This one took me forever, and I had a way different vision in mind when I started than what I have now. It was my first time really experimenting with perspective like this. There's always room to improve, but I like it enough to post.

18 Zuke and Mayday!
18. Squishing the other's cheek

Zuke has known Mayday for a good few years now and those years have taught him some important things about his band mate and best friend.
“Zuuuuuke.”
For example, to never ever trust what happens when May made that expression with that tone of voice.
“Yeeees?” Zuke cautiously asked as he lowered his magazine
Having successfully gotten his attention, May plopped down on the couch next to Zuke.
“So I was wondering something. Ever since that last encounter with your brother...”
“Okay?”
“What was up with the zonkey recording?”
Immediately Zuke covered his face with the magazine and groaned.
He was willing to let that stupid recording be a dumb inside joke with him and West. But May? Absolutely not!
“Oh come on, Zuke, I just wanna know. You know unlike your brother, I can actually keep a secret! Pleeeeease?”
“Why do you want to know so bad?”
“Cause it's gonna bug me if I never find out!”
At least she's honest… and it's not like it's this deep shameful secret, just something embarrassing from his childhood. Besides, knowing the context doesn’t really make things worse so…
“Alright, the short story is “I was ten and I lost a bet.””
“And the long story?”
Zuke sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose before continuing.
“So when I was like four or five, I was super into zonkeys. I thought they were the coolest animal ever since they were a mix of two different animals.
“Zonkeys.”
“This coming from the grown woman who was upset over the unicorn at the Natura district being a guy in a costume.”
“Hey! At least unicorns have cool horns. Zonkeys are just weird looking donkeys with stripes.”
Zuke couldn't help but laugh at May's reaction to his teasing.
“Yeah well I was a kid living in a little sleepy kampung, it didn't take much to impress me. But I kind of got over it when I was older. Unfortunately no one told one of my aunts who made me a zonkey costume years later.”
“Oh… oh no…”
“Yeah you can tell where this is going.”
“So what was the bet?”
“Honestly I don't even remember what it was. I just remember that the loser had to wear the costume and do a song and dance. And yeah that loser ended up being me.”
Mayday stared at Zuke briefly before bursting into a fit of giggles.
“Wow, you must have been preeetty confident to take on whatever bet you did.”
“Nah, I think I just really wanted to embarrass West. Didn't help that he was just hitting his growth spurt at the time so the thought of him trying to fit into the costume was hilarious to me”
At that, May laughed harder. When she finally stopped, she smiled at Zuke and it was at this point that Zuke noticed that May… apparently moved closer when he was telling the story. She was practically sitting in his lap now.
“Is it terrible of me to think how cute you probably looked in that costume?”
“C-cute?”
May proceeded to squish Zuke’s cheeks, “Little Zukie the zonkey.~”
Under normal circumstances, Zuke would have already gently pushed May off and got off the couch but something about their position and May calling him cute just froze him in place.
Thankfully like a scaly little angel saving him from… whatever this moment was, Ellie let out a hungry chirp echoing from downstairs.
“Uh heh, I think it's your turn to feed Ellie this time.” Zuke said
“Yeah, yeah.”
May stood up and turned towards Zuke.
“Hey, after I feed Ellie, let’s get some dinner at the Hideaway. I’ll share one of my dumb childhood stories since you told me yours. Sound good?”
“Yeah, sounds good. I’ll get ready in a minute.”
With that, May finally made her way to the stairs, shouting to Ellie that “mommy was coming with num nums.” Once Zuke was sure that May was out of eye and ear shot, he grabbed a pillow from the couch and screamed into it.
He could still feel the warmth on his face from where May touched him.

