Akatsuki no Yona ~Sleeping together 2nd part~

"Hak, I'm cold..."

It's a really cold and very breezy night and, although (Y/N) is wrapped in a blanket, she's still shivering from the cold.

"Ohime-sama (princess), you have the whole blanket wrapped around you, how are you still cold?"

"I don't know... I'm sorry Hak, Yona and I do nothing but cause you problems."

"(Y/N)-hime (princess (Y/N)), you never cause me problems, only your sister Yona does. I'm the one who apologizes to you: when you are cold, I should do everything to warm you, and it's what I'm going to do."

Hak hugs (Y/N) gently, bringing her body between his legs and holding her close. Her cheeks immediately heat up at our proximity.

"H-Hak? What are you doing?"

"I'm warming you up, (Y/N)-hime. Now tell me: why did you choose to sleep with me? Do you want something? -he takes a short break- Or maybe do you want to do something with me?" There it is, his true flirtatious and provocative character. He couldn't be sweet for once...

"Because I trust you a lot!"

(Y/N) can't see it because of the darkness, but Hak is smiling, slightly blushing. However, his blush quickly fades when he takes the princess' wrist and brings her face closer to his. Now she's the red one.

"You shouldn't say that, ohime-sama. It makes me want to do things to you..."

"Hak!"

A few moments pass and (Y/N) relaxes in his hold, hugging him tightly and snuggling into him.

"Hak..."

"Yes, ohime-sama?"

"Thank you."

~Cough, cough~

"(Y/N), does your throat hurt?" Yoon gets up from his bed worried.

"It doesn't hurt, ~cough~ I just have ~cough~ a lot of coughing."

"Here -the boy hands the girl a small bowl containing a clear liquid- it's a medicine to reduce coughing. In any case, if your throat doesn't hurt, it means you're recovering."

"This is ~cough~ all thanks to ~cough~ you ~cough~!"

"Baka! Just drink the medicine!" Yoon turned red and flustered.

So cute! (Y/N) can't help but think this.

Then, the boy moved his bed closer to her.

"I'll stay up for a while to check on you and give you medicine for tomorrow. Try to sleep."

"Thank you, Yoon, for everything you have done for me, Yona-hime (princess Yona) and Hak too."

"I-it was nothing."

Now Yoon is all embarrassed, how cute! (Y/N) continues to think.

The sick stares at the doctor for a few minutes without being noticed, then she closes her eyes, and, when she's about to fall asleep, Yoon lies down next to her and closes his eyes, his hand finding its way to hers.

"Weren't you supposed to give me medicine for tomorrow?"

"Sleep, baka!"

"NII-CHAN (big brother)! YONA!" (Y/N) quickly sits up in her bed, drenched in sweat from the nightmare she just had about her brother and Yona dying.

A few minutes after waking up, the girl hears footsteps and someone opens the door.

"Soo-Won..." (Y/N) whispers to the boy who entered her room. Soo-Won steps closer to her.

How could she not think about the noise she's made the last few nights? Her room is next to the king's, and Soo-Won probably heard her screams and cries every night. The girl scolds herself.

"Soo-Won!" (Y/N) screams, hugging the boy and crying into his chest.

The king doesn't ask questions, he just sits at the foot of her bed, carrying (Y/N) in his lap and holding her close to him. After a few minutes, her sobs turn into simple sniffles.

"Are you feeling better?"

"Yes… Thank you, Soo-Won." The boy makes the girl sit down on the bed.

"You're welcome. Now, go back to sleep." Soo-Won is about to get up, when (Y/N) grabs the sleeve of his dress.

"W-wait, Soo-Won! Can I sleep with you tonight?" She's all red and embarrassed for asking.

Expecting rejection, the girl releases her grip on the boy's sleeve, but the king takes her hand and takes her to his room, making her lie down on his bed with him.

(Y/N) gets into a comfortable position and tries to calm her pounding heart, while Soo-won wraps her in his arms in a loving hug.

"Good night, (Y/N)."

"Good night, Soo-Won."

Kusa is killing me rn

Hak clinging to hope about Soo won this ch just ruined me because this whole arc, it was the same for Soo won too.

