Turquoise Katun is a landmark of the Altai Mountains.
Самая длинная и полноводная в Горном Алтае река Катунь начинается с ледника Геблера у подножия Белухи, и заканчивается в месте слияния с Бией и впадения в Обь. Протяженность — 668 километров. Вода всегда холодная, в жаркие дни ее температура поднимается до 15 градусов.
Особенностью этой реки считают смену цвета в течение года. Так в весенний и летний периоды воды имеют грязный молочный оттенок, что связывают с примесью мелкой породы из-под ледников, питающих реку. Осенью же вода становится прозрачной с бирюзовым оттенком из-за зелено-каменных включений от песчанников в верхнем и среднем участках Катуни. Самая прозрачная, чистая и бирюзовая вода в реке бывает зимой. Большая часть реки зимой замерзает, но на порогах бурные воды Катуни выдерживают серьёзные морозы.
Место слияния Катуни и реки Бии славится своей красотой. Это связанно с тем, что воды Катуни имеют зеленоватый или бирюзовый цвет, а Бии — белый. Смешение воды в летнее время на определенном участке не происходит и выглядит как «полосатое течение». В месте впадения одной реки в другую расположен остров, который носит статус особо охраняемой природной территории.Также месту слияния рек придают мистическое значение старообрядцы, cчитая, что именно здесь состоится последняя битва добра и зла.

At the confluence of one river and another there is an island, which has the status of a specially protected natural area. Old Believers also attach mystical significance to the confluence of rivers, believing that this is where the last battle of good and evil will take place.

Загадка Зеленого озера кроется в том, что с приходом весны, снег на вершинах гор Хошшваб начинает таять, стекать вниз, и уровень воды стремительно возрастает. Они расположены в охранной зоне Тебердинского заповедника, на территории Карачаево-Черкессии, в непосредственной близости от Домбая. В геологическом плане они являются молодыми (около 200 лет). Эти водоёмы - результат природных преобразований, связанных с образованием на реке крупных запруд. Эти запруды, в свою очередь, возникли из-за обвалов камней. Бадукские озера наполнены абсолютно прозрачной водой, цвет которой меняется в зависимости от погоды и времени суток. Иногда она кажется нежно-бирюзовой, а иногда – темно-фиолетовой. В озерах обитает форель, но поскольку они находятся в заповеднике, рыбалка здесь запрещена. По берегам растут сосны и березовое криволесье, но зимой лавины часто уничтожают и кустарники, и деревья.В границах заповедника, кроме водоемов, расположены ледники, скальные гряды, заливные луга и массивы лесов. Всего водоемов три:
-Первый – самый крошечный. Его диаметр всего 80 метров, а глубина не доходит и до 5 м. Вода в нем очень студеная – круглый год она не превышает отметку +5С.
-Второй водоем, находящийся на 260 м выше – несколько крупнее. Его диаметр достигает 200 метров. Бадукские озера (высота второго из них – 1987 м относительно уровня моря) располагаются одно за другим, постепенно поднимаясь в гору.
-Третье – самое огромное. Его размеры составляют 330 на 200 метров, а площадь превышает 3,5 гектара. Здесь восторженно замирают все, приехавшие на Бадукские озера – фото этих мест потрясают и завораживают. Глубина его достигает 9 метров, а вода прозрачная и чистая. В пользу последнего факта говорит то, что в Большом Бадукском издавна поселилась форель. Водоем плещется выше своих собратьев, на высоте 1 990 метров. В этом озере нередко купаются туристы – хотя оно довольно прохладное, но невероятно чистое. Здесь в конце весны и в начале лета цветет белый рододендрон.
По словам большинства туристов, в эти места хорошо приезжать золотой осенью, с середины сентября и до конца октября. В это время сочная зелень окрашивается в яркие цвета, что отражается в лазурной глади озерных вод – потрясающее зрелище. Эффектные фотографии получаются на берегах озер. Интересно запечатлеть течение Теберды с подвесного моста возле трассы и место слияния стремительных рек Бадук и Хаджибей.
The cascade of picturesque Baduk lakes, the most famous tourist attraction, lies in the valley of the river. Baduk between the formidable walls of the Baduk and Khadzhibey ridges. -The first one is the tiniest. Its diameter is only 80 meters, and its depth does not even reach 5 m. The water in it is very cold - all year round it does not exceed +5C.
-The second reservoir, located 260 m higher, is somewhat larger. Its diameter reaches 200 meters. The Baduk lakes (the height of the second of them is 1987 m relative to sea level) are located one after another, gradually rising up the mountain.
- The third is the largest. Its dimensions are 330 by 200 meters and its area exceeds 3.5 hectares. Here everyone who comes to the Baduk Lakes freezes with delight - the photos of these places are stunning and mesmerizing. Its depth reaches 9 meters, and the water is clear and clean. The latter fact is supported by the fact that trout have long settled in Bolshoy Baduksky. The reservoir splashes higher than its fellows, at an altitude of 1,990 meters. Tourists often swim in this lake - although it is quite cool, it is incredibly clean.White rhododendron blooms here in late spring and early summer.

