On wedding modern day fics

Does anyone know the link or name of the fic on ao3 where arthur is a wedding planner and he meets his client whose is gwen and he assumes merlin is her husband as he's with her for all the wedding planning meeting with arthur but she's getting married to lancelot who a famous (football player?). merlin is an artist if that helps.

merthur fic recs: different first meeting

1. Here at the Altar I’m Letting You Go by messandahalf (@messandahalf10too)

Against Arthur’s will, he is arranged to marry Princess Mithian from Nemeth. A minor problem occurs in Uther’s plan for his son when the regular tailor for the Royal Family falls ill, requiring a replacement to sew Arthur’s wedding attire.

~~~
fahjdkh the pining!!!
2. Woad Blue by MerlinLikeTheBird
They accidentally take over a castle. Well, Gwaine calls it liberating. Merlin’s not sure what to call it—there was a lord, and now there isn’t. (Kanen comes to Ealdor early, and that changes everything.)
~~~

the angst slaps so hard in this fic (though there is still a ton of fluff!)

3. We Can Hide Together, Among the Roses by infinitemerlin

Arthur is supposed to marry Princess Mithian in five days.

And then he meets the wedding’s florist.

Suddenly, he can’t stop thinking about roses and happiness and—does he even deserve all of that?

~~~
ahhh this is so cute!!!
Prompt #11:
College AU
Merlin’s plans for his time at university/college were perfect. He had everything planned out.
That is until the first party where he gets heroically drunk. He wakes up naked, in the middle of the night, on the floor of one of the girl’s dorms to the sight of a towering Morgana looking down on him.
Since I’m a big-ass Merthur shipper I imagine Merlin to have seen Arthur previously in one of his lectures (though they didn’t talk), and later that day talking to Morgana (now thinking they’re a couple).
But it doesn’t need to be Merthur (nor any other ship)
LOVE GROWS (WHEREVER YOU TURN)
LOVE GROWS (WHEREVER YOU TURN)
Lancelot du Lac has never been a man of faith, but the sight of Gwen wearing his clothes and looking so pliant and gentle is something that very nearly brings him to his knees. A pious man at the altar of her body. He can’t find it in himself to hold it against her.
or,
a soft morning with Gwen and a soft evening with Lancelot!
Lancelot du Lac smells like oranges and tastes like sunshine.
The first time Guinevere relayed this observation to Merlin, the other man had nudged her side with his elbow, grinning from ear to ear.
“Oh, so you’re in love love?”
Gwen flicked him on the arm in retaliation.
“Listen, I had to hear you waxing poetic about Arthur for years before you finally got over yourselves. Let me have this, Merlin.”
“I’m only teasing, Gwen. I’m happy for you, truly. And for Lancelot.”
“Really?”
“You and Lancelot are my best friends,” Merlin squeezed her hand gently as he spoke, blue eyes light and playful. “And I’d like to be the pageboy at your wedding.”
He earned himself two more flicks and a pinch for that.
Now, Gwen considers the simple wedding she and Lancelot had, and the small cottage they love each other in and thinks to herself that Merlin was right. She is in love love. All the time, every day. In the evenings, when they make dinner together, in the nights when he whispers that he loves her against her bare skin. In the mornings, like this one, when they’re only half awake.  Loving Lancelot is a wonderful feeling, Gwen thinks. Being loved by him is even better, and the woman knows she wouldn’t change it for the world.
The sound of Lancelot rousing behind her pulls her out of her head.
“Good morning, my love.”
She turns around and it’s at that moment that Gwen knows she will never get used to how Lancelot looks and sounds in the morning. There, in the comfort of their tiny cottage, eyes honey sticky, warm with sleepiness; looking at Guinevere like she’s heaven-sent. Slightly mussed brown curls, low and easy voice. An angel lying sweetly on the soft mattress next to her.
No, Gwen thinks. She will never get used to this.
Oblivious to her inner musings, Lancelot’s arm wraps around her and pulls her closer so that their fronts are touching. He shifts easily then, keeping one hand sweet and soft on her bare waist whilst the other moves to clasp Gwen’s fingers warmly between their bodies. Tugging her to him so that their intertwined hands rest against the place where his heart is beating.
Words aren’t needed for Gwen to understand what he’s trying to say, and she feels herself go hot under his tender gaze. After a beat, she untangles her hand from his grasp to cover her face with it, blushing.
“It’s too early for you to be looking at me like this, Lancelot.”
“Like what, sweetheart?”
At first, his voice is innocent, curious, like he hasn’t the slightest idea of the effect he has on her. But then he carries on, and Gwen realises that Lancelot is fully aware of what he’s doing.
“Like you’re the best thing to ever happen to me? Like the moment I met you, my whole world rearranged and you became its axis?”  His thumb presses circles into her hip gently before slipping under her shirt to trace the underside of her breast making it hard for her to concentrate on what he’s saying.