It was not guilt, but ultimately hope that undid him. You could see him cracking, tangibly feel the desperate hope seeping in, while he himself was completely unconscious and unaware of it.

It starts when his guard was already down from his illness, from facing the war he feared and dreamed of the most, from seeing Hak everywhere, from Yona forcing him to face her and his complicated feelings about hiryuu

He was screaming

but she goes on

Reminding him exactly of everything he wants shut out and away.

It gets to him, the wall starts to crack.

Then he hears Hak is willing to help him after everything

And it starts to seep in, something else besides guilt, something like hope.

Then Hak goes missing, and amid his fear and anxiousness, he sees Yona crying desperately

The cracks are bigger and bigger, until the seal literally breaks

and his heart is on the surface, bare and vulnerable.

It all built up to him genuinely losing his walls and lowering his guard to the point that when Yona told him she would help

He actually allowed himself to hope, just briefly, just slightly, hope that maybe her willingness to help after everything he has done means that something, anything, could be undone.

But no

She is leaving

She and Hak will never be by his side after all

He knows it.

He knows, and yet

You bring her with you. Yes, you should have known better. You who genuinely believes the dragons are not needed, who believes Yona is influenced by her father, you of all people should have known better, so why did you? what do you want and expect? to be justified, understood, or forgiven? 

You who should have easily picked on her reasons for helping you, should have known it was to keep a politically unified front

Yet you make it personal, because the hope you have been feverishly resisting is all what you can see now.

So tell me, you who were uncontrollably and desperately hoping for the smallest things now, tell me

How does it feel?

Why don’t you stop hurting me?

“You have a lot on your plate” he says, cluelessly

And uh… you don’t too? Su-Won? Cause I think you’re also dealing with a complicated situation regarding love. 

Unconscious contradiction here? There was a certain woman super into you who you betrayed… someone you should be forgetting, but haven’t.   

And about what Lili said….

“does he know how Yona felt?” — interesting question, cause —

Yeah… he knows how Yona felt, Lili. 

He… knows. 

He can’t forget that she could not forget him, that she wanted to marry him. But he definitely has no desire to delve into it.

In a previous post, I mentioned that Lili asked this question “you don’t intend to murder her, do you?” in the same place that Hak asked years ago, “do you love the Princess (romantically)?” And so I wondered if Su-Won, above, had a deja vu of Hak’s question when Lili asked him this. But he most likely does not want to answer that. He’s probably not told a single soul about Yona’s feelings for him. 

That’s why I’m kind of sure that when Su-Won eventually learns that Hak and Yona are romantically involved (not any time soon!) he’s gonna find a very difficult time forgetting what he could have had with Yona had he not made the decisions he did. He might be haunted by what it would have been like if he were in Hak’s place. It hits harder because Hak is not a random guy, he was and still is Su-Won role model, goal, someone he constantly compared himself to and wanted to be like, someone Il approved of… and now Hak’s with the woman who used to love him… don’t you think Su-Won could start comparing himself to Hak regarding that? Wanting to be Yona’s love interest like Hak is, despite knowing that is impossible? 

That’s why from my viewpoint, the people going, “but Su-Won sees Yona as a little sister/kid/sibling asdhjkfhasdklfh” may be kidding themselves at this point. Not only has “not forgetting someone (despite impossible circumstances)” been used in the above panels in a romantic context like, 4 times, but Su-Won knows what she felt for him is not platonic which triggered some non-platonic sentiments in him in the very first chapter. Hasn’t their dynamic changed greatly since? 

And on another note, why do I feel like this is all setting up for Su-Won paralleling with Lili? Maybe… because this way Su-Won and Lili might understand one another better. Maybe they’ll end up together? Su-Won x Lili? Just some speculation. 

when jaeha and soowon met in the water tribe arc i felt the best of universes colliding it is the two most emotionally repressed clowns in the wide kouka kingdom it’s the i am the perceptive master of human emotions i read everyone like a book but im the entire circus when it comes to my own emotions and since then ive been eagerly waiting for a second meeting and when i tell you i was not disappointed

jaeha was there trying to play it cool but he slips and go practically yelling his repressed feelings for the first time in his life to someone who isn’t even a friend and soowon just receives the signal and his emotions about hak start dot connecting like the whole time these two managed to bury their feelings even from themselves but u put them in a room together for 2 mins and they have a Revelation like

YES OMG! I used to hate that hairpin but when you really think about it, its so important.

