Headcanon 1!
Donnie has Asperger’s, a “subcategory” on the autism spectrum that makes it hard to process emotions and can lead to repetitive thoughts.
For example? His insistences on using his tech to solve his problems. While it may be a more complicated way, it’s the way he thinks of, and not something simpler. Instead of looking around to get ideas of where he is, he goes to his tech to preform a scan of the room for example. He uses his battleshell to fly up a single flight in an abandoned mall instead of just jumping or taking the stairs.

Donnie was the only one of his brothers to be hesitant about going to the surface of New York. (They’re about 6, 7, and 8 respectively.) The sounds of the city above could be being made by scary, dangerous creatures who would love nothing more than to eat up little turtles like him! “He’s a softshell, he’d be the tastiest and easiest to chew!” He thinks to himself.
It took months to even get him to peek out from under the manhole cover, he was so scared. New things are scary when you’re new to them, doubly so when you’re an autistic child being dragged out of your comfort zone. (I speak from experience.)
His brothers, thankfully, didn’t drag him out into it right away. (They knew from a bad experience with him freaking out about exploring the sewers that it wasn’t a good idea to throw him in the deep end right away.) they started with simple things, like bringing him up near the surface to let him adjust to the sounds. Peaking out from under the manhole cover to get an idea of what’s out there. Sticking a hand out to feel the texture of the ground there, smelling the air. When he leaves, he stays in the alley the sewer cover is in for a few weeks, adapting to the changes and differences. He slowly explores, clinging close to his brothers in case of the slightest scare. Eventually, he starts exploring on his own, losing his fear of the unknown for the most part. It’s still there, deep down, but it’s been repressed and tackled for the most part.
Headcanon 3!
Donnie gets sick really, really easily. (That’s two really’s.) being a softshell, it’s easy for slight callouses to build up on his soft shell under the clamps, seeing as it’s practically just skin. When those callouses crack, illness gets in easily. While most of the time he just gets a minor cold, there are numerous occasions where he will get seriously sick. Because of this, donnie is a major germaphobe. He sanitizes every part of himself when someone coughs in the same ROOM as him. He wipes down every surface used and Adjacent to where he conducted his experiments in his lab. He changes the bedsheets and washes them every few days, and will shove all the personal protective equipment he can on if he suspects he is sick. We’re talking face masks, face shields, thick rubber gloves, everything.

Okay I like being able to now recognize and say out loud "I'm starting to melt down, I need a break" instead of just enduring and getting increasingly wound up like an industrial cable about to snap and kill three people on the rebound. XD
What’s Visual Snow Syndrome (VSS), and why do so many autistic people have it?
I learned about this the other day, when I posted about palinopsia (visual trailing/afterimages) being common in autistic people, and a couple of our followers told me about their VSS. I did some more research, and discovered that I also have it.
Visual Snow Syndrome is a neurological condition that interferes with visual processing. It’s caused by hyperactivity and hyper-excitability of nerves in certain areas of the brain that process visual information.
The core feature of VSS is constantly seeing tiny, fuzzy “feedback” in the environment. It’s kind of like seeing the world through a staticky TV screen. Some people’s visual static is larger than others. Mine is relatively fine-grained, but it gets bigger and more obvious in low lighting.
Some of the other symptoms of VSS include:
Palinopsia (visual trailing/afterimages)
Photophobia (sensitivity to light)
Increased and enhanced ectopic phenomenon, such as floaters, phosphenes, and Scheerer’s phenomenon
Seeing glare, starbursts, and halos around lights
Difficulty seeing at night/in the dark
Seeing random flashes of light and/or color, without cause from the environment
It’s common for people with VSS to experience comorbid migraines, but VSS is not the same thing as migraine aura.
So, why do autistic people often have VSS?
It comes down to the fact that VSS is caused by the hyper-excitability of neurons in areas of the brain that process visual information. A core feature of autism is hyper-excitable neurons, especially in areas of the brain that have to do with sensory processing. So it makes sense that autism would often inadvertently cause VSS.

Been learning a lot about the intersection of brain worms (aka autism and adhd) and oh boy I did not know how badly concerta was fucking with me. o_o Apparently ritalin can be fine (though I have been wary of trying it again since I got off its extended form) but concerta will fuck you up, or at least it fucked me up. I feel a lot more alive and able to experience positive emotions in the past couple weeks off it, that's for sure! I learned the hard way that it was basically over stimulating my brain constantly but that wasn't apparent in Cowtown because there was almost no external stimulus. After several hours-long panic attacks and some quite spectacular meltdowns in a rather overwhelming working kitchen, I decided to go easy on the concerta and overall I'm having a much better time of things.
Basically, if you've got both ADHD and the tism, short actiing or no stimulants may be helpful sometimes as they turn the volume up on the tism and down on the screaming brain noise that is ADHD. But the long acting ones or at least concerta may overload you to a us unpleasant degree. And this is something that a lot of auti∵ics I've met already knew but I didn't meet one who told me until now. XD

Does anyone else really wanna be completely hairless from the nose down including ur kitty/crotch get a bunch of satin bedsheets n pillows cases while completely naked as u dry hump ur hairless crotch on a stack of satin pillows until u finish n after ur done u put on ur matching satin pjs n blissfully drift off to sleep.

Sometimes I geta little scared to post my fantasies even though this is tumblr as I'm still trying to discover them alone on top of me having anxiety n a plethora of other mental health illnesses n disabilities that I was born with, just trying to get my thoughts together for anything half of the time feels like a lot of work sometimes ya know so instead I like n repost a bunch of stuff even though I wanna make my own kawaii pics n horny posts so that I might have a better idea on what I want n therefore have a better idea of what to write , but i currently don't have the means atm financially or otherwise X<
Sorry for the little vent, this isn't my usual type of post, l'm kinda tired now so maybe I'll lay down n take a nap, or just continue scrolling thru tumblr or pinterest like i always do.