“No,” he muses. “It is never too early to look at my wife like she is the light of my life.”
“I am going to leave,” Gwen murmurs sitting up, ignoring the way her body craves his touch the moment it’s gone. It’s a warning, but there is no real threat behind her words.
“That’s okay,” Lancelot sounds light and easy when he replies. “Wherever you turn, I will follow.”
Then, he whispers conspiratorially, “Don’t leave just yet though. It’s warm here.”
Gwen laughs out loud at this. Sinking back into the mattress and curling up against him.
“We’ll need to get ready at some point, you know. We’re supposed to meet the others this afternoon, and I have lots to do at the castle, and- are you listening to me?”
Lancelot shakes his head, tender and sweet and ever so slightly teasing., “I am far too busy admiring my wife.”
Gwen snorts and shuffles closer. “Hm, you’re sappier than usual this morning.”
Lancelot’s fingers trace gentle patterns on her shoulder as he replies. “I am a man in love, Guinevere. Can you blame me?”
They have been married for over a year now, but hearing Lancelot so openly profess his love for her still causes the butterflies to take flight once again in Gwen’s stomach.
“I love you too, Lancelot.”
His eyes light up slightly at this and Gwen feels her heart flutter. Despite the fact that nowadays she’s no stranger to telling Lancelot that she loves him, there was a time when she had said it sparingly - too shy and too worried it would be overstepping her place as a servant. Now, she says it often because she knows that with Lancelot she doesn’t need to be shy, and he knows exactly how to chase her worries away.
“What’s going on up there, my love?” The man taps her temple once, twice.
“I’m just happy.”
“Good. Stay like that forever.” Then, Lancelot sits up, and Gwen has to hold back the urge to not laugh at the way his curls stand up at different angles.
“What are you doing?” She makes to sit up too but Lancelot pushes her back down gently.
“I’m going to make my beautiful, wonderful wife some breakfast.” Lancelot leans over her to presses kisses to her temple, then the tip of her nose, and finally her mouth.
“You stay right here, dove,” the words are murmured against her skin. “As pretty as a painting.”
He pulls away then, leaving Gwen with the taste of sunshine on her lips.
_____________________________
Guinevere smells like rosemary and tastes like strawberries and Lancelot tells her this one summer afternoon.
They’re in a meadow on the outskirts of Camelot with their friends, Gwen’s head in his lap as his fingers card through her hair gently. Nearby, Gwaine is talking about his newest conquest - a barmaid at the tavern. Merlin is laughing and Arthur is too. Elyan, Percival, and Leon are sparring good-naturedly in the distance.
Lancelot, however, has eyes only for Gwen. The gentle slope of her jawline. The loose curls that brush over her forehead whenever the wind picks up a little. The pretty pink dress that hugs her figure.
She looks beautiful like this, he thinks. Safe and tender and so lovely that Lancelot is half thinking that he must have made her up.
When he says so, Gwen just shakes her head and laughs, “I’m real, Lance. I’m right here.”
Lancelot brushes a thumb over her cheekbone, smiling down at her. “Sometimes I do not know what I have done to deserve you.”
Then, Lancelot catches the tail end of Gwaine's musings beside him and looks up at his friend who is still rambling about the barmaid.
“She’s so lovely . Her eyes are the warmest brown I’ve ever seen. And her voice, oh it could part the clouds and make sunshine return.”
“And when do you hear her voice, Gwaine?” Merlin’s head is on Arthur's shoulder, hand intertwined with his when he asks.
Gwaine’s reply is lovesick and sappy. “When she’s cutting me off or kicking me out.”
“She kicks you out?” Gwen sits up laughing, pulling herself from Lancelot’s lap and dusting herself off. Lancelot suppressed the urge to protest, missing her already, but Gwen leans her head on his shoulder before he can complain.
“Quite often,” Gwaine smiles dopily in response to Gwen’s question. “It’s how we flirt.”
Arthur looks like he’s about to tell Gwaine that it’s not flirting at all, but Merlin pokes the king in his ribs once and silences him.
It’s a wonderful thing, Lancelot thinks, that they found eachother. He’s about to say so to Gwen, but when he looks down, he finds her eyes shut and her lips slightly parted. Asleep.
Lancelot doesn't have it in him to rouse her, so he stays stock still instead, indulging Gwaine’s antics as his wife sleeps on.
The hours pass and afternoon turns to evening. As the other men begin to pack their belongings, Lancelot nudges Gwen’s cheek gently and the woman opens one bleary eye.
“Time to go?”
“Yes, my love. You fell asleep.”
“Oh,” she lowers her eyes a little - embarrassed. “Sorry, I had a long day.”
Lancelot wishes he could chance away her every insecurity with his sword unsheathed. “You don’t have to apologise for resting, Guinevere.” He helps her up, walking her to their horses as she dusts her skirts off.  “C’mon,” he smiles, stopping in front of his mount, “We can ride together.”
