This is wonderful??? Like it’s great but also poor Logan-

Small Misconceptions (Part 1)

Warnings: Cages, Remus mention (really slight)

Notes: I’ve had this idea floating around in my brain for a while. Not sure how long it will be, but we are going to hurt Logan before it’s all over. I know where I want it to go, now let’s hope I can write it all. Also, let me know if you would like to be tagged in future updates.

Days as a borrower easily became monotonous. Every day was nearly identical, change was often uncommon. Change was dangerous. Change meant the risk of being caught was higher. And that goes for change in the humans’ schedules and the changes in a borrower’s schedule.

Logan couldn’t ask for a better life as a borrower though. He liked the order, he liked the unspoken schedule. It made it easy to figure out when he had time to retrieve specific items for himself. He knows that every other day he can head to the kitchen to retrieve leftover snacks, chips and popcorn are the most common, after the movies turn off in the living room. He knows he can sneak into one of the human’s rooms for basic supplies about five days of the week when the house has been empty for an hour. It was easy.

Today was one of those five days, and he needed to make use of it. A new thumbtack was highly needed as his old one had gotten bent and rendered nearly unusable after his latest tussle with a small mouse. Paperclips might also be useful, he could create a backup hook, something he has been debating on doing for some time now. He used the last of his current paperclips for steadying his current sleeping setup.

Logan pat his side and was satisfied to find his hook resting there securely. He made sure his small bag was strapped safely on his back before heading out of his small hole. Navigating the walls was easy, especially after having been in this house for nearly his whole life. He reached the loose framing by the floor and pushed it out. He slipped out through the small space.

As soon as he was out of the walls he beelined straight for the desk. Everything he needed from this run was all up there. That was why he always borrowed from this human. He was just a little messy, but it was easy to locate the items with enough time. And he had plenty of time since the human doesn’t come back for a couple hours still.

He could borrow from the other human in the small house, but he knew he would truly be putting himself in more danger than necessary. The other human was loud, overly dirty, and just plain chaotic. Logan would rather be caught by the human he was currently borrowing from than his chaotic brother. Not that he was going to be caught any time soon though.

He reached the bottom of the first desk leg and paused to grab the hook from his hip. He reeled his arm back and tossed the hook with practiced aim. Logan tugged the string and a feeling of pride welled up within himself. It stuck on the first throw. As expected. But Logan still felt some pride every time he did it.

With a practiced ease, he scaled up the string. Hoisting himself up onto the desk, he began instantly scanning the desk for the thumbtacks and any other useful items. The human was working on some sort of craft project this time, if the colorful feathers and rubberbands had any say on that. Logan shook his head in disinterest as he continued his scan, he didn’t want to know what the human was making, he didn’t care either.

Though a rubberband or two may be helpful later on. He kneeled down and picked two of them up, only slightly question the fact that they were green and red. At least they weren’t the neon pink or orange ones, those would stand out. Red and green offered some camouflage at least.

As he packed them in his bag, he noticed a small assortment of thumbtacks out the corner of eye. He adjusted his small wire glasses with a small smile. At least he found what he was looking for. He stood up to approach the thumbtacks but froze halfway there.

Did something just move? Logan whipped around. He thought he heard something and saw something out of the corner of his eye. His breathing quickened but Logan was quick to reassure himself that he was just hearing things and there was no human in the house. It must’ve just been the wind blowing a feather off the desk. In the back of his mind, a small voice screamed at him telling him the window was still closed, but lying to himself seemed to help him feel more calm about the situation.

He turned back to the thumbtacks and stilled once more. They were gone. But that didn’t make sense unless…

He gasped as fingers suddenly wrapped around his form, quickly lifting him off of the safety of solid ground. The grip knocked the breath out of him and he struggled to free his arms from the warm, constricting grip. Abruptly, the movement stopped and Logan was beyond terrified to open his eyes and look at the human.

“Now what are you?” The human mused to themself. Logan stilled at the words but still refused to open his eyes. Struggling was only going to deprive him of energy, and he needed energy if he wanted a chance to escape. Though, the bruises that are bound to form from this grip would be a slight issue.

