Actually I’m gonna double down on Buck’s parents being not only not homophobic but vocal allies. I’m gonna say Buck’s dad sponsored the GSA at the school where he worked since the 90s, and Phil and Marge deliberately normalized lgbtq+ stuff when raising their children. And I’m gonna say that makes much more sense with Buck’s “I’m an ally, looking upon other men with a lustful gaze is perfectly normal 😊” blitheness. If he had been raised in a homophobic household he likely would have noticed his occasional gay thoughts because they would have probably scared him. But instead he’s only briefly tripped up by having to recontextualize these things in relation to being part of the community, instead of simply supporting the community.

In conclusion, Phil and Marge were still bad parents, but Buck coming out as bi is probably fine with them, and they possibly even approve of it more than anything else he’s ever done. And they’re trying to be better, so it would be funny if they’re actually overtly welcoming to Tommy and Buck’s like “damn all I had to do was kiss boys?”