“I can ride on my own, Lancelot. I’m okay.”
But Lancelot can see the way her eyelids droop a little and so he shakes his head resolutely.
“You’re dead on your feet is what you are. Ride with me, it won’t hurt.”
Guinevere is too tired to protest clearly because when he lifts her up onto his horse carefully, sitting behind her and grabbing the reins, she doesn’t say a word.
“You can lean back, sweetheart. I’ve got you.”
And so Gwen leans back into him. Her body fitting perfectly into the slight curve that his makes.
“Sleep, my love. I’ll wake you up when we reach home.”
By the time they get back, Gwen is asleep again. Pliant and warm against him.
Lancelot pulls her down from the horse and into his arms easily, making his way to the front door. Gwen mumbles softly and Lancelot holds her tighter as he shoulders his way in.  The next time he looks down at her, Lancelot finds Gwen looking up at him. Eyes tired and soft.
“There she is,” he keeps his voice gentle, careful to not speak too loudly.
He sets her down on two feet, moves behind her, and begins to untie her dress as Gwen yawns.
“Tired?”
She hums in agreement and stretches her neck slowly.
“Sore?”
“A little,” she concedes. “I had a lot to do at the castle today.”
Lancelot wishes Gwen wouldn’t work herself so hard, but it’s late and she’s sleepy, and he doesn’t have it in him to risk upsetting her over something like that. He promises himself that he’ll bring it up tomorrow, but for now, he focuses on his wife. Moving back so he’s facing her again, Lancelot rubs Gwen’s cheek gently.
“Arms up for me?”
Guinevere obliges, raising her arms so he can pull her second layer off, a light pink shirt that matches the darker tones of the dress. Then she’s bare before him, and Lancelot has to force his legs not to buckle underneath him.
“Here,” he murmurs, passing her one of his shirts. “Before you kill me.”
Gwen just laughs, pulling it on as she leans into him ever so slightly.
“I would never kill you, Lancelot. I like you too much.” She walks over to the bed and flops onto it, eyes blissfully shut.
(Lancelot du Lac has never been a man of faith, but the sight of Gwen wearing his clothes and looking so pliant and gentle is something that brings him to his knees. He can’t find it in himself to hold it against her).
Rapidly, he changes out of his own clothes before joining her, pulling the covers around them both before tugging Gwen into his chest.  His wife burrows into him with a sleepy smile, a hand moving up to find his.
Lancelot falls asleep to the smell of rosemary and the sound of Guinevere’s gentle breathing.
Arthur discovers Merlin's magic while in Ealdor. Like s4-s5 ish. Gwaine is ready to get super protective but then Huntith steps in and does the job for him, maybe even holding a sword to Arthur đŸ€·. And Arthur is obviously shook, so is Merlin.
It was a small thing.
If Arthur looked away a moment earlier, if he turned his head a moment later, he wouldn't have seen it. The problem, of course, was that he did. Arthur watched Merlin make a small bunch of violets, vibrant—too vibrant, for a memorial in the village, and then everything went to shit. If someone told him, there was no way he would have believed it. But no one told him. He saw it, with his own eyes. And now he knew that Merlin wielded something that was pure evil. That pretty much summed up what led to Arthur screaming bloody murder at Merlin in his cottage, the latter of which had tears streaming down his reddened cheeks.
"Arthur—" he gasped in a trembling voice, trying to get ahold of himself, but Arthur wasn't having any of it.
"You lied to me! You're a—you have—" the words built up and clogged his throat. He couldn't even force himself to choke them out. The Merlin in front of him and magic... the idea of it had freezing cold fear hardening his gut. Why, why, why!? For a moment, his composure slipped, and then his hands fisted into Merlin's jacket and yanked him forward.
"Explain." No response. And Arthur screamed. "Explain, Merlin!"
"What's going on?" Arthur turned to see Gwaine, who watched the two with an alert, quiet alarm. Merlin shook his head slowly, but he entered anyway. "You alright, Merlin?"
"Fine. M'fine, Gwaine," he said, with a hoarse roughness grating his words. Arthur could barely hear anything over the roaring in his ears and slamming of his heart.
"He has—"
"Merlin, dear, could you—" Hunith stopped dead in her tracks, surveying the scene before her. Arthur was gripping Merlin, lifting him up enough that the toes of his boots could only just brush the floor. Gwaine's hand hovered at the hilt of his sword. Merlin was crying. Her son was crying.
"What are you doing?"
Something about the coldness in her tone, in the barely supressed rage and danger swelling and boiling beneath her words almost made Arthur hesitate.
"Don't get any closer, Hunith," he said instead, turning to her for a flicker of a moment, "He has magic."
Gwaine froze. "Don't be stupid, princess."