A finger suddenly appeared under Logan’s chin and tilted his head upwards. In a panic, Logan flung his eyes open at the intruding touch. He was met with the curious gaze of a partially familiar human. Logan’s fear only subsided slightly with the reassurance that the other one hadn’t caught him.

However, he was filled with more fear when he noticed how curious the human looked. A curious human was nearly as dangerous as getting caught by a human child.

The human tilted his head. “Can you talk?” He maneuvered Logan’s head to the side, receiving a wince. The human analyzed him for another couple seconds before shrugging. “Ah, guess that’s fine. I’m Roman. I guess I’ll have to come up with a name for you. You’ll respond to something eventually. Yeah!”

Logan paled. What? If the human was already thinking of something to call him that meant the human was planning of keeping him. And the human barely gave him time to prove he could speak, not that he was planning on it. But the human, Roman, seemed convinced that Logan was some unintelligent animal that could be kept as a pet.

Logan had to get out. Now. But that was pretty difficult when you were restricted in a giant hand the size of your body. And Logan didn’t like the way the human was musing quietly under his breath and searching his closet with his free hand.

“Aha! Found it! This will be perfect for you, little guy!”

Logan paled more than he already was. That was a cage. A hamster cage. And knew exactly what, or who, was the next occupant.

Roman excitedly slammed the cage on the desktop and the unlocked door flung open from the impact. Without any warning, Roman thrust his fist into the cage and dropped Logan onto the cool cage bottom. And before Logan could register what just happened, the door was snapped shut.

Logan was trapped.

warnings: illness, past trauma, threats, arguing, injury/blood mention, dehumanizing language from an antagonist, enemies to friends speedrun edition

Janus found the encampment at the southern end of his woods, not far from where Virgil and Elli had parted.

It seemed to be a group of mercenaries, going by the metal-and-leather armor and assortment of scars each of them bore. He didn’t obviously didn’t tolerate human bounty hunters in his forest, but they were far enough away from the woods that if he hadn’t been searching, he likely would have dismissed them as another gaggle of normal passerby.

They didn’t seem to have any intention to get closer, either, only ever glancing in that direction with the familiar wariness or disgust that most humans wore while regarding his sanctuary.

Instead, they were moving along at a moderate, steady pace, with all the assuredness of a wolf running down an exhausted deer. Janus recalled the dark shadows underneath Virgil’s eyes, and felt that the comparison was far too apt.

The forest wasn’t what they’d come for.

Janus’s displeasure made the trees’ branches rattle all the same.

G/tober Day 3-Overgrown

Warnings: Brief mention of blood

This one is the first part to a story I’ve got quite a few ideas for. Inspired by the prompt list by @aaytaro-gt.

Logan huffed to himself as he trekked over the uneven terrain of the forest, focusing most of his attention to not tripping over. This was meant to be a ‘calming walk’, as suggested by his professor.

All Logan wanted to do was go back to the comfort of the lab and continue his work. He knew the theoretical benefit of going into nature: how it was good for your mental health, et cetera. In practice, however, nature was evil and evidently out to get him.

As if to prove his point, his foot caught on something and he scrambled to catch himself before he face-planted. Fumbling to his knees, Logan glanced over himself briefly.

While his palms were grazed, it was nothing major. What caught his attention more was what he’d tripped on.

At first glance, it looked like a pile of overgrown roots, interwoven by time but there was a glimmer of… something. A shimmer of gold that peeked through the roots, striking Logan instantly as something odd. Being a curious person at heart, he shuffled so he sat before the knot of roots.

From his backpack, he slid out a serrated pocketknife that he’d only started carrying for when he took these walks. The amount of times he’d found his ankles wrapped up in vines that had somehow snaked around without his notice was ridiculous.

Starting slowly, Logan started sawing away at the roots, doing only what he could see in case he damaged what he was looking for. It was an interesting and bizarre configuration that the roots had grown into and he wished he’d brought his phone to take photos. How did trees grow like that, with their roots in an almost purposeful build?

As he set aside another piece of hacked off root, Logan saw what had made the golden shine that had caught his eye.

It was a box. A box that was made of some kind of metal, weathered by age. The lid was detailed with gold, carved with motifs of flowers and vines with a central line of what Logan distantly recognised as Old English.

