Obscure Media - Tumblr Posts
i just found this show randomly on my YouTube feed so i watched the trailer and the vibe of this show and the art style was sort of like 'we have hazbin/helluva at home' but like, in a good way

Mari Mari sweeter than a fairy, head is kinda airy she loves you!
I noticed my old fanart was getting notes and it made me want to both rewatch the series, and redo my super old fanart. So I made this.
pinki lili is very cute but sadly very obscure DX

i wish more ppl knew bout her existence!

Anyone remember them? If you dont, these are hoops (pink cat) and yoyo (green bunny) from the series of hallmark e-cards, the blue hamster is named piddles, they were very very popular, getting a collab with the “do you lik waffles?” Song creator, parry gripp! they even had their own cartoon special,

Can we get this show a boost of popularity lik what happened with wordgirl? Soup2nuts did make both wordgirl and time warp trio, plus, time warp trio was one of the earliest serialized cartoons, before gravity falls made it more common, (this show came out in 2005!) with the first half being more episodic, but once they introduce mad jack (one of the main characters, joe’s evil uncle) it starts to become serialized,
the reasons why i lik kids shows
Reason 1: They’re nostalgic, (late 2000s-early 2010s kid)
Reason 2: i love their theme songs,
Reason 3: Most of them r very obscure and i love obscure media,
Reason 4: They are nice to watch,
dork diaries should get a cartoon, tom gates has 1 (which has a halloween special featuring dantdm!) diary of a wimpy kid has a series of (animated and live action) movies, big nate has a cartoon, even dear dumb diary has a live action movie! I’ll watch a dork diaries cartoon!
can this be considered a object show?

If u dont know who these characters are, they are the cast of the obscure kids cbc show razzberry jazzberry jam, the show follows the band, the jazzberries (ella the piano, rc the double bass, billie the guitar, louis the trumpet, and buddy and krupa, the twin drums.) a band of sentient musical instruments and their adventures, its a unique show as inbetween the cartoon segments, there is live action footage, sadly theres not alot of footage online (only 1 episode on kids cbc’s utube channel) and i think the show used to be on sensical (a streaming service thats free) but idk if its still on there,
Treehouse tv’s sing, dance, and play with bobs & LoLo is lost media,

Anyone heard of sing, dance, and play with bobs & LoLo? It was a short series (episodes were 5 minutes) that aired on treehouse tv from 2013 to 2016, created by playground media that features the canadian kids band duo bobs & Lolo, Other than the website being (somehow) still up, a partial recording of the credits at the beginning of a splash ‘n’ boots video and the intro, no full episodes exist online, im a big fan of lost/obscure media and i grew up with treehouse (never watched sing dance play though) so i’ll love to see this show found,
The harrison houde era of finding stuff out is lost media,