Fluff: 1. What are things they both find funny?
Hilariously wrong tabloids. Even better now that they're public figures, so sometimes they'll get a wildly incorrect article written about Them, and it's always a riot Zuke: So, Who am I cheating on you with this week? Mayday: Apparently, you were caught last night sneaking out of... Oh My God, Club Planetarium! Zuke, scandalized: No... Mayday: Zuke, how could you? Zuke: I'm sorry Mayday, you know how attracted I am to humility! Zuke & Mayday: ....Pffft, HAHAHAHA- They will also laugh at harmless, petty celebrity drama, dumb internet memes, and terrible, terrible puns
2. If they could each describe each other in one sentence, what would it be?
"Whenever Mayday needs to make a decision between what her brain and her heart are telling her, she will pick her heart every time, and she's usually right." "A lot of people think Zuke is dumb 'cause he's quiet, but he just spends a lot of time in his head, thinkin' about stuff like music, art... the people he cares about..."
6. What is/are their love language(s)?
Mayday is a very Physically Touchy person. If Zuke is in one place for too long she will lay across him. It doesn't matter if he's sitting down at his drums to practice, it's canoodling time. She reacts very strongly to Words of Affirmation (See the 1010 fight), and will frequently give Gifts to Zuke of anything that reminds her of him, and squeals like a schoolgirl whenever she receives a gift in turn Zuke not only picked up on Mayday's Words of Affirmation response, but he also has that love language, and puts a lot of thought into what he says (He may not be the talkative one of the duo, but he makes his words count). He values Quality Time, and wants to spend all of it with May. But most of all, his love comes through in Acts of Service.
Angst: 9. Have they made each other cry?
Ah yes, Mayday, known the city over for taking rejection well. I buy into the common headcanon that May has some form of ADHD, and I also sprinkle in that she experiences Rejection Sensitive Dysphoria. Because of this, she can feel a disproportionate amount of emotional pain if she feels like she's getting the cold shoulder from Zuke, which sucks because she knows that she's probably overreacting, which just makes her feel worse... As for Zuke, he's only ever cried because of May once... after the argument where she broke his sticks. Both of them agree that incident was the worst argument of their relationship, and both of them feel awful about it. May especially. She regretted it as soon as the structural integrity of the sticks failed. It was the first night since before they bunked their beds where they slept in separate rooms...
Depth: 17. What senses (sights, smells, feelings, etc). remind them of each other?
Zuke thinks of Mayday every time he sees a warm sunrise, vibrant flowers as pink as her eyes. He thinks of her whenever he smells or tastes sweet, tangy fruit and fresh cinnamon. He feels her in campfire and candle flames, in thick leather and the groove of old vinyls Mayday thinks of Zuke every time she sees the ocean, or a crystal clear stream. She smells him in delicate mints and earthy teas, and feels him running her hands through tall weeds or cool, running water. And of course, they hear each other. Whenever Zuke hears the hum of electricity, the crackle of a campfire, or the roar of a great predator, he hears her. Whenever Mayday hears the rain pelting against the city street, the thunder rolling through the sky, or the rumble of the City's districts moving, she hears him And finally, when the guitar reaches its climax.... when the drums kick in and make the song its own.... whenever they discover a new rock album, or listen back on what they've created.... They envision their partner, wielding their instrument with pride and passion, and themselves up on stage with them.

good lord some of these have been marinating for like 3+ months
the first artwork is probably the longest i've spent on something yet (like a week of on-and-off attention? and then another few days of tweaking and polishing things) mostly because i am so not used to doing painting & perspective like that and i have learned two valuable lessons:
1. gmod and blender are GODSENDS when it comes to D.I.Y-ing my own reference material
2. it is O.K to not be totally satisfied with the result . (however i do still think it's really good for something so far out of my comfort zone🔥🔥)
also ... zukebob image is an inside joke between me And my bestie ...