He’d studied it in a hyper fixation a few years ago and it was a short enough sentence he could translate the whole thing.

“The prince will sleep eternal,” Logan mumbled aloud, thumbing over the script thoughtfully. What did it mean? Obviously, it had to be old, considering the aged appearance of the metal and the inscription. Around the 7th century or so?

In his thoughtlessness, some sharp bit of the metal sliced into his thumb and Logan suppressed a yelp. The pain was swiftly ignored when he noticed the soft violet glow that emanated from the writing where his blood was smeared across the surface.

It became unbearably bright, forcing him to squeeze his eyes shut until the blinding light faded. When it did, he hesitantly blinked open his eyes, instinctively looking down at the box in his hands.

The lid was open, revealing the interior and Logan couldn’t bite back his gasp.

There was a tiny person, maybe 3 inches tall, curled up and asleep. From their back sprouted a set of luminous purple wings that were mesmerising, a kaleidoscope of colour.

Before Logan could even think what he was going to do, the person shifted, stretching out with a yawn. They sat up, rubbing at their eyes as their wings fluttered.

When they locked eyes with Logan, they let out a sharp yelp and he did the only thing he could think of. He slammed the box shut.

G/tober Day 6- Jars

Warnings: Mild dehumanising behaviour. Let me know if I missed any

A continuation of day 3’s ‘Overgrown’ prompt, featuring sassy Virgil. The prompt comes from @aaytaro-gt’s prompt list.

When Virgil came to, he’d expected to be in his bed with afternoon light streaming through the window.

So why, when he looked around after his abrupt awakening, was he faced with a human?

It instantly set off every alarm bell in his mind and he yelped, wings fluttering in preparation to dart past the human. He didn’t get the chance when the lid of the box he was trapped in was slammed shut.

Virgil was then jostled around as the human, presumably, started moving.

After a long few minutes of being tossed from wall to wall inside his prison, he finally settled at the bottom as the box was set down upright. The lid opened and while Virgil was blinded by the sudden onslaught of light, a shadow fell over him and the human snatched him up.

The grip was like that of a scientist, firm in keeping his wings pinned as well as his arms. A thumb was wedged under his chin as if Virgil was going to bite like some animal.

He was dumped into a glass container, barely avoiding landing on his wings. Scrambling to his feet, he swayed unsteadily as the human lifted the oddly shaped bottle to his face, distorted through the glass. He briefly debated if it was worth a bent wing to try and fly out before he squashed the idea.

“What are you?” he asked and Virgil hissed in response, bearing his teeth in an obvious threat. While he could instinctually understand any human language, the warped form of English coming from the human was unusual to him. How long had he been locked away?

“There’s hardly need for that.” The human said and Virgil couldn’t feel more patronised if he tried. Being stuck in a human’s presence was more than enough reason to be angry. It was easier to be angry than scared.

“Maybe when you summon the manners to have a civil conversation without trapping the other involved, I’ll have the respect to treat you civilly in return,” Virgil spat, wings flaring in indignation. The audacity to expect civility when the human had been such a terrible host was laughable.

Surprisingly, a bashful expression came over the man’s face and he looked chastised at Virgil’s words. “Ah, apologies, I wasn’t quite sure how to go about this. I’ve never seen one of your species before: what are you?” he asked and Virgil furrowed his brow.

“The question should be what my name is, but since you seem to be skipping pleasantries, I’ll start. Who are you?” Virgil leaned back against the glass, aiming for an air of casualness while his hands fidgeted with the fabric of his tunic. So far he was fine, nothing had been done to him.

Red crept across the man’s face and again he averted his eyes, “My name’s Logan.” He mumbled, “And you are?”

“Virgil,” he introduced curtly. “Are you going to let me out or continue gaping?”

——

Yes, there is a reason Virgil speaks so formally. In this, he would’ve been a prince and begrudgingly he would’ve learned the proper manner.

G/tober day 21- Candy

Warnings:None

Day 21 of G/tober, inspired by @aaytaro-gt’s prompt list. Sorry for the long absence but I got sick and it knocked me off my feet for a long while but I’m much better now. Today I got extra inspired so there’s a little drawing that accompanies this writing.

Roman loves Halloween!

