Taehyung couldn’t help but smirk as the Maknae paced a hole into the wooden floorboards. Leaned back on both hands, that slight tilt to his head - that look wasn’t lost on Jeongguk. He knew it’s power well enough. Taehyung scoffed as he leaned back on his elbows. “Well, Gguk-ah?” A brow arched as he waited in that thick silence.
There was a muscle in Gguk’s jaw that seemed to throb with his pulse. His tongue prodding out the space of his cheek. A finger lifted toward the Visual as he approached. “Are you sure, Taehyung? Are you sure about this? About Her? You remember what happened, right?” He crossed his arms, watching that smug look melt away from Taehyung’s face.
It was replaced with something else, something…darker. Something that had Taehyung springing up from his comfy recline on the sofa. “Are you sure, Gguk-ah? Because I know what I want. I was sure two years ago, and I’m sure as hell sure now. I’m not letting her escape. Not this time.” Long spindly fingers clawed the air in front of Jeongguk’s face. “You know she feels the same way, Jeongguk.” He spoke between clenched teeth. “You knew it before, and you realized it at the Christmas party last year.” Taehyung’s mouth turned downward as Jeongguk sighed.
“It’s always been us, Tae.” The formalities dropped in this close private space between them. Jeongguk ran his fingers through the fluffy fringe of his hair. “What am I supposed to say? What am I supposed to do?” The other hand reached and tugged as he spun on his heel. Tae watched him, the frown deepened.
Taehyung sat on the edge of the couch as the maknae paced. “You need to find out for yourself, Jeongguk. I can’t make this decision for you. But, it’s obvious that you need to say and do something, Gguk-ah.” His lips pressed into a thin line as Jeongguk turned to face him.
“I love you.” The massive push of air through the maknae’s flared nostrils rattled the air. They met each other with lust blown pupils.
“I know.” Tae’s deep rumble cut through the tension. “I love you, too. But I also love her.”
There was something akin to a breeze that past between them as Jeongguk closed the distance. His hands wrapped around the back of Taehyung’s neck as their foreheads touched. Tae placed a hand on Gguk’s chest, right above the thundering beat of his heart.
The Visual smirked softly, “And you might love her, too.”
“What are we going to do?” Jeongguk’s lips brushed against Taehyung’s forehead, a soft sigh escaping. His eyes fluttered closed as he allowed himself to put all the puzzle pieces together.
Puzzle pieces? Right. It was always when you were just about finished - that one piece still went missing. So you gave up or chose to start a new puzzle. The boys all managed to keep their relationships, outside or with each other, secret. They were supportive of each other over heartbreaks - just like any friend would do. They were professional enough that private dalliances never affected their work ethic. They worked hard to get where they were, and they wouldn’t jeopardize that.
Sometimes you needed more, and some understood that - without judgment.
And that is what Jeongguk feared the most. “Love exists in as many forms as there are people.” He spoke quietly against the elder’s skin. Tae arched a brow as he tilted his head upward. Their noses brushed as he awaited an explanation.
“I..” Gguk looked sheepish as he scratched the back of his neck. “I might have mentioned, discreetly, about this..to Ki-Nam.” Tae groaned, his head rolling back as his eyes shut. “Now, hold on a second. I didn’t tell him who or what. I just asked a question, that’s all.”
“And that question was?” Tae’s fingers lingered at the pinched section of the maknae’s hip.
“Can you be in love with two people at the same time?” The younger muttered quietly. “And he said, that love exists in as many forms as people do. So, the combination that works for me might not work for others.” Tae’s brow ticked upward, shocked at such a mature - and logical explanation. “But, he said that I would know that combination - and that if I’m not careful? I..it could go away.”
Taehyung looked like a deer in headlights as that maturity came spilling out of Jeongguk. His gaze softened when those long fingers slid against the younger’s jaw. “Look at you, being an adult.” Gguk scowled, nipping at those invading fingers.
Taehyung was quick to remove them. The bunny bites could be…painful.
“So?” Gguk ruffled his hair again with a deep inhale. “I suppose we should plan something then, yes?” Turning to Taehyung, who was smiling wide - his wheels already turning.
“You need to get her alone, Gguk-ah. You have to let her know your intentions. You have to let her know that you’re serious.” Tae’s eyes darkened as he thought back to the karaoke room over a month ago. “I feel it’s typical that she feels the need to protect herself. But, she’s scared..and she’s stubborn.” Jeongguk smirked at that.
“I think that’s what I like about her.” The Maknae chuckled softly. “She comes across coldly, but the moment we need something? She’s there to worry about us. She really is sort of like family now, isn’t she?” He pursed his lips in thought as Tae nodded in agreement.
“She is. We know they had a difficult time when they got here. We’re not stupid - even if she and Tasha tried to keep it under wraps.” Taehyung let his fingers play over his bottom lip. “We’ve heard the stories, but to have that asshole just…”
“Taehyung, don’t.” Jeongguk’s voice turned raspy and deep. He remembered the way she looked, trying to scramble from the table. They were lucky to catch her before she found a cab. They both inhaled deeply before gazing at each other again. Taehyung tilted his face up as Jeongguk stood between his legs.
“You trust me, right?” Tae’s voice was quiet and deep. Gguk nodded quietly. “Then trust yourself, Gguk-ah. I do. My feelings for you will never change, even as we do. You’ll always be special to me. But, you know I can’t ignore these things.” He offered a slight smile. Tae has always been the odd man out. Still doing things on the far side of the typical path. He saw the world differently, and he acted upon it. Jeongguk was along for the ride, and it has taken them both places they couldn’t have found living in fear. They couldn’t have seen them if they weren’t living at all.
That thick muscle ticked in Jeongguk’s jaw as he held Taehyung’s gaze. His shoulders finally sagged, his head dropping in defeat. There was an energy between the three of them, this much was true. He wanted that sensation again.
Taehyung quietly watched the maknae process his emotions. He knew that pressuring Gguk would result in resistance. He considered it a blessing; he made the discovery on his own. It would be a higher chance of success with them working as a team.
“We’re supposed to do a late Thanksgiving get together.” Jeongguk’s voice was raspy, deep, and serious. Taehyung’s brows ticked upward with a nod. “But it’s not just our staff.” The younger’s arms crossed the broad expanse of his chest.
Taehyung sucked an irritated breath through his teeth. “That’s right. There’s supposed to be mixed in with one of the stations, right?” The younger nodded as he flopped down into a crouch. “That means the other students that either returned or stayed will be in the same space.”
“But, of course, we’re there for appearance sake, and then we’re off to do our own thing.” Gguk waved a hand haphazardly. “Maybe I’ll join you for karaoke this time.” Jeongguk lips lifted in a sly smirk. Tae tilted his head; the realization caused his eyes to pop wide open.
“You..” Tae stuttered as Jeongguk stood up, stretching with a smile.
“Hyungie, it’s a good thing that place was noisy,” Gguk smirked before moving to put on the coffee.
Taehyung’s growl wasn’t missed as Jeongguk couldn’t help smiling over the dig. The Visual wore a sour look as Gguk gleefully started breakfast. He glanced down to his phone, his fingers ghosting over a message he received earlier in the evening.
Tash-Tash: I can trust you, right, Tae-tae?
Tae-Tae: Of course, Tash-tash! Why would you question that now?
Jeongguk sang some melody as he cracked eggs and turned on the stove.
Tash-Tash: Because my best friend is a moron and I can’t stand it anymore.
Tae-Tae: Whaaaatt are you talking about, woman?
Taehyung stared at the message again - his eyes narrowing.
Tash-Tash: Tae, I’m gonna be straight with you. If you don’t do anything? She’s gonna bounce. I can’t keep bouncing with her. I’ve gotten my Visa handled. You know how I feel about Joon. I’m not going to blow this. That girl loves you, she’s scared, and she’s being stupid. I can tell you now…she’s already booking plane tickets.
Tae-tae: Thank you, Tasha. Thank you for trusting me and for telling me. I promise I’ll fix it.
Tash-Tash: Good, I’d like us to spend New Years together. Plus, I know you’re birthday is coming up. Get on it, Kim Taehyung, or I’ll come and put my foot in your ass! <3
At that time, Jeongguk managed to throw together a cheesy egg toast. Taehyung turned the phone toward him as he chewed. He watched the maknae’s eyes darken and lift to him. “Our girl likes to run, doesn’t she?”
Taehyung smiled as he picked up his portion. “Good thing, we love a good chase.”
——-

