The clink of the coins caught his attention, honing in like a kitten to a mouse as his easy going smile melted into a concerned frown. “Waidaminute. Where'chu get dose? When did I evah mention food?” He looked curiously at said golden coins, the sparkle of greed tempered by distrust and pain. “Some sorta magic trick? Are dose even real?” His arm twitched, as if wanting to snatch one but thinking better of it.

A lure to get kids into the slave trade, he’d seen this sort of ploy before. Rando guy trying to promise all the little tykes dreams with a false, too sweet smile, like the cheese in the mouse trap. Once they’re in...snap!

Caught like helpless mice.

“Yeah, no, buddy. Yer gonna need paper dough, ya get me? We left da gol’ standahd a while ago? But moah 'mport'ntly, what’s yer gimmick? Wass th' catch?"

"Thou man of softer age, wouldst thou perchance wisheth to leave these streets so mired in filth and be given a life free from worry?" A strange cloaked figure questioned Rupa, the being having watched him for some time

The bronzed young teenager, with an icy blue, scrutinizing glance, sized up this newcomer that approached him so easily. The guy seemed to be dressed suspiciously with that big cloak. "Sorry, I'm too old ta be goin' wit' strangers, thanks," He muttered, returning to his own business, planning his next meal as he counted up the money in his hands he so rightfully earned (re: stole). "I'm kinda busy, so if that's all ya got, ya can go bug someone else, yeah?" He had enough for a small meal at sit down restaurant, maybe even another for later, nothing too fancy. About $40 or so, all in 5's and 1's as Rupa stuffed them back into his coat pocket, the garment torn and old, very well used. "So, uh, if ya can getcher ass outta heah, I'd appreciate it." He gave the guy a cheeky, overconfident smile.

Rupa let the coins fall into his hands, letting them sit there as he still felt weary about this whole plot. But then that line...it was...so..so insane, he didn't even entertain the thought. Wha-!" He laughed in disbelief. "What is this?! Ya think dis is some kinda joke? That I'm some...damsel in distress th' needs savin'? Dude...." he scoffed, glaring at...this...Raesal...? incredulously, letting the coins drop to the ground, the metal ringing sharp on the concrete under their feet. "Ya seriously think I'm gonna go wit' ya now? Wha-what mental hospital did YOU break outta? Dis some kinda sick joke ya like ta, ta play on homeless people, huh?" He was...a little harsh on the poor guy. But hey, he was done getting bullied and knocked down for just tryin' ta survive.

That least the guy could see that Rupa needed proof, but it still didn't explain things. "Okay....okay....say I believed ya? What sort of...proof?" He stepped forward cautiously, his legs tensing to jump away if necessary.

And jump he did! The sudden appearance of said golden rose had him leaping back a few feet, arms poised at the ready to block anything that came. Especially with Rae being really freaky-like. "Some kinda aht show?" He murmured, watching as a rip in the very space itself torn through the air. "Izzat...a medieval village?....Nuh-uh, no way. I said I ain't no damsel 'n dis ain't no fairy tale."

Wait a minute...a new start, a new home. Hell, he probably could nab the rose, sell it for a load of cash if he was quick enough and situation turned desperate.

"...okaaaay...say I buy dis..." he gestured to the portal with a nonchalant wave of his hand, "dis whole thing. What'f I wanna go back? 'N how do I know dis isn't some...intergalactic slave trade 'n that's jus' th' pretty screensavah?"

Rupa seemed to consider his options here, looking hesitant still, though Rae's demeanor helped "Aight Rae...I get ta keep this here flowah, right? I'll need ta test it out foist, ya get me?" Now in regards to his living arrangements, if at all, he considered those too.

A family might be nice but it would still feel stifling. A house on his own might be idyllic but he had no idea how the new world would work. A guest at the castle may make him untouchable, but he still was in a gilded cage...

Being in such an affluent and powerful house though, if he played his cards right, would lead to many more opportunities...where he could live in that big mansion he always wanted...

"Say I go wit'ya, in th' palace? I'd get my own room? Go and leave when I please?" He asked with a growing glimmer of giddy anticipation. "'N nobody would bothah me?"

The idea of any sort of military force possibly at Rupa’s beck and call already enticed the young man’s greedy side. “So…yer sayin’, any sorta scuzzball ‘r douchebag tries ta look a me funny 'nd they’re dead.” He smirked, already gaining a avaricious gleam in his eyes as he studied the glittering magic rose? “So, ya can learn magic? Real and true magic?!” His eyes lost their greedy shine for something more akin to childish wonder and hope. Something he hadn’t felt in such a long time…. Then his protesting, self preserving thoughts came back. “Hol'up. What sorts catches ahe there? Tuition must be a fortune. Is theh even a school?” He regarded this fairytale prince suspiciously.