The costumes, the decorations, the candy. It was all absolutely amazing and Roman loved this time of year, even as it started getting colder.

Despite all the fabric that he had access to during October, it was the candy that he was the most excited for. The humans just left it out in one massive bowl and of course Roman would take the chance to pilfer as much as he could. Generally, he went after hard candies and chocolate that would last longer so he could excuse the danger of it to Virgil as ‘legitimate borrowing’, whatever that meant.

Slinging his satchel over his shoulder, Roman checked the watch face hanging on the wall. 2:43 am. Perfect.

Clicking on his lamp, which was a red LED light, Roman started walking down the tunnels, carefully descending the nails embedded into the wooden beam. They’d tried their collective best to make the tunnels as safe as possible, but it was difficult when the tunnels needed to be at different levels in different rooms.

Coming up behind the wall socket in the living room, Roman wiggled it open and peered through, holding his breath as he listened for any sign of the humans. He didn’t see or hear anything and he quickly stepped into the open, repositioning the cover behind him.

Surveying the room once again, Roman couldn’t help being glad for the soft light of pumpkin themed lights strung around the room. When he locked eyes on the bowl of candy on the table, he grinned. It was out in the open, but it was the middle of the night and no humans were awake.

Jogging over, Roman squinted at the edge of the table, trying to gauge how to throw his hook. He took a few steps back and unspooled his hook, rearing back into a throw.

It hit the table and wedged in just fine. He gave it a few firm tugs and tested if it would take his weight only to fall flat on his rear and to narrowly miss a hook to the head.

With a mumbled curse, he stood back up and tossed his hook again. It took his weight and he clambered up the twine nimbly.

Heaving himself onto the table, Roman left his hook embedded into the table. There wasn’t a human around to see it so it didn’t matter and he was more distracted by the candy.

The bowl was an obnoxious shade of orange with black cursive writing that he can’t read in the darkness of the early morning, but he knew it said ‘Boo’. Running up to it, he hefted himself up on the edge to see what goodies were still left. The humans seemed to always take the chewy candy first, which was fine by him.

He grabbed a sour candy for Virgil and a few other pieces of cherry and grape candy for himself.

Just as he was about to push himself from where he balanced on the edge of the bowl, Roman spotted a lollipop. It was one of the few left and the only orange one.

Immediately, he reached for it, finding it just slightly too far out of his reach. But if he really stretched-

Roman squawked as he fell into the bowl, grasping the lollipop but crashing into the other candy with the sound of rustling plastic.

For a second, he froze, terrified that a human would come running in to see what had made all that noise. Roman had to chant internally to himself that it was the middle of the night, the sound he made would be minor at best to a human and no one was even awake to hear it.

Slowly clambering out of the sea of candy, Roman scanned the room, seeing that there were no humans. It soothed his thrumming heart and he hefted the orange lollipop like a trophy. He wound the strap of his bag around it so it was secured close to him and started his descent to the floor.

Spooling his rope back up, he headed back into the tunnels, completely unaware of the wide eyes that watched him leave.

——

While my art skills aren’t the best, I definitely enjoyed drawing this one. Perspective is my greatest enemy outside of my phone camera and for both I apologise.

I’ve only been in the Sanders Sides fandom for just under a year and here’s an expanded list of what I noted for each of the main 5 character as both giants and tinies.

Logan-

I generally see him as a giant which is pretty obvious when I write considering he’s my go-to for a giant. I imagine he’s pretty curious about a tiny and can be a little intense but is generally harmless. As a tiny, he’d be the most curious one, wanting to learn more about just about everything, but is still cautious of a giant although his need to know overrides a lot of his fear.

Virgil-

Again, another side it’s pretty obvious I see mostly as a tiny. He’d be skittish and avoidant at first but after he’s comfortable, he’d be more open to affection, though he definitely likes his own space. As a giant, I can see him being hesitant to touch a tiny, hyper-aware of how he’d feel in that situation where he was that small at a giant’s mercy and being terrified of hurting them accidentally.

Patton-

Patton is one I definitely could see as both a giant or a tiny. As a giant he’d be constantly checking in on a tiny, trying to show that he cares without suffocating suffocating their freedom. He’s always offering snacks/help in any way they need. As a tiny, he parents other borrowers and even humans once he’s familiar enough. Otherwise, he’s a cautious enough borrower with a raging sweet tooth.

