@wynterlanding : [] Sender And Receiver Hear A Sound When They Should Be Alone ( Footsteps / Creaking

When it came to making connections and getting a name out there, parties were always the best way to do that. Frankie was a regular at all the biggest parties and social gatherings, typically followed by one or two of her clients. Rarely did she come to these events alone. It was all work to her, not a social event. Every interaction with some director, big or small, was a chance to plug the clients she felt fit the best.

This time, it was a young actor she met working in a soup kitchen. He gave the usual story for young actors, coming to Hollywood seeking fame and wanting to bask in the limelight, without realizing just how hard that was. Lucky for him, Frankie was there to give him a boost.

Of course, he also tended to wander off as well. Not quite as focused as she expected, but she could deal with it.

Passing through a back hallway of this venue, Frankie was checking every room she figured he would be in, "Bloody hell, Marius, where are you?" She mumbled to herself. She came on a door that led to a balcony, noticing someone was out there who fit the look of her runaway actor. Opening it, she started her scolding immediately, "I swear to God if you're meeting someone out here again I will -" moving closer she could see it was Marius, a slight smile coming to her face in place of the anger, "Landon Wynter? What are you doing out here all alone?"

"Oh? Avoiding me are you?" Frankie smiled to him, choosing briefly to play alone with his tease, "You certainly wouldn't be the first, Mr. Wynter."

If there was anyone she would expect to find outside on their own, of course it would be Landon Wynter. She didn't even need to hear it from him, everyone in there knew about the tension between him and his ex. Public breakups were always messy, but ones like that were a whole different degree. Still, Frankie knew better than to draw attention to it.

She moved closer to him, careful to stay up wind from his smoke, "Its alright, I don't mind," she gave a passive wave of her hand. If he wanted to smoke, she wasn't going to stop him, "Suppose you aren't social gathering type. But then, I don't blame you. Sharks is definitely a good word for them."

She moved closer to the balcony edge, leaning onto the railing beside him, "Yeah, my newest little protege. Have you seen him? He is damn good at talking himself up to people, but he tends to flirt more than network to .. pretty much everyone," Frankie just sighed, shaking her head, "I'd say it might be wise to put him on a leash, but I'm really not interested in finding out if he likes that sort of thing."

Something Frankie Noticed About Landon Was The Fact That He Backtracked On Things He Said If It Seemed

Something Frankie noticed about Landon was the fact that he backtracked on things he said if it seemed like it could be taken a different way than he intended. Always so careful with his words. Given his current reputation, she couldn't blame him. But, she was always cordial enough with him whenever they were able to speak that she thought he would let down that guard just a little, just enough to be able to relax.

"Don't apologize," she said it with a slight laugh, the corner of her mouth curling a bit more with the smile, "In a sense you're right, however, I'm sure you know I'm not like all agents. I'd rather not hear about my 'children's' bedroom fantasies." Frankie let the joke hang between them, hoping it would lighten his social load a little.

The question about her being at the party made her pause, giving him a slightly weird look. Maybe it was because no one really asked that before, but she also figured it should be pretty obvious to anyone. "Why? Because I'm not the type to fling a newborn child into a hornets nest. Even though the child in question has wandered off to do who knows what - hopefully not damaging his fragile reputation," Frankie shakes her head, standing up straight to take her phone from her purse to check her messages, "I take no thrill being around these people. It's just work to me. Keeping my clients safe and making sure they are introduced to the right people."

Seeing no new messages, she tucked the phone back away and returned her gaze to his face, "But you are right. Things were better when it wasn't about who you know. When it was about actual talent instead of what publicity you can bring to a name. I saw that trying to make my own way up, but it clearly didn't work. And it's been all downhill since. Good looks get you anything."

"Not crazy," she reassured him, looking his way with curious, but sympathetic eye, "I think most in your position would probably feel the same." Without pulling any more attention to it, Frankie just gave a little smile. Of course, anyone with such terrible, public drama would be more than happy to fade into the background where no one would bother them. Landon is no different. Still... the sentiment made her a bit sad to hear from him. If he had faded off, they might have never met.

The compliment was not lost, however, and it did work to brighten her smile a bit, "Well, then its a shame I'm not in the competition anymore, isn't it?" Frankie's eyes met his, equally studying his face with a certain curiosity. The little laugh he gave definitely sounded more natural, more at ease. Landon Wynter was definitely a quiet man who enjoyed his solitude and he thrived in it. But, even the lone wolves need company once in a while...

She blinked the thought away, turning a bit to lean against the railing instead, taking her phone out once more. This was no time to give in to any personal feelings, not when her client was likely doing something the tabloids would eat up in the morning.

Frankie clicked through to the text conversation with Marius, " I - really need to find this boy. He won't answer any of my texts, which could be nothing but it could also be something." She flashed Landon a smile, slightly apologetic as she hit to call Marius. When it went straight to voicemail she let out a groan, "Perfecrt."