SooYona and the Hairpin

I was reading chapter 62 of Akayona and…

We, of course, run into Yona’s hairpin. And we are given a small flashback of when Soo-won gave it to her. I just want to reflect on this hairpin and Yona’s feelings and the development through this manga.

First off, I want to acknowledge how much of a CORE and significant element this hairpin is. Lets start from when Soo-won gives it to her.

This hairpin was given to Yona on her sixteenth birthday and there are lots of things the reader may not acknowledge. Firstly, this hairpin is EXPENSIVE and HIGH QUALITY. So many people realize that, therefore it is seen as a beautiful gift and beautiful item, something a princess would totally own.

What I think is important is Soo-won took the time to search for an item for Yona’s birthday and came across this hairpin (while plotting his murder in Il). (If he only cared about murdering Il, why buy her a gift? Why buy her an EXPENSIVE gift?) He spent money on its quality, having thought she would like it and it would fit her. It shows how much he KNOWS yona. Like literally, Aro, a kai empire woman mentions it goes with Yona’s hair perfectly.

Now there’s two things I’ve considered with him purchasing this hairpin.

1. He did it to keep her from suspecting he would kill her father and keep this idea that soo-won is her perfect, beloved cousin and not a murderer. 2. He genuinely wanted to give something to Yona that she would like and appreciate. A gift that’s tangible and able to be shown off to others. Small enough to not be over the top but big enough to mean something.

I’ve concluded there’s a little bit of both of these in his actions. Soo-won DOES care for Yona, despite killing her father.

In soo-wins mind, king Il is evil. He’s a heinous leader and he can’t stand him. Yona, however, is someone soo-won deeply cares for, but his love for the kingdom seems to overpower his care for her.

I also want to acknowledge the fact that Soo-won had many chances to kill Yona: - Literally right after he killed Il - In the courtyard - When he met her in the earth tribe after kumji’s death (CRUCIAL PART OF THE DEVELOPMENT OF THEIR RELATIONSHIP because 1) he didn’t kill Yona 2) he was shocked and relieved she was alive and so was hak 3) he hid her from judo and the guards 4) he LOWKEY said she can kill him after he finishes his duties as king 5) he tells her a very heartfelt goodbye) - When they met with lilli - When they met during the Nadai arc

Many more. BUT HE DOESNT. He does not hate Yona and he does not despise her. There is LOVE there. Certainly. Whether it be romantic or platonic, he has love for his cousin.

Back to this chapter, I’ve realized that a lot of people hate how Yona has held onto this hairpin.

But let’s reflect on why.

I’m sure many of you can relate to having a first love. Try putting yourselves in yona’s expensive customized royal shoes, okay?

Soo-won in Yona’s eyes is the definition of perfect. He’s intelligent, good looking, friendly, accepting, considerate, and incredibly optimistic.

Really, there’s no point for anyone to question his personality, especially Yona. So for years, yona’s love for him built up and up and up with every good thing he did for her and others. Who, ever in their right minds, would think that he would do any wrong, let alone murder her father? It’s such an irrational thing that it probably shocked her more than frightened her when she saw soo-won kill her father.

And JUST DAYS BEFORE, soo-won gave her something that halted her hate for her hair. He’s been in Yona’s life forever and he’s been her best friend, her crush, hell he was her mother at one point.

Soo-won literally is everything she’s always wanted. Now imagine your first love giving you something that is so thoughtful and beautiful, and then SAYS YOURE BEATIFUL ALONG WITH IT. Can you imagine?! If my first love said that, I’d cry in happiness. Seriously. Like, Yona has been in love with this guy who she deemed beyond perfect for YEARS. YEARS, she has been dancing for him, practicing the harp for him, preparing sweets and wanting to engage in dangerous activities because she was that in love with him. I mean cmon guys, Yona had it so unbelievably bad for him. Probably way worse than we did for our first loves.

