❝I hate coffee shops. Always filled with people rushing, taking selfies, or them bloody hipsters with their long scarves. I need to just start making my own damn coffee.❞

“wut?” douglas asked as he turned to looked at the other man before looking ahead at the line that was indeed full of hipsters (whatever those were) and impatient people. “is this wut ‘s always like?” he asked, having spent very little time in coffee shops. he didn’t even drink coffee, he just wanted a chocolate drink.

“Yeah, man. Welcome to the world of Starbucks. Disgustingly busy and loud places mind, especially in the morning.” Rudy rolled his eyes, a huff escaping his lips as he realised he still wasn’t any closer to getting his damned coffee. “Fuck this! I think there’s a McDonalds ‘round the corner. You in?”

Don’t go off with strangers, don’t talk to strangers, don’t trust strangers. He could here his brother in head telling him off already, but Duggy needed something more than the cage they’d built to be safe. “Yeah... yeah, let’s go.”
He didn’t even like coffee.

Rudy nodded, leading the other towards the door. “Soo…what’s your deal? You got work or something?” It was far too early in the morning to just be out for the fun of it. He, himself, had the joy of having a whole 12 hour shift ahead of him and he’d be damned if he embraced it without having his fix of coffee and a burger to keep him going.

“Nah, bruv. Just a morning person, got bored. Would prolly work but... well, ain’t like I’ve got much going for me. Never finished my schooling. Guessin’ yer about ta head off then, straight to work. What you do then, fer work that is?” He walked quick enough to the door to open for the shorter man. He was nothing if not his polite.

Rudy gave a nod of acknowledgement for the door opening, before wandering out in to the early morning chill. “I’m a paramedic. It’s a long bloody day, let me tell you that but—” He glances up at the other, brows lowering in concentration, “—I was like you, I guess. Didn’t really do well at school and thought I was fucked but then I did some courses, managed to do my EMT training. I wanted to be a doctor but that was laughable so I settled for being a paramedic. It’s not a bad slog though.”

“Nah, you got it all wrong. I did well in school, even when I prolly shoulda failed every class. I just... didn’t see the point. Ya study to get a job and slave ‘way til ya up ‘n die, and we all die someday. So ‘m sure I could have been an astrophysicist but what’s the bloody point?”
He walked along with the man, looking up at the sky and enjoying the cool weather, he’d always run hot since he’d become a wolf.