The blue light of the cellphone illuminated in the darkness of the room as she stared at the screen. A set of forest green eyes settled on the thin space in the curtain. She could see the world changing as something like Winter set over Hannam-dong.
Thick fingers dragged up her thigh and along the curve of her hip. “Jagiya.” The raspy voice thick with sleep ghosted a warm breath against the nape of her neck. She couldn’t help the smile threatening to split her face. The taller form tugged her from her perch on the edge of the bed. The phone lost to the piles of clothes already on the floor. A forearm across her abdomen held her captive with a groan. “Are you still talking to Taehyung-ah?” Namjoon didn’t bother to open his eyes, but she could tell he was definitely awake.
Tasha looked over her shoulder slightly, his face obscured by the pillow and her shoulders. “I did.” Her gaze moved to the window again. “He said he would fix it.” She chewed the meat of her bottom lip.
“Tasha.” There was a stern set to his tone. She knew that tone, and already her eyes were rolling, but she knew he was right. “I know he cares about her. Trust us. Trust him.” Her fingers slid along the veins protruding along his arm. “Trust me.” She turned to find his eyes open, dark and dazzling - full of conviction.
Tasha turned fully in his embrace, her fingers dancing along the passionate purple blossoms under his collarbone. He encircled her fingers with his hand, his lips easing along the worry lines of her forehead.
“I don’t understand how she tells me to go for it with you - but she denies herself.” An irritated huff as Namjoon chuckled sleepily.
“You weren’t that easy either, jagiya.” Tasha ducked her face into his shoulder at that.
“I didn’t expect to…” He watched her fight to say the words.
“Fall in love?” He finished.
“…with you.” She added.
“I was just one of those people. Didn’t even believe in true love.” Tasha’s eyes widened. Maybe it was the sleep-thick rasp of his voice? Perhaps it was the lyrics? “All of my wonder. You are the answer..”
They stared at each other in that heavy silence before Namjoon pulled her closer. His head resting atop hers as he drew lazy circles along her spine. She fell asleep against the steady thrum of his heart.
Namjoon watched the world flutter by outside his window. His gaze lowered to the steady rise and fall of her shoulders. He fell back into that steady rhythm of sleep with her in his arms. A luxury that was rare and welcome.
Namjoon held Tasha a little tighter that night.
Taehyung-ah, don’t give up.

It hurts.
Namjoon collapsed onto the bench, a hand clutching over his heart. Panting, he willed the trembling muscle to calm. His lungs burned as he fought to catch a deep breath. His nostrils flared as he fought back the creeping panic inside of him. This was a pain different from any other. His memory rolls back to her enthusiastically kissing another man. The words that he had mustered the courage to speak swallowed back bitterly. She turns to see him, mouth agape in shock, staring.
The confusion on her face made the moment all that more embarrassing. Because she couldn’t understand the pain etched into his face. Her brows furrowed as he wore that devastation so deeply. It almost looked as if he had witnessed the greatest betrayal. She reached out to him, suddenly wanting to pull him closer - and he ran. Namjoon turned on his heel to escape her. He took off in a dead run across the college campus. There would be no catching him, she knew that. Her boyfriend, just as conflicted, puts a hand on her shoulder and squeezes. A small amount of comfort as he wondered what he just saw. He wondered if she saw that broken-hearted gaze stealing the light from Namjoon’s eyes? He wondered if she knew?
Did she ever know?
And now?
I’ve lost her.
Namjoon sits in their favorite spot as the sun settles low in the sky. The vivid orange-blue, purple dusk of night time brings him little comfort. His bottom lip trembled, eyes closed, as his head fell backward. The oil-slick flickers behind his eyes deepen as his memories flood in.

It wasn’t uncommon to see strangers moving into the neighborhood. It was strange when they didn’t look the same. It became the talk of the town when Mia’s family settled in. Namjoon was 5 years old when he laid eyes on 3-year-old Mia Graves. His family knew her parents and were quite surprised when they showed up with their newly adopted daughter. It was no secret that they had a hard time conceiving - and had pondered adoption. So when they finally returned home with a beautiful dark-haired, hazel-eyed toddler? They couldn’t find a moment of peace.
Luckily, it wasn’t Mia - a curious toddler, she was easily entertained with the simplest things. It was from the questions being fielded about how there was an obvious difference in their child’s heritage.
She hadn’t started speaking, while stressful, gave them hope that she’d pick up another language just as quickly. There was a large Summer gathering that brought all the families together. Namjoon was smart enough to understand that there was something different about her. She played easily with the children in their age range. Mia had a habit of hyper-focusing on things that caught her interest. Namjoon saw this for the first time when a butterfly wobbled by to land on a flower. He felt his brow furrow as she knelt down to watch it. It seemed like an eternity before she blinked. He felt something strange as he watched the slow, soft smile that formed.
“Wouldn’t that be cute?” Namjoon’s mother quipped loudly. She was on her third glass of wine as she nudged Mia’s mother. “We should let them get married!” Mia’s mother sputtered her drink giving the other woman a wide-eyed look.
“Don’t do that to them, they’re just kids.” Her brow furrowed as if something unpleasant had been stirred in her own memory.
“Nonsense!” Namjoon’s mother waved the thought off. “Joonie! You should be Mia’s protector!” His father groaned, slipping back inside the house. Mia’s father held up his hands as her mother implored silently to assist in the conversation.
Namjoon pouted, “Mo-ooo-oom. She’s a girl!” Typical tiny human behavior. Namjoon’s mother tutted as she escorted him over to where Mia remained captivated by something so small and simple.
“Mia, honey.” Namjoon’s mother took his hand - and hers. “My Namjoon is going to protect you ok?” Namjoon groaned as the other little boys snickered off to the side. His mother put Mia’s hand in his, smelling slightly of fermented fruits and sugar. “Look how cute!” She stood leaving the two staring at their connected hands.
Namjoon scratched at the back of his neck, trying to focus on anything else. “Don’t mind my mom. She’s really nosy.” He scoffed tilting his head down to Mia. His next words were cut as Mia’s wide-eyed look was aimed at their gathered hands.
She looked up at him, with that slow, soft spreading smile. “Hi, Namjoon.” His name sounded strange coming from her. He couldn’t tell what it was - but he knew he liked it. His hand closed over hers.
The fullness of her smile crinkled the corner of her eyes, the sunlight fading behind them gave her eyes an almost golden glow.
“Hi, Mia. Don’t worry about anything, ok?” He knelt down to her level. “I’ll protect you.”

“Why do you have to be so weird, Mia?” The taller boy stomped on her notebook with a grin. She’d been following the local butterfly swarms. The notebook held detailed drawings of wings, color variations, and the flowers they frequented. There was a pink flush underneath the warm brown of her skin. She narrowed her eyes until they seemed to resemble feline slits. The taller boy and his friends smirked as she walked toward him. “What’re you going to do, eh?”
Before she could open her mouth, let alone swing that cocked right arm, there was the sound of impact as he hit the ground hard. The tall boy got knocked down a peg as Namjoon seemed to drive him into the ground with his shoulder. There was a hissing poof as the boy lost the air in his lungs. Namjoon stood up looking down on the bully with unbridled fury in his eyes. The boy’s friends decided it was no longer worth the trouble as they helped him up.
The sound of a weak cough echoed in the distance as they made their escape. Namjoon turned to Mia gently trying to salvage scrap pieces of paper. Her lip tucked between her teeth as she sighed.
“Hey.” He finally turned to help her gather the pieces of paper. The smeared drawings were handed over to her. “..I’m sorry, I-I should have been here sooner.”
Mia shook her head, that soft, slow-spreading smile that made his heart stutter. “Thank you, Namjoon.”
He scratched the back of his neck as he stood. Namjoon’s gaze was off in the distance as he lowered a hand to help her up. “Come on, let’s get home.”

