puss and kitty barely had any romantic interactions in the last wish movie and yet it was a way better written romance than the entirety of twilight
when i was watching puss in boots 2 for the first time i didn't have subtitles and so when he said "puss in boots has never been touched by a blade" i heard "puss in boots has never been touched by a man"

There's a detail about the map to the Wishing Star that I didn't catch the first time I watched Puss in Boots: The Last Wish, but which I love.
The map, and thus the landscape of the Dark Woods, changes depending on who is holding it. Each character is shown a different path to the star, with different obstacles. Importantly, each set of obstacles is centered around that character's driving motivation for seeking the star. The paths force the characters to face the their fears, their insecurities, their pasts, before they can reach the star that will grant them one wish.
Puss's map is, of course, centered around death. He's on his last life after treating himself carelessly and failing to value his first 8 lives. After 8 lives of "laughing in the face of death," Puss in now consumed by his fear of it.
Kitty's map is centered around loneliness. It is a map of her fears that she will always be alone, that she will never be able to find others with whom she can let her guard down and be uncomplicatedly happy.
Goldilock's map is centered around nostalgia and longing for the family and the home she feels like she was supposed to have. She is failing to see and value the life and family that she has right in front of her (even when the Dark Woods puts the bears' home - her home, her family's home - literally right in front of her).
In effect, the map forces the one holding it to confront what they need to face about their own lives in order to find happiness for themselves. It gives the characters what they need to solve their own problems.
And the best part about this is Perrito. What does the map decide Perrito needs? To catch a break, to take a nap, and to be handed some quick and easy solutions for once in his poor puppy life.