He is such a crucial part of Yona’s life. She wanted to MARRY this kid and hand him the throne. Okay?

Now just imagine, IMAGINE your first love betraying you just once. And really all it took was once for him to shatter her image of him. But even though it was incredibly painful and so wrong on so many levels, she can’t forget what he was to her before and how he treated her for sixteen freaking years.

Let’s also acknowledge that 99% of the time, first loves never leave. That’s what sucks about first loves. They stay. You may move on, you may develop feelings for someone else, but first loves will always have that hold on you.

In Yona’s life, there was no other guy except for hak and he was SO much more different from soo-won. Seriously, in Yona’s head, as much as it sucks for Hak, there was NO WAY at the time that Yona would ever consider hak. Ever. No way.

And could you really blame her?

Sure, they’re both incredibly hot and great guys, but I would personally choose the guy who wasn’t an asshole to me, who didn’t tease me, and who protected me when someone important to me died as a child. (Hak probably awkwardly would’ve done the same thing, but he got OFFENDED when soo-won and Yona held hands).

Soo-won is literally Yona’s and our Prince Charming. Without even realizing it, he’s incredibly romantic and kind and loving. Like seriously guys, Soo-won is so freaking important to Yona.

That hairpin isn’t just a hairpin. It’s the precious memory of the Soo-won Yona fell in love with. It’s the precious memory of being his best friend since childhood. It’s so much more than a hairpiece.

Losing that hairpin would be accepting reality and letting go of the boy who meant the absolute world to her.

And that’s why this hairpin is so freaking important AND WHY IT WAS SO SHOCKING SHE FINALLY LET IT GO AND LET SOOWON GO.

Give Yona credit. That must’ve hurt like hell. And she did it for her dragons. Sure, from the outside, she gave away a hairpin that she liked but she literally let go of the past. She accepted that the Soo-won she knew and loved is not who he is now.

Even though that girl was a spoiled princess, she hit ROCK BOTTOM and look at the way she’s grown and developed and become a SOLID WOMAN. A WARRIOR.

No wonder Soo-won can’t move when she confronts him. No wonder Hak can’t help but brag about her. No wonder kija has a crush on her. No wonder shin-ah and yoon cry at the thought of Yona hating them or getting hurt. No wonder Zeno wants to shield her from danger. No wonder Jaeha wants to tease her.

The girl is a piece of art.

The things this new chapter makes me feel y’all… the soowon development? Beautiful. the kouren and soowon interactions? amazing. the yonak moments? fantastic. the gang and the five stars just being themselves? that’s great sweetie, you’re doing amazing. every part of this chapter makes me so happy

A consideration

Have you ever thought that King Il knew of Suwon's capabilities and could have asked him to cooperate in the government affairs but never did?

that King Il purposely let the turmoil arise although there were simpler ways to prevent it just because he couldn't withstand his own child nephew?

that if King Il lived a long life, Yona would have ascended to the throne unprepared and unfitted to her role, as the capricious princess she once was?

And the most misunderstood and disregarded point here :

that Suwon was not the one who judged King Il an awful ruler but Kouka's people?

Suwon never woke up in the morning on his feet, looked at the horizon and determine "it's the perfect day for a homicide!".

It was Kouka's people who cried, starved, mourned, shuddered in fear, thirsty for justice, who decided that King Il should have died.

Suwon was a tool for the end. You can also change the subject, if not him, someone else would have grabbed a blade and stick it into Il's heart.

I was in the middle of a lovely break when kusanagi decided to just kill me. Tell me why i open the new yotd chapter to the most heartbreaking soohak reunion ever? Like HUH? The absolute despair pouring out of soowon and the helplessness hak must be feeling is just too much to take in rn

It feels like a forever since we last time saw the dragons,,, I love them so much eye- I cant wait to see more of them and when they all regroup again.

Also Yona is that bitch I love her so much and her character development is just

And the way she was just sassing everyone around her I went 💕💕 literally Queen👑 Also her outfit? She was killing it.

I wonder how Hak is doing... And Yoon is finally living his dream reading books

I want to re-read because I'm starting to forget things and now I would actually understand some of the stuff that's going on