“Happy Birthday, Nam-Joooonniieee! Happy Birthday to yoouuu!” Sung in various degrees of unison. Namjoon groaned while blowing out the candles on his 17th birthday cake. A sound of applause echoed as the parents dropped their gifts on a table. “Alright, kids behave - but have fun!” The adults adjourned to the kitchen.
“You’re a man now!” A thick hand clapped Namjoon’s shoulder, “Maybe you’ll grow a little taller now?” Blake grinned down at Namjoon.
“Dude, we’ll never be as tall as you,” Namjoon smirked, clapping his hand against the other boy’s shoulder. Blake was a month older than Namjoon, but he was already 6’1”! Blake stood out mostly because of the gentle demeanor inside of that large frame. “We are turning into men, aren’t we?” The other boys gathered around to spy the party guests.
Girls.
The girls they went to school with. The girls that had been a part of their childhoods. These girls were blossoming into puberty right alongside them. That awkward stage of life when you realize the destructive power of hormones. How had they gone from ‘eww, girls’ to ‘ooh, girls’ so quickly? The girls, paying them no mind, turned their eyes on them. The boys quickly averted their gazes, feeling their ears heat-up at the sudden attention. The girls shrugged and continued to talk about their own changes.
“Mia is really pretty,” Blake spoke softly, as they all snuck a glance over to the group again.
Namjoon felt the muscle in his jaw tick. “Mia is Mia. Come on. Let’s not get all sappy, ok? W-We’re men over here!” He gave a curt nod. “We should talk about boy things. This is my birthday, after all, gentlemen.” They cleared their throats and laughed loudly. They laughed at half-mustaches and acne. They laughed at the voices cracking and still too high.
But every once and awhile, they stole glances over to the girls.
Later that night when the bulk of their school friends left - it was just a gathering of childhood buddies.
And a bottle.
“Come on, Blake! It’s your turn!” They did their best to keep their activities quiet. The adults were busy relaxing after a long day.
“Spin the bottle already!” Namjoon pushed his best friend.
“Ok, ok!” Blake spun the bottle with shaking fingers. They all watched it laughing as the bottle started to slow.
“I bet he gets to kiss Namjoon.” A girl, Ava, chuckled leaning into Mia while giggling. That giggling stopped when Mia gasped. Blake blinked as he and Mia locked eyes.
“Oh, w-wow. You got Mia.” Namjoon could find his voice suddenly.
“Go on then! Stop stalling!” Another boy piped up on the other side of Namjoon.
“Oh, this is ridiculous!” Mia popped up on her knees, her hands framing Blake’s face. “It’s just a peck.” She hoped he didn’t feel the tremble in her fingers. She leaned forward, lips pursed, dotting them against his mouth. “There!”
The world was hot, dry, and dark for a mere few seconds when their lips connected. Namjoon found himself grabbing his chest. The others fell over laughing and making faces. Blake turned three whole shades redder than normal. He blinked slowly, letting his fingers sliding against his lip.
“My turn!” Ava spun the bottle eagerly. Namjoon was in a state of shock, unable to comprehend the sensation rolling through him.
“OOooOooh, Ava gets to kiss Namjoon!” That brought him out of his stupor in enough time to see Ava pursing her lips. He swallowed thickly as she smashed her lips to his in a far longer connection than he had liked.
Bewildered, Namjoon turned to Mia who merely chuckled at his state.
The rest of the friends filed out of the house. Leaving Mia and Namjoon to clean up the mess. Both of them were stuck in a loop of awkward - until he broke the silence. “Did you like it?”
Mia hummed a soft response, “It was a nice party.” She swiped a row of cups into a garbage bag. She felt Namjoon’s hands on her shoulders, he spun her around the dark brown of his eyes hard.
“I mean...I meant...with Blake?” He seemed startled at this moment of bravery. He moved his hands from her shoulders, scratching at the nape of his neck.
“The kiss?” Mia tilted her head as if she had forgotten about the whole ordeal. “Namjoon it was just a peck. It wasn’t even a real kiss.” She gave him a dour expression. “I sure as heck don’t count it as a kiss. There’s no meaning behind it. It’s just a game.” Her body was half turned from him as she went to dump more garbage.
“I mean it was your first kiss, wasn’t it?” Namjoon furrowed his brow as if he realized he was overthinking it.
“No way! That’s not how my first kiss is going to go.” She sputtered into laughter. He suddenly felt lighter with the sound. “No, Kim Namjoon. My first kiss will be ...amazing.” There was a thoughtful expression that caused her eyes to sparkle. His heart wanted to break free of his chest and leap into the tender embrace of her hands. “And besides, Ava has had a crush on you forever. You should be lucky.” She gave him a soft elbow to the ribs. “Come on, we have finals next week. I need to get home.”
That soft, slow-spreading smile undid him every time. He scoffed into a laugh. “Ava has a crush on all the boys that are taller than her. It’ll pass.” He watched her laugh while joining her to clean up the mess.
She was right, though. Her first kiss would be amazing.
It just wouldn’t be him.

Finals were over and Summer dawned on their neighborhoods. They were being pressured to consider the rest of their life - i.e, College. Namjoon would be a Senior in the fall. He had the best grades so his school wasn’t a concern.
Leaving Mia behind was.
The sweltering heat of Summer became a time of awareness. The boys had developed muscle going through the changes of adolescence. The girls were glowing and mesmerizing as they tested lip tints and soft makeup.
Blake confessed to Mia - and for some reason? It didn’t bother Namjoon at all. Blake was his best friend. Mia was his best friend. He was happy for Blake, truly. But, he knew something that his best friend didn’t. He knew Mia. He knew her better than anyone else - and they were not compatible.
A camping trip to the woods, splashing in the river and the crackle of a fire at night. The friends were gathered to make memories. Blake kissed Mia under the moon by the river with the glow of the fire behind them. It was a sloppy attempt coupled with Blake getting a little too handsy for Mia’s liking.
“Oh, come on, Mia!” He furrowed his brow as she narrowed her eyes at him. “I just touched your hip” He seemed bewildered by her annoyance. “They do it in the movies when kisses happen.”
“Blake, this isn’t a movie. Don’t you think you need to make sure I'm ready to take that kind of step?” The annoyance turned to hurt as he seemed to brush off the suggestion.
“Man, I’m going back to the fire. This is dumb.” He scoffed making quick work to join the others.
Mia sighed with her head lowered, the shift of fabric over her shoulders caused her to close her eyes. She didn’t even have to ask. “Hi, Joonie.” That soft, slow-spreading smile lifted to his taller frame.
“Hey, kiddo. Need some company?” He let his arm drape across her shoulders as they stared up at the stars.
“Yeah.” She watched as he turned his gaze skyward. Her head tilted as she studied his profile. Namjoon had really filled out over the summer. Broad in chest and shoulders, arms defined, a perfect side profile set with a strong jawline. She found herself staring at the fullness of his lips. The heat crept into her face as she tilted her gaze someplace else. “Thanks, Namjoon.”
He hummed a soft response tugging her closer into the shadow of his body.

School started
Everybody had changed over the summer - grown and filled out. It was exciting, and it was competitive. Namjoon focused on his studies as per usual, making time for football as he could. He, like the rest of his friends, was determined to build more muscle. The girls were into their looks a bit more.
Homecoming was close.
New faces joined their circle. New friendships were built and old ones? Well.
It was a few weeks before Homecoming in the Varsity Locker room - and boys will be boys.
“I think that Mia girl is hot,” Namjoon heard someone quip. “...maybe I can ask her to homecoming. That’s one kiss I’d savor for life.” There was male laughter as he rolled his eyes.
“Nah, that one is a bit of a prude.” Namjoon yanked the shirt down over his shoulders at the voice that spoke up. “I tried to kiss her and she got all skittish. It was the perfect moment too! Under the moon, by the river.” Blake stood up, he had the audacity to have grown another 3 inches over the Summer. “..I was perfect.”
“You were impatient.” Namjoon finally butted in, his arms crossed as he smirked. “There’s nothing wrong with asking a girl for permission. You better get that through your head, all of you.” A hint of disappointment in his tone. “While, yes, the girls are pretty - we still have to act like decent human beings. This is not the time to go thinking with your pants parts.” Blake scoffed as the mood was suddenly broken.
The guys filed out as Namjoon hefted his bag over his shoulder.
“You should tell her you like her,” Blake spoke up now that they were alone.
“What are you talking about?” Namjoon gave him an incredulous look.
“Namjoon, we’re not stupid.” Blake’s arms were crossed against his chest. “At least I’m not. I’ve seen you looking at her since we were kids.” He shook his head as he shrugged on his jacket. “You better make your move before it’s too late. Again.”
Namjoon smiled, the dimples setting in his cheeks, shoving his hands in his pockets. “I don’t have anything to worry about, Blake. When the time is right. I will.” There was a moment of awkward silence before they left.
Homecoming Week
“Mia Graves will you be my Homecoming date?” A bouquet of calla lilies was presented to her in the hallway. A boy on the floor with a declaration. He could see that strawberry tinge under the warm brown of her skin.
“Seojoon, you big softie you. Of course I’ll be your date.” She laughed as he picked her up and swung her around.
He was too late, again.
Homecoming Night
Everybody swayed to the tune of a slow song. Seojoon and Mia kissed - and it was amazing. They decideD to start dating. Namjoon rejected Ava for the last time.
Christmas Break
Namjoon was settling into leisurely reading when he received a text message.
Mia: Joonie.
He knew that she only called him that when something is wrong.
Joonie: Just come over, Mia.
He fixed hot chocolate and found the fuzzy warm blankets. She showed up minutes later her eyes red from crying. He pulled her in out of the cold, then bundled her up with hot chocolate and blankets. She fell asleep against his chest and he hoped it would stop beating so hard against her ear.
“We broke up.” Her voice was small. “Maybe they’re right? I’m just weird aren’t I?” There was a bitter tone that he wasn’t used to.
“No, Mia. You’re just...different from everyone else. And you know what?” He pushed the coils from her face. “That’s perfectly alright. Plus, you know I’m here for you.” A dimpled smile set her at ease.
“Thanks, Namjoon.” That soft, slow-spreading smile that she gave no one else. Even during the course of her relationship with Seojoon? She never smiled like that for anyone but him.
He pulled her against him again.

