How can people say fag or faggot with a straight face and say that they are educated in lgbtq+ history and oppression or an ally? Saying fag to a gay person is the same as saying the n-word to a black person yet people still feel entitled to say it because gay people were not enslaved and sold as property however people forget that they weren’t being sold because they were being executed. Black people have fought systematic oppression, but so have lgbtq+. Black people have been murdered in the streets, but so have lgbtq+. Black people were freed from slavery in 1865 and segregation in 1964, which was nowhere near quick enough, however lgbtq+ was legalised in 1967 , three years after segregation was made illegal, and the right to marriage was given to lgbtq+ people in 2013. How? How are people still saying fag? People think it's something that was yelled at people across the street during pride or when couples held hands or kissed, but it was originally being yelled at people as they were getting hanged or stoned or beheaded or imprisoned or murdered in the streets. And people forget that it still happens today. The small things like the sideways glances when they hold hands, or crossing the street when you see them coming or yelling fag when they kiss. How about some personal experience? I had someone look away in disgust when i told them I was lesbian, they never talked to me again. I have had to tell multiple people multiple time that I was lesbian because they didnt believe me. You arent very camp they said unlike him they said as they pointed to my gay friend. The underlying disbelif when i came out as bi after coming out as lesbian. They don't understand us. But then there are the big things, the fines, and the beatings on the streets, the stones being thrown and the “corrective” rapes, the imprisonment and the executions. The executions where as the people drop and they are hanging from the rope, DYING, someone yells faggot. So please dont use the word fag or faggot because you are telling us that you want us dead. You are telling us that you want us wiped out. Genocided. You are telling us you agreed with the nazis when they said genocide was the only solution. Solution. Like we are a problem that can be fixed. We aren't broken. Educated yourselves. The system is corrupt. Dont say fag if your not gay just as you wouldnt say the n-word if you werent black. Call people out on their bullshit.
