lwj literally wrote a song about the hot dude in the class, named it after their ship name and got to marry the said hot dude from the class.
hua cheng created multiple fan art of his idol, sent him thousands of fan mails (lanterns), fought xie lian antis, and married his idol who was also an emperor by the end of the story.
and in scum villian i can't even decide who was the wattpad girlie in the story. shen yuan who married the supposed player, bingbing who banged his milf teacher or shang qinghua who married the rich sugar daddy who was also his literal dream guy?
XL really was just an exhausted babysitter/daycare worker in the brocade immortal arc.

listening in on the prince's private communication affair must have become exhausting
Tbh, I think if you read an mxtx novel with the expectation that the story’s hero is meant to learn some valuable lesson that fundamentally changes their character and views on life, then you are reading her books wrong. There’s not a single mxtx protag (currently) in existence who changes by the end of the story. It’s the world they live in that is changed because of their actions:
—Shen Yuan’s Shen Qingqiu transforms a toxic masculinity fantasy into a queer romance in which the unhappy stallion protagonist with a harem in the 100s is given his monogamous happy ending with a husband he actually loves and values with reciprocity. They fuck off to their forever honeymoon after exposing the corruptness of the cultivation world that ruined Luo Binghe’s life to begin with, and all of this was only possibly because Shen Yuan was just a genuinely nice fucking person. The world lives to see another day and a fuckton of people who died (or didn’t even get to exist) in the original stallion novel get to live long, more fulfilled lives in Shen Yuan’s revision.
—Wei Wuxian is killed for sticking up for a condemned clan, is resurrected against his will, and still stands by his actions in his first life while protecting those that continued to wrongfully condemn him. As a reward, the corpses of the people he died protecting save him and his loved ones (and the rest of the bystanders who killed them), he bags himself the most perfect and perfectly matched man in the cultivation world, and he continues to help others and do what he wants to the ire of the cultivation world who are now too embarrassed to fight him. The younger generation look to him as a beloved teacher, protector, and role model to aspire towards.
—Xie Lian rebelled against hierarchy as a beloved prince of a prospering kingdom, then as a beloved god against the older gods, then as a reviled scrap gods against the then most popular gods of the present day. He was always willing to lend a hand to anyone who needed it and to never hold resentment even if that kindness blew up in his face (and it often did). He gets to marry the man (ghost) who has seen him at his best and absolute worst and chooses him unconditionally, something no one else has ever done before. At the end of the novel, he is the god that all the other gods look to for guidance and strength.
None of these stories humble these characters for being good people. Even when their morally righteous actions net them unimaginably terrible results, even when they falter in the face of their failures, they ultimately remain true to their goodness. And none of the books humble them for that, because being good is not a character flaw. So in short: please stop talking about how mxtx protags “needed” to learn valuable lessons to “be good people” when they were already good people from the very beginning. These stories are not about how the world changes people but how genuinely good people can change the world just by actively being kind even with no benefit to themselves and especially if that kindness leads to detriment.