Let us go forth and claim our heart’s desire. Let us go forth and forge new paths. Let’s go forward.” Namjoon looked out amongst his classmates, gathered family and friends. “We were pushed to succeed by those around us. Now we move further forward to make them proud and realize our dreams. My friends - we take our first steps today.” There was applause for the Valedictorian Kim Namjoon. He moved his tassel to the other side of his cap and the rest followed.
“Congratulations to us all.”
The day passes by in a blur as they gather, as they always had, at his house.
“We did it!” A yell in unison as they raised their glasses. Namjoon was leaving for a college quite the distance away. But, its reputation was hard to deny. The house slowly empties as he begins to clean up.
“You’re going to forget about me.” Mia pouted as she helped clean up.
“I could never forget about you.” He laughed softly. She missed that fond lovelorn look that filled his gaze. Too busy picking up trash to realize the nervousness bubbling within him. “Plus we have email.”
Mia laughed, a sound he had sorely missed. “That’s true.” She bit into the meat of her bottom lip. “I’m going to miss you, Joonie.”
“I’m always closer than I seem, Mia. Remember that.” They shared a quiet smile.
The Summer was upon them again.
Namjoon spent that summer making memories with Mia. Taking pictures, going to places they said they wanted to visit together. He felt like she might understand - that she might just see what he’d been hiding - harboring all these years.
Mia realized that Namjoon has really grown into a dependable, wonderful man.
The Summer ended - and Namjoon leaves for college. He promises to be back for her High School graduation.

“Do you have everything?” He asks softly. Mia was a bundle of nerves trying to arrange her speech.
“How the hell did you do this?” She whines softly.
“Just breathe. You’ve got this.” The connection is full of static. “I’m really sorry I couldn’t be there, Mia. I didn’t think this internship would get extended.”
“Joonie, stop. You’re living your dream right now. I appreciate you calling me. It’s...good to hear your voice.” She smiled softly to him even as the video glitched. “Plus, I’ll see you when you get back right? By the time I get settled on campus - you should be back!”
He smiled at the screen. “Exactly. Now, go knock them dead! And tell my dad not to shake the camera or I’ll get pissed.” He playfully furrowed his brow, causing them both to laugh.
“You got it!” She blew him a kiss, checked her reflection in the camera. “I’ll talk to you later, Joonie.” She gave him that soft, slow-spreading smile. “Thank you, Namjoon.”
Mia had matured so much since he left. She was a beautiful woman. Those hazel eyes had lightened over time to something like warm gold. The springy coils of her hair were tipped in a dark purple. He still saw the little girl that stole his heart all that time ago. “No problem, Mia.”
The video call disconnected but his gaze lingered on the screen. He was stuck in the UK for an internship for the next four months. He should have been back but he did such an excellent job - they extended his time.
He made the decision then and there; that he would confess.

The internship lasted six months instead of four. He wasn’t able to keep in touch with Mia like he wanted. There were sporadic emails and text messages - but the art house firm he worked for was world renown. He got back home to visit his family before heading back to the dorm.
He told them to keep his return a secret. He wanted to surprise her.
Namjoon was the one surprised. This stunning woman was leaning against a man who nuzzled into the space where her neck met her shoulder. There was this bright smile painted across her face. The man spun her around in his arms as she looped hers around his neck. He kept walking toward them because he couldn’t believe his eyes. He hoped it was some sordid illusion playing out in front of him. Mia reached up to cup this man’s face as he spoke to her. Their foreheads touched as she leaned up to kiss him. The Mia who had shown little interest in the males around her - was enthusiastically kissing another man.
“Mia?” The couple was disturbed by the calling of her name. Mia’s eyes went wide as she saw Namjoon looking perplexed - no...betrayed?
“Joonie?” He looked different than the last time they spoke. She was awash in a sensation, an emotion that left her robbed of words. Namjoon looked between her and the man with his hand around her waist.
Pain exploded in his chest as he backed away from her. He turned on his heel - and he ran. She called after him to no avail. She was left confused, watching him disappear into the distance. Why did that bother her so much? Why did that expression on his face give her pause? She felt her boyfriend’s hand squeeze at her shoulder. He tilted his head down to her catching the confusion etched in her features.
Her boyfriend hadn’t felt a need for jealousy since they met. But now? He watched a man lose his very spirit at seeing her with someone else. Did she see the light leave his eyes?
Did she really even know?

Namjoon’s heart was quiet as the moon rose in the night sky. He was too late, again. It hurt. It hurt because he was sure this time. It hurt because he was so sure that there would be no one but him for her.
No one for her but him.
His vision blurred as tears filled his eyes and he could do nothing but let them fall. The streams turned to full out sobbing within minutes.
The sound of little bells chiming in the wind caused him to stare at his hands. The ethereal glow of starlight emanated from the pooled tears. A soft wind chime echoed as a breeze blew across his face. His gaze turned to the sky once more.
His vision blurred again as the star-filled streams slid down his face.
The sobs shook him as he wept. He cried because the one thing he wanted to be was gone.
His head fell back against nothing as he noticed that the moon wasn’t as bright and the night seemed to creep in the corners of his vision.
Namjoon sat listlessly as his celestial tears sparkled in the wind.