He started to say something else in defence of his friend when his sword was unsheathed from behind him. One moment, Arthur had a handle on the situation, and the next, he was staring down the razor sharp blade of Gwaine's sword with Hunith at the end of it.
"Unhand my son," she ordered. And it really was an order.
"Think about what you're doing, Hunith," Arthur said in a low voice. "This is treason. This is madness, he's a sorcerer!"
"He's my son!" she barked, and her nostrils flared. The fire that burned in her eyes had Arthur thinking about the dragon crest emblazoned into his cape. She tilted her head, and the sword did not waver. Arthur lowered him slowly back to his feet, but his gloved hands were still twisted into the fabric of his clothing. Hunith's mouth twitched.
"I said let him go."
For the fic prompt, Will gets resurrected... somehow... around season 5 maybe? And berates Arthur? That's all I got atm I'm sorry
"Have you ever considered—" Will starts, and that's how Merlin knows something bad is about to happen, because whenever Will says that, something bad always happens, "—saying thank you?"
"Pardon?" Arthur asks with an incredulous facial expression. He pauses in heaping another bag onto Merlin's shoulders to stare at him.
"I'm just saying," he says, "Merlin does all these things for you, and I've hardly ever seen you thank him."
"He's my manservant."
"What a keen eye you have."
"No, I—" he pinches his nose, exasperated, "I don't have to say 'thank you'. He's just doing his job. Right, Merlin?"
"Ah-ah-ah," Will cuts in with a flippant shake of his hand, "We're talking, not Merlin. That's not all."
Arthur deadpans, "Oh really?"
"Yes, really. You're a prat during training too, I've seen it."
"I'm training to be more physically fit!"
"Do it with someone physically fit as well! Merlin's a beanpole, and he bruises easily!"
Merlin coughs in embarrassment, "Ok, Will, that's really not—"
"He's like an apple! And you—" he says with razor sharpness as he stabs a finger into Arthur's chest, "are not helping."
Arthur stares down at the finger pressed into his chest, then back at Merlin's best friend.
"Are you quite finished?"
"No! Why are you always calling him a coward!? Merlin's braver than all of your knights combined."
Arthur bristles, then, and mumbles something small about those just being jokes, but Will's bulldozing on before he can repeat himself.
"And don't even get me started on all the times you hit him with spoons or give him stupid jobs, like cleaning the stables."
"I won't," Arthur replies dryly, then turns to Merlin.
"I don't mistreat you, do I, Merlin?"
He looks hesitantly between Arthur and Will.
"Well."
Will places his hands on his hips, looking rather a lot like Hunith, and juts out his chin.
"There you go, then!"
"Alright, alright." Arthur is desperate for this to end. Will keeps sizing him up like he's wondering how many hits he can get in until he's clobbered, and Merlin's being unusually quiet, which makes his insides twist. "I will admit that I can maybe, sometimes, occasionally be a bit hard on Merlin—"
"Ha—!"
"But! But, it's alright. He's fine with it. Isn't that right, Merlin?"
They both turn to look at him, but all that's there is the bags he was holding a moment earlier, haphazardly dropped to the grass.
"I think that's your answer, you royal arse."
pt 1 So I have this weird headcanon about Uther based around if the characters were reincarnated rather than resurrected. So Uther is obviously older and might regain his memories earlier than everyone else. But what if Arthur doesn’t remember in each life uness he meets Merlin. So in my idea Uther goes through his lifetimes trying to prevent Arthur and Merlin from meeting so that he doesn't infect his son with his ideals - aka in Uther's mind - stealing away Arthur's love and support and
I really like this. In general, this would be a cool book idea bc if we had no knowledge of the series then the audience would 100% probably take Uther’s side in the beginning. Then as the the story progresses you realize he’s actually a villain which is just a concept I’ve always loved.
AND YES. One thing I felt a little failed on in the series is that Uther had always been the ‘big bad’ for me to which I assumed there would be this grand scene vanquishing him. Only... there wasn’t and I was just left to be very, very confused. Like, even if Morgana didn’t get any redemption and stayed a villain I just kinda assumed Uther would have a antagonist ending. But a clown stabbed him... which was hilarious, but still. Also, Uther accidentally destroying the world via his BS is 100% on brand.
I can’t decide if I would choose for Uther to be redeemed or vanquished. I almost want to say vanquishing makes the most sense narrative-wise. Excalibur could probably end the resurrection altogether so if Arthur kills him with that then Uther is probs permanently dead. However, there is also some satisfaction in Uther becoming a more complex character via this particular storyline. I think it would be interesting to see how many ways you could try to mold his character while keeping the fundamentals the same. I’ve never been able to create a fully ‘redeemable’ Uther in anything I’ve written, but this seems like the opportunity to do it if it was framed as a desperate fight to save his son from people depicted as monsters. I think, if done correctly, having him subtly flip sides when realizing he’s wrong would be really cool. Especially if he’s only getting limited memories at first so he’s just slowly realizing he’s actually the bad guy. Coming to terms that you’re an awful person is another fun trope.