In 2012, edward kay and johnathan finkelstein alongside the canadian channel tvo (alongside apartment 11 productions) created finding stuff out for tvo’s block, tvokids, the show was hosted by youtube/actor harrison houde, and it followed harrison answering kids questions, (and in only season 1, his friend/neighbor sydney kuhnne would go to places themed bout the question,) the show did pretty well, as it got a mobile app, got nominated for children or youth non-fiction program at the 1st canadian screen awards (losing to kids cbc’s artzooka) and aired on discovery kids in asia and qubo in america, (before it got shut down) it also aired on the other canadian kids block knowledge: kids, however, at the end of season 3, harrison left the show, due to him working on ytv’s sitcom some assembly required, (he was the character bowie sherman,) in season 4, he was replaced by zoey sieward, on tvokids’s youtube channel, u can find episodes of season 4/5 of FSO, but not season 1-3, the era is on 9 story’s utube…but its blocked in canada, the country where the show originally aired!! Theres almost no vids of this era, (not even on archive.org!) aside from 2 promos, 1 uploaded by discovery kids asia, and 1 uploaded by tvo’s utube channel, if anyone recorded tvokids from 2012-2014, (the timeframe of the first 3 seasons airing) plz upload them to either utube or the internet archive, as i feel lik canadian media is awesome, and we shouldn't let it become lost media.
New recent obscure magical girl show!
This show is called hailey & the hero hearts, its created by kevin mowrer, (who created dragon booster for kids cbc and created another show which i believe h&thh is a spiritual successor to, the 4-episode web series imaginext adventures,) the show follows hailey, a 7-year old girl with a big heart, and big emotions, on her birthday, her mom privately gifts her the hero heart, a magical bracelet, which has been passed down by one woman of the family to another, and now hailey is the owner of the hero heart, hailey soon finds herself being transported into another magical world, where she becomes captain hailey! who's outfit is a mashup of pirate and ballerina, she has a ship, the heroic, and her plushie llama, drama llama ding dong (just called drama for short) becomes sentient and alive (he's the comedic relief fairy partner) soon haileys bffs, rebecca and aliya learn bout the hero heart and get transported to the magical world! (rebecca becomes buckaroo 'becca, who's a fairy/cowgirl, and aliya becomes master aliya, a ninja/princess) together the 3 are the hero hearts, every episode shares the same format:
- Hailey or her friends have a problem,
- The hero heart glows and transports them,
- They meet someone who has a problem that relates to the one they have in the real world,
- They try to fix it, but mess up,
- Hailey soon comes to a realization, pulls out her cake cutting sword and annouces "Hero hearts! I know what to do!"
- They solve the problem and go back home,
- Hailey gets a new charm of one of the people they met and the episode ends,
in som episodes, haileys younger brother reddy tags along (although he doesnt get a magical form lik hailey) or its just hailey by herself, or hailey and rebecca or hailey and aliya,
The show is by epic story media (who made the knowledge:kids cartoon luna, chip & inkie: adventure rangers go!) h&thh is a canadian chinese co-production, it has a chinese dub! the show hasnt offically aired on tv in canada (or america) but all 25 episodes of the show are free on epic story jr's utube channel,
It's a cute magical girl kids cartoon,

The itch of the golden nit: the formerly lost uk short film nobody talks bout,
In 2010, the british art gallery tate opened up the tate film project, a website/project which aimed to get kids (aged 5-13) interested in art by making their own movie!

over 34,000 kids submitted character designs, plot ideas, script lines, etc (all the participants broke a world record for the most participants on a collaborative animated film project) for the project and aardman (yee that aardman,) helped animated it, and on the 14th of june, 2011, the film, titled the itch of the golden nit was screened at the tate britan, and then aired on bbc on the 29th,

plot: the 28 minute short film follows beanie, a normal 11 year old boy (voiced by a real boy, bobby fuller) who one day finds out his older sister beryl has been shrunk, his mom and dad also shrunk and abducted by the narcissitic villain evil stella and her sidekick fireboy.....and the sun is dying, the sun is powered by the titular golden nit, a talking nit, which has found itself on beanie's head. beanie and his sister beryl go to the superhero gadget store superco, and meet 10-heart hero, a superhero (well...every 10 minutes he's cursed to turn into a chaotic supervillain) who helps the 2, beanie and beryl, armed with nothing but lazer lip gloss and blend-in pants, go on a adventure that takes the 3 to space, a pirate ship, and a creepy swamp/forest.) can beanie save his parents, stop evil stella and revive the sun before the entire universe ends up destroyed?
the film was lost media for quite som time, until last year, 2023, where out of the blue, it was uploaded!
not really sure how to start this post but basically, i think i've discovered that i might have a rare plush? ever since i was born i've had this green floppy legs lion plush, and every time i go to search him up online to see what type of plush he is, i can find little to nothing about him except for a couple of old images. here's a picture of the one i have for reference:

and here are some images taken from other websites and listings:

(images from this site, this listing and this listing respectively)
what is known about him is that he was made by the plush brand Bestever in conjunction with John Doze Studios, he's a part of the Liontoons line and that he was in production since at least 2001. other than that though, little information exists on this guy. the only colours i've seen him be produced in are green and orange, and it's unknown what other colours he exists in. there's a couple of websites that show a few of Bestever's plushies, one of which including a high quality image of their logo:

quite a few people do own him and i'm sure plenty of Liontoons plushies do still exist, but it's just the information about him that is very scarce and it'd be awesome if we knew more about him.
there's another vey similar line of plush toys called 'Orangutoons', which are these furry cartoony orangutans that come in many colours. there's a lot more images that show these plushies, including the fact that they were produced in orange, green, blue, purple, mint, red and white, lavender, pink and rainbow. a few special seasonal ones exist as well.

i do find it interesting how we have wayyy more images of this silly guy than we do the Liontoons plushies. i'm hoping more information is found about them soon!! i'd personally like to see an image of a blue Liontoons plush one day :D
i'd like to bring some attention to these interesting reddit posts i found on the r/garfield subreddit about some rare, previously undocumented Ritters Garfield comic strips. the OP says that their friend, who works at Ritters, found these Garfield strips from 2003 and they have little-to-no information anywhere online besides these posts.
this is very intriguing to me and i hope that something is unearthed from this! i'm really interested in comics that weren't published in the main Garfield strip itself (such as the Garfield movie 2024 post-credits comic and the Garfield's Nightmare dark ride comic that was exclusively made for the ride) so it's exciting to see something like this pop up!
fun fact: i recently discovered that this pin was sold/given out at PAX Prime 2012! Halfbrick has a video up on their channel documenting a bit of their time there, including a shot where this pin appears in a big container, along with some Fruit Ninja pins at 14 seconds!!

this video is generally just really cool because of how much rare merchandise is featured in this video that not a lot of people really talk about.
also, i found an image on Flickr of the other pins from this event. most of them are Raskulls pins, which i find interesting because Raskulls, despite not being as well known as Halfbrick's other games, actually has a fair bit of merchandise for it!! the photo is in low quality unfortunately because it doesn't load correctly on Flickr and no other archives seem to exist. i think this is the only image of all of these pins online, unless there are more that i just haven't found yet.

shoutout to this 2012 Jetpack Joyride promotional button i found on ebay

can't wait to stab randoms on the street with a sick ass Barry pin :3
i have an interesting little piece of Star Trek TNG media to share today, it's pretty obscure and i've seen literally no discussion of it online at all. my dad is a really big fan of Star Trek, especially Star Trek TNG, and he has this DVD box set of season 1 of the show. it was released around 2002-2003 and it's this big bulky gray capsule box that contains a foldable disc sleeve thing, and most importantly, a little pamphlet that holds descriptions for the main characters of the series. it's a really neat little piece of media, but what i want to focus on is how it describes Data, because i think it's very interesting.

(apologies for the glare)
"Data - A unique and super-intelligent android, Data was created by the genius Dr Noonien Soong to be as human as possible. However, powerful though as his positronic brain might be, Data is unable to comprehend emotion."
the language it uses to describe Data and his relationship with emotions is really intriguing to me. it doesn't say he cannot feel emotions, but rather than he can't comprehend them. it's pretty commonly agreed on in the Star Trek fandom that Data can absolutely feel emotions, but he just can't process or express them in a human-like way. the show is not very good at convincing people that Data is an unfeeling automaton, lol. he definitely feels things, but he's convinced that he can't because he doesn't feel things like a human does. i feel like this pamphlet corroborates that in a way. just,, the language of "unable to comprehend" rather then "unable to feel" comes off as a very deliberate choice with this in mind. characters in the show, including Data himself, will always say that he cannot feel emotions first and foremost, and it feels significant to me that a piece of official media would instead focus more on Data having trouble comprehending emotion. comprehending something and feeling something are two very different things. i feel like this is important.
i'll try to see if i can get the whole pamphlet scanned and uploaded online. again, it's quite an obscure piece of media and i can't seem to find it anywhere. i don't know if i'll be able to account for pamphlets that were released with dvds of the later seasons as i think we only have the season 1 box from this set. i hope they all get found and scanned someday!!
I'll say it. Where the dead go to die is a masterpiece.

Go check out why studios and show some love