----------------------------------------------------
You were driving back from work, it was really crowded in your area. Songs were playing from the speakers, but you were getting impatient so you opened you phone to check as you waited for the road to get clear and that is when you noticed
11 missed calls from Nika 🌻
21 missed calls from My Love 🐨
9 missed calls from Tata 🎙️
3 missed calls from Land Lady
And over 100 texts
"Damn! Whats wrong?!" You shouted .
You contemplated whom to call first and you hit the call button for Nika your roommate, she picked it up as soon as the call connected. And before you could say anything you heard.
"WHERE ARE YOU BITCH! DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA HOW WORRIED WE ARE?"
"Woah! Calm down. My phone was on silent mode, I was in a meeting and forgot to turn the sound back on. But why so many missed calls? And what's with the crowd in our neighborhood?" You asked.
"You're in the neighborhood? Turn around and drive to some alley and send me the location. Quick" you heard a background voice that said "tell her to send it to Namjoonie too" you smiled at Hoseok's voice.
"Nika? Where are you and what's going on?" You asked getting worried of her tone, she rarely sounded that worried.
"I'll tell you when you get to safety, but untill you reach the dorms, do not and I mean DO NOT leave the car and wear a mask and the cap you keep in the dashboard locker" she said hurriedly.
"But-"
"No buts do it quick and at any cost do not leave the car or check your socials" she said "DO NOT" you were ichting to ask why or to check your social account but you knew she asked you not to do so for a reason so you'll agree. You wore the cap and hat and shared your live location to Nika and Namjoon.
Within minutes, you recieved a call from Namjoon.
"Are you safe?" Was the first thing he said, you could hear the worry laced in his words.
"Yes, Joon but whats going on?" You asked "And I am parked by Lamp post in XXXX Lane"
"I'll tell you everything when you come back, just do what Nika has told you. Sihyuk Hyung has already sent someone to reach you" he said.
"Hitman Bang?! Why is he involved? DID I DO SOMETHING?!" You asked freaking out.
"No no, calm down jagi. Everything is fine. Everything will be fine okay" he said "I've gotta leave to reach the dorm in time, be careful. Okay babe?" He said
You hummed and hung up.
You waited listening songs and waited. Your patience was running out and you picked up your phone and were about to unlock it and check your notifs when a knock came from the window. You screamed at the sudden sound and got even more scared when you saw two figures in black hoodie and black cap and black mask outside your window. You were so scared and thanked lord that all your windows were up and the two kept knocking. You were about to dial the police when one of them lowered their mask, to reveal Beomgyu, as he shouted, "Noona open the door". You hit the unlock button for the car and he got in on the back seat while another voice came to your side and asked you to scoot to the passengers's seat. You ruffled across to the other seat, and Beomgyu said, "Thats Samuel, our guy, don't worry" in english, you literally felt that he was in a spy movie feel and you couldn't deny that you felt the same, with all this going on.
Samuel got into the driving seat and you peered back Beomgyu and asked "Whats going on Gyu-ya?" You asked as you put on your seat belt.
"Ah, Kookie hyung told me to not talk about it untill you reach there" he said.
"There where?" You asked
"To the dorms" He said "We couldn't send Samuel alone cause you don't know him and wouldn't trust him"
"Like hell I wouldn't" you said and looked at Samuel and said "no offence" and he nodded.
"So I came along. Don't worry Bang PDnim will take care of the rumours" he said.
And your eyes went wide and a 1000 thoughts rushed to your head "Rumours? Oh MY GOD!" you freaked out
"Sir you were not supposed to say that" Samuel said
"Oh!" He said and covered his mouth "please don't freak out Noona! Please! Or Your friend will kill me!"
"Who Nika? Where is she?" You asked.
"She's in your apartment, with Hoseok hyung in it, he can't leave" he said and added "please don't ask me anything more"
You sighed and said "okay"
"Are you hungry? I have snacks" he said and you were about to pick up your phone but Beomgyu snatched it away quickly. "No! Don't check your phone. Here eat this" he said and gave you a packet of Cheetos that you ate begrudgingly.
----------------------------------------------------
You entered the dorm building, to find Namjoon and Taehyung in the loby, as soon as they saw you they rushed to you and Namjoon hugged you tightly. You suddenly felt another weight on the back and understood the it was Tae on the back.
"Can I now know what happened? What rumour?! Was it the reason why our neighborhood is mobbed?" You asked as they left the embrace, you took your phone and bag from Beomgyu who gave you a hug and Samuel parked your car and gave you the keys. You went into the lift and what the two started to explain to you was.
You had a dating rumour with Kim Taehyung
"WHAT!" You had shouted.
"Someone got a clip of the two of you talking and then concocted wierd stuff about similar rings and hoodies" Taehyung said.
"Also that one time you left your phone in out practice room, and it was visible in some Video and you have mirror selfiea with it the backcover being same" Namjoon said.
"But how did they know my name and address?!" You asked.
"Now that's the mystery well all are on" Taehyung said.
"Now you know why Si-hyuk hyung was involved? And we are all so worried cause someone leaked something. The background staff or any person's faces are always blurred. There's someone on the inside" Namjoon said, as you entered the dorm apartment with them.
"I have a dating rumour?!" You mumbled "I HAVE A DATING RUMOUR! OH MY GOD ! WHAT AM I GONNA DO?! I'LL HAVE TO LEAVE THE CITY?!!! CITY HELL I'LL HAVE TO LEAVE THE COUNTRY! WHERE WILL I GO! OH MY-" You were rambling and Namjoon just held your shoulders and crashed his lips with yours. Yes, Namjoon's personal way of shutting you up when you're rambling or freaking out. Once, when you were freaking out about q project infront of Jungkook while you were waiting for your boyfriend, he actually ran and called Namjoon from his studio to calm you down.
You just instantly melted into the kiss and tangled your hands on the back of his neck. A shiver ran down your back as you felt his tongue rub against your lower lip gently asking for entrance, and would have gladly given if you hadn't heard a sound of throat clearing.
"Please get a room before you decide to suck faces" Taehyung said as he made way to the couch. Giving one last kiss on your cheek he took your hand in his and you both walked in. You found all the 5 boys sitting on the couch. There were two spots left as Hobi was still stuck in your apartment with Nika, you and Joon took seats.
"How's are famous girl?" Jimin chirped and everybody looked at him "Too early?" He asked.
"So who was it?" You asked
"Well it was the SKGossip channel but we are sure that there is someone on the inside" Suga said as he lit up a tablet and showed you the screenshots of the pictures that they used as 'proof', you just kept staring at the pictures spellbound and didn't know what to say. "Don't worry, were filling a law suit and will get to the bottom of this, but you need to stay here for a while" Suga added
"Here? Why?" You asked
"Because nobody knows about this location and you will have to work from here or take leave" Namjoon said.
"But, what about my clothes and things" you asked.
"Hobi will get them on your way back, talk to Nika about that" he said, taking your hand in his to rub soothing circles.
"Where would I stay?" You asked. Of course you've been to the dorm before but you have never stayed over night as your over night "plans" generally took place at your place.
"Well, Jimin could shift to Hobi's room and you could stay there" Jin said shrugging.
"Or she can just stay with me" Namjoon suggested. And everybody looked t him and Jungkook said "We don't want to hear you guys doing it"
"We wont-" you were saying but were cute of by Namjoon saying "We'll be quiet"
"Namjoon!" You hit him on the arm.
"Ouch! What" he said rubbing the spot and the boys laughed.
And thats how you ended up living with the idols of your dreams, with your Roommate/only friend visiting from time to time. The law suit was going on and they said they had received and anonymous email with all the files and videos. So the company and the authorities were looking into the matter. While you often found yourself at extreme situations of nose bleed staying surrounded by 7 hot as hell men.
----------------------------------------------------
"JUNGKOOOK!" You shouted
"HOW MANY TIMES DID I TELL YOU GUYS NOT TO LEAVE YOUR BOXERS IN THE BATHROOM!?" you said scrunching your nose in disgust and the bunny boy appreaded and asked.
"How did you know they are mine?" He said.
"They have Iron mans face on it! Whose else could they belong to?" You said.
"Her Namjoon hyung had a Winnie the Pooh boxer!" He said.
"Yeah, I know" you said and went inside the bathroom to do your business.
It was one of your off days so you went over to their home theater to watch a movie. When you are stuck here, might as well enjoy your time.
You took a comfortable seat and schemed through netflix, amoung your search your eyes landed upon a movie of your native country. Yeah, not being able to go to your place, made you feel homesick, so you put it on. And right then you heard the door open and in came Suga, and took a seat and got comfortable.
"You wanna watch something?" You asked him, pausing it.
"I did, but I didn't know what to watch, so this is fine, please put on the subtitles" he said and leaned into the seat.
With in 5 minutes of the movie you heard a walking music coming to your way and a chirpy "Hiii. I wanna watch too!" He said "Can you please start from the first, please Yn-ah!" He said "Also I brought pop-corn" he said.
"okay" you re-started the movie.
"Wait wait, so they are best friends but she loves him and he loves the other girl?" Hobi said.
"Yeah" you said. Suddenly a scene appeared and you laughed, but Hoseok and Yoongi were lost, so you explained them in context to your country as to why the part was funny. You enjoyed it in the starting but slowly it got annoying as you had to pause the movie alot to explain them.
"Wah! The women of your country are so pretty" Yoongi commented, and you felt proud.
You noticed Hoseok cry as the female protagonist got her heart broken and cried. Almost at the middle of the movie, you noticed Jimin enter with bags of snacks you were about to whine as to you couldn't restart the movie but he shocked you as he ran to take a seat and said "DamnI love this movie*
You literally paused the movie and looked at him in utter surprise. "What? (Your country) movies are really enjoyable" he said.
Later that night
"I heard you explained a full movie to the boys" Namjoon said shifting into the bed beside you.
"Yeah. All I wanted was to watch a movie" you said "But it was enjoyable to watch them get so intreagued" you said.
"Thats my (Your country) girl. I bet me and Hobi have the real catches" he said
"You bet. And that is what makes a lot of K-Armys hate me more" you said pouting.
"Aww babe, I told you not to read those" he said.
"I know, sorry" you said hugging is physically large form.
"Its okay babe, things are already gurning better, they're close to tracing the person who did it and in no times things will get better" he said kissing your forehead.
You noded and sighed "lets just enjoy our time together untill then" you said.
"That's more like it" He said and the two of you lulled to sleep in each other's arms.