Also, the side Merthur potential during all of this... just Merlin and Arthur in the background meeting again and again in all those different ways is ~beautiful~ content. A thousand AUs in one fic.
Okay, so here’s what I’m thinking. Arthurian legends have a million different versions with various authors and translations, so it is essentially like everyone just wrote a bunch of fanfic in a group project-like setting and nobody knows 100% what the OG version actually was.
This can be explained by Merlin simply trying to annoy Arthur back into the land of the living.
You know what would tick him off? Is if I said Mordred was his kid.
Yo Arthur. I’m telling everyone I raised you. Anything to say? No? You’re not going to burst out of the lake and say you’re technically older than me? Okay then.
Arthur, guess what? I’m telling everyone how Morgana - DAUGHTER OF YGRAINE - is your half-sister....because she was also YGRAINE’S CHILD.... no? Okay.
Fuck it. If you don’t come back soon I’m gonna say you slept with Morgause. I’ll fucking do it.
I’m changing Leon’s name to Galahad because you’re being a bitch. Come out and stop me if you don’t want me to.
I’ve decided to be part demon. No real reason. Just thought I would condemn myself in the eyes of history for being a child of Hell... if you feel differently you should say something.
And then, other people start adding their own stories and things start getting uhhhh more R-Rated.
So.... I did tell everyone you slept with Morgause. But, just to clarify, it was not me who said she was your sister, okay? I don’t really know how that happened.
Bad news. Ummmm don’t be mad, but things kind of got out of hand. You know that thing that happened between Gwen and Lancelot before you got married? Well, in a story that I most certainly did not spread....uh. It kind of escalated.
You know, people are now saying Lancelot is a hoe, but between you and me....yeah, I started that one. It’s true and we both know it.
....remember how you told me that lovely story on how your parents met? Well, apparently that is not the version the rest of the world knows. You might want to come back and correct that bc I’m honestly at a loss for words here.
You better fucking come out of this goddam lake you fucking coward. These idiots are saying my bestie was your magic-hating father. I’m okay with my legacy being a child-stealing demon, but I draw the line at being called Uther’s bitch, alright?
They found Geoffrey’s records. Turns out he misunderstood a lot of what was going on. We’re screwed.
Watching the Umbrella Academy and thinking about how much of a shame it was that Merlin didn’t have any Klaus-like powers. Obviously, to talk to loved ones, sure, but also to fuck around with Uther’s ghost like Klaus does Ben.
Arthur: is my father here?
Merlin: ....no. As it turns out, ghosts can’t travel on sacred land đŸ€·â€â™€ïž
Uther, standing behind Merlin: are you kidding me?
Or, Merlin openly using magic as Uther rages in the background but there’s nothing he can really do bc technically Merlin can control him.
Merlin: you wanna watch me use magic?
Uther: I hope you die a painful death
Merlin: oooh I’m gonna make a butterfly...you better watch outttttt
dude i’ve been thinking about this forever but in the 1st merlin ep on his way to camelot merls passes someone on a horse wearing chainmail and i can’t help but imagine merlin running across/charming knights before he got to camelot?? like imagine you’re a knight doing a routine patrol and you meet some kid traveling, normal, but then you get back home and this skinny punk is now running around ostensibly serving the prince but mostly insulting him and you’re like “..... hey wait. yOU” 1/2
image
omg, omg. Wait. This is marvelous. There could be an entire fic of just oneshots about Merlin meeting various people on his way to Camelot only for them to turn up to Camelot later.
Like you said, one can a knight who is just utterly bewildered that this gangly kid saved the prince like what? And he got a place in the royal household? My lord, I met this boy and he tripped in a puddle and got a bloody nose? And Arthur is listening like ‘yeah, that checks out’ and at one point Leon goes to Arthur like ‘yeah, I’m pretty sure I met your servant when I was on patrol once. He gave me an apple and said I had pretty hair’. This turns out to be a pretty universal experience. Merlin had won them all over before stepping foot within the kingdom.