21. How have they changed each other for the better/for the worse?
Oooooooh buddy I have been waiting for this one
Zuke was used to being in the background. He was always in the shadow of people far more outgoing, far more talented, and far more courageous than him, and he didn't think Mayday would be any different.
Weather she knew it or not, Nadia had trained Zuke to be in the background- stay in his lane, provide the backing beat while the melody shone. So imagine his surprise when Mayday encourages him to go all out, to play just as passionately as her guitar, to stand beside her as an equal, a bandmate... a partner.
The more time he spent with Mayday, the more surefooted Zuke felt. Even if he's still a little camera shy, he's more confident, willing to speak his mind. Mayday has a way of brightening the lives of everyone around her, and Zuke is proud to stand with her in the light.
As for Mayday... well, if you asked her, she'd say that Zuke saved her life.
The two of them had met eachother at probably the lowest point in their lives; Zuke had just run away from Rapturika, and Mayday was hungrier and lonlier than she had ever been.
She was so sure that her solo career was going to take off at anytime, that she was going to be loved by everyone and get the validation she so desperately needed.
After getting to know Zuke, getting closer to him, she began to really open up to him. When her emotions began to spiral out of control, instead of being caught in a desperate fight between repressing her feelings or being completely submerged in them, there was someone there who was able to ground her, who was able to provide a means of escape.
Mayday doesn't feel the need to take on the entire world by herself anymore. She doesn't think she'd be playing music today if she didn't have Zuke.

6. What is their favorite feature of their partner’s?
For Mayday, she's aware that Zuke puts a lot of effort into his appearance. She likes to play with Zuke's hair, since it's so bouncy and soft and well-maintained, and he's very proud of it, so it's always shiny and clean. However, her absolute favorite part is Zuke's chest. It's well defined, strong, and perfect for laying her head on, and when she puts her ear to it she can hear his heartbeat pounding as strong as his kickdrum, and it always puts her at ease. As for Zuke, his favorite part is... Well, everything that makes Mayday "Mayday". Every quirk in her appearance makes him smile, from her pointy, twitchy ears to they way her browline tapers into a cute little button nose, to her big, toothy grin that's so wide you can see her gums. But his absolute favorite part is her big, bright, beautiful pink eyes. The floral starbursts that bloom and sparkle whenever she's happy makes his stomach do flips every time. They're so unique and so Mayday, and he could spend the rest of his life just gazing into them
21. Who is more likely to start dancing with the other?
Mayday, 100%. It wouldn't take much prompting, just an upbeat song over the radio or at a show, and she's pulling Zuke to his feet and swinging him around, laughing and singing the whole time. Not that Zuke would mind, though he insists on having two left feet. May would just say it's "Never Stopped Her" and keep the two of them going until they're both sweaty and tired, hearts racing from the exercise.
scenario where Mayday sits and watches Zuke as he maintains his locs/wicks because she knows how much his hair means to him & is dead set on learning how to upkeep it . especially on his behalf for days where he isn't feeling his best
posting this at almost 8:30pm but it's never too late for Buuunk! Bed! Junctioooonn! here are a few things from the past 1.5-ish(??) months or so. there are more maydays and zukes where these came from but i'm saving those for later on ... i hope you enjoy 🤤

okay so. I had a few b2j karaoke song ideas in mind

The latter two WOOUULLDD have been scenarios where Zuke went. like. Totally off the deep end in full in-his-feels mode
"So in the night I stand / Beneath the backstreet light / I read the words, that you sent to me" from Since You Been Gone
i would have drawn it comic-style with him in an actual backstreet underneath a streetlight with the words off to the side or something. Dramatic lighting and all that. No indication of him really singing it
"I can take the afternoon / The nighttime comes around too soon / You can't know what you mean to me"
... until you get to the next panel where Zuke, from Mayday's perspective—and no longer in his imagination—is on his hands and knees in the middle of the lounge while she's off to the side drinking water, watching from afar like "Should i check on him 😅😅😅"
anyways i wanted to share the idea here in case i forget to make it in the future OR if someone else wants to draw it ... See you guys tomorrow ^.^

an hour and 20 minutes after they left the laundromat ... I feel like zuke is the kind of guy who often goes into food comas . On the other hand mayday turns it all DIRECTLY into energy