“So, i’s nawt on’a those…’look funny ‘nd yer dead!’ sortsa situations? Okey, I kin deal with that. I’s fair, I take it? No one does any funny business, yeh?” Rupa questioned, though the mention of magic grabbed his attention real quick, his suspicions raising again. Though they were quickly quelled by amazement and childish imagination, something he hadn’t felt in a very long while… The imagery of a grand ivory cathedral with ornate trappings and elegant designs pulled his gaze towards the portal, taking in all the immaculate splendor of the structure. “Magic? Ya mean laike th’ Harry Potter wizarding shit? Fo’ real?!…Nd yer nawt pulling my leg?” He asked skeptically with a raised eyebrow. “Huh, okey, I’ll bite. Damn, that looks impressive. You sho’ i’s’not a church’r somethin’?”

The stranger before them resembled the nobles back home. And the very reverence he spoke to them, it had been quite a long time since they'd been addressed like that, if at all. The pair looked at each other briefly, sharing a look of confusion and slight incredulity. "Gods? Suppose you're half right, my friend." Phobos, the taller of the two spoke, with a slight laughing scoff from Alexander, his companion. Phobos regarded Alexander for a moment with a slight disgruntled look before continuing, "we know not where we landed sir, nor who you are-" In that moment, the sound of wind blowing back inward could be heard and they both looked back, surprised as the celestial entryway closed.

"....Aaaand it looks like we'll need a place to stay. Please, if you could direct us to the nearest inn, we'd be most appreciative, sir." Phobos humbly requested, with Alexander looking resigned with his brow furrowing in frustration, pissed off at their misfortune and hoping the guy in front of them was as friendly as he looked. They were no strangers to finding their own supplies, but even a little bit of help was a gods’send.

A random portal opens in a small village, a shining capital seen in the background, as two figures fall from it. Landing with precision with a hearty thud, the first rises. A stocky middle-aged man, in his late 30's by the looks of his short hair, weary face, and heavy set, turns to his companion, a lithe young man-few younger years than he- who was currently getting to his feet. "Where are we?" "If I knew that, we wouldn't be lost. Let's find some cover, hopefully find supplies."

Seeing the portal and those who came through a young man, his eyes like oval sapphires and hair a long, flowing golden sheet approaches the pair and bows once close enough.

"Greetings, creatures of the Divine, for what reason hath the Gods sent their children to us this day?" He questions, his voice warm though reverential and his gaze never leaving the larger of the pair.

Strange words for a strange place. Some kind of religion? The noble, Maltiernas was it?, seemed to think them some sort of deity. Once they find out the power they had, Alexander thought, they’d be chased out or worst, captured for some sort of greedy royal or tyrant. At the very least, they could collect what they needed before leaving.

The flower, though strange in sight, wasn’t surprising once they’d seen it’s remarkable colors and aura. “That is a most exquisite flower, Sir Mysinciul.” Phobos commented with genuine fascination, “Are they native here?”  Clearing his throat, Alexander cut in, “And where is here exactly?” His question cutting to the point of their conversation, already growing tired of the reverent attitude.

“Don’t be so rude, Xander!” Phobos admonished with a disapproving scowl. “Your home, sir? That is most gracious of you.” He replied with a satisfied, polite smile. “I’m sure you can spare two humble travelers a few days rest for our journey?”

Not merely wandering but off into town for his weekly errands, Shade hedgehog found a small reptilian creature running headlong into his side. His training kicking in, his chaos shield materialized to instantly block the assault and put some distance between him and the unidentifiable threat.

Getting a better look, it was a smaller, three eyed, scaly creature. To his horror, Shade realized the unknown presence looked--and smelled--like a common Black Arms soldier.

"Your next attack isn't for another five years, Black Doom. Is this your idea of a sneak attack? Pathetic." He scowled at the small creature, expecting this Black Arms soldier, however small, to telepathically rely his message to its leader.

Lil angel

A small creature wanders aimlessly through the streets of Mobotroplis looking for anything interesting to investigate or anyone to give it affection. Suddenly, as two of its three eyes widen from the rush a somewhat familiar scent, it rushes to the source, flinging itself pell-mell at a particular hedgehog.

Months were spent in this fantastical realm and though they did miss home, it felt welcoming to be here. Sure, not everything was a stroll in the gardens, but Alexander and Phobos did make it work. The magic was strange at first, but easy enough to pick up. Finding themselves at such a banquet, a sort of festival to the gods of love and family it seemed, the two men were dressed in their best today.  Alexander, decked in his comfortable earthy tones and practical clothing opposed to the native Vetmoran style, wearing a formal cotton tunic and leggings with thick leather boots, colored in deep browns, rich greens, and embroidered with ivy leaves and vines with Lady Mysinia’s crest, goddess of matrons and guardians, stitched onto the shoulder, dirty blond hair cut extremely short, and a sheathed ceremonial short sword tied to his his hip. Phobos preferred a flashier appearance compared to his companion, with purples, blues, and greens in an silky, loosely flowing outfit with flared sleeves and bell-bottom pants, with Lady Caevira, matron of nature and beauty herself, embroidered just above his heart with black hair pulled back loosely with dark colored ribbons woven in between his locks and many jeweled bangles ringing softly from his wrists.