Ballysaggartmore Towers, Ireland.
The Ballysaggartmore Towers were built by a man named Arthur Caley-Usher, who owned an 8,000 acre estate, much of which he rented out to tenants. He set aside about 1,000 acres of land as his personal estate, where he built his family residence, Ballysaggartmore House. The house itself was large, but very simple in design.
There is a local legend that Arthur was jealous of his brother's more impressive Strankallie Castle. In addition, his extremely ambitious wife Elizabeth wanted to have the same grand residence that her sister-in-law called home. So Arthur decided to build the elaborate Ballysaggartmore Towers and grand entrance gate/lodge on the estate. It was a huge project that was purely for show and cost the family a great deal of money. After they built these follies, they began to turn their attention to building a larger mansion to replace the house. But they quickly realized that they were running out of money.
This was at the same time as the Great Famine, when people were starving and could barely afford to pay their rent. Arthur Caley-Usher refused to freeze rents and began evicting those who lived on his land and could not afford to pay. There were several attempts on his life after this due to his cruelty, and his fortune continued to dwindle.
When the Great Famine ended, the country began to prosper, but the Caley-Ushers continued to slide into poverty. The family was quickly becoming bankrupt and were looking for a new owner for their estate. Caley-Usher died around 1862 and the estate was sold by a liquidator. The house, gardens and some land were bought by the Woodroof family and later owned by the Anson family. The house was destroyed by arson during the Civil War and the crumbling stonework was removed in the mid-20th century. One of the cottages was still in use as a private residence in the 1970s.
Although in ruins, the magnificent towers and cottages of Ballysaggartmore still stand today and are now open to the public.

Karanlık Canyon or literally "Dark Canyon".
Karanlık Canyon is one of the largest canyons in the world and is a deep gorge with steep sides. The canyon is located between the districts of Ilic and Kemaliye in the province of Erzincan, Turkey, and is formed by the Karasu River.
The canyon is 35 km long, 10-15 m wide at the base, and the steepness of the slope is almost 90%. With a depth of 1000 meters, Karanlık Canyon is one of the five deepest canyons in the world.
The 7-kilometer-long stone road, which offers adventurers exquisite views along the Dark Canyon, is now used for tourism purposes, not for transportation. There are 38 large and small tunnels and many sharp turns and cliffs on the tourist route.