Then there is a there is this shady trader that comes by when Camelot is plagued with illness. Gaius needs this rare plant to create a remedy and only this one trader has it and won’t give it to them. Uther is threatening him, but the trader is just like ‘if you kill me you can’t get the damn pla - Merlin? My God, do my eyes deceive me?! Merlin, is that you?!’ and Arthur is baffled as to how this random trader knows his servant only for the trader to be like ‘yeah, I met him when he was heading to Camelot forever ago. He helped me rob some bandits and then we got drunk and somehow figured out how to talk to God. Btw you guys can have these plants for free. No big deal. I hadn’t realized you knew Merlin!’
Later on, Uther hears of the finest cook in the five kingdoms and this lady HAS to come cook for them. He summons his knights to bring her to him for a grand feast and offers to pay her lots of money. She’s a little hesitant at first, but stops in the middle of the conversation because ‘MY GOD! IT IS YOU!’ and just freaks out upon seeing Merlin. Turns out that on his way to Camelot, Merlin spotted some lost kid and decided to help the kid look for his mom (using a little bit of magic to ward off various threats). He returned the child and went on his way... except, well, he didn’t think about what the child might tell his mom (who is the cook in question)... so now everyone gets to hear this child’s retelling of Merlin single handedly taking down a lion with his bare hands (thank God the kid hadn’t noticed the magic). Or how he managed to convince an army of Saxons to let them pass through their camp by offering them cheese. Arthur is outraged by these tales.
Then, this other knight comes to Camelot. He too recognizes Merlin except this man is enraged and has his sword out ready to fight. Everyone wants to know what happened and the knight spits out this tale of Merlin tricking him into doing all these awful things before trapping him in a well and leaving him for dead. Arthur turns to Merlin to ask ‘Is this true?’ and Merlin pauses before going ‘Yeah, except he’s leaving out the most important part of the story... the guy kidnapped me’ and that’s how Arthur learned his servant had been casually kidnapped on his way to Camelot.
A renowned blacksmith pops by and ‘Oh, Merlin is that you? How fun! Are you still fighting with those knives I made you? Ah, good lad. Hm? Oh, I ran into some trouble awhile back and this boy here shot six men down with only three arrows! It was amazing. Naturally, I figured he should have some knives in case any of his future attackers are up close’
Another famous singer comes to Camelot only to be like ‘Merlin how wonderful that you’re in Camelot as well! We had such a swell time together, didn’t we? I got lost in the forest and this gentleman here accompanied me back home. It was so much fun!’
Some noble pops by and is annoyed because ‘that’s the peasant I lost all my money to in a card game a few years back, my lord.’
Lastly, imagine if Charming Knightâ„ąïž was PRINCE Charming of another kingdom. Even better, Prince Charming was on his way home when he encountered some sort of danger and some wondrous sorcerer just happened to help him out. When learning that this boy was heading to Camelot he warned him of the dangers Uther holds for his kind, but could not persuade the boy to change course. So... of course, they part ways... but he never forgot about the charming, young sorcerer.
Fast forward. Arthur is talking about this visiting prince he LOVES. Prince Rowan is his bestie since childhood and they never get to see one another except on formal occasions bc their kingdoms are so far and Merlin you must behave bc if Rowan sees you going around being an idiot he might think less of me, etc... And Merlin is like ‘sure, sure’ except... Welp. Rowan looks mighty familiar and holy shit that’s the prince from before... There’s no way he can recognize him, right? It’s been so long.
Wrong. Rowan 100% does and pulls Merlin aside to figure how the Hell a sorcerer is working for the prince. Merlin explains and Rowan is like ‘....fine. I guess I like you anyways’
And poor Arthur is affronted because suddenly Rowan is over there acting like Lancelot 2.0 with constantly hanging around his servant and the giggling and the soft smiles and ugh. It doesn’t help that Merlin is obviously so smitten by Rowan since ‘oh, he’s so charming and polite! I don’t know how he’s friends with you, Arthur’
At the end of it all, Arthur is just like “how long did it even take you to get from Ealdor to here?” And the two acceptable answers Merlin can give are “two days” and “a year” 😂
This is just such a fun idea lol. Thank you for sharing it!
1. Matters of the Heart by a_written_dream (@a-written-dream)
 “You must find the person Arthur truly loves,” the Dragon says, and this time it’s Merlin who wants to laugh.
 “Arthur doesn’t love anyone, not since Gwen,” he says, certain of it.
 The air rumbles with the Dragon’s laughter. “It seems you do not know your prince quite as well as you thought, young warlock.”
A 2x10 Sweet Dreams rewrite. After the ordeal with Hengist, Gwen and Arthur decide they are better suited as friends. Arthur still gets enchanted to fall in love with Lady Vivian, Merlin still tries to save his royal ass, and True Loves’ Kiss is still the cure. But if Gwen isn’t Arthur’s true love, then who could it possibly be?
~~~