Synopsis: You admire your captain, your beloved Capt. Kim Namjoon. You admire him so much that you wanted to be by his side always, well, quite literally. Under his office desk, inside his apartment, on his bed and even on his dangerous mission against a vicious Mafia leader named Jeon Jungkook.
He’s been so obsessed in Jungkook, his formidable enemy on his entire career, that he’s been trying to apprehend him for years. Until both of you uncovered an unsettling truth as to why he always slithers: there’s a mole within your department.
Namjoon kicked the door hard with his combat boots, took cover immediately from the wall behind him, before aiming his gun to the direction of the open entryway.
“Freeze!” he shouted.
Yet he was the one that was left frozen at the scene. Two men, thin as a stick, were staring blankly at the ceiling. Clearly passed out with rubbers wrapped around their arms, old scabs and fresh jabs on their skin. Several discarded needles were left lying on the floor.
They look so oblivious from the presence of Namjoon and his team that you can’t help but call him out “Namjoon, I think we’re late” you shook your head, as you watched their cold and drugged out bodies sitting on a plastic chair, heads resting on the air.
“We are, they’re both dead” Hoseok said after checking their pulse. He stared at them for a moment, as if saying a prayer as he shuts their eyes gently with his finger.
Namjoon walked around the room and picked a used foil and a paper with logo of a lotus flower “Jungkook…” he mumbled to himself as he crumpled the paper and threw it on the floor in fury.
“Are you sure it’s him?” you went to pick it up and checked. It was definitely the symbol of his organized syndicate.
“Positive” Namjoon’s blood suddenly rushed in and felt nauseous at the thought, as he shut his eyes, hoping that he was wrong about it.
“It was a close one...” Hoseok rummaged through the pockets of the two men, but he found none.
“I was so sure, they’ll be here. Him and his men. But why does it look like they knew... You think” you shut your eyes and gasped, realizing what Namjoon might have just thought of earlier. “there’s a mole within the Department?” you continued, slowly turning around to see Namjoon’s reaction. His face turned grim and just weakly nodded.
“I trust that you two would keep this a secret, until we find who it is…” Namjoon swore. It wasn’t about money or his ego any longer, he wanted to end this. For years. Whatever this was, he wanted to stop people from dying, stop wasting innocent lives, end the fear of women and children always being on the brink of death.
“Roger” Hoseok nodded.
“Roger, Captain!” you blinked and stood up. You and Hoseok tapped Namjoon’s shoulder, assuring him that you two were on his side. Always on his side.

You and Hoseok stood behind closed doors, but it was very apparent that the chiefs and the Department heads were clearly upset at the result of your team’s recent mission.
“Goddamit! We told you to think things through Kim and you blew it! You got one shot! One fucking shot, and you didn’t even get to meet a single strand of his hair!” the deputy chief exclaimed.
“What a waste of the city tax, really, you haven’t given us any valuable result” the Department head, fixed his paper and put everything inside his briefcase.
Namjoon just stood there, taking every thing silently. He was called names before, been spatted, got hit, everything. He’s the man who’s been through all horrible things and yet he still took it in. No wonder why you’ve like this guy, there’s something incredibly attractive about an underdog filled with potentials. It’s as if you’re hearing a club of hyenas around a lion, waiting for it to roar. He was the kind of leader you want to solemnly swear your loyalty, and that was the reason why you were there.
After the sham meeting, you and Hoseok just followed Namjoon towards your office room. He was clearly angry and frustrated, as well. But more than that he was determined to find another chance to get close to Jungkook . Namjoon went to his desk silently, and studied recent reports and profiles of people on his desk, piled and unkept.
Hoseok, feeling unnecessarily guilty, excused himself to get the team sandwiches from a nearby store.
You on the other hand, had something in mind to ease Namjoon’s frustration. “Hey there” you whispered on his ear. “Not here, Y/N. Not today” his eyes still concentrated on the screen. You gently pressed his shoulders, unbothered at his plea and made gentle circular motion, caressing his stiff shoulder blades. You slowly crouched down to kiss his ears and traced it down his neck. “You know what reminds me of your stiffness?” you chuckled.
“I said stop!” his quick reflex surprised you, as he held on to your wrist. His eyes stern, full of resolved. You stood up, and knew that he wasn’t up for any games.
“I just heard everything from the meeting. It’s hard to miss.” You folded your arms, as you watched him turn his back on you again and type disordered words on his screen. “Try, typing Gwangjin-gu, April 16…” you reached out for his hands to guide his finger from each letter on the keyboard, as he suddenly groaned softly to the sensation of your warm hands.
You smirked, seeing him freeze for a second. You crouched back down again and slowly reached for his legs hiding underneath his desk. “You know, it takes Hoseok about half an hour to get back? No one’s around. I’m sure you needed to let loose of that tension” you spoke softly, while caressing his legs. He slowly turned around from his seat and opened his legs.
“Give me 10 minutes tops, Captain” you smirked as you knelt down, and unclasped his belt.
Namjoon just stared at you blankly for a second, thoughtless and unsure. But as soon as he felt the warmth that you give right in the middle of his legs, he cursed and responded in pure ecstasy. You watched him toss his head and covered his mouth, trying not to cry out your name, but you love it. You love seeing your beloved Captain, the one people look up with so much pride and respect, becomes susceptible to your touch.

You were lounging in the smoking area during your break time, even though you aren’t smoker. You just like being outside, on a bench, and beside a vending coffee machine where you could refill your own cup.
“Hm, Sun Tzu’s Art of War” you heard Namjoon’s voice from behind. You nodded in agreement, as you finished the last line of the page and flipped it to the next.
“Read this about 9 times, still holds true” you replied, not leaving your gaze towards the book.
“I got a lead” he pulled out his cup from the vending machine and scoot beside you on the bench. You closed your book and turned to face him. Namjoon peered behind you, and looked around before he dropped the name “Seokjin”. You squint your eyes, trying to figure out how Namjoon arrived at his conclusion.
“You mean Kim Seokjin from the Hi-tech Crime Unit?” you spoke softly towards him, making sure no one hears even when it was only the two of you in the area.
He nodded, grinning. “I always wonder how he received information about them, everyone in his unit is as competent as he is but he would always get the best lead”
You smiled, finally beginning to piece things together. “It does seem odd Namjoon. It doesn’t make sense, but it does seem bizarre? How does he get those information?” you stared at Namjoon and smirked “I never thought of that, Captain. As always, that’s pretty smart of you to---”
“Y/N!” you heard someone call.
“Speak of the devil” you smiled at Namjoon then at Seokjin.
“Meet you after office hours?” Seokjin ran up to you, handing you a bag of sandwich. Namjoon tilt his head in confusion.
“Yeah sure” you blushed, turning your head to the floor at Seokjin’s sweet gesture.
“Y/N, are you…. Are you two going out? Since when?” Namjoon stood up, puzzled at the scenario. Clearly, you have left him out of the picture, but it’s not like you owe him anything. Besides weren’t you two clear about the position you two are in? Just colleagues trying to help each other out? Out of convenience?
“Kind of like that. Well, you never asked about our private lives, Cap” you chuckled. Not that he doesn’t care, but you know how much he respects his colleague’s personal space. Well, except on some occasion when you two needed to satisfy each other’s need. “Give me a minute, I just need to talk to my superior” you faced Seokjin for a moment and watched him wait for you at a distance.
“Cap, I’m sorry.” You cleared your throat and continued “The news surprised me too, and I didn’t know how to tell you. Can you trust me? I’ll try to look on to this. I swear, feelings won’t get involved. If I happen to find anything that might point a connection against Seokjin and Jungkook, I’ll let you know immediately”
“And what if he is? Are you okay with it? You know what will happen if he becomes part of our custody” he asked, worriedly.
You shut your eyes and nodded “I’m aware. I’ve been seeing him Jin for half a month now. It’s nothing compared to you, Cap” you looked down, refusing to look back at him, not when you just confessed your feelings for him albeit indirectly.
“Y/N…” he spoke softly.
“You don’t have to say anything.” You shook your head “I know this is purely work, lives are on the line…” You begrudgingly replied, then you paused. “That’s why I’ll make sure I’ll get compensated well on this” you slowly turned your gazed at him, now smirking.
“I can only pay what the government give--- ” you stopped him mid-sentence by pointing a finger on his lip, raising yourself up, tip-toed.
“Not that silly” He tilt his head again in confusion. “You, wrapped around my fingers. Go figure.” You whispered on his ear and chuckled. You turned around, and left him wondering on his own. It took him a moment before he realized what you meant. He bashfully chuckled at the thought.

