tells herself she'll stop but always comes back to it all throughout her (sadly short) life.

For Mary, I feel like her family has always taught her to love her body and that size doesn't matter but she still fell in the trap of anorexia in her teenage years (another thing I can relate to lol) and she feels so bad for telling people to just accept themselves and eat as much as they need when she herself starves herself and hates her body. She cries over not having a thigh gap and oversexualise herself to get compliments because let's be honest, when you have anorexia you live off of other's perception of you. She feels validated and happy when people tell her she looks worrying.

Marlene, to me, does have a weird relatonship with her body, but she never had an ed. She plays quidditch regularly and has a pretty fast metabolism, so she's naturally skinny compared to Lily or Mary, so weight isn't a problem to her. Her biggest problem is that she has the biggest case of body disphmorphia. If she closes her eyes she couldn't picture herself in her mind even if she tried. She's always wearing oversized clothes and avoiding mirrors because looking at her own body is confusing, if not even scary to her. She doesn't have a clue what she looks like and she hates when people comment on her looks, positively or negatively.

Here's some of my other headcanons for the Marauders girls' relationships with food/their body! Part 1, where I explain myself and go over Lily, Mary & Marlene, is here. This time it's the Black sisters because, to me, the Black sisters all had a very complicated relationship with their body and body autonomy because of how they were raised.

Narcissa: I've always hc all three sisters as having grown up doing ballet, but to me, Narcissa is the only one who actually loved it and continued doing it in her teenagehood. Her ballet teachers monitored her weight very closely, and she wasn't allowed to go above or below a certain weight. Because of this, I think that all of her life she obsessively tracks her weight and forces herself to eat when it's too low and starve when it's too high. Into adulthood, she feels like she has to keep everything under control and her weight is one of the easiest things to control to her so stepping on a scale, to her, is sort of a comfort, a reminder that she does have things under control.

Bellatrix: Bellatrix took the phrase "your body is your vessel" a little too seriously. Like Marlene, if she closed her eyes, she couldn't picture herself, but unlike Marlene she doesn't fear mirrors at all, but she loves them. She spent hours staring at herself, nitpicking what's "good" and what's not. She views her body as a means to an end, she knows what clothes and what makeup will make her look more innocent or more desirable and she uses it to her advantage, but it is not her. She doesn't view her body as a representation of herself, but as a tool.

Andromeda: Andromeda, unlike Bellatrix, sees her body as something she must protect at all cost because it is her. It is her human form and who she is. Her sister used her body to do/get anything her mind wanted, she didn't care about the damage, but Andromeda cares too much about the damage. In the same way that she would have never did something damaging/disgraceful to her body, she would never put something in her body that she didn't see as healthy. She refuses anything with sugar and any processed foods because to her eating that "unhealthy" stuff, is disgracing her own body, therefore herself. I think as a child she was pretty loud and her parents put her under the Imperio curse to just calm her down for a few hours, and as a result of that trauma she became afraid of losing her body autonomy. She must have control over her body, otherwise she gets crazy panic attacks.

Sirius Black who wants to change his appearance after he runs away because he doesn't like looking like his family, but he's too scared to dye his hair because he doesn't wanna ruin it. He reads in one of Effie's magazines that putting lemon in your hair and exposing it to the sun lightens it so he does it for the entire summer and when he goes back to Hogwarts his hair is almost golden <3

Barty Crouch Jr that just never takes medication. No painkillers, nothing when he's sick, etc. Exept in rare cases where Regulus forces a pill down his throat, this man will literally never take a pill by himself.

Not because he's scared of it, not because he thinks he's better than medication, but because phisical suffering is almost normalized to him and he just doesn't care to make it better. He's an angsty bitch who would rather lay sick in bed and mope around rather than take a painkiller and go to sleep

I love unperfect Lily Evans. I love selfish Lily Evans. I love Lily Evans who holds grudges for the longest time for the smallest things. I love Lily Evans who judges people's outfits silently. I love "bitchy" Lily Evans. I love jealous Lily Evans. I love Lily Evans with a dry and sarcastic humour. I love socially awkward Lily Evans. I love Lily Evans who's childish sometimes. I love Lily Evans who only cared about her reputation as a teen. I love judgemental and snarky Lily Evans. I love Lily Evans who had an eating disorder. I love Lily Evans who has grown up homophobic and would be very openly homophobic in her teen years to hide the fact she liked girls. I love Lily Evans that is not the "perfect woman" created from a misogynistic point of view. She has flaws too, canon is misogynistic, don't swear by it.

Marauders college au where Sirius is a graphic design major and everytime James does/says something stupid he threatens to draw him pregnant

James is smart! He's the gifted kid who has the best grades without studying. He reads for fun, and he knows fancy words, and he has a lot of random knowledge he just pulls out of nowhere during conversation. He brags about it a lot, he thinks he's sooo smart and intelligent because everyone tells him he is and he brags about never studying and always having good grades. This man is Euphemia and Monty Potter's son, he is educated. I'm sick of people characterising him as a dumb himbo just to make Regulus/Lily look smarter. They can be smart together yk, I actually think smart jock x smart nerd is a better dynamic than smart nerd x dumb himbo.

Thinking about how all the Marauders would've been total losers if they were gen z. Like, a guy that dresses like a grandpa, a wannabe rockstar obsessed with Queen, a nerd that would 1000% love Spiderman too much and a chess champion? Not to mention that most of them are gay? Losers (affectionate)