The room is silent. San Lang freezes. Xie Lian pales. Mu Qing and Feng Xin look to him.
"What?"
Xie Lian forces a smile. "Don't worry about it." Stupid, stupid, stupid!
San Lang nods, nothing in his eyes. Mu Qing and Feng Xin know something is off, because there's always hate in his eyes for themselves, but now there is nothing.
They look to each other. At the expense of probably their lives (Thanks to San Lang), if they push further, they agree that they've got to know.
"Did something happen while-" While they were ignoring him, trying their best to forget Xianle ever happened. Of course things had happened. It had been eight hundred years, after all.
"It's nothing, don't worry." Just an offhand comment that he hadn't thought through.
Mu Qing shakes his head, "Seriously, what happened?"
San Lang doesn't move. He's too busy remembering his powerlessness, the helplessness, the uselessness. He could do nothing but watch. He had promised himself that the kind crown prince would never suffer again under his watch.
Feng Xin pushes further. "Who stabbed you a hundred times?"
San Lang moves closer to Xie Lian, taking his hand. San Lang would always support his gege in any choice he might make, whether he wants to tell the story or incinerate them for asking. Of course, he knows gege would never, but he can dream.
Xie Lian contemplates. Did they really need to find out now? There are things to do. But there will be things to do tomorrow, and every day after that.
San Lang is right beside him. It will be easy. So Xie Lian speaks.
"They had Human Face Disease. They needed a cure." He fiddles with his robes, his hat, a small bun in his pocket. Feng Xin and Mu Qing wait for more. There is no more.
"Then what?" They prompt him. San Lang looks to them disdainfully, which they figure is a step up from murderously.
"The cure for Human Face Disease is murder," Xie Lian continues. It takes a second, Feng Xin realizes it before Mu Qing, paling significantly. Mu Qing understands shortly after, and takes a step back. However, the two don't fully understand.
"But- but you can't be killed."
Xie Lian doesn't answer for what feels like a long time. When he does, it is sadly.
"Not one of them survived."
A hundred stabs. It hurt. It hurt. It hurts. It still hurts.
For nothing.
San Lang embraces him, Feng Xin and Mu Qing stare at each other, and then at them.
Feng Xin wants to apologize, but what could he say?
Mu Qing wants to say sorry, but the word is meaningless now. It's far too late.
So xie lian, feng xin, mu qing and san lang (he and xl are a package deal ok) go on some big important mission together assigned by ling wen, right?
It's all vibes and snark and funny haha until Xie Lian somehow gets hurt protecting someone and these three fret over him (some more aggresively than others) because holy shit you got stabbed??? Are you ok???
And xie lian, trying to calm them down, goes "come on, this is just one sword, nothing compared to 100!"
The room gets really, really cold and really quiet all of a sudden and xie lian's features twist in horror as he realizes that he said that out loud and 1) made san lang flashback to probably the worst day of his life as a ghost and 2) now mu qing and feng xin have questions
And xie lian knows he cant get out of this one without answering them
who would read a fluffy xianle quartet fic with added fluff and maybe a lil more fluff
includes: shi qingxuan convincing mu qing to crossdress with him, a very awkward sleepover where everyone in the xianle quartet invites their best friends and he xuan and shi qingxuan see each other and start making reparations, feng xin and mu qing teaming up to try and win the heart of the crown prince only to also fall for the ghost king, homophobia in the heavenly capital, and much more! (if it gets written idk if i will)
i might just start planning out the sleepover at paradise manor below the cut...
ok so mu qing, after crossdressing with shi qingxuan, invites him
xie lian's like "ok i guess i cant invite sqx who do i invite?" he ends up inviting ling wen, who is relieved for a break, and yushi huang, bc she did help them overthrow the government last time i guess
feng xin has no friends. he invites pei ming in the end because why not
hua cheng invites he xuan because yin yu said no, and hua cheng has no other besties
so the party is xianle quartet, the remaining Cancers, shi qingxuan, and yushi huang
pei ming has the wonderful idea to play spin the bottle, shi qingxuan agrees bc at this point he knows mu qing has a crush on xie lian and hua cheng
xie lian has no idea what spin the bottle is, but shi qingxuan goes first bc hes kinda besties with everyone here (except the ghost king), lands on yushi huang, gives her a lil peck on the cheek. pei ming goes "hey! thats not how you play! you have to kiss them on the lips actually!"
he is ignored.
next is hua cheng, who spins, and thanks to his incredible luck, lands on gege! kisses him on the lips and hands it to he xuan.
he xuan does not spin the bottle.
next is pei ming, who spins it and lands on ling wen. the immovable glare she affixes him with is enough to make him back off. she leaves the circle and goes to sleep on one of the couches at like 11 (there are many couches in paradise manor bc hua cheng needs something to kiss xie lian on)
pei ming complains that he gets to spin again because he didnt kiss anyone, but no one listens bc no one wants to kiss him lol
next up is yushi huang, who lands on pei ming. she starts by wiping off his cheek with a wet towel, her lips barely making contact with his cheek, then wiping off her lips with a different towel. pei ming is very embarassed and red.
then we got feng xin, who is very scared. he lands on he xuan. uh oh. he walks a lil closer. then a lil closer. he kisses his own hand and pats he xuan on the shoulder. the glare that he xuan is wearing is very very very scary. he is very scared. like hes about to pee himself. but at least. he managed it. pei ming doesnt comment surprisingly.
mu qing is next (of course they sat next to each other guys), who lands on xie lian. oh no oh no oh no. he leans over. kisses xie lian very very quickly on the cheek. he is very very very very red and blushing.
yeah mu qing will get murdered if he falls asleep at the sleepover.
now it's xie lian's turn. everyone wants to kiss him for different reasons except he xuan, so of course that's who he lands on.
xie lian knows this is platonic except hes not really friends with he xuan??? and also the tension between he xuan and shi qingxuan has been physically (whats the touch version of audible?), so hes very nervous.
"you dont have to do it if you dont wanna gege"
"yes he does!" shouts pei ming
xie lian kisses his finger and taps the Supreme on the cheek.
yeah, he xuan's debt is getting increased for that.

Well, it's time to say good night to the Sun and greet the Moon with wishes for a good sleep and a fresh start in the morning. I am sorry I didn't post much today, as I was Xmas shopping a little. So, I decided to leave you with a fantastic video from the wonderful Kictor on YouTube! This is one of my favorite videos of theirs! Loved every minute of it!
