Ven’s (Mostly Chaotic) DnD Character Ideas
A Haunted One who literally will not stop being dramatic about their dark past
A an edgy, teenage, punk rock bard
A tired sage professor supervising a field trip gone wrong
Atheist clerics who get their magic purely from spiting higher powers
A warlock with religious trauma who only became a warlock to side with the enemy of the deity they once followed
A whole party of unsocialized members who all think the others know about normal society and follow what they do (Aasimar with no mortal experience, a tiefling from hell, a dwarf who’s been underground their whole life, etc.)
A noble tiefling child, everyone is convinced they’re Satan’s child
A barbarian who’s never actually been in a fight and apologizes constantly when fighting people and/or asks before attacking someone
A dragonborn who hoards dice. Both the character and the player. Just steals everyone’s dice.
Extremely religious/traditional acolyte, but to the beliefs of Greek mythology. So absolutely nothing like the conservative Christians of today. Lots of homosexuality and immodesty.
Druid with about a million severe allergies
A Cleric/Paladin who this EVERYTHING is a sign. A brown leaf blows across the path? Oh, we have to have apple pie tonight or we die. Meets someone named Daniel? Someone’s getting struck my lightning tomorrow, sorry.
Bards with autism or aromantic/asexual bards. Just generally not stereotypically charismatic or flirty bards.
Desert circle druid who just really likes throwing sand at people
A paladin with a god that just doesn’t exist. They’re either making it up or hearing something that’s not there. Either way, they’ve basically devoted their entire life to just whatever god exists in their mind.
On that note, a paladin or cleric whose god is the DM/their player
DnD Convo from Yesterday-
Wizard: Why do you hate gnomes so much?
Fighter: Yeah, why so gnomophobic?
Druid: They're short.
Sorcerer: I'M short.
Druid: Well, you're fine.
Fighter: She just doesn't support your lifestyle.
DM (me): You can be short, just keep it away from the kids.
Wizard: Don't shove it down all our throats.

- Trans mtf Leonin with the most gorgeous mane that she likes to decorate with flowers and stuff
- *!Gargoyle paladin who protects the church he stands over
- *!Frankenstein’s monster Barbarian with an ancestral path. The ancestors are the people they’re composed of and their mission is to complete each one’s dying wish.
- Human bard (of any college) pretending to be a substitute professor for a powerful wizard, the one leading the quest. See how long it takes people to realize you’re just playing Dewey from School of Rock.
- *Gorgon ranger with tiny bows for their snakes
- Aaracockra storm sorcerer (a thunderbird, for my mythology and cryptid lovers)
- A kenku with a plague doctor mask because it’s the only mask that will fit them
- !Kooky Tabaxi who characterizes the voice in their head with a sock puppet on their tail
- Warforged trying to convince everyone their human for absolutely no reason (bonus points if they actually have high deception)
If I don’t live to see tomorrow, it’s because my dnd players know where I sleep
When your favorite animal doesn’t have a dnd race and all the homebrews you can find aren’t quite right and cause you know way to much about the animal in question you make a scientifically accurate homebrew 👍

I wanted to post for the special occasion a little guy inspired by my first homebrew race! (I had to be sure to post by the end of the day, so I apologize the drawing is a little simple)
I wanted to make a race that allowed me to spill all the useless facts I know about bats, so they’re inspired my actual bat facts and behaviors. So thank you @hellezoic for helping me build it!
If you want access to the race that we’ve worked to build, all I ask is that you donate $5 or more to bat conservation international to help save our nighttime pollinators and send me proof of the donation. Bats are a crucial part of our ecosystem and even our agriculture, and they are dying out more and more rapidly every year, so please make an effort to donate and raise awareness.

Just finished a dnd campaign with these characters, first in person campaign I've played, it's been great!

I've posted quite a lot of my dnd art here, but i'm dm-ing for the first time next september.
I kind of want to blog about my first time dm-ing, going through my prep and maybe asking questions about how best to do things.
I'm not sure anyone would be interested, but i'll tag the posts so people can avoid it if they'd like.