After spending more time with Seokjin for months, you’ve finally gathered valuable information to report directly to Namjoon, which entails you in meeting him straight to his own apartment each night.
“Are you ready for tomorrow?” he asked, as he gathered his boxer he left from the floor. You remained still in bed, panting after doing a marathon with Namjoon. Namjoon opened his window to let the cold breeze enter his dull room.
You turned sideways and watched him moved out from the bed, savoring his bareness. “Nearly, ready”
He tied his discarded condom and threw it on the trash bin “Y/N, whatever happens tomorrow. I just want to let you know that I---” he paused, trying to construct what he was about to say.
You sat up, despite remaining bare “Shh” You reached him out for a kiss.
“If things goes bad tomorrow, I want you to know that you mean so much to me” he took your wrist and kissed the back of your hand, his lips pressed hard as if hoping that his pure intentions will get through your skin.
You shook you head. “Aren’t I just a colleague, Namjoon?” you smiled weakly, reminding him of the reality that you are just there for him… for his own convenience.
He cupped your cheek and kissed you again. “You’re my partner, in everything Y/N”
You parted and smile. “I’m glad you feel that way” you pushed him back to bed, and pulled his boxers off again, almost ripping it to two. You wanted to let him know he wasn’t wrong, about feeling that you are his.
He was clearly surprised at your reaction, and flustered upon seeing you right above him. You smiled, amused at the view. To see your beloved Captain in such a vulnerable position. And like a clockwork, you sat comfortably on his waist as you pulled his wrists towards you. You forced his palms open with yours and directed it to your chest, letting him feel you again.
You closed your eyes, as you let him cup you gently “Captain..” you breathed his name while you shut your eyes, and began moving your hips slowly.
“Shit” he quickly got hard again, and you felt that. You felt his excitement again after you shamelessly teased your beloved Captain. You took a sealed condom from the bed side table and placed it on his harden length. He pulled one of his hand away and held on to it, then guided his length towards your entrance. You opened your eyes and smile.
“Ready for a second?” you asked. You watched him nod, as he began to push it in within you, both of you cursed almost synchronously at the ecstatic sensation. You tossed your head, and began moving your hips.
He held on to your waist, and you relished on it. You relished the way your Captain held on to you, you relished at the sight of seeing someone strong like him depended on you for comfort and affirmation. Exhilarated at the view of him below you, exhilarated at the thought of your own superior, down at your mercy.

Seokjin informed the Investigation Department again, which the assignment was promptly relayed again to your team: “Apprehend Jungkook and his men in #32 Namdo Building Gangseo-gu District”
At the same time, Namjoon informed the Investigation Department of his suspicion against Seokjin.
“You sure, Kim? If you’re wrong about this, not only will you lose Seokjin’s trust but your whole credibility as a Captain…” Mr. Song, one of the Investigation head, reminded Namjoon.
“I am certain sir. One of my partner, Y/N, was able to gather pieces of evidence that may point out his guilt in conniving with Jeon Jungkook” he bowed and handed him a manilla envelope containing the things you took from Seokjin, secretly.
“Very well, we will take Seokjin in to custody after I examine these things. Good luck on your mission” he bid Namjoon good luck as he watched Namjoon ran towards his car while it rained.

“Point A to D clear” you heard Hoseok speak from you and Namjoon’s ear piece.
“Copy” you subtly replied from your microphone hidden inside your shirt. “Ready, Mr. Kim?” you fixed his necktie inside the car. He didn’t reply, his eyes were burning with hatred. You’ve never seen him this determined to be able to see Jungkook, his formidable enemy, finally in the flesh.
You and Namjoon, took great lengths over these past few weeks to be able to secure a seat on this secret meeting with the boss himself, Jeon Jungkook. Despite at his tender age of 22, he was able to amass a fortune more than his father and his forefathers could ever gain. And now at the age of 24, he was able to bring down all his enemies. Rumor has it, he would clear out his enemy’s entire family line so that no one could ever attempt to take revenge against the whole Jeon family.
But Namjoon was ready to risk it all, even if his own family was on the line. He was willing to wager everything he has, just to end his lunacy. Yet he still couldn’t bring to himself the idea of risking and losing you against Jeon.
“Y/N, if anything goes bad, I want you to run as far as you could. Away from this, okay? You know how vindictive Jungkook can be” he stared at you, longingly.
“Joon” you shook your head and corrected yourself “I mean Captain, I’m trained to face whatever remember? Whatever happens, I’ll show up. It’s part of my job---”
“Okay, lovebirds, enough chit-chat. You know this is recorded right? We’ll be handling our conversation to the heads, unless you wanted to let them know about your secret affair or whatever this is… God, it’s awkward listening to you two!” Hoseok said on the other line.
You chuckled. “Can we have this off-record? Anyway, he’s right Captain. Time’s running. You need to get to your sit there now, as Mr. Kim the representative of Fiery Brothel of Songpa-gu District. I’ll stay here, make sure everything is working according to plan, alright?” you pat his collar and checked his ear piece if it was greatly secured. “All dashing and ready!” you smiled at him.