hmmm it’s really a mystery who arthur’s OTHER HALF is

2. Your Eyes Glow by Drifting_Stream

Arthur’s been acting strangely ever since he’d learned about Merlin’s magic, which he found completely understandable. But asking Merlin to use magic in front of him, when it so obviously made the king uncomfortable? Obviously, Arthur was disgusted by his magic, by him. That had to be it. Right?

~~~
damn it’s like obliviousness is contagious. first arthur doesn’t notice merlin doing magic right in front of him, and now merlin doesn’t noticed [redacted]
3. Next to You (It’s the Rule) by LunaMyLove
Arthur and Merlin have a special relationship. They always have, even when they were prince and servant. While many question it when first noticing, eventually it becomes an understanding in Camelot—and even among some other countries—that where there is Arthur, there is Merlin. And, where there is Merlin, there is Arthur.
Or
Arthur and Merlin’s relationship as witnessed and explained by others.
Also, or
Five times someone realizes that Merlin is the Queen, one time Merlin realizes it himself, and one time he owns it.
~~~

this is probably one of my all time fav fics. the humour is on point

balinor giving merlin the ambrosius sigil and merlin carrying it around with him for years. merlin and arthur sitting around a campfire, both believing fullheartedly that they’ll be dead by morning bc like hell are they going to allow the other to sacrifice themself to close the veil. arthur giving merlin the du bois sigil as a parting gift and ensuring that merlin will be taken care of after his death. merlin biting the bullet and handing over the ambrosius family sigil in exchange. luckily, arthur doesn’t recognize the ambrosius sigil for what it is - a dragonlord lineage. BUT now he thinks merlin has noble blood and is wondering when tf he figured that out, if he ever met his father, and why he never told arthur.

They say you can hear what goes on around you while in a coma. This is what Merlin heard.
