Diversity is very important. Thanks for sharing this whomever you are.

Because DreamWorks was concerned about theological accuracy, Jeffrey Katzenberg (former Disney chairman) decided to call in Biblical scholars, Christian, Jewish, and Muslim theologians, and Arab American leaders to help his film be more accurate and faithful to the original story. After previewing the developing film, all these leaders noted that the studio executives listened and responded to their ideas, and praised the studio for reaching out for comment from outside sources.
The animation team for The Prince of Egypt included 350 artists from 34 different nations. Careful consideration was given to depicting the ethnicities of the ancient Egyptians, Hebrews, and Nubians properly.
Both character design and art direction worked to set a definite distinction between the symmetrical, more angular look of the Egyptians versus the more organic, natural look of the Hebrews and their related environments. The backgrounds department, headed by supervisors Paul Lasaine and Ron Lukas, oversaw a team of artists who were responsible for painting the sets/backdrops from the layouts. Within the film, approximately 934 hand-painted backgrounds were created.
THE PRINCE OF EGYPT (1998)

if i accidentally ran across Deliver Us on spotify and then subjected myself to listening to the soundtrack on repeat for five hours, i think it is only fair that you do too.

Dreamworks is making the best straight couples for real

I watched the Prince of Egypt yesterday and needless to say, it gave me so many ideas.

"They think of you as a God Crowley! You can speak with Pharaoh-!"
"Aziraphale... It's too late..."
When Aziraphale learns that the Pharaoh is about to have the Hebrew boys slaughtered, Crowley has already been living it up in ancient Egypt for years, masquerading as a snake god. So Aziraphale, who has been staying with the slaves, goes to Crowley and begs him for help, but it's already started. The two just manage one miracle and a boy in a basket washes up safely in Pharaoh's palace.

I call it! Prince of Omens! The au nobody asked for!
In the sixth grade, I had a very religious teacher which was ironic because he was teaching evolution and ancient history and he kept making it seem like WE were the ones that homo habilis was offending.
When we got to Egypt, he told us we were watching a movie and we were all excited because we were eleven. The movie was The Prince of Egypt. And he kept pointing out a bunch of stuff that he didn’t agree with and said it was wrong, but we didn’t care. My eleven-year-old ass was having the time of my life with the Disney-esque animation and fabulous songs.
I just realized YESTERDAY that it was just a wee bit strange that we were watching the most religious DreamWorks movie ever in the same class that was teaching evolution a few months before.
omg this movie is dohftvputdtfygygyyf

“You were always getting me into trouble. But then, you were always there to get me out of trouble again.”
i'm just curious bc i'm watching How to Train Your Dragon and i always forget how happy and calm it makes me feel. i mean, i did name my cat after Toothless the dragon. but i also love Lion King, that's my Disney comfort movie. and my Ghibli comfort movie is Spirited Away. watching any of these when i'm in a foul mood or my anxiety is high always helps 🥰 but i watch them just for fun too, not only when i'm in a mood. what about you?
Rewatching Prince of Egypt and Joseph King of Dreams has given me such an appreciation of how detailed and realistically stylized the character design was.
Like just go through and look, really look at the background characters. Everyone has similar features if they're meant to be of the same race/background. The women are allowed to have pointy/angular faces that retain a softness to them. The men aren't just a bunch of square and rectangular-faced people. Hair colors and eye shapes match up really well across large groups. Children actually look like their own person and not just tiny clones of their parents. It gets down the nose shapes if you trace the lines making up the bridge of the nose.
It just... something that more stylized and 3D animation lost at some point. And I know its because companies want to reuse assets and do the bare minimum for a profit. But people genuinely enjoy the small differences that denote a person's race/ethnicity and background heritage. If only corporations would stop making token passes at making something impactful.
And yes, these tiny details mean getting more PoC behind the scenes for authenticity and giving a stronger voice so EVERYONE benefits from the experience. Not just a bunch of white dudes older than velcro making "educated guesses" with cultures they googled for twenty minutes.
But that's enough of my soap box. I have barely literate fanfics to write. /lh
made a thing bc spock looks at kirk the way moses looks at tzipporah 👀

Concept art for Dreamworks’ phenomenal 1998 animated movie, The Prince of Egypt. This movie will always be very close to my heart; the traditional animation, digital effects, music, backgrounds, and story enthralled me and were so beautiful. This, and The Iron Giant, are my favorite animated movies, and they aren’t even Disney!
Anyone else see similarities between the pharoh's treatment of the enslaved Jews in the Moses story and the Israeli's treatment of Palestinians? No? Just me?

Was listening to some of the prince of Egypt soundtrack(cuz that shit has so many bangers) and suddenly a leaping locust somehow got in my room and jumped at my face and I damn near had a panic attack thinking i summoned the great plagues again by listening to prince of Egypt 🤣
So...
I have been thinking of an angst/tragic Bowuigi AU, but I don't know how to write it.
Picture it: Bowuigi, but a Prince of Egypt crossover.
The Koopa Kingdom has already taken over the Mushroom Kingdom and everything else but Sarasaland when Mario and Luigi are separated
Mario arrives and meets Princess Peach while she is in hiding in Sarasaland.
Bowser meets Luigi after he falls in the Darklands and soon they start falling for each other.
Cue wholesome Mama Luigi and Junior moments
Mario and Peach find a way to tell Luigi about what's really going on with Bowser's rule. Luigi is in denial.
Luigi finds out on his own and runs away, also going to Sarasaland.
Bowser's heart is broken.
Luigi is told to convince Bowser to let the Mushroom Kingdom go or face serious consequences (Burning Bush: Stars/Grambi/Rosalina)
Bowser and Luigi reunite, enter Kamek and Kammy (Playing With The Big Boys)
Luigi fails to convince Bowser, Bowser feels betrayed. Double angst
Consequence #1: Water turns to Lava (Water to Blood Plague)
"The Plagues", but replace 'brother' with 'lover'
Bowser & Luigi reunite during darkness plague and have a heart to heart
They love each other still, always have and always will and Bowser is almost convinced.
Enter Junior. He missed his Mama and wants him back, but is also scared of what's happening.
Bowser : "I will not be dictated to. I will not be threatened. I am the morning and evening star. I am Bowser! King of the Koopas!"
Luigi : "Something else is coming, something much worse than anything before. Please, let go of your contempt for life before it destroys everything we hold dear. Think of our son!"
Bowser is hardheaded.
Luigi tells Mushroom Kingdom & others to put a sign on their doors (a star/mushroom/what have you)
Enter Plague 10: Death of the Firstborn
Plague takes every firstborn child in the Koopa Kingdom
Cut to Koopa Castle as one last soul is taken.
The sounds of parents screaming in grief echo through the smoke-filled air.
Out of all the weepings and wailings in the Koopa Kingdom, Bowser and Luigi's are the loudest and most heart wrenching.
Bowser tells Luigi that Mushroom Kingdom and all other kingdoms he's enslaved are free while hunched over their son's dead body.
Luigi: *reaches out hand*
Bowser: *flinches away* "Leave me!"
Luigi leaves, Bowser silently cries as he watches him go.
Luigi starts bawling once more when he gets outside.
Has to keep it in to tell Mario and friends that Bowser is no longer in control of their kingdoms anymore.
Everyone is celebrating, but Luigi silently mourns