Namjoon introduced himself as Mr. Kim to a man in red suit “I speak on behalf of my superior Mr. Co, who manages Fiery Brothel in Songpa-gu owned by the Jeon” The man in red suit just nod and led you inside the building.
At first, Namjoon was confused as to why he was led inside a burger chain. Then he turned to the left hallway and entered inside the “authorized personnel staff room”, Namjoon followed. The room was cramped and filled with cleaning tools, food and personal hygiene products and other things.
The man pulled out the fire extinguisher from the glass box, where he found a button hidden behind it. He suddenly pressed it twice, paused then thrice, paused then once. It was a secret code. The wall started to separate from top to bottom, unfurling another secret entryway that leads to a speakeasy bar-cum-opium den.
Namjoon quickly recognized few faces around, from the head of the other government department, to local celebrities, even the sons and daughter of influential businessmen were there. Gambling, out of wits, high from the aroma of opium mixed with other things.
They continued to walk, the man in red suit clearly unbothered, as if it was regular business. Namjoon gulped and tried to calm himself, putting a mental note on everything he saw and commit it to his memory. He’ll be needing it once he get his hands on Jungkook. Everything he sees right now, everything he owns, he wanted to see him lose it. He wanted his downfall. he was confident that after that night he’ll finally put everything to its end.
“This is as far as I can lead you sir” the man stopped in front of the door, bowed and opened it for Namjoon.
There it was the high table. Only 6 men, sitting on each side of the table, making him the last and the seventh member to the meeting. His heart was pounding fast, hands starting to grow cold, shaking uncontrollably. Little sweat beads were forming behind his neck, it’s as if he was drugged and out of wits as well, except his feeling was driven by his own fear.
Just a few second upon entering, he saw Taehyung and Jimin enter first from the front door of the room. He presumed it was an exclusive entryway for Jungkook and his trusted men, in case something bad happens, but nothing bad ever happened when they’re there. Taehyung and Jimin were his only trusted men. They were skilled, precise, ruthless and cold to the core. They would blindly kill anyone and even everyone for Jungkook, even if it cost their lives.
Jimin, narrowed his eyes towards Namjoon while he chew on his bubblegum. Taehyung, on the other hand, watched the other men shake in fear too. All were waiting for the boss himself to enter the room.
The room was white and bare, almost blinding to the eyes. The only color that was present are their ashen faces (except Taehyung and Jimin), their black clothes and the long dark-red oaken wood table and its matching chair. And finally, he was there, all in flesh.
No longer a picture posted on his office walls. No longer a dream, that woke up him up each night in fright. This was Jeon Jungkook. Young, tall, handsome, almost perfect that he can pass up as a god. Well, technically, he is, because he is the kind who plays like one. Because any mistake they omit in his presence can swiftly translate to a painful death.
Everyone rose from their seat to show their respect and fear towards him. Jungkook smiled. Too kind and too sweet, as if he looked innocent. But everyone knew better, he wasn’t the slightest bit of it. When he sat from his chair on the front, everyone followed, except Jimin and Taehyung who stood there to watch over.
Jungkook listened to each person during the meeting, he was attentive, alert and smart. He was the kind of leader that would bring shame to the whole police department, perhaps the whole country. Everything that runs out of his mouth were well-thought, intelligible and thorough. He didn’t leave a single issue unresolved, and the men quickly took note of it. The men were so scared that they just nodded without any further question. Jungkook like things brief, and hated being interrupted. The moment he finds someone that annoys him, Taehyung, a sharp shooter, will place a single bullet straight through their head. Not even letting them finish their first word.
“Actually, I’m sure you are all aware of the situation you are in right now, don’t you? I called everyone for a meeting because some of you are doing a very, very poor job” he grinned at everybody, nose a bit scrunched, like a harmlessly little bunny pouncing sunshine on each person on the table. Yet everyone looked down, nervous and grim. So did Namjoon.
Namjoon wasn’t aware of it. Neither anyone on the team. What was Jungkook thinking? Did he knew? Did Seokjin informed him that they’ll be attempting to take him in? Sh--
“Shit!” one of them men screamed in fear as he tried to ran towards the door, but before he could take another step from his sit, Jimin managed to throw his dagger in his head which passed through his eye and pinned his body down the floor.
“Tsk” Jungkook shook his head in disappointment. “Atleast, we were able to eliminate a coward in this group. Anyone wants to follow?” he raised his eyebrow as he chuckled again. Clearly entertained at the sight of blood.
No one dared to speak, not even a sound of whimper. “Very well, now that no one wants to speak for themselves, I would, for everyone’s behalf. I need to keep my business flowing, and you all are doing a terrible job. Thus, it’s unfortunate to inform everyone in this room that no one will survive today…” Right upon hearing it, Taehyung fired his gun towards 3 other men on his side and Jimin with his daggers flying and pinning the remaining 2 heads to the wall on his side, simultaneously and precise. “Except you, Kim Namjoon.” He blinks slowly and smiled at his direction.
“How does it feel to finally meet your nightmare?” he stood up and went to his direction.
Suddenly, Namjoon heard Hoseok cursing on the other end “Namjoon, it’s a trap! They knew! If you’re still there, run! Quickly! The mole told everything about us!”
“Where’s Y/N?” Namjoon asked Hoseok, but you only heard noises from his end.
“Y/N?” Jungkook asked. “You know I don’t like it when I don’t have someone’s full attention”
“Where is she? My partner! Did you take her? Did you kill her?” Namjoon immediately stood up from his seat, demanding Jungkook for an answer. Jimin swiftly threw his dagger to pin Namjoon’s legs back to his seat while Namjoon cried in shock and pain .
“You know I wouldn’t dare you pissing Jimin any longer Namjoon, unlike Taehyung he doesn’t have much patience. If you try to move again, I swear the next time will be a bullet from Taehyung’s gun and it’s far more painful than Jimin’s knife… and I can’t assure you where he wants to aim it. Sit” he spoke calmly, and strangely alluring yet intimidating.
Hoseok spoke again “The mole is here! Seokji----- scchhhht” Taehyung went to Namjoon side and pulled the ear piece away from him, threw it on the floor and stepped on it.
“Where is she?!” Namjoon demanded, eyes intensely fixated on Jungkook.
Taehyung crouched down and slapped his mouth. “You’re not asked to speak” he took the broken ear piece from the floor and pushed it inside Namjoon’s mouth “You better listen!”
Namjoon gagged a bit and spit the shattered pieces “Enough Taehyung, I bet he’s got it” Jungkook commanded.
“You and Seokjin will pay for what you did to Y/N!” he screamed, his fear already absent upon realizing the possibility of losing you for good.
“Seokjin? Who is he?” Jungkook chuckled. “While, it’s true there’s a mole within you” he sat on the table, just inches away Namjoon. “It’s not Seokjin, whoever he may be, I never met the guy. He sounded like a nice guy” he shrugs, still smiling. “Give you a clue, try to think who is out of reach right now?” he taps his temple.
Namjoon paused. When he realized who it was, his blood rushed up to his head, leaving him cold, nauseated and in pain. “No, it can’t be”
There you were, entering the room from the door in front of everyone inside. Safe and unharmed “Hey love, I miss you so much!” you quickly ran towards Jungkook and jumped to give him a long pressing kiss.
“No… but why?” Namjoon’s eyes started to cloud with his own tears.
“Love, why don’t you tell him?” Jungkook pouted as he turned to face you, and pulled you in closer, letting you sit on his lap.
“Well, I got bored here. I decided I want to play police. That’s why I’m here, but I got bored too, so I decided to come back” you smiled at Namjoon then at Jungkook “to you, love”
Jungkook chuckled, his nose scrunched again in a bunny like manner, as he point his finger against your nose and tapped it “That’s my girl, isn’t she cute when she gets bored?” he asked Namjoon.
“But everything, what we’ve been through, were they all lies?”
You shook your head still smiling “Not everything, no. Well, except everything about Seokjin, and the brothel and Mr.Co…” you rolled your eyes, sluggishly “Didn’t I tell you I’ll make sure everything goes according to plan? I mean, my plan that is…” you shrugged.
“How?” Namjoon’s head fell to his chest, clearly desperate, praying that everything he was hearing from you weren’t true.
“Well for starters, it’s really not hard to fake documents, my background then my history… You’ve seen the opium den earlier didn’t you? The head of National Office Record is pretty much a regular these days, we just gave him a little freebies and then we’re good. But you sir, you were pretty interesting, I really had a great time!” you nodded.
“It was actually me who subtly planted the idea that it was Seokjin, it was me who gave Seokjin information, the exact location and a glimpse of our plan, well without telling him I am part of the group that is” you playfully traced your finger on Jungkook’s neck, letting Namjoon watch while he aches at everything. The reality that was unfolding before him.
“I was the one who curated random stuff as your evidence, made up stories about a non-existent Mr. Co and the Fiery Brothel in Songpa-gu, reserved a seat for you in the meeting and voila! You’re here! Isn’t great, love?” you gave Jungkook a peck on his lips and he nodded.
“Y/N” Namjoon cried
“You know Namjoon? I really like you, that’s pretty much true. But this man right here” you turn to Jungkook and playfully squeezed his cheek “I love him so much, I’m willing to give my life for him. That’s the difference. To be by your side, quite literally and to be by his side, forever, wherever I may be” Jungkook giggled at your declaration for his love.
“Please say it’s a lie! Tell me, you’re being forced by him, just say it. Please, I love you!” Namjoon screamed
“Stop, Namjoon” you watched him in pity. “Didn’t I tell you? We’re just bunch of colleagues…”
“Boss, what are you going to do with him?” Jimin’s eyes remained focused against Namjoon while he pops his gum.
“Love, what do you plan?” Jungkook gazed at you lovingly, while he was fixing your hair.
“He’s where he is supposed to be. A captain who just lost the trust of his superior and his men, just because of a woman. Isn’t it a tragic story, the story of a naïve pawn? This way love, you’ll be able to move freely with your business.” You stared at Jungkook’s lips, resisting to kiss him while he revel at your impregnable intellect.
“As usual, impressive as always” Jungkook nods as he kissed you again. “Let him live, so he’ll be able to tell our tale, a precautionary one to not screw with us”
“Y/N” Namjoon pleaded.
“Namjoon, you were the best Captain really. Thank you for the memories” you smiled.
Then Taehyung swiftly hit Namjoon in the face, leaving him unconscious, but only for a while.

Namjoon blinked at the sensation of rain drop falling over his face. Next thing he knew, people in scrubs were rushing towards him, raised him up from the pavement outside the hospital and secured his tired body on a stretcher.
“Sir, are you okay? Do you know where you are? Do you remember who left you here?” Namjoon was so oblivious at the moment, that he just tried to pull himself up to see if everything that happened earlier was a dream.
Until something fell from the inside of his coat. He picked it up “The Art of War by Sun Tzu?” he opened a page and saw a little note from you that says
“An enemy of my enemy is my FRIEND :) - Y/N”

Even when this rain stops, when the clouds go away I stand here, just the same Without saying anything, looking at the world There, a not so beautiful me is looking at myself In this rain In this rain
Rain by BTS
A/N: Thank you for giving time and reaching this far. This is my first attempt in making a smut fic so please be kind >.< This fic is actually my birthday gift for Slyn (SLL-AW Fictions) she’s a writer from YT who pushed me to try doing one too. Her bias is Jungkook so, naturally, the story ended with Y/N falling in the arms of Jungkook.
This is also nod and an attempt to honor one of my all time favorite fanfic, the BEST EVER CREATED on the internet about BTS: “House of Card by Sugamins” (if you know, you know 😉 )
I am so whipped for Master Jeon Jungkook that I just 👁️👄👁️. I didn’t want to recreate the verse, because I just can’t... I could never. House of Card is like a whole level of superiority and I’m just...a nursery...
Although, I borrowed the dark environment and the emotions involved in the characters... but I am totally disclaiming it to be a part of the verse. I’m a huge fan, I’m sorry I’m geeking out 😭 (Sugamins if you ever see this, I love you and thank you!! 😭 huge fan!!)
Slyn’s favorite genre are mafia, action, and romance (specifically with Jungkook). She’s aware of House of Cards too so yeah..
Anyway, I hope you guys enjoyed “In The Rain” :).
PS. If you haven’t read “House of Card” please do! It’s on a03! Google it! BUT YOU HAVE TO BE 18 and above... and open to like practically everything! Read the warning signs first before you proceed. But I swear, it’s the best out there!!! (you’ll know why it hit a million views once you finished. That fic should be in a book, and I’ll gladly buy several copies!
ALSO, I’m so sorry for making Y/N a villain/psychopath. As well as Jungkook, Jimin and Taehyung. Forgive me. It was raining hard one day while listening to Rain on by BTS and the ending scene just came up to my mind and I happen to work on it since... :<