The two approached the quartet at Phobos behest, something about making a good impression, Alexander recalled, with the thinner man stepping forward to spread out his arms in a flourished bow, akin to a performer starting his routine. “Ah, Yourr Immaculate Magestiees and Honorred Romai, Wonderrous God of Love. We thank thee for yourr gracious eenvitacion to thees grrand and joyous celebrracion.” All the while, Alexander, though he rolled his eyes at his companion’s dramatic introduction, did perform the obligatory military salute of this realm as he was taught, Phobos not leaving his bow until permitted to. “Tis welcomeeng to be included in such a festeeval.”

The royal castle is a bustling hive of joyous activity, its elaborately reliefed stone walls and high vaulted ceilings decorated with gilded banners and delicate floral arrangements as chefs lay out the finest foods and deepest drinks upon long silver tables.

Sweet songs speaking of love played on harps fill the air with ethereal gentle chorouses accompanied by Wispcraft displays orchestrated by the most skilled of Romaisium mages showing the full extent of their hearts' more affectionate passions.

Amongst all of this grandeur four figures stand out. Raesal, the Gentle King, his normal royal attire replaced by bright white robes edged in gold and decorated with the immaculate flowing crest of the God of Charm, Illasaris, and the Herald of Heart, Romai. His cheerful smile a true display of his wonderment and excitement as he wafts through the crowd as a doting wind of hosting delight.

Shevel, the Abyssal Lord, his dark hair swept back against his head, clean pressed black and deep blue suit detailed with homages to Obsidian, Matron of Midnight, Urax, Prosecutor of Punishment and, in a somewhat thinly veiled fashion, the Fallen Calm, Unsephus. His characteristic half scowl replaced for the moment by a warm smile and a black rose held in his teeth. His position off from the throngs of lovers.

Tisari, the Admired Advisor, dressed in gilded Royal Guard ceremonial armor which contrasts sharply against his ethnic toned skin and deep blue eyes, sitting upon his throne in the middle of the grand ballroom's central platform.

And perhaps most importantly for the occassion, the Herald of Heart and Lord of Love himself, Romai, standing amidst the crowds in a long, flowing cape attached to a deep pink and crimson silken suit bearing an exceptionally detailed sewn image of himself with the goddess Esalcis and god Illasaris on either side surrounded by a shimmering gold rose.

Happy to receive such a response, Phobos couldn’t help his broad smile as he rose to a stand. “Jou flatterr me weeth yourrr kind worrrds, grrracious Dios Amorr. But, a flowerr, laike frruit, needs good soil. Yourr people haf been most welcoming to our own strrange faces.”

Alexander nodded, noting his blush, recalling their sensibilities about bedfellows here was strange, open to taking more than one partner, as he cleared his throat. “It’s only due to my training, nothing more. Though, this...Lord Decimara, is it? has given me a challenge, provided rigorous and grueling pacing. It’s his doing that I’m still at my full potential.”

Both would not fall to bragging about their own merits in front of such company, even if Alexander was beginning to grow weary of so many people. His father trained him better than that. And Phobos, well, he took to the new social scene like a fish to water.

A bloom of magical origin is something significant indeed, they both mused. And while their thoughts were similar, each had their own perspective on such a unique object. Phobos wondered what each would look like and if it’s appearance was magical as well, reflective of the soul or external factors or if it could even be grown by anyone. Or did this divine mother had the only means to create this flower.

Alexander, meanwhile, pondered over its practical use, was it a type of wand to channel magic, given the way the man was brandishing it. A sort of weapon hidden? A status symbol? A religious item? Clearly it was held in high regard, given the similar reverence shown by the noble.

Matron…who? “Ah…yes…wee werre…not informed of thees place. It must’ve gotten lost along thee way. We werre a beet of a rrush today.” Phobos stepped forward to place himself in front of Alexander, striking a slight dramatic stance in efforts to seem bigger than life. An action which elicited an admonishing shake of the head from Alexander.

The vast land would be a much needed place to hide, should their need arise. With a knowing smirk thrown at the knight’s direction, Phobos stepped forward again towards the man. “That ees most generous and ‘onorable of you, good sir. We’d luf to stay and eenjoy jourr magneefeecen’ home. I’m surre that this deed…er, would do grrreat forr jourr…uh, favorr.” He spoke with a slight theatrical tone, playing up his role as this deity the man mistook him for. Well, it wasn’t a total lie, though Phobos didn’t know how much of his natural powers he still had being transported to this realm.
