Dimension 20: Fantasy High - First Kisses and Last Words, Episode 13 (Timestamp: 00:12:34)
Riz Gukgak HCs
Given how little sleep he gets, Riz is able to conk out pretty much anywhere at anytime. He also has an eerily good internal clock when it comes to napping, which means that he can say that he’s just going to sleep for five minutes, and he will. When he gets his own office above the apartment, he particularly likes sleeping under the desk. Nobody can see him when they first come in, and it’s comforting to be protected like that.
When the others find him the day their quest for the crown is supposed to start, they try to wake him up. He’s usually a pretty light sleeper so they don’t expect it to take much, but when he doesn’t wake up after Fabian throws a balled up piece of paper at him, or when Kristen shakes his shoulder, they start to get worried.
He likes watching bad police shows with Sklonda, where she points out all the procedural issues and Riz mentally takes notes on what to do, as well as what not to do. He does like the confidence that those cool detectives have, despite – or maybe because of – their flagrant disregard for the rules, and Sklonda has walked in on him practicing their catchphrases more than once.
It became their little tradition after Pok died, and comfort to Riz is sitting next to his mom on the couch, snacking on microwave popcorn mixed with candy, and watching detectives that take themselves too seriously.
Riz likes to chew on things while thinking, usually the side of his thumb or whatever poor writing utensil he’s holding at the moment, but on one memorable occasion he got lost very deep in thought and started gnawing on the side of his magnifying glass. He did accidentally chip one of this teeth, and refuses to tell anybody what actually happened.
He is also used to eating pretty much anything, and he and Kristen are team Will Eat Anything against Fabian and Adaine’s Specific Food Preferences
As a kid, Riz would always hide around the apartment – and, considering the size of the place, the number of places that he disappeared to was pretty impressive. He was a fan of hiding in cabinets or under furniture, but one one memorable occasion, he got a nat 20 and managed to wriggle his way into a vent, staying there for a couple hours as his parents searched for him.
Riz tells his mom pretty much everything, and when he gets very into something new or is close to cracking a case, he will talk at her, both so that he can work through it and because he loves her and wants to keep her in the loop. She always told him that if it was important to him it was important to her, and she did mean it, but that also resulted her learning more than she ever expected to know about how hundreds of years ago they put arsenic in the wallpaper.
Most of the other Bad Kids are baffled by him having a legitimately good relationship with his mom, but Gorgug gets it.
Fig acts like she doesn’t really care – poorly, as always – but she does ask Riz what it’s like to be so comfortable with his mom, and maybe, not like she needs to know, but also how they got to that point.
The Gukgaks are the coolest family ever and they are everything I love about goblins.
That ending with Pok Gukgak... only he and Sklonda could ever be cool enough for eachother.
God I loved protective Sklonda this episode
I mean this woman likely watched her son livestream his own death a couple months ago. And at around that same time learned that the reason her husband is dead was because his friend got him murdered
God, I love the art this season so much. Not just because it's fucking gorgeous, (which it is.) But. like. look at this.
The Trio of Goblin Badasses (otherwise known as the Gukgak family):
First of all. Pretty. Second of all, look at their facial features. Riz's got his dad's ears, but his mom's nose. Sklonda's jawline and Pok's dark brows. This kid is the spitting image of his parents, a perfect combo of the two. Just like Kalina said in Sophomore Year.
I Just Think It's Neat.
Thinking about the Bad Parents this episode because like, imagine your child, who's constantly burdened with the fate of the world, comes to you after school and says it's not enough. That they have to take the Last Stand exam and it's tomorrow. You have no time to take time off work to be with them, to be able to wait for them when they get home.
And then the next day you say goodbye in the morning, you kiss them on the head and tell them you love them. But you know that the next time you see them they will have died. You know that all the day you're at work, your child is fighting for their life in a drastic last stand. How do you focus with that knowledge? How do you move on, wondering if your child is already dead? That while your working or doing chores, your child could be lying on a sandy flood, dead, while all their friends fight for their lives?
How do you move past it? How do you live out that day?

Second, recently I can't stop thinking about your baby Riz drawings and Pok and Sklonda showing off their 'long son.' Could you please draw another picture of the Gukgaks when Riz was a baby?

The real reason Sandra Lynn wasn't on Baxter is because she is having a girls night with Lydia and Sklonda while all the kids and Jawbone are out of the house.
They are having wine and chicken parms.

the emblem for sklonda x pok x gorthalax is a three-tiered cake because sklonda is absolutely going to have her cake and eat it too!! she’s got devil and angel food baby! after having to deal with the bullshit of freshman and sophmore year this woman deserves a bottle of Elven wine and all the cake she wants.
Gorthalax makes a special office in his villa. Originally it was just for the Gukgaks--a work space for Pok when he was on missions that brought him to the Bottomless Pit, a place for Riz and Fig to work on legal issues in Hell when they came by, a place for Sklonda to study for her law school exams. He would walk by and see the family all working together on their individual projects, desks covered in old coffee mugs and notes and family photos, and his heart was always so fond of this little family. And then one day there’s another desk n the office, and Sklonda is sat atop it and Pok is leaning against it and Riz is half-asleep in the large office chair (much larger than any of the other Goblin-sized furniture in the office). “Figured it was about time the family office got an update.” Sklonda smiles at him, and Pok isn’t looking at his wife but at Gorthalax, eyes full of the same love and admiration he never thought he’d see directed at him. “Fig said she’d just share a desk with you, but I think there’s room for one more. Maybe you and the kids can go pick one out the next time you’re in the Prime Material plane?”