Roman-

Roman is definitely a risk-taking tiny and not fond of restrictive rules. As a borrower, he would be constantly cutting it close to the times humans are around or even borrowing while humans are in the room. As a giant, he’s excitable and tries to tone down the urge to squeeze the tiny like a stress ball.

Remus-

Remus is another side I prefer to be tiny just because I don’t think I could write him in a satisfying way. As a tiny, Remus would be chaotic and unafraid of giants, actively trying to get their attention. As a giant, he’d be equally chaotic and would purposely try to mess with/scare w tiny although he wouldn’t actually hurt them, although it would take a while for them to realise.

13.-Shake

The prompt list was made by @hiddendreamer67

AN: a day late but better late than never, thanks to @destinys-dragon for helping me with this, also is short.

TW: Mention of death, freezing

Virgil closed the door of his home behind him, he left his backpack on the floor and turned on the air conditioner, this day was hot as hell, and if his classes were boring already, they were even more worried when you’re melting in the back of the classroom.

He didn’t even wanted to take a nap as usual, he just wanted to sit all day on his bed, watching Netflix and eating ice cream, it was Friday after all, he didn’t need to do homework today.

He walked to the kitchen and took a spoon, he didn’t need a bowl, he could eat right from the ice cream container, he opened the door of the freezer, and froze, pun not intended, there was a small figure inside, and it was shaking, Virgil forgot about the ice cream for a moment and took the tiny being out of the freezer, it was cold, but the heat of his body made it tolerable.

He grabbed a towel and wrapped whatever it was what he had on his hands around it.

After some minutes, Patton opened his eyes, was he dead already? The las thing he remembered was that he was freezing, but he felt warm now, he tried to look around once his eyes got adjusted to the light, there were brownish walls around him, and a white fabric surrounding him, he looked up, there was a lamp above of him, he recognised it, it was the one Virgil used for his reptile pets.

He sat and started to look for a way out, he could climb out with his hook, he reached for it, when he noticed he didn't had his bag.

”You're awake” said a voice, the light of the lamp was turn off an Patton was able to see a giant face looking down at him, and he found himself shaking again, but this time it wasn't because of the cold, this time, fear caused the shake.

Fake title: my itty-bitty lover

Virgil looked over at Patton, smiling as he sat on a shelf, dangling his legs over the edge. “You know, you won’t be able to have a second cookie tonight if you don’t make any, right?”

“But I wanna cuddle instead,” Patton insisted, reaching up to scoop Virgil into his hands. Normally, Virgil would slide right into his hands and curl into Patton’s fingers, but today he scooted back.

“Pat, you know you’re gonna regret it later when you want cookies. Come on, all you need to do is pop them in the oven and then we can cuddle while they cook, okay?” Virgil offered, grinning at him.

Patton thought it over for a minute, before he grinned brightly. “Yeah you are right! I’m gonna make the cookies and then we are gonna cuddle with a movie tonight!” He got his apron on, handing Virgil his own. Patton never really let Virgil help him since he could get hurt easily, but it was nice to talk and work as a team.

“Now you’re talking Patty. You can pick the movie if you put chocolate chips in the cookies,” he teased, putting on his purple apron, one that matched with Patton’s. It was dorky and not really his style, but it made his love happy.

“Deal! Can we watch Frozen again?”

“Of course Pat, we can watch whatever you want.”

He glanced away to glance at the rope he had hanging beside him, squeaking when Patton scooped him up. He went to protest, before a pair of lips was brushed over his face. He instantly went red, covering his face. “Pat~ god you’re too sweet sometimes!”

“I just wanted a kiss, and I’m not talking about the Hershey kind,” Patton informed, giggling as he pecked the top of Virgil’s head, before setting his little lover on the counter, bouncing over to the fridge.

Virgil shook his head, watching Patton walk around to gather the ingredients, babbling to himself about what he needed and how many he was going to make. Virgil felt his heart thump and he realized this is where he was meant to be. From their very rocky start in the beginning to their slow crawl towards becoming boyfriends, he knew he wouldn’t have it any other way.