Listocracy: "Top 8 Most Underrated Video Games"
These are my personal top eight video games that I think more people should know about and play. Whether it was because of bad marketing, lack of interest, or weak critical reception, these game just never got the love that they deserved. I put these games in order based on how well-known the game is compared to how good it is. This is limited only to games that I have played, but if you have any of your own suggestions as to what else could or should be on this list, feel free to let me know.
8. Earthbound (SNES)
This one is so low on the list because it is slowly coming into the spotlight thanks to games like the "Super Smash Bros." series. You play as Ness, a young boy with psychic powers, who sets out to save the world from being destroyed by the evil entity Giygas. It's a fun, quirky game with good comedic writing and some emotional scenes, including the stomach-turning final battle. My only problem with this game is that it can be almost unfairly hard at times, but it does feel rewarding when you finally persevere.
7. Jet Set Radio Future (X Box)
This is another one that seems to be getting more recognition through crossover games. You play as a multitude of members of a rollerblading street gang as they try to protect their turf and Japan while also avoiding being captured by the police. I'm focusing on the sequel because that's the one I've played more. It has fun gameplay, a great soundtrack, and a style all its own (or at least it was until cel shading became more popular). The original is great, too, but the sequel managed to work out some of the kinks and have better overall presentation.
6. Mischief Makers (N64)
Here's a game that was almost completely centered around one gimmick: grabbing and shaking things. Yet, it somehow works. You play as Marina, a cyborg maid, who is tasked with saving her creator, Professor Theo, from the Empire (no, not that Empire) on the strange planet of Clancer. The game isn't very long (unless you're going for 100% completion), but the unique gameplay mechanics and interesting presentation keep this game fun and nice to look at. Also, some of the bosses can get pretty tough (especially if you're trying to get the Golden Gems).
5. The World Ends With You (DS)
This is probably the best game involving fashion that I've ever played. You play as Neku, a loner in Japan, who gets pulled into the mysterious "Reaper's Game" and must work with complete strangers in order to win. This game has a style and presentation that I really haven't seen in many other games (and never this well executed). The gameplay, which involves you controlling characters on both screens at the same time during battles, keeps things fast-paced and fun. The story is great and keeps you guessing to the very end, and the music is very memorable.
4. Um Jammer Lammy (PS1)
Speaking of memorable music, this game has it in spades. A spin-off of the "PaRappa the Rapper" series, you play as Lammy, the shy guitarist of the band MilkCan, who must find her way through ridiculous circumstances and make it to her band's concert on time. This game is, in my opinion, the pinnacle of the "PaRappa" series. The gameplay is the same as those games, but executed much better, and there's a variety of different modes to play, including a two-player campaign. You can even unlock PaRappa himself. When playing as him, all the songs changes from their original forms into almost completely different rap-themed songs, effectively doubling the game's length. It's still extremely short, but that just means that it doesn't overstay its welcome.
3. Okami (PS2 / Wii)
This game is art. You play as the Japanese sun goddess Amaterasu as she tries to restore the world as it's being destroyed by the evil spirit Orochi. This game's most notable quality is it's presentation. Everything is done in a style similar to Japanese watercolor, leading to a beautiful game. The gameplay is also great, and the Celestial Brush that you use to fight enemies and repair the world is a brilliant innovation. You also have a huge overworld to explore and tons of interesting characters to interact with. The game is somewhat easy, but it's still an experience worth having.
2. Psychonauts (X Box / PS2)
This is probably the game on the list that I've played through in its entirety the most amount of times (besides "Um Jammer Lammy", but you can beat that game in one sitting). You play as Raz, a young boy who has run away from the circus in order to join a psychic summer camp and hone his powers. This game is hilarious. The writing is sharp, and the delivery is always perfect. The characters are all individuals with their own problems and storylines. The gameplay is fun, and using all of the psychic powers at your disposal is always a blast. Entering people's minds to see what their inner workings look like is such an interesting premise, and I want to see it explored more in a sequel that may never come to fruition.
1. Brave Fencer Musashi (PS1)
This game is my childhood. You play as Musashi, a hero of legend called into a new dimension in order to help the Allucaneet Kingdom fight back against the Thirstquencher Empire. The writing is funny with just the right amount of drama and cheesiness, the characters are quirky and charming, and the gameplay is fun and fast-paced. The only reason that this isn't the number one most played game on this list is that I somehow managed to lose my copy of the game a few years ago. I recently bought a new one, and the game totally holds up after all these years. This game garnered a sequel that was released many years later, but it was nowhere near as good. Everyone should play this game, and I don't know why it isn't more popular.
